Death the Kid and Black*Star race after Free and Eruka, ready to do whatever it takes to stop the Black Blood before it is used to revive the slumbering First Kishin. Meanwhile, Maka has allowed herself to slip into madness in an effort to reach Crona's troubled soul. In addition to being horribly embarrassing, her actions carry a great risk. If Maka can't find Crona fast, she too will be consumed by madness!
Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
We see the peak and finally of the taking over death school planned by Medusa They fights between each group is well thought out and always unexpected You feel the tension of each battle as each have their own risks A great way to finish this arch and introduce the next
Volume 6 starts off with Chapter 19: Fight to Death (part 4) The Battle to Stop the resurrection of the Kishin continues in this non-stop action packed volume. I particularly like Corona and Maka's friendship. The still of where Maka asks Corona to be her friend is especially moving.
The Kinshin battle at the end wasn't as epic as I was hoping but I'm confidant he'll be back and creating madness. The best part of this volume was Maka fighting against the black blood or whatever was making her crazy. The little souls of her and Croana were so darn cute. I wanna see more of that.
Soul Eater, Vol. 6 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next four chapters (19–22) of the on-going manga series.
Maka Albarn manages to determine the source of Crona's childhood trauma before Soul Evans helps her regain her sanity. Maka Albarn then comforts Crona, who surrenders.
Meanwhile, Franken Stein and Medusa's fight leads to a deadlock, while Black Star and Death the Kid arrive to confront Free and Eruka Frog in Asura's chamber. The combatants all hallucinate as a result of the kishin's madness wavelength, which distracts Black Star and allows Eruka Frog to successfully inject Asura with black blood, awakening him. Medusa gloats her victory, only to be seemingly killed by Franken Stein.
Asura encounters Shinigami, who has escaped his own confines and fights Asura unarmed. However, Shinigami fails to defeat Asura, who escapes.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. Despite of their best intents, Asura – the ultimate kishin was resurrected and managed to escape despite the attempt by Shinigami to stop him. With the strongest kishin free, it presents the Death Weapon Meister Academy with their greatest challenge yet.
All in all, Soul Eater, Vol. 6 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
Dr. Stein and Medusa....yeah I definitely love their dynamic and the combo. Also Maka and Crona, I’m weirdly soft for their interactions. Not to mention the gayness of Mizune and Blair.....
I wasn't impressed with this volume. Which is super disappointing considering it's the end of a great story arc! I think I do a lot of disservice to this manga because I've already seen (and loved) the anime. So when specific parts aren't in the manga, I miss them. This was especially true for the Stein/Medusa fight. I think a lot of the fighting scenes in this manga are messy, but are really fun to watch in the anime. The only thing that really saved this volume for me was the fight in the last chapter.
This was an interesting manga, what with the black blood and resurrecting Kishin. Also, what was up with Mizune becoming more 'girly' I guess you could say, and then have a 'fight' with Blair. And then they had an audience!! It just seemed like they were going to make out, and then got interrupted by Kishin. Thank GOD! Other than that, the storyline is simply awesome, and Medusa is still a creep. I just keep wondering how Soul is doing with that black blood in his body and what he's gonna do to get rid of it. I still don't really understand his dream though... With that weird goblin thing.
My favorite by far. I have a lot to say, but my concentration is really bad, so I might forget some of the things I wanted to say.
First of all, while it's really obvious that Soul and Maka are soulmates, I find myself still melting from any interaction between Maka and Chrona. They. Are. So. Cute. Together. Whether it's romantic or platonic, they are perfect for each other, and no one can argue about it with me. CHRONA CALLS MAKA "LITTLE RABBIT" ISN'T THAT THE CUTEST THING EVER??? (she says, as she ignores the horrible context) I just want to see them go to picnics and have fun. Chrona's shadow questioning them until it starts to cry is still so sad. Every time they said "pass" I died a little inside. Asura is really hot and really creepy and that is all there is to say. Hot crazy creepy pathetic man. That's him. Next. (the first part can also be said about Blair and Mizumi, which appeared for the sole purpose of being hot and doing a really good job at it, but their hotness makes me somewhat uncomfortable because of its said purpose. Does that make me hypocritical? I'm sure Asura being naked wasn't fan service, and it was more on the creepy side anyways... I don't know. I hope my distinction makes sense??) While taking my short breaks between reading, I saw a video shipping Black Star and Death the Kid together - which came to me out of nowhere. I never even had a FLEETING idea for that kind of ship, and it actually felt really weird to me. I mean, maybe it just comes from my biases, but until watching that video I was sure the only times Black Star and Kid interact are in the Excalibur arc and the two fighting scenes. And though that video made absolutely no sense to me, and still doesn't, I now must agree that their dynamic is a lot cooler than I noticed beforehand. An excentric kid who wants to overpass god and finds himself to be superior to everyone that tends to fight up close, and an ACTUAL god-to-be who is usually very calm but has a serious inferiority complex and prefers to fight (or shoot) from afar. They're both some and some levels above Maka in power, and very easily outshine her (don't see this as me dissing Maka. I love her. She's amazing and her whole arc is a lot closer to my heart than the others - even if her character herself isn't as close as Kid's.) What I mean to say here is that if Maka and Chrona's dynamic is cool, then Kid and Black Star's dynamic is cool and the same way, sort of. Death is my father now. Medusa: "I love you." Stein, fighting alongside the man who ever since they were children kept him sane and functioning (somewhat) and whom he kept close attention to even after their relationship came to an end: "... bruh." Whether he's gay or bisexual, he and Death Scyth are married. I'm not leaving this hill ever. "But what about that blonde girl??" you ask. Fool!! She's dating that glasses woman!! My tale starts in the 12th century!! (... god that was cringe.)
This was just me talking about ships a fuck ton. I apologize.
In a world where witches, minions, and tainted souls exist, there must also be those that stand against them. These people are known as Weapon Meisters and their Weapons. They are charged with devouring tainted souls and protecting the world.
The unthinkable has happened, and now Medusa is making a play for one of the strongest (and first) Kishin ever known to man. Will the team be enough to stop her plans, or will this kick off a new age of danger for humanity?
Review:
So, between volumes five and six, we have one of my favorite Soul Eater arcs, possibly of all time. It's a dramatic arc but has some highly emotional scenes and even a few humorous points. In other words, it's pretty perfectly balanced.
Soul Eater Vol. 6 starts amid a series of fights. We have so many good fights in process, and all have something different going for them. My favorite fight is the one against Crona, but honestly, they're all good!
I should probably mention that there's also a lot (and I do mean A LOT) of fan service in the arc. It's a silly little side event happening, but it doesn't involve any of the meisters or weapons if that's any consolation.
The ending for this volume is always a surprise, and that's good. I've read this series a dozen times, yet I'm looking forward to reading what happens next.
Highlights: Shinigami Paranormal Humorous Has an Anime
The race is on! Can the students of DWMA prevent the First Kishin from being resurrected? If not, what will the consequences be?
As Death the Kid hurries to join forces with Black Star and Tsubaki, he finds himself unable to proceed due to the asymmetry of the hallway he must pass through. Can Patty and Liz put him back on the right track and get him to move forward? Meanwhile, fearful of being caught up with, Free commandeers Tadpole Jackson from Eruka. Maka is facing down Crona. In order to defeat her, Maka allows herself to slip into madness. Will this work? And will she be able to come back from it?
Dr. Stein is battling Medusa, while still monitoring what is happening ahead of them. As Eruka and Free draw close to the First Kishin, they begin to fall under the spell of his madness, which manifests itself in various illusions.
This is one of the most action-packed, exciting volumes of Soul Eater so far, and I loved it. Everyone is racing toward the First Kishin. Some want to resurrect him, while the others wish to prevent that. Lives will be changed, sacrifices made, but who will come out on top? I consider Maka, if anyone, to be the star of this volume, but everybody plays their parts well, even Death Scythe.
As usual, there is a certain amount of humor to be found, even in the face of what might turn into tragedy. Look for Blair the Witch, who has a small part to play herself. Looking forward to the next volume!
An overall wonderful ending to the first major ark of the series, as usual, Soul Eater's stunning and unique art, and amazing world kept me constantly turning the page ... ... ... ... ... SPOILERS!! Not all too much was added to the world building in this issue, but that's to be expected in a volume that's 100% big fight conclusion. That being said, if you've been remotely interested in this series to this point, at least one of the two major conflicts in this story will hold your attention quite well, not to mention the BEAUTIFUL ART on the page(s) of Stien "killing" Medusa was *chef's kiss* also to gross body horror of the Kishin waking up and getting a peak at the "Old Death" was also a high light, seeing how he acts when not having to be as "family friendly" as he is with the student meisters.
Don't mind me, I'm just casually re-reading the entire manga for the 5th time or so because A) it's one of my comfort series and I need all the comfort I can get right now, B) I own the entire thing physically so it's right there, and C) everyone is talking about fall/ Halloween reads and SE fits that to a T.
Gonna give all the volumes 5 stars as a default. There's plenty I could complain about if I wanted, namely the unnecessary fanservice/ weird sexualization of teen characters, but I'm not gonna do that right now. It pops up rarely enough that I can just pretend it doesn't exist.
I really liked this book because just like the last one had a balance of action and dialogue and that is what I love and want in a good manga. I also like how they made you think it was good always beats bad but that was all a hallucination due to the kishins madness. I really enjoy how they talk about things that will take effect in the next books. This was another great book in the series and I am definitely excited for the next ones.
The anime is still following the books so far so that's good.
The fight has started. Eruka and Free are trying to release the kishin asura while the students are trying to keep it locked up. Maka is still trying to defeat crona while death the kid and black star go up against free and eruka.
