Kelley Nikondeha is a writer, liberation theologian, and community development practitioner. She combines biblical texts and various cultural contexts to discover insights for embodied justice, community engagement, and living faith.
I am fortunate to lead a Bible study group that is open to digging deep and discussing sometimes difficult issues that challenge their understanding of of the world as well as their faith. The conversations around each chapter of this book were rich and everyone participated. They appreciated the choice and I lived leading the conversation with them. Not go every congregation probably as it is not a light and fluffy, feel good book. It wrestles with the reality of life in empire, what the incarnation of God in Jesus meant and means for us even today.
Kelly Nikondeha weaves the story of advent with stories from people in Palestine and creates an interesting narrative. During this time where Christianity is being used to divide people, this book provides excellent clarity on how it should be uniting us all.
