Am I the Problem? #4

Straight Crush: M/M Romcom

Rate this book
Tl;dr: Am I the problem for forcing a straight homeless man to be my fake boyfriend? (I swear I’m actually helping him!)

I’ve [22M] been single for a long time, and my friends keep trying to set me up with guys, but after the experience I had with my ex, I’d much rather focus on my work. Savings are my priority because I’ve been on my own since I was sixteen.

So when I find out I inherited my estranged aunt’s house, it feels like hitting the jackpot. Problem is, the place is a ruin and a homeless guy [28M] is squatting there. He’s massive, rude and grumpy, but I have a soft heart and don’t want to just kick him out. I’m not about to give him a free ride though, so if he wants to stay, he needs to pull his weight. He’s straight, and a bit of an ass about my glittery nails, so forcing him to be my fake boyfriend seems like the perfect punishment. If my friends fall for our charade, I’ll have time to renovate the house without being pestered about my relationship status.

Turns out my fake boyfriend used to be a builder and is pretty handy with the power tools. Which is kinda hot. But he’s straight, so I shouldn’t think about him that way.

Update: We had an accident during renovations, and now there’s only one bed left for us to share. I’ve been avoiding relationships for such a long time, and now I kinda-maybe want one? It might be time to admit it. I have a crush on the straight guy.

Should I come clean about it? I don’t want him to freak out, but he is a bit touch starved and doesn’t mind cuddling. Does that mean his sexuality has wiggle room?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Find out if a fake relationship can lead to real love!

“Straight Crush” is a bi-awakening, grumpy/sunshine M/M romcom where a fake relationship turns all too real amidst renovation chaos. There’s more to Kai than glitter and rollerskates, and Jake is much more than his disability and bad luck. Together, they end up mending not just walls and pipes, but also each other’s hearts.

Straight Crush is the fourth book in the Am I the Problem series and, I think, the sweetest one so far.

We have Kai, who works long hours at Rainbowology and does art on the side. He’s colourful, energetic, and larger than life, a pocket rocket. His friends have been prying into his non-existent love life and trying to set him up. However, despite talking big game and being flirty he hasn’t had much sexual experience so he lies. Now his friends are expecting him to bring his boyfriend over. One day he receives a communication from a lawyer who tells him he inherited a house from his estranged aunt. He goes to take a look at the home, and inside, he finds a naked hairy man squatting. He learns that this stranger is down on his luck, is handy with tools and the perfect person to play the role of his fake boyfriend.

Jake lost his job, home, girlfriend and leg after an accident at work. He’s homeless and finds himself squatting in what he thought was an abandoned, dilapidated house. Kai offers him a place to stay, pay, and food in exchange for helping to renovate and rebuild their house and pretending to be his boyfriend. With Kai, Jake finds a purpose and gets a chance to be able to rebuild his life.

“A part of me has always hoped someone would give me a chance, but deep down I didn’t believe it would ever happen. The life I’ve led felt purposeless, but maybe I have just found my calling?”

Jake has only dated women his whole life, and as he spends time with Kai, he learns that his feelings towards Kai are more than just friends and wants to become his real boyfriend.

I loved how sweet their relationship was. They were fake dating, but the friendship, trust and love that grew between them made my heart melt. Jake and Kai really make a sweet pair. This story is lower on the steam, but with Kai being demisexual and Jake coming to terms with his sexuality, it makes sense they need to take their relationship a slower. However, when Kai and Jake do come together it's wonderful.

“I never met anyone like you. No one else is so generous, kind, and creative, and enthusiastic, and hard-working… do I even need to continue? Because I’m pretty sure I can add every positive quality a person can have to that list.”

I can’t wait to be his big spoon again. And flirt, and kiss him whenever I want. He is my miracle, and I intend to hold on to him forever.

I also liked how Jake was described in the book and Kai’s fixation on Jake’s size, his body hair, and the contrast between them. I love the size difference between them.

He’s so different from me, and that’s what turns me on so much. He’s big, hairy, his soft beard tickles me when we kiss, and his chest is covered in scruff. He has meaty thighs and arms so strong he can pick me up with ease, as well as hug me as if he were my personal teddy bear. When I look into his dark brown eyes, I feel seen in ways I have never been before. His hands are so big he could crush my fingers, yet I trust him to never hurt me.

I honestly love all the side characters from Rainbowology, and it was lovely seeing Aaron, Vex, Matt and Cass. I love the found family aspect of this series. Overall I enjoyed Straight Crush and can’t wait for Levi’s story.

Spoilers ahead I’m not hiding.

I thought this was a new author only to find out this is actually an established author(s) under a different pen name. I’ve never read a KA Merikan book but I’m frankly embarrassed that someone who’s been writing a long time and is queer, can write something that is so grossly problematic and full of stereotypes. I made it to the end out of sheer morbid curiosity.

My highlights are enough proof.

I don’t know why I picked this up. Gay/bi awakenings are rarely done well and are usually phobic and full of really gross generalizations. And these characters behaved like children and relied on their friend to fix things multiple times. Then they fucked for the first time on said friend’s couch. While the friend was in another room.

And if I have to wait until 85% for something to finally happen between these two, I’d expect their first time to be I dunno maybe in the house they’ve renovated together for months??

The time skips were really jarring. Chapters jumped weeks and months later and I HATE that.

Also, where the fuck did Kai get the money not only for renovating a huge house, but also to pay Jake, when he works at a COFFEE SHOP. He mentioned saving some money but… c’mon.

Jake is a one dimensional character and was pretty awful for most of the book. I don’t know how I’m supposed to like him.

There were parts that were cute and I liked Kai but that’s about it. But at least this means I have not only one but two authors/pen names to add to the DNR list. Sigh.

I hate to say that I have so many dislikes rather than likes for this book... 😩😬😬
The transitions were so abrupt and also most of the time we spent 3 chapters on a one event or place when it could've ended in just one and maybe that could lead to a smoother transition rather than a rough one.
So many scenes were so out of place especially during the festival just to cause a misunderstanding Between The Mcs, I'm fine with it with doing it one time but it happens twice on the same event, kinda lazy and overdone.
Some of these were written to create some unnecessary tension between the main characters which results in an ugly break up on the third act, this exsctly what happened in the book, the reasoning is so ridiculous.
I liked the first half of the book and just that nothing else.

Tropes: grumpy /sunshine, forced proximity, bi-awakening, found family
Feels: 3.5/5
Steam*: 2/5
Kinks: no
Angst: low
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content themes: homelessness, loss of parents, homophobia, amputee, past abusive relationship, unsafe sex

Kai is 22, works as a barista but is an artist. He lost his parents young and was raised by a neglectful/abusive aunt, who kicked him out when he came out as gay at 16. Kai had it rough for a few months, got in an abusive relationship, but then got a lucky break and met people who would become his found family. Kai is demisexual but feels like he needs to pretend to hook up so that he doesn't come off as different. His friends are trying to set him up. He needs a fake date.

He inherits his aunt's house when she dies. It's in a neglected state. He arrives to find the house has a squatter, Jake. Jake is a 28 year old former construction worker. He was working illegally and had a accident at work where his leg had to be partially amputated. His boss denied he was a worker of his and left him out to dry and Jake lost everything and became homeless. It's been 2 years and Jake can't find other employment, people don't want to take a risk on him. Kai and Jake come to an agreement to be pretend boyfriends and work together on the house, giving Jake a legal place to stay and a job. They start to develop feelings.

I liked this book. I will say, it got off to an unrealistic start for me when on the day they met, Kai got drunk while bringing Jake as his fake date, putting himself into a vulnerable spot - I was thinking, it was too soon to be losing all inhibitions around someone you don't know if you can trust. But they really slowly developed the relationship, and there were a bunch of very realistic and serious moments. Like when Kai realized Jake was thinking of him sexually and the safe platonic bubble evaporated and they had to deal with that. I kind of wish they had talked sooner about their feelings just because so much of the book had passed before we got to that point. I liked Kai and Jake, they were good people and got well together. I liked the way they treated Jake's amputation, the author never coddled him or presented him as restricted in what he could achieve, he found a way and he was very physical and strong. Kai never batted an eye.

If you are a fan of spice, fyi, it's very slow burn.

Some notable moments:

This describes Kai well "I consider myself lucky, because so far I’ve somehow always landed on my feet, even in the most difficult circumstances. I always seem to find money in the street, narrowly avoided a serious car accident two years ago, and Levi came into my life on the day when I thought I might become homeless. I choose to be optimistic, work hard, and the universe provides."

Serious, real argument "“You’re the one talking about getting more work, starting your own business. You wanna move out too? Like, what is this?” Kai asks, gesturing at me as if it isn’t him causing all this drama for no reason. I shake my head in disbelief. “Oh, so you don’t like me being independent because you think you need to trap me? Is that it?”"

"“But how do I deal with this? I do find women attractive, and they’re fifty percent of the population, so I can’t just stop interacting with them, even if I wanted to. How do I… how do I make him understand that he’s important?” The soft smile on Levi’s face tells me I’m on the right track."

*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

“Did you really ask a straight homeless man to be your pretend boyfriend?”
4.5⭐️2.5🌶️

I have been waiting for Kai’s book since book one and it did not disappoint!!

Roller skating waiter/artist Kai inherits a house (by default) from the very same aunt who kicked him out for being gay years ago. He finds a disabled homeless man squatting there and after realising that Jake isn’t a threat but *is* a handyman, decides to use this all to his advantage - Jake will pose as his boyfriend at a few public events so Kai’s friends stop trying to set him up and in return Jake can stay in the house and Kai will pay him to help fix it up.

This was the sweetest!! Jake has only ever been interested in women and it isn’t until Kai catches his attention that he starts to question his sexuality. Kai has had some negative experiences in the past and is demisexual so even when things get spicy they don’t move too fast. There’s a strong foundation of friendship and trust in place first and it was so charming 🥰 Another excellent addition to the series!

I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.

2.5 stars rounded up for the demisexual representation.

This was a mostly sweet, tropey, slow-burn romance featuring Kai (stalwart of the Rainbowology cafe) and Jake (a down-on-his-luck straight dude). Kai inherits a house and finds Jake squatting in it, and in a move that truly requires a suspension of disbelief, he gets Jake to agree to fake-date him so that his friends lay off on the boyfriend-related nagging. Kai identifies as demisexual, so meeting people he vibes with is tough. Anyway, these two keep up the charade for a long time, all the while secretly developing feelings for each other, it goes about how you'd expect. Except in the last 20% or so when Kai just loses his marbles for a bit, and goes from sweet and easygoing to a jealous tantruming child in a split second. This spoiled the book for me a bit, because I had liked Kai up to this point, but the ick that gave me basically made it impossible for me to carry on liking him for the remainder of the book.

If you can overlook that, this is an easy, entertaining read. I enjoy Doe's writing and although it was not a funny ha-ha romcom, it was still charming for the most part.

Over-the-top and completely unrealistic in so many different ways. Duh, that's the point. Romantic comedy that's sweet and kind, endearing and sexy as fuck. My favorite so far. And on that happy note, I'm now going to turn to more dark and disturbing fare from Devon Doe's alter ego. The power of Christ compels me! Bah, hah, hah ...

Straight Crush // Am I The Problem 4 // Devon Doe

Y’all, I have been waiting for Kai’s book and he was all the sparkly unicorn I could have wanted and so much more. There was a depth, a struggle, and plenty of personal growth to give our pretty boy on a roller skates an emotional story of learning to love and trust. In Straight Crush, artist, roller skate wearing waiter, and pretty boy extraordinaire meets a squatter in his newly inherited house. Jake, a burly big bear of a man, is down on his luck after an accident and has found himself homeless and struggling. The men take a chance on each other in a wild fake boyfriend theme that only stays fake for so long…What follows is a comedic romcom, with plenty of spice, and a healthy balance of emotion. Enjoy!

Adorable Fake Dating

Twas an adorable tale of failed fake dating. Jake really flourished after so many mishaps in life once he met Kai. Kai is just a bundle of wonderfulness that Jake needed in his life and watching their fake turn real relationship was beautiful to see.

Super cute

I love bi-awakenings and this was done so well here. There's a slow burn while Jake comes to terms with his identity and attraction to Kai, but it's all the other stuff that sold it for me.
Kai never treats Jake like a charity case. He empowers him at every turn. Gives him back his sense of self and allows him to grow.
Jake has self esteem issues due to his accident and subsequent struggles, but he takes Kai at face value and their friendship was just the sweetest!
Levi was a lot more prominent in this book, warming us up for his one next. It'll be hard to top this one though

Fake boyfriend? But he’s homeless? 🙃 Kai doesn’t want his friends setting him up with anyone. So when he moves into his newly inherited home & finds someone living there, he comes up with a plan. Jake helps out Kai by being his fake bf but he gets to stay there rent free and has to help fix up the house. It needs many repairs 😅 Kai is such a giving person and he made swoon the whole time! They’re exactly what each other needs. I love Devon’s books & I NEED TO KNOW what happens with Levi.

This was such an unexpected gem of a book!
I initially wanted to read this book because anything that has grumpy/sunshine is my catnip and a good friend of mine was also reading it but I was totally captivated by the story, the main characters and the care that went into some of the heavy topics that the book discussed (homelessness, prior abusive relationship).
This was a cute, emotional read that was funny, insightful and tender. Highly recommend!
I will be going back and reading prior books on this series.

sooo i have thoughts... It feels like the author was unconsciously associating Kai's demisexuality with the trauma and abuse he received from his ex-partner. And also this idea everyone had in the book that you NEED to have a partner... That you NEED to be in a relationship to be happy... yeah I was totally not feeling that at all... like leave Kai alone... of course I'm happy that he had a HEA but seriously. And this idea that he couldn't tell them that he didn't want a partner... yeah... annoying...
As someone who did the whole marriage and heard 'you need to have a boyfriend'/'wow your first boyfriend was at 21' and all that other BS only to realize I was happier before being with someone than after getting married...yeahhh... annoying...
though the way they worked on communication was good... communication is very important in any relationship so I'm glad that was included...

Oh, my heart!

This was such a super cute and wholesome love story!
I'm all in when it comes to self discovery, an absolute sunshine Twinkie (Kai, I'm talking about Kai), a big Bear (not the animal!) and some fake-boyfriend/only one bed scenario that gives me all the cuddles (YES PLEASE!)

Jake and Kai were both admirable!
No matter what life threw at them, both came out as such strong characters!

Even if there were some tough topics discussed, like struggling with homelessness, homophobic family (and emotional abuse), past toxic relationships, and how a sudden disability can change your life (and exclude you from society) the whole story was uplifting, hopeful, emotional, wholesome and gave me a lighthearted feeling!

I really loved the pace (medium to slow-ish) especially in hindsight that there was demisexual representation and selfexploration (bi awakening) and the relationship growth was chef's kiss!

The moments they were intimate together were hot, hot, hot as well <3

I loved to get also more amazing "found family/strong friend group" moments and the whole setting around Rainbowology is so cool, I wish I had something like this in my own life!
They were all great cameos, and Levi gave such an amazing "big bro" and support character for both MCs!

I loved that a lot was properly discussed, and issues were solved (sometimes sooner, sometimes later) but I think the key-message to communicate was definitely omnipresent, what I absolutely loved!

There's an super satisfying Epilogue as well as a super cute bonus scene (extra download) that made my heart just more swoon :D

I am so happy, that I got the opportunity to get my grabby hands on an early copy!

(EN) Fourth book of the series and Devon never ceases to amaze me, making each story unique, diverse in its topics but always maintaining a funny nuance that is its own.
In this case, the plot raises really sensitive issues since both characters have suffered a lot before meeting each other. Even so, the author manages to make us have a lot of fun reading, maintaining a low level of anguish.
Now, it's KAI's story!!!!!! We’ve learned to love him in the previous books. Knowing his past, we just have to love him much more. What to say about Jake, we empathize with him from the first moment and the development of his character is beautiful. This couple really deserved to have their HEA!!!! And they have it in the epilogue and in the extra scene that can be obtained on the author's page.
Thanks Devon for giving me the ARC to do this review.

This book has Grumpy/sunshine, fake dating, size difference, disability rep, and forced proximity/one bed. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Jake is our ‘straight’ teddy bear character. When he first meets Kai, he’s been out of work and homeless for two years due to an accident. He’s lost all faith in himself and other people. He’s ignorant about the queer community, by his own admission, and comes across a bit homophobic in the beginning. He is the grumpy to Kai’s sunshine.

And Kai is all sunshine and rainbows☀️🌈
He is pink and glitter and crop tops and a swirled pastel VW Beetle that his friends named the Twinkmobile. He has fully embraced who he is and is up for giving Jake a crash course into his world.

They strike a mutually beneficial bargain and before you know it, Jake has a free place to stay and a fake boyfriend! It’s not long before he’s won over by Kai’s generosity and sweetness and finds himself musing, “I’ve spent my days trying to be as invisible as I can, but Kai makes me feel seen. . .[he] embraces all of me, going as far as calling me a new friend less than an hour after we’d met.”

They are both dealing with trauma from their pasts in different ways. Kai has closed himself off from dating anyone, and as their relationship turns serious, he has a lot of insecurity to work through. Jake had definite ideas about masculinity, but his eyes are really opened by Kai and his group of supportive queer friends. His character growth throughout the book is my favorite part of this one. He needed someone to give him a chance and believe in him again, and that led to him believing in himself and discovering the person he was meant to be.

I’d say this one is 2/5 on the 🌶️ scale due to the whole fake dating and both men having to get their heads out of their own asses!😂

This is the 4th book in this series but can be read as a standalone.

I’ve been aching for this book since the series started, there was something about Kai, the waiter of Rainbowology, that appealed to me from the beginning. The bright, bubbly, glittery, lovable, flirtatious, ray-of-sunshine guy who works on skates and has his hair died baby blue and styled with colorful pins. He is such a sweetheart, so why is he single? There were hints in the other three books that made it seem like there was much more to Kai behind his colorful clothes and sassy personality, and I needed to know what that was.

And well, Kai does have a lot going on underneath his happy self. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll leave it there.

The book is great, all the books in this series have been amazing. The story is engaging, entertaining, well-told, and consistent. The characters… well, Kai did not disappoint! he is amazingly sweet, positive, kind, lovable, sassy, he’s perfect! and Jake, the grumpy, straight, and down-on-his-luck guy he crushes on, is also great. Jake is a relatable character, I think we all have a bit of him when life kicks us when we are down. So, the dynamic between a ray of positive sunshine like Kai, and a dark cloud of pessimism like Jake, is entertaining, amusing, and more often than not, makes you stop and consider your own life and how to see it from Kai’s perspective.

Do you need to read the previous books to enjoy this one? I’d say, technically, no. However, all the characters from the previous books show up here, and you’ll enjoy the book so much more if you read the other three first.

Kai is one of my favourite characters in this series & I was so excited to read his story & I wasn't disappointed by how beautifully Devon wrote his story.

Kai is one of the most kindhearted souls & when he meets Jake at the home he has inherited from his aunt, he is there to help him in return for some labour to renovate the house. Jake is a homeless person who also has a disability because of which he doesn't get any jobs. But when Kai also asks him to be his fake boyfriend, he agrees because he doesn't want to be homeless again and though he is straight he plays his part very well & helps him with the renovation of his house.

Kai & Jake had the cutest relationship, even their friendship was pure though Kai was starting to have a crush on Jake & the other side Jake was struggling with his feelings. I liked how both of them were strong even after going through so much in their past. They were some misunderstandings but I liked how they talked about it & decided to talk if they ever feel insecure in their relationship. The growth in their relationship was so amazingly written I loved it. The Epilogue & the bonus scene was just what I needed & it was such a cute moment between them, I liked it so much.

I liked how Levi was there for both of them, I liked his relationship with them a lot in this book & I am looking forward to his story.

Who doesn't love a grumpy/sunshine & fake dating trope? Straight Crush is the fourth book in the Am I the Problem series.

Kai's kindhearted nature shines through when he meets Jake at the home he inherited from his aunt. Offering to help Jake in exchange for some labor to renovate the house, Kai helps him get back on his feet. Jake, a homeless individual with an injury that hinders job opportunities, agrees to be Kai's fake boyfriend to avoid homelessness again.

Their friendship was sweet, and it was evident that Kai had developed feelings for Jake while Jake struggled with his own emotions. There were misunderstandings along the way, but I admired how they openly communicated and addressed their insecurities. The gradual development of their relationship makes their journey from fake to real endearing. Their growth as a couple and individually was greatly portrayed, leading to them discovering who they are and can be.

There aren't a lot of steamy scenes, but overall, Kai and Jake's journey was great to read.

I love finding new to me authors. I signed up for the Arc of Oblivious Roommate (book 1) and was so hooked. I devour romcoms and it delivered. So, of course I NEEDED to keep going.

Straight Crush is Book 4 in the Am I The Problem series. And we finally get to Kai’s story. Levi describes him as a pocket rocket and that is so apt. Kai is a 22 year old guy who is selfless and lovable. He inherits a run down house and finds a squatter. A sexy bear of a squatter. Jake was in an accident at work and lost his leg, his job, and his girlfriend. He is a certified electrician with all kinds of general construction experience so Kai sees an opportunity. They fake date and Jake has a place to stay and can help renovate the house.

Jake is straight, until he isn’t, and learns to navigate what that means for him. I love how these two men interact with each other. Kai has a very unique outlook on life and is very positive. These two are super cute.

Devon Doe has created a fun town full of queer friendly people, adorkable couples, and a coffee shop for them all to enjoy.

Jake has to work out if he want's Kai because he's available and convenient, or if he actually wants Kai specifically. I loved how touchy feely these two are right from the start. It leads to a lot of longing and a beautiful bi-awakening. I also really appreciated getting to know Kai outside of his Rainbowology persona. His artwork sounds fabulous, and he's really pulled himself out of his horrible upbringing to become his adorable Pocket-Rocket self. Seeing Jake come out of his depression and wanting to grow as a person outside of the relationship was so affirming. There is a lot of pining, but I wouldn't necessarily call it angst. The bonus story was icing on this fluffy cake! I really can't wait for Levi's story :)

Jake is a lovely teddy bear of a man who’s been dealt some tough blows that have left him fighting to make a go every day. He’s an amazing pairing for the firecracker of a guy, Kai. Kai is full of life but also keeps some emotional distance.

These two bring out the absolute best in each other, and though they fumble through things, and though they both make some mistakes, they always have the other's best interest at heart and want to see them succeed in all the ways.

It covers a lot of issues but keeps it light enough to feel like a fun read, while still addressing them and giving you some hopeful resolutions.

This is the first book I've read by this author. While it is the 4th in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. The previous books look like they would give background on the secondary characters in this story. Personally, having that extra info would have helped me keep the secondary characters strait, but I still enjoyed this story and had no issues following it

This is a very sweet, low angst story. It's a fairly slow burn but the heat does turn up at the end. I love the fake relationship/bi-awakening tropes, and this was an interesting spin on them. I'm definitely going to have to go back and read the rest of the series, and I am absolutely looking forward to Levi's story!

I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

Based on the cover, I was very much expecting this to be focussed on straight-man-turned-confused-turned-maybe bisexual? bear Jake, but this felt like it was very much Kai's story - an adorable, glitter and unicorns loving twink with a heart of gold and some severe emotional trauma well disguised behind a sunny disposition, who I just wanted to take home with me and hug. Unlike so many bisexual-awakening books, this one didn't gloss over the many insecurities and hurdles of someone realising late in life they might not be quite as hetero as they'd always thought, and I loved that about it. It was my first read in this series (and this author!), and though they're interconnected I thought it stood perfectly by itself. Would totally recommend for all lovers of spicy MM romance.

Another case of awful cover but good book.
Really enjoyed living in Jake's head. I see him more as a brave and lucid gfy (with a preference for fun sized androgynous men) than a total bisexual guy, at least at that part of his life. I had a bit more difficulty warming up to the flamboyant rocket pocket... He just felt like a childish and insecure 22 yo (which is just how most men are at that age tbh). Couldn't really see him settling down and in fact I think he should have been the one experimenting when it came to sex life and overall identity (especially given his past trauma). A bit like goth people that outgrow the lifestyle once they reach a certain age... Probably why I liked the HFN given to us instead of a HEA that would have been out of place.

Loved the not-so straight crush

I loved getting to know Kai and meet Jake. Getting to know them, their stories and see their relationship grow and evolve was wonderful. I couldn’t put this book down. Devon Devoe has created a wonderful world that I just can’t wait to read more about. This series is wonderful and full of heart. Kai is just absolutely adorable, loving and kind, with a big heart. Jake has been through a lot and is super down on his luck. Them finding each other is kismet. They are two amazing men, that fit like puzzle pieces. Highly recommend. HEA with the best of friends in tow.

! RECOMMEND!

I really enjoyed this beauty! 🏳️‍🌈❤️📚

Kai inherited a house and found a homeless man living in it. The house needs a handyman who can fix the house and a homeless man needs a place to stay. There is a win win situation. Kai also needs a fake boyfriend.

Jake has been homeless since his accident two years ago. He is squatting at some abandoned house. When the new owner shows up they strike a deal. Jake will work on the house for free and stay in it. But Jake gets one more gig. He will pretend to be Kai's boyfriend. Yeah Jake is straight but there is something about Kai that draws him toward him. Is he straight or bi?

Funny and light read!

This book was awesome. I loved Kai. He was so sweet right from the start. He could've been rude and mean but he chose love instead. And Jake, he took everything in stride it was even sweeter. He played his role very convincingly. I loved it. I was glad it kinda took months for them to get to a place where everything was real for both of them. I was glad for Levi. He was there for both Jake and Kai when they both screwed up. It was super sweet. This whole book was sweet. I loved Kai and Jake together so much! My favorite couple yet.
