A Man for Mrs. Claus

Rate this book
A new stand-alone holiday romance from award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon...

Running the North Pole and making good on the promise of comfort and joy for a few billion people is no simple two-step around the Christmas tree. Mr. and Mrs. Claus have always worked in tandem to do just that so when her third husband realizes it’s time to peace out and move on to more Heavenly pastures, the angels and all the elves know what time it is. They need to find Tiffany Saint-Nicholas a new man.

With the holiday calendar slowing down for no one, her team has three days to find her a new Santa. Someone kind, loving and willing to take on the spirit of the season, and with the potential to hopefully be Tiffany’s first true love match. Tiffany thinks that idea is cute and all, and so are the men they line up for her. But she knows delivering on their Christmas obligations is what really matters, not the chemistry she might have with the candidates in question. Too bad one respective Santa will stop at nothing to show her and the rest of the North Pole population that no amount of silver or gold is more important than winning Tiffany’s heart.

when i made the prompt "how dare you" for my 2024 superlatives, little did i know the top contender would squeak in on 12/31/24

HOW DARE this santa romance make me feel so many poignant emotions!? it was wonderful, complex, and so sweet. the amount of world building too?! if we could be so blessed i would love to see the author write more in this 'verse please and thank you.

i was expecting a bachelorette // love island style horny holiday romp but got that AND some wistfulness, some grief, a whole lot of joy, and a north pole full of fun and loveable characters both human and animal.

3.5 stars, rounded up

I love Weatherspoon's books so much, but I've been holding back on her backlist as I only have a few books left. I was more than happy to jump on this one, especially because Wrapped, another Christmas novella of hers, is a favorite. It does not disappoint!

250 pages isn't a lot of time to build a world, but this one is fleshed out just enough to hang together. The side characters are fun, and most manage to not be one-dimensional. While there is a plot moppet he spends so little time on page that even I was able to forgive.

The strength of the story is Dominick's point of view. He's been through a lot but has finally come into his own as a firefighter, only to have this massive change thrust upon him. He's a grounded guy, and a great fish-out-of-water to introduce us to the North Pole. Tiffany is going through a transition of her own, bringing up wishes and desires that may be impossible to fulfill, considering the gravity of the situation, and she's wrestling with that.

In some ways Mrs. Claus reminds me of Harbor in the way that there's a bunch of processing to be done. Now, that is a very different book, with waaaaay more BDSM and trauma, but both got me into my feels in a way that's cathartic (to me, ymmv ofc).

While there is on page sex it's not has explicit as some other Weatherspoon titles. It felt like they were pulling punches, maybe for page count and pacing as much as anything else. Not bad, it fits, but just so you know.

Overall A Man for Mrs. Claus is a heartfelt, sexy read for when you want go get into a holiday mood.

This is basically The Bachelorette at the North Pole. In this world, Mrs. Claus is a constant, and it's Santa who is the rotating cast of characters. Chosen from a selection of dead people, the Santas stay Santa until they're "called up" -- usually when a loved one finally dies and they can be together. So, Mrs. Claus (Tiffany to her friends) just lost her Santa, and her elves choose a few hot dead men from which the Christmas Spirit (among other factors) will choose the new Santa.

That's a good setup for this long novella (212 pages), because it's clear from early on that Tiffany and Dominick, one of the dudes, are 100% meant for each other. Normally, this would result in zero stakes and therefore zero tension, but Mrs. Claus hasn't traditionally had a say (or not much of one, anyway) in the Santa selection. This plot device, among other things we learn about Tiffany, lends emotional depth to the story, too.

I do think there wasn't quite enough plot for this number of pages, but it was a super enjoyable holiday read.

What a fantastic way to end 2024!! That was soo dang good! I loved this take on Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the elves and the North Pole. For the most part, - there was a wee bit of darkness- this was all joy and had me smiling from ear to ear at the end. Happy reading!

No I did cry at the magic of Christmas I don’t know what you’re talking about
Also she’s either from LA or talked to someone from LA before this because CORRECT no one here will EVER call it crypto arena. It’s staples center. End of story

Audiobook. Library. I am a Rebekah fan and was excited to hear this one was on audio. After a bunch of mediocre Smutmas books this one was really fun. I was not expecting the more PNR-adjacent vibes but it really worked. I loved the characters and all the magical creatures and animals. A fun, quick, Christmasy read.

How did this book manage to be soft and sweet and tender and poignant and adorable and really really steamy!!? What kind of magic has Rebekah Weatherspoon wrought?!? The book starts with firefighter hero Dominick dying (yes, that’s right, he dies in the beginning) and then his afterlife gives him a choice: he can go on to the good place (the ACTUAL good place) and become an angel OR, he can spend his afterlife in the real North Pole as…Santa Claus. Of course, he’s not the only contender for this role so it’s sort of like North Pole Bachelor, except Dominick ends up falling for Mrs. Claus IMMEDIATELY and unlike actual bachelor contestants, he is also there to make friends. The holiday spirit is alive and well in Dominick as he battles his jealousy over the other 3 contestants and finds himself celebrating their triumphs (ok, not Brendan, he was the worst, clearly NOT there to make friends) while trying to romance Tiffany Saint-Nicholas. The side characters are great and the heroine is a competent, beloved force of nature and gets herself a man who loves and adores her and worships the ground she walks on. What an awesome book to start the year with!

Loved the world building!
…and Elf on the Shelf was referred to as “that little narc” so that line won me over!

Admittedly, I didn't realize this was a paranormal holiday romance until I read the author's note after purchasing the book (a special edition with painted edges, might I add). I mainly saw the cover + author and got excited 😊 so the genre is a nice surprise. I loved that the book focused on the FMC Mrs. Claus running the North Pole, with Santa being a partner. Also the MMC is from my neck of the woods, I knew every place he talked about. Although a transplant, the author dropped a lot of LA thoughts into the book. Respect. Such a sweet and spicy story, giving a fun The Bachelorette x Christmas mashup. Kept me satisfied and smiling. That's what she said.

“That Elf on the Shelf guy. Is he here?” “Uh, no. That little narc works with Krampus, who is also real. You won’t be meeting many other entities, but you will meet Krampus.”

This was a delight! Clocking in at just around 250 pages, this managed to have amazing world building, charming characters, a ton of diversity, plenty of spice, lots of heart, and plenty of Christmas magic without being too cheesy. I definitely want to find more by this author!

THE Best Christmas romance ever.

Re-reading this book is going to join cookie baking, watching Rudolph and Elf, music playlists, tree decorating, family phone calls, and solstice celebrations as part of my annual Christmas season joys. It’s that good.

Also, I don’t think a romance has ever made me sob more. What a delight this book is. Maybe Ms. Weatherspoon can be an honorary Mrs Claus and someday live in this world she created. Is that too weird? I hope not. At any rate it looks like this book was as much fun to write as it was to read. This book goes straight to the heart.

First of all, Dominick is such a DADDY. Oh man. He’s all love and caretaking. Ms Weatherspoon, can you make a Christmas ornament of Nick holding Farrah on his hip? It needs to happen. Seriously. That image slayed me.

And second of all, my heart went out to Mrs Claus. Affection and companionship are great, but passion, love, respect, and worship are so much better. She deserves it.

All the rest of the secondary characters are gold too. OMG Chris. Darling. You’re so fabbulous. I don’t buy one character reveal, but that’s my only quibble.

Yah, I know it’s almost February, but when a friend recommended this book I was burnt out on Christmas and Krampus (ahem) romances. I’m so glad I didn’t wait any longer to read it.

I also wasn’t sure I was ready for a sexy Santa. As an icon of Christmas he was always completely asexual for me. The book builds that earthy aspect of both of them so perfectly.

Highly recommended.

What a fantastic holiday romance! The world building was so neat - such a great imagining of the North Pole. I really adored all the side characters and fully bought into the main couple's romance. So amusing to make it a Bachelorette-style approach to finding a new Mr. Claus. I loved what the source of tension in the story ended up being and the low level of drama, which made it extra perfect to read on Christmas Day. Highly, highly recommend!

3.5 ⭐️

this was cute! however, it didnt start getting really interesting to me until a little over halfway through the book. but once it did, i was here for it!

the concept of a "The Bachelorette" styled comepetition to win Mrs. Claus’ heart?! super cute. and i need TV-One or BET to start the process of making this a movie. (because let’s be honest, Hallmark would cast Tamera and we need another Black actress. love her. but no. 😂)

A bachelorette style Christmas story. I really enjoyed the characters and the fun plot. This felt like the perfect amount of character development, plot and smut. Call me Goldilocks because I didn’t need any more of any less. It was just right!

Yummy and fun

This book was all kinds of yummy!!! This is a fun take on what really happens in the North Pole. In this story, Mrs Claus, Tiffany, is seeking a new Santa. There are 5 new options and collectively she and few entities must choose the next big fit.

The hero, Dominick, was a firefighter on Earth and doesn't know what he's gotten into right away. All he knows is that he's instantly intrigued by Tiffany. I loved the dual POVs because I really needed to hear each side of this fun story. You see, Dominick and the other men have to prove whether they fit to be the new Santa. Not only do they have to fit well with Tiffany, but they also have to embody everything that Santa stands for.

This book has fun moments when Dominick explores the North Pole, discovers how the daily operations work, and tries his best to learn all the ways that Tiffany ticks. I love that this author made me feel fully immersed in the story, and how I was #TeamDominick right away. I needed my girl Tiffany to find a good man for her, not the world, and he was so perfect.

“I feel like she’s mine already and I’m definitely hers.”

Dominick did not play about Tiffany aka Mrs. Clause at all and we loved to see it!

This story has so much more to offer than I thought. From the beginning, I loved the set up of the world. Like there was necessary world building moments that made the story even more interesting!

While it was clear who would be getting the crown at the end, I so enjoyed the journey to the HEA. I'm a sucker for a story with amazing side characters. Shout-out Chris and Shauna!

Tiffany deserves the world and so happy Dominick is there to give it to her💕

Need to tap into Ms. Rebekah's catalogue!

The magic, concept, and world building in this story was so incredible. Everything about the North Pole and who lives there was so perfect. One of the most magical Christmas romance stories I’ve read in a while. A little bit sad but also hopeful. The kind you can read every year. I think for me it would have been better if there was a little less doubt?!? Idk maybe it was just that I loved when Dominick and Tiffany were together and didn’t like when the other guys were getting time lol.

I got so much more than I expected with this one!

A Man for Mrs. Claus came with a little bit of everything that I like: Black main characters, decent voice acting, magic, Christmas, romance, fun characters, stunning, imaginative visual cues, cute animals, humor, drag queen's, and a dash of spice!

Wow!

So good, I didn't want it to end.

A Man for Mrs. Claus is the perfect mashup of the bachelorette and the santa clause 2!
Rebekah did a good job of making this story inclusive and wholesome for the holidays. The lore used to describe the process and the plotting was very entertaining. Drag Queens and elvish things… a new man for Mrs Claus death and angels bring.

I would recommend this for anyone prepping for the holidays and need something low stakes to listen to while wrapping gifts.
