I highly recommend this book! Tracy Michaud, author of Broken and Blessed
I picked up this book because I've been struggling to lose weight and Christine's story really resonated with me. From the very first page you feel like you've met someone that can understand your struggles with weight and who won't look at you with judgment when those numbers on the scale just won't go down. I appreciated how Christine took time to explain the science behind how our bodies work, and what sugar does to our bodies and hormones. There is so much more that goes into trying to get fit and lose some weight than just trying to eat less and move more. What really stuck out to me was the knowledge that sugar, which is in basically everything, has such a negative impact on our systems. Yet most doctors will only ever tell you to move more, cut calories, or worse, take a pill to lose weight. Does this book offer a quick and easy way to lose weight? No. Losing weight, actually getting fit and healthy is more the goal, should be neither quick nor easy. If it is than chances are it won't last. What Christine does her in approach is explains how our bodies use sugar, why we crave it and then helps point us to ways to cut out sugar and learn to eat better so our bodies will start to crave good for us food. Christine has nice, easy to read writing style, and she does a good job putting in plenty of resources and tips in her book as well, to help you get on the road that's right for you. I think my favorite thing is that the point of her book isn't necessarily to have you get on yet another diet fad, but to make lifestyle changes that will help you not only start to look better, but more importantly, help you start to feel better in your body.
“Learn the science, apply the science and change your life”! I love in the very beginning of her book that the author explains a crucial step in the weight loss process is commitment to action. This book has a lot of great suggestions, including making faith and God a part of your health journey! Throughout the chapters she includes scripture references and journaling prompts. She also goes into detail of the signs of food/sugar addiction and all the research that she’s learned along the way on her own health journey.
Her book includes lifestyle rules and her top five resources that I also found interesting to look up. I really liked her HEART acronym with viewing health and wellness:
❤️ Handle your emotions. ❤️ Examine your thoughts. ❤️ Ask for motivation. ❤️ Run with courage. ❤️ Take action!
I recommend reading this book if you want practical tips and read research about sugar addiction to help improve your body, mind and spiritual health!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and views expressed are my own.
This book is not a new diet book but a new lifestyle book. It not only helps you with those cravings you get every afternoon for sugar but helps you learn how to be healthier. SugarFreed is uplifting, insightful, and informative regarding a different approach to weight-loss that many people shy away from or have never been told about. The author shares personal experiences with her weight-loss journey, as well as stories from clients of hers. In this book, you’ll discover how to: - Resolve: Confront chronic health issues to begin healing. - Restore: Fuel your body with wholesome choices. - Renew: Break destructive food behaviors and patterns. - Redeem: Feast on God’s Word to satisfy the true cravings of your soul.
SugarFreed, focuses on putting God first in our lives and honoring Him with our body and what we put into it. It's about making healthy eating choices that remove sugar (and therefore carbs b/c they convert to sugar) and living a healthy lifestyle for God's glory. In the process, removing sugar, helps with weight control. This isn't just a diet book, it is a life-style change focusing on the Lord. As Trimpe’s book states, "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending! It’s encouraged me to focus on changing my eating habits to better honor the Lord.
Are you metabolically deranged? The words “metabolically deranged” caught my attention. Christine Trimpe’s SugarFreed book is directed to those of us who are overweight or even obese, pre-diabetic or even diabetic, insulin resistant with imbalanced hormones and inflamed. What also caught my attention is that she emphasizes Learn the science. Apply the science. Change your life. Realize that Food is fuel and Food is medicine. But she not only wants you well versed with head knowledge but she also wants you to embark on a heart transformation journey leaning on the Lord daily for guidance in personal health goals. Are we ready for change?
Christine’s Sugar Freed is a must-read for anyone struggling to improve their health amidst the confusing mix of “eat all the sugar, just count the calories” advice and other poor weight loss recommendations. She gets to the core of sugar addiction, offering real, actionable steps to help you take control of your health. I’ve been following her on X for a while (definitely give her a follow!). Her insights are full of encouragement and wisdom, guiding you toward a healthy, sustainable, and victorious lifestyle.
Dieting is complicated, and I loved hearing the author's voice telling us repeatedly that we could succeed. Hearing about her own struggles, especially at the beginning and end of the book, was truly inspiring. I also appreciate the inclusion of both why we need to "ditch sugar" as is often said, and the practical steps to do it. Mostly this was great to read from a faith-based perspective. Great book I'll be sharing with others!
As someone who has struggled to stay out of the prediabetic zone, I found SugarFreed very helpful. It has convinced me to stay completely away from sugar and to avoid simple carbs . . . as they will simply create cravings for more of the same. I am now reading labels for nutritional information and have dropped five pounds in the couple weeks it took me to read this book. Highly recommended!
Doesn't matter if you have weight to lose or not, Christine Trimpe does an amazing job showing us that we can be OVERCOMERS for Christ with whatever holds us back. Reality is, most of us have some sort of "weight" that needs to be released. Two thumbs up!
I loved that the author spoke authentically from where she had been. You could see how she learned about the struggles she had and many of us have as well with specific foods- especially sugar. She offers straightforward plans to help the reader overcome the addiction in their own life.
Absolutely loved this book! Loved the author's writing style and her evident, genuine interest in helping her readers live a better life and find Jesus in everything!
I have been eating the way that this book outlines for almost three years already. I read the book because I like to read new information and continue to increase my motivation. I'm also Christian, so I enjoyed the scripture in this book. Although I've been eating this way for 3 years, I think this book is great for anyone who is beginning. If you've already tried everything under the sun to lose weight and/or improve your health, but you haven't heard of Christine Trimpe, I highly recommend this book.
