Very gory boys own stuff. Poor.

Some characters have more unlikely narrow escapes than Batman. While research has gone into correct equipment and ww2 scenarious, there are some glaringly bad errors as well e.g. The author obviously has little or no knowledge of vehicle mechanics. All the combat sequences are described with unnecessary gore using many silly, invented adjectives. This becomes very tedious, as do all the books.

I don't do book reviews

I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.
My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.
If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give
If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.
Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away.
Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.

This was an absolutly superb series of books to read. Well written and good historical research.
Adorned with strong, believable characters, along with a great storyline that is one adventure after another.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the battle engagements where detailed and expressed the brutality, horror and futility of war, but the subsequent battle violence and its effect described in graphic detail was for me, just too horrific. Other than that a great read.

Overall I would recommend this book.

Great value, brutally real war stories.

Not for the faint heart as these stories don't hold back on the blood, gore and trauma of war but if you are prepared for that then this is a great box set.
Tom Caine doesn't have it easy in any of the stories with plenty of bloodshed and heartache along the way but each story is a thrill ride and there is at least a somewhat satisfying ending.

Fast Paced, Action Packed

Tom Caine is invincible, in this series of five books the action is unrelenting. Using terms similar to that used in boys comics of yesteryear.
Good characters that we come to know well, these books are easy reading.

Awesome

I couldn’t put this series down. It flowed from book to book. I felt as though I was right there in the middle of all the action. I enjoyed the 5 book series immensely.

The story line was great, I had not read an account of world war 2 from a British soldiers perspective before. I was hooked after book one of the five.

Tedious.

I didn't care for this book, so I don't think I will finish the series. Overwritten in every aspect. I lost interest pretty early.
