Sierra Pacey has a modest life on a ranch in the foothills of Alberta, Canada. Horses, cattle, and an old farm truck are all that she needs. At least, that's what she keeps trying to tell herself. An invitation to compete on a national baking show has her questioning if she could perhaps want more.

Rhett Wright is just trying to get his head back in the game again. After his father's passing, he is attempting to find his new normal. That normal now involves one less family member and a crazy ex who is willing to publish his personal details online. All he wants is to lean in the one person who won't even look his way.

The two haven't spoken in years, but just a single photo snapped during a hockey game breaks their silence. Turns out a little publicity might be just what they need. Or it might ruin everything.

"And you know that I've loved you for as long as I've known you. I can fly all over the world. I can play hockey in every arena, in every city. But I want to always come home to you. You are home."

This was a super fun read. I loved getting some Alberta book representation, and having it set in the small town of Nanton, where I have spent my fair share rodeoing in (and devouring the shelves of my favourite candy store), made it even better. The author is clearly a horse person, and I felt I could finally relax in her horse-capable hands without having to worry about things being inaccurate.
The characters were both fun and well-written. Rhett was a sweet cinnamon roll. I do wish we would have gotten to see a bit more of the hockey side of things, and that the pace would have been a bit faster, but overall I really enjoyed it!

I really loved this book! Sierra and Rhett felt so real—like people you could actually know. I was rooting for Sierra the whole time, especially as she started to realize maybe she wanted more than just ranch life. And Rhett? He’s been through so much, but you can’t help but love him. Their story had just the right mix of sweet, emotional, and a little messy in the best way. It’s one of those books that sticks with you after you finish. So good

✔️Canadian Author
✔️Small Town (Prairie) Romance
✔️Second chance love

I found this book on Tik Tok and it intrigued me! I loved that it was set in Nanton and Calgary and having been to both of those places, the author really made it feel authentic! Sierra and Rhett's story was well fleshed out and their struggles felt real. I can't wait to see what else this author comes out with!

DNF @ 52%. I usually love a good sports romance, but the pacing in this one felt too slow for me, and I never quite connected with the characters. I kept waiting for something to click, but it just didn’t. Ultimately, it wasn’t the right fit for me.

A fun ride

A fun ride, a great mix of hockey and ranch romance. Lots of twists, turns and pucks. Two villains you don't see coming.
