Yeah, this event rocks. Thrown immediately into an eclipse and the vampire uprising, the grim start to this event sets the tone, with some heavy hitter Avengers being taken down and out (and violently, especially in the Red Band version) in the first issue by the incredibly intriguing and super awesomely designed Bloodcoven; not to mention what happens to Strange in the same issue. The fight for the rest of the event is equally epic, with an awesome cast of Marvel's best: Blade being the twist villain (possessed, but still), the epic ressurection of Moon Knight, and Doom straight aura farming, but also saving the day and setting up perfectly for the One World Under Doom event that follows this one.
I only wish there was more!

Pretty disappointing to be honest. The big gimmick of the red band ultraviolent tag on this thing is kind of undercut from the get go because the dark setting of the story and the art itself. It obscures most of the violence outside of a few panels of excess. As for the story, I also felt short changed in that department. There’s absolutely no reason they couldn’t have included the three issues of the Dracula series that are basically a prelude to this. They are important enough that they are referenced in two different footnotes so why aren’t they in here? This whole story is only five issues! Add to that the fact that what they set up at the end with Doom is far more interesting than anything actually in this book. There’s a lot better stuff out there.
