Blessings of the Devourer

Rate this book

War has come to the Godless Lands…

With the ashes of Brightridge glowing bright after the Raven’s uprising, the army of Riven has assembled, prepared to conquer the Farm and Dorn once and for all. On the verge of starvation, the followers of the Devourer must continue their ravenous need for conquest to appease their god’s desires and earn his blessings.

Unable to face Riven in pitched battle, the people of the Farm fight a desperate string of skirmishes against their enemy’s vast military might in hopes of delaying them before Dorn’s arrival. Meanwhile, Cadell, the last line of the infamous House Laird, stalks the land in search of the man who killed his father and will stop at nothing until honor is satisfied.

The blessings of the Devourer are many, and Riven’s might nigh unstoppable. In face of such terrible odds, the path to victory will be steep, and paved with the blood of heroes.

Sean has become one of my auto-buy authors, and his works are deeply underrated.

This is a highly satisfying and bloody conclusion to a great trilogy. No one is safe.

A cautionary tale to cannibals everywhere ;)

I've got to admit that I do like Sean's books. He has a good writing style and manages to build a believable world and fill it with believable characters. This is a worthy ending to the Godless Lands story. No spoilers just get yourself a copy.

I was lucky enough to chosen as beta reader for this book, as with book 2 as well.

This is grimdark fantasy at its best, as it’s meant to be full of flawed characters in a very flawed world doing what ever they need to do to make sure what they are fighting for survives no matter happens to the fighters.

Both sides can be seen as doing the right things, for each ones vision of how they see themselves and how they perceive each others ways.

It all comes down to survival, this book contains totally flawed characters, some can be discribed as products of their culture and experiences and they do not hesitate to use whatever means necessary to make a difference to their futures of the people they are fighting for.

This is also a class war as well, when you read it you see what I mean.

This entire series is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves grimdark.
