Stina is always cold so she wraps herself in lots of scarves, sweaters and coats. In the winter, she does not leave her house. One day she watches children playing outside and decides to join them. A wonderful book for knitters like me.

Pomerne ťažké sa vžiť do prežívania hrdinky, lebo moje deti a aj ja sme pravým opakom Stíny. Ale je to krásne napísané aj ilustrované a vďaka tomu si uvedomujeme, že sú ľudia ako Stína a občas potrebujú, aby sme ich nechali tak a inokedy zas, aby sme za nimi prišli.

Krátky príbeh o dievčatku, ktoré sa intenzívne, ale veľmi originálne pripravuje na veľkú zimu….no lebo je jej stále veľmi zima a prichádza práve obdobie zimy. A tak sedí doma, vymýšľa zlepšováky do domácnosti a usilovne sa babuší, aby zakonzervovala teplo. Aj napriek všetkej snahe sa jej to nedarí a s postupujúcou zimou je jej viac a viac zima. Až jedného dňa náhodou pustí domov 2 deti, ktoré jej svet prevrátia hore nohami. Ako to celé skončí je v knihe.
Pre mňa boli na celej knihe najzaujímavejšie nápady Stíny ako udržať teplo, niektoré sú totiž veľmi originálne a prekvapujúce. Plus v knihe sú väčšinou oddelené od textu ako tzv. Blueprint, teda nákresy na modrom s podrobným popisom.

Do hotového kakaa pridaj štipku soli, zamiešaj a nalej kakao do hrnčeka. Na vrch pridaj šľahačku.

This super cute picture book has Stina isolating herself from friends in an effort to rug up and keep warm whilst the other children get on with the business of playing, making friends and getting warm through activity.
A great read for children, both those that isolate themselves, and to help social critters develop empathy as to why some children may come across as withdrawn/nonfriendly but just need time to warm up. Loved it and the illustrations are devine.

Kniha Stína zaujme na prvý pohľad obálkou v kvalitnej väzbe príjemnej na omak, akoby zababušenej vo svetri. Napriek zimnej téme zvolila autorka a ilustrátorka v jednej osobe Lani Yamamoto teplé odtiene farieb - okrovú, sivomodrú, tmavozelenú a hnedú. Tie vzájomne ladia, výsledok je skutočne jedinečný.
Stína je nádherná kniha o priateľstve, osamelosti, o potrebe byť v spoločnosti iných ľudských bytostí, ale aj o strachu.
Kniha je pomenovaná podľa hlavnej hrdinky. Stína je dievča, ktoré nemá rado chlad, chladné jedlá ako zmrzlinu ani studené veci. S príchodom jesene začína s prípravami na zimu a všetok svoj čas venuje tomu, aby sa zahriala. Navrhne a vyrobí si rôzne dômyselné vynálezy, vďaka ktorým si uľahčí život. Najlepšie sa však i tak cíti v posteli pod veľkou bielou prikrývkou. Lenže prikrývka začína byť každým dňom ťažšia...
Stína upadne do smútku, osamelosť ju pohltí a vtom sa stane čosi nečakané. Jedno zaklopanie na dvere. Jeden závan vetra. Do usporiadaného života malej Stíny vtrhne chaos v podobe dvoch detí.
A Stína zisťuje, že na zahriatie neexistuje nič lepšie ako kamaráti a...
... šálka horúceho kakaa v ich spoločnosti.

Cuándo tenemos frío muchas veces la primera imagen que viene a nuestras cabezas es nuestra cama. Tina piensa lo mismo, pero ella tiene un súper poder: el ingenio para aguantar el frío invierno. Se prepara con todo lo necesario para no salir de casa y del refugio de su colcha. Mas no entiende cómo hay personas que no tienen frío fuera de sus hogares y juegan de manera muy divertida con la nieve. Stina and I are two peas. Like this protag, I hate the cold and will do almost anything to prevent myself from braving it. Stina, though, tries much harder than I, engineering increasingly intricate and creative contraptions to ensure that she doesn't have to leave the cozy den of her down comforter...until a knock sounds at her door. But Stina is far too clever to face the winter without using her DIY skills to fashion herself some cold-weather wear.

This Icelandic import from ABRAMS is a treat, and those who combat the cold regularly will find a kindred spirit in Stina.

PLUS the book includes recipes and guides to make some of the gadgets that Stina creates.

Loved this picture book because I can relate! Stína hates to be cold so she goes to great lengths to stay warm inside all winter: knitting, baking, staying in bed, hot water bottles . . . She even dreams up inventions to help her stay warm—but she's still cold. Luckily she learns some great tips from some other kids.

This book is beautiful. It's cloth-bound. I enjoyed the simple yet detailed illustrations, and the knit-design cover is beautiful.

A unique book about an Icelandic girl who doesn't like the cold. She does everything in her power using her imagination to avoid being cold but one day feels the lack of warmth of being around friends. Includes instructions on knitting with fingers and a recipe for hot chocolate.
