Mike Chapman is a classic car broker, he’s about to close what could be the biggest deal of his career but things don’t go according to plan.
That’s the premise here, the thriller element only accounts for about a quarter of the book though. There’s a lot of background and scene setting, descriptions of deals and plenty of ‘wealth porn’ – expensive cars and watches, fine wines, etc. While this provides great atmosphere it doesn’t add much to the main plot.
It’s an interesting insight into the world of classic trading, you’ll want to read it with Google handy though if you’re not an aficionado.
Overall this is nicely written and an enjoyable read but it’s not quite the thriller set in the car world that the blurb suggests, more a book about car trading with a short thriller attached.
