Stormvoice is the second book in a progression fantasy series, featuring a weak-to-strong protagonist, a unique magic system, interesting creatures, and so much more!
This book was pretty good, but I do share some of the concerns that other people have expressed. The main male Character Roran continues his repetitive expressions of self-doubt, which is not that problematic in itself, except that it is way too often in my opinion. The other characters also continue the same repetitive expressions from their perspectives. I also though that Roran did not really progress enough throughout this book. I understand that according to the premise of the books he is supposed to progress slowly and yet at times he is thrown into the fray to try to progress quicker than normal, but he could have gotten a little better than he is by the end of this book. I feel that the series is dragging on a bit longer than it needs to as well, since there are seven books to the series over all. I want to continue the series, but at this point for all these reasons I am unsure if I will. I may try another book by this author and hope that it is better and then maybe return to this series.
I was hoping after the first book the series would get better.
It did not. In fact, I believe it got much worse.
The dialogue is awful. It's like Skyrim npcs talking to each other. The worst being the MC's lines. They're just clunky.
Worse it seems the author is addicted to repeating himself. A lot. It was at is worst at the very end where the MC was concentrating on his power and his inner dialogue was repeated for what felt like 20 pages.
After I finished and reflected on what actually took places in the story foe this whole booked, I was shocked when I realized it was 2 maybe 3 days? Almost nothing really happened for all the pages in this book. This author needs an editor something fierce.
Edit: im starting to wonder if AI had an influence in this book. Bad dialouge and weird repetition certainly are the hallmarks.
The story itself is very good and very interesting. It has the feel of observing an action-adventure, RPG video game. The problems I noticed with the first book in this series have become extremely annoying and frustrating to me. The Author has this annoying habit of repeating him self over and over again, restating each and every tiny point to nauseam. Even though this story is action packed This slows the progression of the story to a crawl. A three-hundred-page story could have been told in one hundred pages if not for this particular habit of his. I may return to this series at a later time, but as of right now, I am just too frustrated with it to continue further. I must admit at this point, though, that I have become invested in this story and want to see how it turns out.
Quite a tale! Storm voice is the second book in this series. Titan seeks to find his to controlling his Void heart power. It seems sometimes like the blind leading the blind! But the cast of chapters is large enough to prove up to the task. The hero suffers and is drawn through the gambit of challenges. But in the end he staggers on toward Book 3. Looking forward to starting the next book!!!
Main character gets annoying fast. Same internal struggle and constant "feeling" of himself gets old quick. For a 16 yo who had no powers, he argues with those more experienced and seems to command at other times. I understand its about character development, but like others have said this could have merged with book one. I found it an extremely slow read. I'll try the next book as book 1 had promise. If not I have an entire backlog to browse through.
Again it takes a bit to get going. Books may be too short to really get into and the fact Roran is young, he’s starting to get to me. Needs to figure things out soon or this will take awhile to finish.
This is a very long short story about a young man that worries about his ability. Then of course make a childish mistake and to be rescued. I like this author but he missed on this one.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
