Fake dating the town's golden boy when we're total opposites is risky. But falling for him is even worse.
My new neighbor, Waylon Stryker is Jepsen’s most eligible bachelor - gorgeous, built, and kindhearted. I stick out like an LA-shaped thumb in this small town after inheriting a dilapidated house and tiny dog.
But when I need my ex to back off and he needs his family to stop pressuring him to settle down, Waylon comes up with the perfect solution — a fake relationship.
It would have been perfectly transactional if I hadn't drunkenly told him about my spicy bucket list. I prayed he’d forget about it. Instead, he vows to help me check off each task.
Turns out the kind veterinarian who lets kittens fall asleep in his shirt pocket has a dirty mouth and sinfully skilled hands.
But this has to stay fake, no matter how much we connect outside the bedroom too. Jepsen—and Waylon—were only ever meant to be temporary. Can someone tell my heart that?
ੈ♡˳ summary: just the tipsy by audrey vaughn is a small-town romance set in jepsen, georgia, and kicks off the stryker family series. the story follows waylon stryker, the charming town golden boy, and his new neighbor, who come up with a fake dating arrangement that—of course—starts to blur into something real. with meddling family members, small-town drama, and unexpected feelings, the line between fake and real gets harder and harder to keep straight.
ੈ♡˳ thoughts: i liked this book! it had a lot of charm, and waylon was such an easy hero to root for. that said, i really wish the bwwm aspect of the story had been more prominent—especially considering the setting in the deep south. it felt like there was a real opportunity to dig into the dynamics of their relationship a little more, and it just wasn’t explored the way i was hoping. it’s not that the book ignored it entirely, but it definitely stayed surface-level when it could’ve added so much more depth.
the pacing also threw me off a little. everything moved a lot faster than i expected. i love a quick, easy read, but this almost moved too fast for the romance to fully settle in. and the spice?? honestly, kind of lackluster. the sex scenes weren’t bad, but they didn’t really bring the heat the way the setup suggested they would. i definitely wanted more emotional intensity and more physical tension between them.
other readers on goodreads felt similarly—loving the idea of the story and the setting, but wanting more from the execution. it’s a fun read if you’re looking for something light and sweet, but it didn’t totally hit that deeper emotional mark for me.
ੈ♡˳ tropes: ꕥ small-town romance ꕥ fake dating ꕥ neighbors to lovers ꕥ big family meddling ꕥ “golden boy” hero

We follow Bianca, who moves to a small town into a house she inherited after finding out that not only did her boyfriend cheat on her, but he was with her only because her dad is one of the best music producers out there.
Waylon is the town veterinarian and the town's most eligible bachelor. Everyone has nothing but nice things to say about him. But he’s not too happy with the pressure his mom puts on him, especially when it comes to dating. So when Bianca walks into his clinic to pick up her great-aunt’s dog, he comes up with a brilliant idea: fake a relationship with her to get his mom off his back and help Bianca deal with her ex, so he’ll leave her alone. On top of that, he’s also her neighbor! It can't help that he finds her gorgeous and that he can't help but be drawn to her!
I loved the fake dating trope in this. There was so much chemistry between the two, it was impossible not to smile while reading the whole book. The pressure Waylon’s mom puts on him feels so real, and you totally get why he thinks faking a relationship with Bianca is a good idea, even if it means lying to his mom (and pretty much everyone else). He's such a people pleaser and an overachiever(even in the bedroom like... could he be any more perfect ???), I felt a weird sense of pride when he decided to stand up for himself even if it was through a lie. Also, being someone who used to be pressured in similar ways when I was younger, I really appreciated getting to read Waylon's experience, feelings and thoughts about the situation.
"It's like a processional where they're all getting a little blessing from the dog pope. Is this man like Snow White, just summoning dogs?"
Both characters' development was spot on. Bianca is such a well-written, multi-dimensional character. I especially loved that she’s a model but kinda hates it. It adds a really interesting layer and, in my opinion, gives a more realistic take on what modelling and social media are really like for many women.
Self-growth and self-discovery are at the heart of this story! Not only do both characters grow and slowly open their hearts to each other, but we also get to see some fun experimenting in the bedroom. Waylon is so patient while still being super eager to check things off Bianca’s bucket list—it’s actually really cute! (and hot, ofc!!)
Another thing I absolutely adored was how the author handled Bianca being a Black woman moving to a small town. I can’t think of another book I’ve read where there’s any kind of representation in a small-town setting, but in this one, it’s not even something that needs to be pointed out. In fact, Bianca’s not the only POC in town! Normally, when I read a small-town romance, I expect at least one or two characters to be bigots, but not here! Everyone was so genuinely kind and welcoming—it made me feel all warm inside.
We definitely need more romance novels with POC main characters that tackle themes like racism and the struggles that come with it. But we also need more cozy books where differences (in any way, not just skin color!) don’t make it hard for characters to live, build relationships, or succeed in their careers. Honestly, if real life were like it is in their town, the world would be so much better fr.
I also loved the dogs—they’re so cute!!! I kind of feel like they have their own little romance going on too lmao
The only thing that could have made this a 5-star read for me would’ve been a bit more pining and tension. They start fake dating pretty early, and once they do, it feels like they’re already a real couple. I didn’t get enough of that "There’s no way this could turn into anything more than fake dating" vibe. We get their internal monologues, yes, but they feel like a couple from the start, which made it a little less impactful (for me) when they admitted to themselves that they were in love.
My fav quotes :
"Bianca was right about one thing - I'm a bit of an overachiever. And fucking isn't any different."
I don't fuck up a lot, but apparently, when I do, I fuck up in multiple ways, as hard as possible."

It was a fine cute read, but idk something about the writing felt a lot like telling me vs showing me. I also felt like I didn’t know much below the surface of either of the main characters by 75% of the way in so I decided to call it quits.
This story was boring. The characters fell flat and the author kept going in circles with the main character’s problems.
We never see Bianca find herself or come into her own via establishing her business. She just kept lamenting about the hardships of being a semi-famous model with semi-famous parents with a crappy semi-famous ex who used her for her family's connections. We never see her develop into a strong entrepreneur who figured life out on her own terms in spite of her circumstances and setbacks as she desired. She just sleeps with Waylon, complains to him about the bad hand life dealt her, and then she gets the life she wants in the epilogue. There is literally no journey.
Waylon is the same. He never grows a backbone with his mother who constantly imposes her will on him and crosses his boundaries. He just sleeps with Bianca, complains about his overbearing mother, complains about his overachieving personality stoked by his mother (and other adults) from childhood, and also his past disastrous relationship. There's no real moment where he stands up for himself and sets his mother straight. We don't see him take his own journey in learning how to say no to his mother and mean it (they just have glaring matches which she wins). In the end, he and his mother just have a heart-to-heart that "fixes" everything between them, and they move forward.
The only thing more irksome than these letdowns is the fact that Bianca and Waylon have an oh-so-typical breakup scene, which gets mended in a few short words🙄.
It was all so basic, easy, and convenient, which ultimately made this novel unengaging.
I really think the fate dating in this book was unnecessary. IMO theres never a good enough reason for you to need to “fake date someone.” But I went into this book open minded to see how this author would apply her own take on the trope. Sadly this was nothing that we haven’t seen before. The characters are boring. The spice is flat. Dialogue is cringe & clunky.
The leads were both interested in each other from their first meeting, so the author could’ve passed this off as them just regular ole dating!!!!!!!!!!!! Not every book needs to have the characters faking it I promise.
first of all, i’d like to start with thanking Audrey for gifting me this book. i was part of the ARC team, so thankyou so so much for this opportunity!
after reading audrey’s first book ‘sips about to go down’, i was so excited when this book came out and i couldn’t wait to start reading it. this book did not disappoint, it was such a easy, cute story and i absolutely loved Bianca and Waylon together.
The story line was great, even though i question if the fake dating was really necessary? anyway, it was really fun to read about and ofcourse from the beginning of their fake dating, you know they’ll catch feelings for each other and it was really fun to read how to got to know each other better and better during the book. i also think that there’s a lot of personal struggles that both characters have to deal with, from trust issues to a annoying ex, it has it all and for me it made the story more interesting cause there was always something going on, but not too much, just the perfect amount lf drama.
waylon helps bianca experience things of her bucket list, by helping and allowing her to do thins she has never had done before. i loved that idea and it definitely made the book more interesting. and there also was some spice involved with the bucket list. i really liked that too, it felt like it wasn’t forced at all and just happened kind of naturally without any awkwardness, loved that.
one little thing that i wasn’t really a fan of was the kind of break up at the end of the book. i knew it was coming, but it felt a bit rushed and out of character? like, waylon is such a good guy with a heart of gold, and i don’t think he’ll hurt bianca in a way he did now. it made perfect sense with the story, but it felt like it was a bit rushed because the break up had to happen in the story. it seemed a bit forced to me, and they got back together really quickly too, which made sense but i don’t know if the break up was really necessary.
overall, it was a cute and fast paced read. i definitely enjoyed it and i can’t wait to read more books from audrey since she definitely has talent!
Honestly, how can you not fall in love with Waylon 😍 He’s so swoon worthy. The chemistry between him and Bianca is SO good. I couldn’t peel my eyes from the spice between them, this book is definitely a page turner but it makes you crave more from these two once it’s complete. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Audrey Vaughn’s Just the Tipsy is a delightful romance that had me swooning from the start! Bianca and Waylon’s story is equal parts heartwarming, steamy, and emotionally resonant.
Bianca, often mistaken as an "ice queen," is actually a shy and guarded woman, a trait I deeply related to. Waylon, with his sweet and caring nature, immediately saw through her exterior to the thoughtful and perceptive person she truly is. Their fake dating arrangement—born out of his mom’s meddling and her need to distance herself from an ex—sets the stage for a romance that is as fluffy as it is passionate.
The chemistry between Bianca and Waylon was off the charts, with steam that was both intense and meaningful. I loved how Waylon helped Bianca see her worth and introduced her to new experiences, gently encouraging her to embrace her true self. The supporting characters, especially Waylon’s family and friends, added a rich layer of warmth and authenticity to the story. Bianca’s journey of finding a found family and building genuine connections was beautifully done.
My only wish is that the ending gave us just a bit more time with these amazing characters. Otherwise, this book was perfection! If you’re a fan of fake dating, opposites-attract dynamics, and a love story that’s as tender as it is spicy, Just the Tipsy is a must-read.

Just the Tipsy follows Waylon and Bianca, who become fast friends and decide to fake date to help each other out. Waylon wants to get his mother off his back about putting himself back on the dating scene after a disastrous breakup, and Bianca needs someone to help her fulfill her bucket lists, particularly her sex bucket list, with no strings attached. It's a win-win, but the lines for a casual friendship, who sometimes hook up, quickly become blurred when Waylon and Bianca soon develop feelings for one another.
While I really enjoyed the author's novella and debut novel, I can't say the same about this one, unfortunately. I found myself engaged in the beginning, but that slowly changed. I couldn't tell you exactly what it was, but overall, there was some sort of disconnect for me. This wasn't a deal breaker, but it did give me the ick when he called her "princess" during their times of intimacy. And the amount of times the word c-ck was used was a bit repetitious.
What I did love was the title for one! 🤭 How much of a golden retriever Waylon was and especially when he finally confronted his mother about how pressuring she'd been. I loved that Bianca felt she was able to be her true self around him (and vice versa) and that he made her feel safe enough to vocalize to him what she needed sexually while checking off her bucket list. And kind of random, but I also appreciated that the fmc was tall for once! Waylon's best friends were the ones who cracked me up most because of their banter, but I think the best characters were the pups. 🤍
Even though this didn't work out for me this time, I still look forward to reading what this author writes next. 🤍

Thank you to the author for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Okay I liked this book! It was a fast pace read for me which i loved. And the * fake relationship* trope was cute and i understand the idea, but i did not think that it was really neccesary because they just could hang out and or date casually like they agreed to, without faking it.
I loved their relationship though! Bianca & Waylon are so adorable togheter ugh! And i also loved how their relationship grew in this story.
I also loved the cute cozy moments between them, followed by alot of spice! The spice scenes were good! One thing that threw me off though was waylon calling bianca "princess" but the spice was spicing 😆
The situation with waylons mom was real! I feel like this was also a great way for him to grow into himself more and i loved how he handled it in the end.
Talking about the end! So Adorable! I think it was a great end and new start for those two!
I finished the book with a smile on my face 🥰
Thank you Audrey for letting me be a part of your arc team i really enjoyed the book! 🩷
Thai book was so cute. I really enjoyed Waylon and Bianca. Bianca takes a trip to Jepsen, Tennessee to deal with the house and little dog that her deceased aunt Gloria left to her. Little did she expect she would meet the handsome and gorgeous vet Waylon. As soon as these two met, the chemistry and attraction was there. Waylon was such a sweetheart, always trying his best to overachieve and become the best due to the high expectations of his mom. Waylon and
Bianca agree to have a fake relationship, which quickly turns to real. Unknowingly these two healed each other’s past wounds. I loved how Waylon was always attentive and showing Bianca that she was worth so much more than just her job and what other people placed on her. If your looking for a spicy, lighthearted read then this one is for you.
I received an ARC copy and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Just The Tipsy is another great story in The Stryker family series. This book follows Waylon and Bianca and their fake dating but instant attraction story. We meet Waylon in book one, he's Wes' twin brother and town veterinarian. Bianca moves to town after her great aunt passes and her ex cheats on her. They have an instant spark but both are guarded. They decide to fake date to make his mom happy and get her ex to leave her alone. The more time they spend together, the more real it becomes. Issues from both of their past come back around but can they stay strong? Will their fake relationship become real?
So cute! I loved Wes and Rose’s story, but I think I like Waylon and Bianca even better. I really enjoyed the personal aspects they both grew from and through, all of the impacts that relationships, our families and society can have on us. It was also fun to see more of the Stryker family. Knowing a couple of those aunts myself really brought this to life in a funny, flinchy way.
This also led to this series’ novella, with Sabrina and Jasper’s backstory, which was great fun since there had been some jokes and references on the books.
I’m loving this family and their world and can’t wait for my next visit!
It was a cute read but I couldn't connect with the story and the characters. It began well, but then it went downhill. Felt like there wasn't much happening. Before I knew it, I was halfway through the book, and then I was at 98%. Despite all that, I liked the vibes - small town, lots of pets, opposites attract - it was cozy. Thank you, BookSirens and Audrey, for the e-ARC.
TROPES: Fake dating Friends with benefits Small town Opposites attract Spicy bucket list
4.5 ⭐️!! I absolutely adored this book. Bianca and Waylen were such wholesome characters and I loved reading their story. I am usually not a fan of spice, but I actually enjoyed the spice in this book. It didn’t feel overdone and added to the chemistry between the characters. Thank you to the author for allowing me to be a part of her ARC team and get an early copy of the book. 💖
I’m avoiding WWIII, the news, the world, and people in general if I can help it. Therefore here I am in a fictional small-town just hoping two people get it together and fall in love. It was cute.
A cute, albeit simple hallmark romance. A bit cliche and a few grammatical errors, but I did love the connection between Bianca and Waylon, and the friendship between Bianca and the other girls. I’d recommend if you’re looking for a quick beach read
The main character is Bianca, who moves to Jepson after her aunt passes away and leaves her a house and a dog. Wesley, her neighbor, is a vet who helps her not only with the renovation but also with a certain bucket list…
The story touches on fake dating, drunk make-out sessions, a toxic ex-boyfriend, and much more.
Bianca is a genuine and relatable character. I enjoyed following her bucket list and her bond with her new dog. Reading about her growing friendship with Jada was also heartwarming. Her ex? I wouldn’t even wish a guy like that on my worst enemies.
Wesley, on the other hand, is… well, you know. Why does he crave his mother’s approval so much? It’s giving major mommy issues. And fake dating just to be Mom’s good boy? Seriously? Also, I didn’t need a full backstory for every cat. We get it – he’s a vet and loves animals – but sometimes less is more.
All in all, the story is entertaining, spicy, and easy to read. I especially loved that Bianca is not the only Black character in the book. What’s more, I appreciated how each character developed over time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (3 out of 5 stars) The book is fun and easy to read, with some memorable moments. However, certain character choices and unnecessary details held it back for me.

Fake dating trope is actually the stupidest thing ever it’s quite enraging also who is saying to their fake boyf pls teach me how to fuck like Jesus. I know it’s fiction but it’s just ridiculous. This book was also just her POV “omg I’m falling for him but he doesn’t want me that way” and his pov “omg I’m falling for her but she doesn’t want me that way” JUST FUCKING TALK TO EACH OTHER. I’ve actually never wanted to climb into a book a fight a character more than when waylon rejected her after saying LITERALLY THE CHAPTER BEFORE he was gonna admit his feelings, like WHAT are you sick in the head?????
OMG! After reading "Sips About to Go Down" I knew I needed to read more of this author. SHE IS AMAZING! Audrey Vaughn’s "Just the Tipsy" is a quirky and entertaining romantic comedy. The witty banter and laugh-out-loud moments make this a delightful read. Waylon and Bianca have my heart! ♥
