This is the fourth book in the Dark Provenance series and features Ezra and Kay. It is a standalone but I definitely suggest you at least read their prequel for their backstory. Reading the other books in this series will give you a better understanding of the world and the players.

Kay (a demon halfing) is left in Hell with her father by Archangel Ezra who tricked her and bonded with her for life to save the balance of the world. Ezra's motivations were selfless...sure...kind of...but he left his mate in hell for a very long time and she has used that time to improve herself and one day come back and kill Ezra for breaking her heart.

Ezra doesn't regret leaving Kay in Hell but he has also suffered greatly for the act and when Kay returns for vengeance and sets a string of events in motion, the two of them have to work together to right the wrongs. In the process, their connection begins to grow and the hate they thought they felt for each other turns into something far deeper and meaningful. However, something is on the horizon and they are in for the fight of their lives. Will they trust each other enough to make it out alive? Kay has more power than she thinks and when the chips fall into place, her true destiny is revealed. But will Ezra have the guts to seize a future with her this time?

I liked this a lot but there were some moments where it dragged and I felt like there was information dump. The enemies-to-lovers trope was done well but the switch did flip rather quickly. That being said, I questioned Ezra's true affection and devotion to Kay for a hot minute because he was so adamant that he didn't regret the decisions he made in the past. Kay made mistakes just as Ezra did but I guess I wanted a little more groveling from Ezra's end because Kay saved his ass at least twice.

The steam in here as usual with a Foss book was delicious and dirty and I liked the set up for the next book. Both Ezra and Kay were strong characters with grit and I enjoyed how they grew together as both mates and friends. Overall, a pretty good installment in this world with only a few annoyances here and there.

A real quick note to the author - how can you possibly threaten to end this series with the next book??? There is so much left to say, to explore, to play with.

Over a millennium ago Ezra used Kay - Went as far as to form a bond with her - to ensure the balance was kept.
Then when he was done needing her he left her in he ll

Now she's back and that saying about a woman scorned?? 😂

Kay's plan to get Ezra's attention backfires and all holy Hades breaks loose
Kay is forced into putting aside (temporarily) her mission to nix Ezra so they can find out who is trying to destroy the veil and stop them before it is too late

Things end up going bum over tea kettle as enemies appear where none can be seen, allies become suspects, tempers flare, chemistry ignites, needs call...

This was packed with action, twists you don't see coming, betrayal, suspense, knives, and lots of friction 😂

Thousands of years (Hell-years) after the Archangel of Justice, Ezra,bound her to him as his mate and left her to rot in Hell, Kayla is ready to finally get vengeance on the idiot Archangel. Because she has a grip on her powers now and tearing a hole in the veil will definitely get is attention, drawing him and his precious divinities out of their place of hiding. But when the moment comes, one of the divinities is taken by a mysterious force and later found dead in the woods. Now the only people able to find the culprits are Ezra and Kayla, but all depends on their ability to find each other again.

Pro's:
+ In this series multiple books move along the same timeline and with every entry you get more pieces to the puzzle of who is behind the chaos in the world. I really like these multiple perspectives on the same timeline and it definitely makes these books really unique.
+ I loved the way this book really takes in the events of the novella and runs with them. Even though there were some books in beween, the feel of the characters and they snark stayed the same. It way just the continuation of these two great characters.
+ There is some gorgeous art in this book and I really wanted to mention that and bring it it under attention. I want more pretty art in paranormal novels to celebrate characters.

Con's:
- Could be me, but I felt like, taking in everything that happened between Ezra & Kayla, that them forgiving each other came a bit too early for me. I feel like there could have been a bit more too it.

Another great entry in the series and FINALLY we have the follow-up the novel once promised us. Reading back my review for the novella ( Heiress of Bael) let me realize how long we actually had to wait for this book. But it is well worth the wait, it was very entertaining and very easy to read through. Loved the progression on the characters and their romance, but most of all all the action scenes we go though. Loved the detail in the art in this book and I will definitely pick up the next book when it releases.

Delicious!

This world is FIRE! I knew going in that Princess of Bael would be good because this author never writes a bad book. However I wasn’t expecting to fall in love again with this world, as hard as I did.

I loved Ezra and I even loved Kayla! Kayla’s spirit and tenacity was BADA$$!! She had this mission in the beginning and nothing was going to stand in her way. And obviously as the story progresses things are definitely not as they seem and her mission wanes! However she never loses that attitude and determination to put things right.

Ezra had me caught in his very delectable angel feathers! So much so I never wanted to leave. He’s fierce, true and sexy as hell! Forgive the pun! He just exudes masculinity. As with Kayla, he’s determined. And I love that side to both characters!

The overall plot was such that it completely encased me and made me want to stay forever. I will never get over this authors ability to drag you into these worlds of wonder, decadence and awe.

I fell in love. Again! I have so many book boyfriends and girlfriends but what’s a couple more?

Highly recommend!

As a side note: ASHMEDAI!! Can’t wait for his story! Already feeling that swoonage! 😍

Princess of Bael by Lexi C. Foss is an enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett, Walker Williams, and Kale Williams. This is the fourth book in the Dark Provenance series and can be read as a standalone.

I love this series! I really enjoyed the romance, drama, and action that surrounded Ezra and Kay. I loved that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Sarah, Walker, and Kale did an amazing job on the narration. They really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like enemies-to-lovers romances or paranormal romances.

Puckett, in particular, delivers a standout performance, capturing the character's strength and vulnerability in equal measure. This is a thrilling and engaging audiobook that appeals to paranormal romance fans. With its exciting plot, richly drawn characters, and top-notch narration, it's a must-listen for anyone who loves a good fantasy romance.

This book started stronger than it finished. The pace dragged in places, my curiosity about how the events of the plot unfolds drove me to keep reading rather than actual engagement with the main characters in the story. Their chemistry is questionable, they never really felt like they fit together…also begged the question about these mated bonds. In this case it sounded like he just bonded her just because she was useful and that’s all it takes to make someone your destined mate for the rest of eternity. Also never explained why he couldn’t sleep with anyone else after he abandons her in hell, just says he can’t…but that wasn’t the case with eve and Xai unless I’m missing something that wasn’t made that clear. Also there was so much metaphysical and internal dialogue during the sex scenes that I just skimmed through them by the end (I never do that!)(it’s a good illustration of how disengaged Iwas with their story by that point).
Also it eventually gets really boring how she goes on and on about him not abandoning her again, even after she comes into all her new powers and is supposed to be a badass bitch.
Unfortunately this is not a proper standalone book, you really need to have read the novella about when they first met to give thus story proper context or it never makes sense why she was left in hell and why she gives so much of a shit about killing him even though thousands of years have passed for her in hell.

3.5 stars. Despite this being a stand-alone, in actuality, this is part of the dark provenance series and w/o reading the rest of the series I think a reader can be thrown off and a little confused

The book wasn't bad but I was hoping it was better. This is labeled as a stand-alone but there are many characters that have already been introduced in the previous few books and though this book contains a mystery/adventure w in itself, the book is still only a subset of the entire book. In fact, the entire series culminates into the veil falling.

To give a bit of context, prev I finished 'Daughter of Death' https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4403547125?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1 which was book #1 in this series and because i wasn't into reading about multiple lovers i skipped book 3. But to prepare myself for the 4th book (this), i did read Heiress of Bael which i really recommend, good intro into the characters . Now, the start of book 4 was great, basically a continuation of the prequel but towards the end i felt that it got more confusing, so many names were being introduced and it was as though the author expected us to just be able to fit these characters into the plot seamlessly. Perhaps if you've been consistent in reading the series in order and in its entirety then its easier to follow. So to sum this part up, if you really want to immerse yourself and not be left confused or irritated at how theres so much info to grasp suddenly then invest a little time to read book 1 to 3 > then book 0.5 > you will be ready for book 4. TBH, this isn't the fault of the author, this was a trade off i should have expected when i decided to skip prev books + I wasn't expecting a heavier book in terms of the character and plot.

Now moving on to the parts that I liked:
#1: Interesting premise. The book starts off with how Kay was tricked by Ezra, the Archangel of Justice to form a blood bond that mated them for life. Then Ezra basically used Kay as a bargaining chip to get back Jo a fellow archangel/ teammate/ friend. This obv enrages Kay and in her time in Hell was fuelled by a rage to Ezra for the betrayal. Ofc this made for a very interesting start, you have the main character spending decades, centuries to hone her skillset becoming from a daisy to a steel blade. Firstly this made Kay extremely sexy, her confidence and growth made me really like her. So i was really thrown into the book.

#2: Character growth; Kay started out hell-bent on revenge and eventually her blood thirst eased and we see how there were spurts of character growth.

#3: Dual POV

Going to the cons
#1: As mentioned above, I was really excited by the premise but I feel that the author didn't make Ezra grovel enough. Kay forgave Ezra too easily in my opinion. Also, i wished that we saw more of Kay's tough side. For a girl that spent so long hating Ezra and training and honing her skillsets, she was still quite weak... I understood the reason for this because these were all necessary for the later part of the book but damm... Wished that this entire revenge, blood thirsty phase was explored more.

#2: Ezra, honestly i felt quite lukewarm to him... I rationalize that the dual POV was so that we could see Ezra's character and maybe symphatize w him and his actions. But beyond the soul bond, the attrraction i didnt feel like the character match or were just right for each other... It wasn't like book 1, Eve and Xia, i loved their story because there were so many actions that Xia took behind the scene but Ezra apart from his self inflicted suffering i dont see how he really redeemed himself in Kay's eyes and she forgave him too fast. Like come on if you painted him out so badly initally shouldn't he have to do more to earn Kay's love???

Overall i think this book could have been better, felt it missed a lot of the moments that i enjoyed from book 1. Will be giving the last book a miss because i'm quite bored of the whole soul mate > immediate sexual chemistry, cryptic alpha type.

Confinata per un tempo lunghissimo all’Inferno Kayla, principessa figlia dell’arcidiavolo Bael, ha giurato vendetta nei confronti dell’arcangelo che l’ha ingannata e abbandonata. Ora che finalmente se lo ritrova davanti, il suo unico desiderio è piantargli un pugnale nel cuore e lasciarlo morire lentamente tra atroci sofferenze, facendogli rimpiangere sia l’abbandono, sia il fatto di averle imposto un legame che lei non desiderava… o forse si?

Peccato non fosse più la docile Mezzosangue che avevo manipolato senza alcuno sforzo in passato. Era una donna con una brama di vendetta millenaria, in pieno potere delle sue abilità demoniache. Va bene, mia dolce metà, pensai con sguardo vigile, mentre lei si metteva in posizione da combattimento. Si balla.

Ezra a stento riconosce la donna che ha davanti e che rappresenta quella metà del suo mondo che si è lasciato alle spalle per perseguire il suo dovere di arcangelo e tutelare l’equilibrio.

L’aver rinnegato Kayla lo ha reso menomato nello spirito, venendo a mancare quel legame che avrebbe dovuto unire le loro essenze e che invece lui ha deciso di recidere.

L’odio che il demone prova nei suoi confronti, ne è consapevole, è più che giustificato ed è proprio la voglia di vendetta di Kayla che li riporterà vicini, vittime di una serie di eventi non innescati da loro, ma in cui saranno loro malgrado coinvolti.

La vicinanza forzata a cui saranno obbligati li costringerà a prendere atto che il legame tra loro è vivo e vegeto e che entrambi ne dovranno trarre forza per affrontare il prossimo futuro.



Volevo che sanguinasse. Volevo divorarlo. Volevo che mi implorasse di risparmiarlo. Tanto quanto volevo provocargli un profondo gemito di piacere. Le sue iridi dorate danzavano con le stesse emozioni e amplificavano la tensione tra i nostri corpi. Un’ombra scura si proiettò sul momento. Volevamo ........ o ucciderci? Baciarci o lottare? Assaporarci o farci sanguinare a vicenda? Una mescolanza perversa di tutte le cose assieme. Volevo fargli del male e allo stesso tempo accudirlo.

Questo quarto capitolo della serie Dark Provenance, oltre ad entrare nel dettaglio della storia di Ezra e Kayla, prosegue la linea generale del racconto che vede creature angeliche e demoniache a volte scontrarsi e a volte cooperare per mantenere il tanto agognato equilibrio tra bene e male. Ritroviamo, nominati o in cameo tanti protagonisti conosciuti nei libri precedenti che vanno di volta in volta ad unirsi all’esercito.

I confini tra Paradiso e Inferno non più così netti, e scopriamo che il bene e l’amore può nascondersi in creature demoniache, quanto il male e la cattiveria può risiedere in ciò che consideriamo angelico.

Il tutto viene intervallato, come già l’autrice ci ha abituato, da momenti di intimità sensuale tra i due protagonisti che fanno letteralmente scintille tra loro, prima odiandosi cordialmente e dopo cedendo ad una passione senza freni, come ci si aspetta da due creature ultraterrene che poco sanno di pudore o morale.

Una cosa che devo dire mi è mancata è l’inizio della storia tra questi due protagonisti che, spero di non sbagliare, dovrebbe essere contenuta in una novella inedita qui in Italia. Di entrambi si fa qualche cenno nei libri precedenti, più di Kayla per la verità, ma manca la storia del loro legame e questo forse finisce per penalizzare un po’ la lettura perché rende difficile al lettore, almeno in un primo momento, orientarsi.
Puntualizzazione a parte, ho ancora una volta apprezzato come questa autrice sia in grado di costruire e gestire un universo popolato da creature che rappresentano creature ultraterrene, ma assolutamente schiave di sentimenti e passioni prettamente umane. Un connubio, a mio giudizio, molto azzeccato.

Lei mi faceva sentire così dannatamente bene. I suoi brevi tocchi erano sufficienti a farmi respirare meglio. Mi alleggerivano il cuore e mi liberavano la mente. Era… inebriante. Una dipendenza. Una follia.

Lexi C. Foss pens another amazing novel set in her “Dark Provenance” series and it is just as fascinating and imaginative as the first three books. This book stands on its own, though each book is just as amazing as the other and I recommend them all, an added benefit would be the familiarity of this great world Foss created, a world of supernatural beings, various types of angels and demon and more, plus the different realms they live in, heaven, heII and earth. Four decades ago Ezra, Archangel of Justice and protector of the Divinity, needed to help restore the balance of the world and he forced a mating bond on a half demon, half human hybrid. All turned out well for the world but not for Ezra, because her father, Archdemon Bael, told him he must never see his daughter Kayla again and he left her in the underworld with her father. This story picks up four decades after that incident and Kayla is out for vengeance against Ezra, she wants him dead for what he done to her, leaving her to live in HeII by herself. She goes back to where she first met Ezra, and with the help of Prince Ashmedai, she lures him to appear. Except not not all goes as planned and the balance of world gets thrown off when one of the Divinity is abducted. Kayla’s plan goes out the window and they forced her and Ezra to work together to get the world balance back in order again. These two work well together and the chemistry between them is undeniable, but is she willing to forgive him for what he done or will she just continue on with her mission and get her vengeance? This action-packed and cleverly plotted story has plenty of drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a great enemies to lovers romance. Lexi C. Foss, thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Sarah Puckett, Walker Williams and Kale Williams are superbly talented and made a great team, the quality of the audio and their performance is top-notch and Lexi C. Foss could not have chosen a better cast to bring her characters and story to life. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance, making you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Lexi C Foss non è un'autrice per tutti, eppure un suo romanzo va letto: per la sua scrittura irriverente ma divertente, per la presenza di tanto spicy, che anche quando è hot non appare mai volgare.
In questa serie l'autrice crea un triangolo Inferno – Terra – Paradiso abbastanza singolare come pure le figure che lo popolano. La sete di potere porta alcune creature a non rispettare i propri confini con il rischio di scatenare una guerra.
In questa lotta si intersecano le vite di demoni, angeli, arcangeli e arcidiavoli e non solo.
L'ordine supremo è l'elemento da salvaguardare, ed Ezra nel fare il suo dovere si ritrova a illudere la principessa di Bael, Kay, che gli giura vendetta.
Fra i quattro romanzi questo è di sicuro il meno violento, quello con meno scene di sangue, ma la peculiarità di questa autrice è di riuscire a spostare l'attenzione dall'evento cruento alle emozioni e ai dettagli di contorno. Il tutto sempre condito da tanto umorismo e sarcasmo.
Il balletto fra Ezra e Kay si svolge nella più ampia lotta alla ricerca di chi sta sconvolgendo l’equilibrio fra i vari reami, di cui i due protagonisti sono un elemento importante.
La lettura dei due precedenti romanzi è sicuramente consigliata, ma non necessaria: alcuni degli eventi principali sono riepilogati e la storia si legge e anche senza la piena conoscenza dei fatti avvenuti prima.
Il mio preferito rimane il primo capitolo, ma anche in questo romanzo il ritmo è scorrevole, aiutato anche dal doppio Pov.
Le pagine scivolano nella difficoltosa ricerca della mente che trama dietro agli eventi, riuscendo a tenere avvinto il lettore e pure a farlo sorridere.

Strap in kiddies - this is going to be quick and dirty!

This is the 4 and second last book in the Dark Provenance series by Lexi C Foss and if you have, from some unfortunate set of circumstances, read my previous reviews, then you know that I love the shit out of this series!

Way back we had an introduction to Ezra and Kayla with a novella called Heiress of Bael and I probably should have re-read this because I felt like I was missing some initial connections with their relationship. That being said, their relationship was still hot AF and as always, there was a deliciously hot happy ever after.

We get cameos from Gwen, Zane and Zebulon and mentions of Eve and Xai - god I love Xai. He is mine and I challenge you to take him from me! There was also a bonus chapter from Trudy's perspective which gives some insight into the next book.

The best line in the entire book was from Ezra - "I wanted to slay them and fuck her in a pool of their blood" - methinks he was feeling ever so slightly jealous!

Overall I enjoyed the ride and am a little sad that there is only one more book left.

I received an ARC and because there is a cat giving me the evil eye because there is a laptop on my lap and not her, I have given an honest review.

This enemy to lovers book does not disappoint which is no surprise because this author is phenomenal and has never written anything other than amaze-balls books!

The push and pull between these two is unrelenting and so addicting. Kayla, the Princess of Bael and Ezra, the Archangel of Justice meet in the most rocky of circumstances, many years ago in the prequel, Heiress of Bael. (I highly recommend reading that before Princess of Bael.) Ezra tricked, used and abandoned Kayla in Hell without a second thought just to save the Divinity and create balance between the realms.

Kayla’s life’s mission turned to cold hearted revenge. He was the one that needed to be dethroned to fix this mess. She would happily drive a blade through his cold, black heart, then take over his precious Divinity.
However, when they meet again, the truth begins to unfold and sparks begin to fly in an addicting and steamy story that you will not want to end.

Lexi’s character and world building is like no other and I couldn’t help but feel that I was living this tale right alongside the characters, and I’m sure you will feel the same. I truly can’t wait for the final piece to this puzzle in the last installment to this series.

Scorrevole senza alcun dubbio, un’ottima lettura per affrontare quelle un po’ più impegnative, diciamoci la verità questo quarto libro e’ stato un po’ statico. Indubbiamente ci sono stati dei colpi di scena e la maggior parte succedono verso i capitoli finali. Mi aspettavo qualcosina di più.
Ogni libro di questa Dark Provenance ha il suo finale, senza avere alcun cliffhanger, quindi è un bene.
Ezra e Kayla sono i protagonisti di quest’avventura nuova, entrambi con un passato forte, uno per preservare un’importante cosa e sfrutta una povera ragazza; lei invece proprio da questo passato si è costruito un’armatura intorno alla rabbia e odio, che sembrava quasi indistruttibile. Eppure nel corso degli eventi le loro vite si intrecciano nuovamente, avendo bisogno l’uno dell’altra… ma sarà abbastanza per fidarsi?
Ci sono anche i momenti in cui dubiti di un personaggio, ma chi sorprende maggiormente è Ashmedai, nonostante abbia i suoi sospetti su ogni persona che conosce, trasmette solo in parte. Eppure rincuora Ezra verso lo status della sua compagna.
Ripeto è molto leggero e ha quel giusto stacco per delle letture dove ci vuole maggiore concentrazione.

Okay i read this as a standalone instead of as a series so there were things that were confusing to me and characters that i didn’t know who they were. Despite that, it was pretty easy to follow along and i didn’t feel like i missed out tooooo much for not reading the other books.

I think I thought the mc’s were just okay, and this is was a case where some communication would’ve done them good. I feel like this was marketed as an enemies to lovers book, but it didn’t feel trueeee to the trope because there was still an underlying love/attraction even in their ‘enemy’ phase. I felt like Kay made a lot of stupid decisions and i mean i know she kind of got played into it but damn, her vengeance got a bystander killed and started all this chaos.

It’s kind of hard to root for the main couple because i didn’t really feel strongly for either of them, and i kind of hate when books resolve the conflict thru the mc’s suddenly gaining some op power that solves the problem (where in this case, it did happen). It just kind of feels sloppy and simple. But the book was intriguing enough for me to finish although I’m not sure if I’ll revisit this series.

Read this one 5th and after digging around a bit, came to realize I read these all out of order, with the exception of the prequel, ‘Heiress of Bael’. If you’re like me and binging these in Tempt, do not go by their numbering, as it’s apparently wrong. That said, this did not take away from the reading experience at all—these can be enjoyed easily as interconnected standalones.

I’d been dying for more Kayla and it turns out I didn’t need to wait for the first 4 books to get her story, but hearing this one last was pretty fun.

Well I was team Xaingeline but now I am truly team Kayra 😊 Kayla is half human half demon daughter of Archdemon Bael and she’s been a target for demons trying to kill her all her life . When she fights a slither demon outside her home she goes inside to find a guy sat on her bed .Archangel Ezra sets out to use her to get into hell and save Johanna from Bael to do that he bonds with Kayla knowing what it will mean to them both but Kayla doesn’t know. Kayla spends millennia in hell plotting her revenge against Ezra however when she gets the chance other things are set in motion meaning they will have to work together once again. Love the chemistry between them both even though Kayla denies it you can feel her giving up.

*Audiobook review*

The narration alone had me giving this 4 stars. I love duet and multicast, and with the intense scenes, whether in battle or the bedroom, this was a really fun ride 😘

I jumped into this book partway into the series so I had some catch up to do, but thankfully there is enough re-introduction and discussion of characters and events that I was able to follow what was happening. It seems to work ok as a standalone but I'll probably try the rest of the series. There is a lot of world building going on in this story with multiple factions, political power hungry motivations and revenge plots. I wouldn't say this is an easy background listen, but it's definitely worth taking the time.

This is the fourth book in the Dark Provenance series that is a standalone. I don't feel like the beginning was a start to the book with it suppose to be a standalone as I was very confused with how it immediately started. I would have to read/listen to the other books in the series to understand who was who and what was what. Other than the beginning, I feel like it gave detailed descriptions of everything and made it easy to follow while multitasking.

I really enjoyed the narrators and their voices for the characters. I think they did a great job.

Princess of Bael is Kayla and Ezra’s story and it’s a true enemies to lovers story❣️Ezra tricks Kayla into a blood bond and leaves her in Hell with her father. Unfortunately, four decades have passed on Earth while Ezra had protected the Divinity but Kay had experienced centuries below and her ire with Ezra has sparked a revenge in her that will only be quenched when Ezra is dead😢

A truly amazing story with some surprising revelations…I’m intrigued to see what happens with Trudy and Ashmedai next🤩 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

It is finally here!
I was so excited for this story since the novella and it did not disappoint! 😍
Although all books in the series are considered standalones, I really think you should read the previous ones to understand the whole story! (At least the Novella!!!)

I loved Kay and Ezra so much!!! And their progression from Hate to Love 🥵

The only thing I wished we could've seen more is Kay’s time in hell after Ezra left her there and to see Ezra grovel a little bit (I know he explained why he didn't but I just wanted to see it because he definitely could’ve handled the whole situation better)

Dopo una storia d'amore su due angeli e una su tre demoni, non poteva non essercene una su un Arcangelo e una mezzo sangue umana e demone.
Un equilibrio (appunto) ricercato con forza e determinazione, un percorso di accettazione e perdono, di fiducia e consapevolezza, dove il giusto spicy fa da contorno (sta volta non da protagonista) ad una storia piena di colpi di scena.

The push and pull from this couple is everything.

I wanted to hate Ezra so badly but his redemption makes me adore him so much.

Definitely book boyfriend potential.

And Kayla is another kickass, take no prisoners heroine. I want to be her when I grow up.

lacks chemistry and the story is over complicated

Not as exciting as I was anticipating. Over complicated. The story drags on and often seems nonsensical. Kayla and Ezra have no chemistry. I found myself skipping over a lot of the story to get to the meat of it. It felt like both made sense and I didn’t understand the relationships between all the arch demons and angels.

I like the Dark Provenance series, even though I have to re-read to catch up. It's been some books and time between it and my old brain. I liked Kayla and Ezra's romance. The villain was quite obvious from the beginning, but it was good for our heroes to struggle to reach it. Looking forward for Ashmedai and Trudy's book, which should be the finale of the series. I think :)

The storyline was good, I just wasn’t really interested in the enemies to lovers aspect. I was also disappointed that I couldn’t find the book that started all this, Heiress of Bael. I feel like I am missing a piece of the relationship. The time shifting between the different realms was definitely disorienting and took some time to understand. I don’t think this series is finished.

Ezra and Kayla are hot, hot, hot! Loved the mystery of who is behind all the machinations going on. And the battles are epic. There are a lot of parts to this story and they are all wrapped up very nicely.

I love Lexi’s writing. Bringing characters to life that we didn’t know we needed. In an enemies to lover’s style, Kay is out to get back at Ezra after bonding her and leaving her in hell. Chaos ensues and they must work together to right their wrongs.
