Perfect is overrated. But the past has a way of exploiting the cracks.
Finn should have known life was too perfect. With a change in the university’s second-year schedule, Gillian will once again be Finn’s lecturer. Facing another year of secrets, lies, and sneaking around, she breaks things off. Instead of relief, Finn is unmoored, missing her lover, and waking up with the sour taste of alcohol and regret in her mouth.
Gillian understands why Finn walked away, but it hasn’t made their separation any easier to bear. Yet when Finn experiences a family emergency, she knows only one place to turn. Gillian is waiting with open arms. And a decision—taking a risk and telling the university of their relationship, albeit fudging the timeline a bit. Now they don’t have to hide any more.
But life is not all sunshine and roses. Trouble still lies in wait on their journey to forever…
Note: Choose You is book two of Finn and Gillian’s continuing story that began with Study You. It is an age gap, professor/mature college student novel by bestselling lesbian romance author Melissa Tereze. Contains early-on angst that is quickly overcome, explicit scenes, and a dastardly plot to destroy all these two lovers have fought for.
Melissa Tereze is a best-selling author living in Liverpool, UK, with her fiancée and Golden Retriever. She holds a degree in Sports Development, and when she’s not writing, she can be found at a local bar singing one of her favourite tracks.

OMG! What a ride from Forbidden, to Study You and now Choose You we follow Finn's and Gillian's lives together and how their love only grows. With a hiccup or two. Melissa knows how to weave a beautiful story together and keep you invested in the MCs! Of course, there's passion and so much love! This is a gorgeous age gap, HOT love story! A FAVORITE! Due more than 5 stars!
Oh the start of this book broke me!! I was cheering for Finn and Gillian to sort things out! Finn x Gill 4eva! They had more obstacles to overcome in this book but it was so good to see their love for each other shine through, regardless of everything trying to keep them apart! Highly recommend and make sure you read Study You first as this follows on. I’m so glad we got more of this couple!
Written in third person with 2x POV’s. Narrated by KA Walsh. Second chance, Age gap (20), Teacher/Student, Forbidden relationship. 7x Spicy Scenes (and one F2B).
The book hangover is intense. I don't want to move on to another book and just live in this world for just a little bit longer. I have already gone back and reread it. Would three times in a row be excessive? The extremely talented Melissa Tereze gives us another jaw-dropping sequel that had me desperate to finish, but not wanting the book to end simultaneously. We start out with angst, work through the angst, go into outside angst while the MCs build their relationship and strengthen it. I love the chemistry, I believe it's even stronger in this book than the first. The secondary characters are wonderful, supportive, and add to the story. I enjoyed how much love these characters have for each other. it's just oozing off the pages. The spice level is beyond fire. I would say this is her best yet, but I keep saying that after each new release. As with all her books, I will be keeping this in my reread pile to come back to. I will continue to follow her and look forward to more books.
Gillian and Finn were my favourite duo of Melissa’s. Study You was my introduction to her work.
But sometimes, we don’t need a second story. We don’t need to see a HAE torn apart for the sake of bringing characters back.
Finn’s anger also struck me as off. Between that and having Gillian gagging on a toy (which no one ever actually enjoys…) and bringing these two back just to hurt them both, Choose You feels completely unnecessary.
I was just deeply disappointed with this - which isn’t to say I don’t still support Melissa as a writer, because I do think she is brilliant. But even the cream of the crop can make mistakes and for me, this was most certainly that.
Finn and Gillian’s relationship is messy, passionate, and real, making it easy to root for them even as they navigate their flaws. The bittersweet pain of their separation is written with such depth that you feel every moment. The family emergency brings them together in a way that feels natural and heartfelt, and the decision to finally go public adds a layer of hope and bravery. While the story is compelling, some of the "trouble" felt slightly forced for me, keeping it from being a perfect read. Still, it’s a deeply satisfying tale of love overcoming obstacles, deserving a solid 4.5 stars.
This is the first book I have ever read from the author and I absolutely loved it! Besides sweet and tender romance, the mystery of the stalker is also addictive.I like the couple very much, admire their fierce fight and sacrifice for their true love. This age gap, opposite attract romance evoke so many emotions in me, a dramatic roller coaster joy ride that gives me strong book hangover.
I’m not really sure where the last book left off so the beginning chapters were spent playing catch-up. Then it seemed to be a constant back and forth of I love you’s but. I’m not sure if it was to give their relationship “levels” but it was quite annoying. Then the stalker bit which brought them back to each other ended on a very anticlimactic way. All in all, it was more of a; was this book necessary type of read.
If Study You hooked me, Choose You absolutely wrecked me—in the best way. As a follow-up, it didn’t just rehash the same beats; it dug deeper, pushing the relationship further while exploring what happens after the first rush of forbidden attraction. And honestly? I think I loved this one even more.
What really stood out was the emotional depth. This wasn’t just “professor meets student and sparks fly” anymore—it was about choosing each other through complications, external pressure, and self-doubt. There’s something raw about watching characters fight for their love when it would be easier to walk away, and Melissa Tereze captured that tension beautifully.
The pacing was chef’s kiss. The slow-burn tension of the first book gave way to something richer and more settled, but it never lost its spark. Instead, we got this gorgeous blend of angst, vulnerability, and payoff that made every scene feel earned. And the dialogue? Natural, heartfelt, and sometimes so charged it made me squirm in the best way.
And the spice—whew. 🔥4 again, for sure. The sex scenes were explicit, detailed, and emotionally charged. The chemistry between the leads didn’t fizzle with the sequel—it intensified. These weren’t just “let’s throw in some spice for spice’s sake” moments; each scene carried emotional weight and deepened the relationship. It didn’t quite push into the heavier kink/BDSM territory that earns a full 🔥5, but it was definitely toe-curling.
Overall, Choose You felt like a true continuation, not just an add-on. It gave me angst, romance, intimacy, and so much emotional payoff. Honestly, Melissa Tereze knows exactly how to hit that sweet spot between romance and spice, and this book is proof.
This is the follow up book to Study You. I enjoyed both of these books but in case you think this review is not as glowing as you think a 5 star book should be I am adding this disclaimer - I teach at University - I interact with students in my professional capacity. There is a very strict code that you don't/can't sleep with them. So much as I enjoy it, and understand the taboo concept there is a bit of me that maybe winces a little at times. You could suggest that maybe I shouldn't have read it, or reviewed it - but it's fiction, and I always read each new book that Melissa Tereze publishes because they are all excellent and I enjoy them - and I think you should too.
This book sees Finn and Gillian preparing for the new academic year. Just as they thought they would be ok to declare their relationship Gillian's timetable is changed and she has to teach a module that Finn is taking. Finn ends their relationship to protect Gillian.
And then the fall out begins. They are both suffering. And if Gillian thought her life was bad enough at that moment, she finds out she has a stalker. This brings extra tension into the 'relationship' and Finn is not going to sot by and watch Gillian be harassed and scared.
There is of course an epilogue. They get their HEA moment of a Vegas wedding - well researched.
It was simply torture. For the characters, but also for us readers. At least for me. It was really hard to see them both going through this difficult time. A time full of self-blame, pain, longing and missunderstandings. All because the university's rules might come in the way. Well, everyone can make mistakes, but Finn will regret this one. Especially when she realizes what she did to Gill... Curious? I'll bet! Gill has to endure a lot, even though she's already struggling enough with what's happening with Finn! It's enough to be back at university and teaching while feeling like a shadow of herself. But something mysterious also robs her of the last bit of security she still had. It's exciting, sad and nerve-wracking, but also hopeful, heartbreaking and so sweet. Of course also extremely hot ;)
It is advisable to read the book "Study You" first, although "Choose You" also works as a standalone book, but if you know some of the history of these two favorite characters, it is certainly easier.
Finn and Gillian were in love, but there are issues that might break them apart. Finn is a student and Gillian a teacher at the same facility, and now Gillian has been assigned to teach the module Finn is in.
(If G teaching Finn is a issue, why not move her out of the class? Is it the only once available for F to take? Also, if they were planning to go public, why not go to G's boss and explain the conflict?)
Gillian sees Finn talking to another woman, and assumes they're dating. Worse, it appears Gillian might have a stalker.
(Gillian being boo hoo woe is me gets annoying. Also, her not taking responsibility grates a bit.)
It's even more annoying with what happens when she sees the Dean.
I was ok with how the stalker story resolved, and I thought things wrapped up nicely.
I’m embarrassed at how long it’s taken me to read this book! The third instalment is already out! And what a brilliant book it is, yes it starts off a bit ropey but soon gets better. The trials and tribulations this pair go through to get that happy ending, well, most couples wouldn’t make it. But it goes to show, when you know you know. Yes I know it’s a book, and from MT I expect to get my heart ripped out, I did begin to wonder at one point if they would make it. I absolutely love this author, heartbreak and all…I always manage to forgive her though…eventually. Be sure to read the previous book before this one for a deeper understanding of the characters.
I absolutely loved Study You, I fell in love with Gillian and Finn. And it ended on such a lovely note. I don’t think I was truly prepared for book two. Knowing how many of Melissa’s sequels go, there were so many angsty possibilities. Choose You did not disappoint. It was wonderfully suspenseful and included the iconic spice, I’ve come to love from Melissa.
Age gap romances are one of my favorite tropes and you could honestly never go wrong with one of her books. Choose You is definitely worth the read.
This book is FIRE! 🔥 If you’ve read Study You then you must read this book. If you haven’t, go get it! This book made me fall even harder for Gillian, while feeling insurmountable pride at how far Finn has come. Melissa did an excellent job at deepening both characters, surfacing their flaws and insecurities, while showing that love and passion can heal the deepest of vulnerabilities. The book starts out quite angsty but stick with it, it’s totally worth it. And those love scenes… insanely hot!
Finn and Gillian are going through a rough patch at the beginning of this book, and I was already getting annoyed with their indecision. But as they were starting to get back together, the whole story took a turn to mystery. It was quite thrilling to read, and I was trying my hardest to guess who the baddie would be, and had no clue. The love scenes are hot and spicy, as can be expected from the amazing Melissa Tereze.
A Wonderful book. If you really love someone you are willing to to do whatever is necessary. The character are believable as you following them and hoping that they will get back together. With all the things are hanging over their heads. With a person sending pictures and video of them when they first got together. Things are not looking good. But in the end love wins.
It feels like ages since I read Study you and had no idea there was this follow up so I was absolutely delighted to find this on kindle unlimited. The story, like the first book was captivating. I adore Finn and Gillian. The characters in both books are amazing and you can't help being invested. Is it too much to hope that there might be another book in this series. I really, really hope so.
From start to finish this book had me gripped! I always look forward to new books by Melissa but this one was by far one of the best! The spicy scenes…..phew 🔥🥵
I loved Finn and Gillian’s growth throughout the book and how they handled their emotions through everything that was going on.
Absolutely astounding, if I could give it more than 5 stars I would.
The second book of the series with sensual scenes, suspense, feelings and plenty of emotional dramatic moments. Once again an excellent written book from Melissa Tereze with real dialogues, depth, detailed intensive scenes and well described characters. Well done!!!
Soooo good!!! Study You is one of my all time favorite reads, so I knew I was going to LOVE the sequel!! I adore Finn and Gillian!! This book was so GREAT, I love the rollercoaster of emotions I went through reading it. Melissa Tereze is definitely one of my top 5 favorite authors, I just love all of her books!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Gillian is totally happy with her girlfriend, Finn. They have their lives ahead of them and all seems perfect. Then a change in the teaching system puts them on hold. Finn is totally lost and walks away. When the fall starts they are shadows of themselves. Will love ever mature for these lover’s? Great series.
I have read just about all of Melissa Tereze’s book’s and can say without a doubt that this one is another hit. As with the others this one had just the right amount of angst to keep you on your toes. I love the characters in this series and highly recommend giving it a read!
Wow what a fantastic read this book is written with so much depth of each character that make you feel apart of their story the twists were exceptional as we've all come to know melissa tereze books they always deliver a must-read congratulations
The spicy scenes was fhe only good part of this book. This book was basically 300+ pages of repetitive I love you but we can’t or I love you I can’t believe I fucked up. It just gets dragging on and on. Also, the stalker situation was anticlimactic and also felt kinda random for the book
This is my most favorite series. Finn and Gillian's story is fabulous. It has something for everyone. I am big on angst but love romance. Melissa tells a great story.
