I loved this little short story! :) There was soo much interesting history between The Nutcracker + Rattenkönig — I hope we get a sequel in the future that dives into it all a bit more! I was left wanting so much more of these two and their world! ♡

It's a short story, it says on the title. But it was shorter than short. It was so short I ended it before I decided if I liked or not. It didn't even left a proper taste in my mouth. It was so short I didn't even put it into long term memory.
But I want to read more. The concept is good. I'm all for monster romance. particularly, not much for captive trope but I can appreciate it now and then. I really really really want to read a long story of this, but a bit more whimsical and fantastical and with thicker... plot... than just written sex. I think I'll enjoy it very much.

concept: perfect. the rat king x the nutcracker? 11 yo me would be SCREAMING. execution: bad. this is just a kink scene. i wanted MORE.

typos and grammatical errors is what dropped the rating for me. i don’t expect much from a short story besides lack of typos and grammatical errors. its shorter, editing and noticing said errors will be easier compared to a full length novel or even a novella. cmon.

Overall Thoughts 💭 :
I have to admit my only reference I have for the nutcracker is the Barbie movie but I knew enough to understand some references. Though this is short, I loved the lore created for the Nutcracker and Rattenkönig. I liked the hints of their relationship and the tension between them.

This was a great and smutty little treat that I read before bed on Christmas Day. It gave exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. This is a short story about a spicy rendezvous between the Rat King and a live Nutcracker. They're enemies, so the tension was *chef's kiss.* Lucien Burr does debauchery well, and I love it.
