I thought this was an enjoyable omnibus of three Winter Soldier series. Bucky doesn't often get his own time to shine in Marvel comics, so as a fan of the character, it was great to see a collection of his stories.
Captain America (2004): I've read this one before, since it's the OG that sets up the Winter Soldier character. I liked it just fine (I honestly thought the Winter Soldier movie made the Bucky reveal more emotional but anyway), and my previous review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Bitter March: This one was a bit of a mixed bag, since it's an homage to 1960s James Bond with the Winter Soldier playing the role of villain henchman. He's not in it that much, and when he is, he's mostly brainwashed. It's a fun comic, but it definitely feels light on the superhero vibes and even lighter on Winter Soldier. I enjoyed it, but it feels like an odd choice for this collection.
Winter Soldier (2018): This was my favorite of the omnibus. The art, if not always my favorite, has a soft-focus look which is an interesting change from the norm. In addition, we get to see Bucky after his brainwashing, which is fantastic. He's helping people; he's got a cat; old lady Sharon Carter is there as a good friend - lots of nice little details. The story itself is perfectly fine with some cardboard cutout supporting characters, but it is pretty short to be fair.
In addition, this is a nicely-printed soft-cover omnibus with good paper (as you'd expect), so it's a solid addition to the collector's shelf as well.
Overall, I enjoyed the collection, and if you're a Winter Soldier fan, your options are limited for character-themed omnis like this, so it was nice to see this released in conjunction with the Thunderbolts movie.
NO WHY WHY'D IT HAVE TO END LIKE THAT RJ NO assuming I'm actually understanding the ending correctly because RJ's dad's first name is Richie not Richard and RJ is a Richard so....it is his grave and Bucky already buried RJ's dad in the woods so unless he confessed to murder and then dug him up idk.
It's a good book, never read many marvel comics, mostly just an MCU fan but other than the plot differences (which isn't the book's fault, it's comic accurate not MCU accurate) ,the weird look of some of the comics, the fact that Bucky is a side character in the first half of the comic collection and Fury being white (which again comic accurate so I can't fault it too hard).
It was really good, why 4 stars? Because ehhhhhh the plot wasn't even fully about Bucky for half of it. Still so good, 4/5 stars would recommend.
Thank you boyfriend even if you wont see this <3

Really more like 4.5 stars than 4. The 2004 Brubaker run is a 5-star run, that was fantastic. The Bitter March was pretty good, definitely interesting. The 2018 series was great but really sad at the same time, I kind of wish that one had more resolution. Not sure if that one ends there for real or if this is all we got in the collection, though.
Overall, I'd say this collection is a good set of stories for those trying to get into comics who love Bucky and don't necessarily want to get into the whole Civil War and Bucky becoming Captain America and then dying again and then being brought back to life, etc. thing. Also noting that you dont need to know about his connection with Black Widow for any of these stories. It's a great standalone collection that I'd recommend to Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes fans :)
