The bad guys are defeated and she’s enjoying some quality time with a certain FBI Special Agent... Hot Stuff.
It’s been two months since Trixie put her past to bed and things are finally getting back to normal. She has a shiny new driver’s license with her real name and she’s not hiding from anything or anyone...except maybe commitment.
And men with machine guns.
Despite her best efforts, Trixie and the people she loves are once again at the center of a storm of trouble. The difference is, this time Trixie knows that she has help in her corner.
Trixie Bigotti may not be a secret agent anymore, but she’s still got a few tricks up her sleeve. The bad guys who brought trouble to her little neck of the woods are about to have a serious case of regret.
I totally loved this story and Trixie. what a gal! Her partner, Jay who she skipped out on for 13 years was such a great guy. She left the CIA on the run to protect their daughter Kit. They were a great match as they worked things out and tried to learn to live again. Together. Kit only met Jay two months before and they also were working things out and it was going good. Kit and her friends Char and new friend Meg were so much fun and teamed up to get Kit her dog. Kit has her eye on Dinky, a young, large black Lab. Trixie is consistent in saying, No! repeatedly. Often without looking up when Jay and Kit try to change her mind ! It was hilarious. Kit wanted one in the worst way and everyone was kinda ganging up on Trixie to see that they got one. It was hilarious. I didn't get to read Book 1 yet but now I want to because there were also some other great characters that played a big part in the assignment, searches and rescues. And it was mentioned that they were know from past escapades ! Don't mess with Trixie and Family Dinky was a big sweetheart but also surprised people on how helpful he was. Even Trixie who called him all kinds of names but Dinky. A ridiculous name for that huge dog in her opinion. Cow Dog was one of my favorite names that she called him and it made me laugh out loud. I loved the ending as well when Grandma comes a calling. I can't wait to read more about this family and you just know that Trixie is NO going to be as retired as she had hoped to be.
Trixie is back! I love this second installment to Trixie Bigotti’s story. This novel (along with the first installment, Blast from the Past) has it all! An amazing, strong badass of a FMC who isn’t twenty-something and isn’t to be trifled with, either; a great (closed-door) love story; action, adventure, and intrigue; oh, and don’t forget a lovable and LARGE rescue dog/hero! The characters continue on their development journey through this tale that sees more excitement for the family and friends of Trixie…and dare I hope? The ending?? There is DEFINITELY room for (hope for!) yet another installment to come!
Romance, Suspense, Action, Comedy - a book (series) for everyone!
This was an easy little read! The family stuff was really fun, and I laughed at the jokiness around Dinky.
Some of the more actiony bits were written confusingly. There was a mid-action flashback that made me super confused -- I reread it like twice before I even realized it was a flashback.
The bad guy POVs were not great. The last one seemed to want to evoke something like meaningful sacrifice, but the story didn't support it beforehand.
I'm not a fan of the mini-cliffhanger, just because it made me inclined to dislike that character.
I really like this author and her short, easy, fun reads. My only complaint is, I read a paragraph over and over again, and I still cannot understand/picture what she’s trying to portray (typically in the fight scenes where Trixie is in a shooting battle). So, I just make up my own fight scene and continue on to enjoy the story!
I want to note that as a person who owns Great Danes, I find it very annoying when people continuously refer to them as cows, horses, bears, etc. like throughout the first book her friend Mal has Great Danes and she doesn’t refer to them as cows until she has the one in her house. To me, it’s very annoying.
Only 2 books yet available BUT still worth it. I live longgggggg book series, 10-25 books long is fine. This is good story with honest humor, not overly graphic so you can just enjoy the ride, then lament there is only 2 books out so far……..aaaah!
