Alpha's Rejects #4

Alpha & Omega

Rate this book
This is not a shifter/Omegaverse romance

Please, please be careful of spoilers in this book. There is a big plot twist.

I’m stubborn, but even I can admit I need help from my family and Harley.

Omega (Harley)

Hudson’s mother abandoned us six years ago, leaving me to pick up the pieces of my son’s distraught heart. With therapy and hard work, life is good. I’m the chef and owner of a successful restaurant, and Hudson is thriving. Now I want to date. After meeting Kingston McLaren on a dating app, we hit it off immediately. However, I made the mistake of overstepping my bounds, causing a rift between us. I refuse to let this be the end of us, so I’ll fix this in any way I can. But when Kingston’s world suddenly crumbles, I’ll do whatever it takes to put it back together. It’s time someone took care of him.

Alpha (Kingston)

My family of Rejects and my bar are everything to me. Since they've been finding love, they're convinced I need a love intervention of my own. To get them off my back, I met Harley Creed through a dating app, and we meshed perfectly. But when Harley butts his nose where it doesn’t belong, I’m over it. Alpha’s Rejects Bar is mine, and no one will get in the way of that. Harley is determined to fix things, though, and my heart never stood a chance. But life is good at kicking you in the balls just when you see a light at the end of the tunnel. Now it’s much more than my heart on the line.

This book is the fourth in a series, but like all my books, it can be read as a standalone.

Please read the triggers before picking up this book.

CW: Abandonment by parents, foster care, mentions of death of a grandmother, alcoholism, alcohol abuse, recovering alcoholic, drunk driving and vehicular accident involving drunk drive, off page domestic abuse (non-MC), death of a parent, drinking alcohol, strong language, and sex. Other triggers will be listed in the book since they are spoilers.

About the author

Courtney W. Dixon

Courtney W. Dixon loves to write steamy hurt/comfort romance, giving her characters challenges, struggles, and sometimes trauma... Fine, a LOT of trauma. Her team teases her about charging her for their therapy bills after reading one of her books.

She loves to add variety and multiple tropes in her stories along with different types of dynamics/relationships. And she writes her characters as having flaws, imperfections, and who don't always do the right thing. Humans are sometimes frustrating, never perfect, and make a lot of mistakes in their lives. Courtney enjoys pushing her characters, making their HEAs so much more worth it when they get there. Mental health is a big feature in her books.

She loves her coffee ice cream and popcorn a little too much. And her cat, Olly, is her co-writer, where he sleeps on an ottoman under her desk as her muse. Actually, he's rather useless, but he's adorable.

The whole series: ♾️⭐

Ever since I started the Alpha's Rejects series, I’ve been waiting for Alpha’s story. From book one, I needed to know more about him. Like, how the hell could someone so young carry that much weight on his shoulders and still be the rock for everyone else? I was hooked from the start and when his book finally dropped, it did not disappoint.

Alpha & Omega is the crown jewel that confirms what I already knew: this story is staying with me forever.

Tbh, this was the most emotionally intense book of the series for me. There’s a plot twist I absolutely did not see coming, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it (might take me a while), but that’s also what made it feel so raw, so real.

The love between Kingston (Alpha) and Harley (Omega) is pure, honest, loyal, and beautiful. The kind of love that doesn’t feel rushed or fake. It’s built slowly, brick by brick, with scars, doubts, and real love at its core.

Courtney W. Dixon proves once again that she gets it when it comes to mental health and personal growth. The found family vibe especially in this book is a 10/10. It’s a powerful reminder that family isn’t always blood. It’s the people who choose you, who stay, who hold your hand when everything falls apart. These renegades live in my heart forever. I’ve completely fallen in love with.

The ending is so beautiful. The HEA is totally there. But there’s this one twist that absolutely shattered me. So while this book deserves all the stars, my broken heart is holding back just a little. That said, the series as a whole... Infinite stars.

First of all, this is not an omegaverse/shifter story 🤭

I loved the couples from this series so much so far and I really loved Harley & Kingston as well 🥰

Both MCs are such great guys, it really warms your heart. The two of them hit off very fast but then life comes in between and causes them some troubles.

I loved how they acted around each other and their whole dynamic. Meeting the couples from the previous books made it extra good.

Don't mind me — just reading until 4 AM because I couldn't put this book down until the very last page!

Also, let me just add mine before I get started - because there was a happy ending, but I'm not happy, with you Courtney 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻

Kingston & Harley start dating because they're both lonely, and their families push them to "get out there."
They immediately hit it off on one of the most perfect first dates I've come to read in a hot minute.
They had amazing chemistry and you could tell from the first date that this would be an epic love that would be strong enough to withstand anything that comes it's way. And oh my god, did it indeed...

Through everything that happened, Harley was by Alpha's side helping him and being strong for him & his Rejects. If the roles were reversed, no doubt Alpha would've done the exact same thing for him & Hudson.

I'm so happy that we got to see all the Rejects come together, with Harley, Hudson & even Tony, to care for Alpha for once.
He's always had to be the strongest person for everyone else, so to see that love and support when he was at his lowest was amazing.

The epilogues. Oh my gods. The fucking epilogues!!

“You’re always taking care of me.”
“Well, I expect you to take care of me in return when I’m old and can barely walk.”
“That’s a given.”
“Yeah? Does that mean you’ve been dreaming of a life with me forever and ever?”
“If you think I’ll ever let you go, you’re nuts. You belong to me now… forever and ever.”

Not spoiling anything, but when he got out there again for the first time, that healed my broken heart. I was so happy for him.

A Halloween wedding & the some wedding cake sex? Hot as fuck.
How could this book end any better!

“I love you, Chef."
“I love you, Skaterboy.”

I can't wait for Cueball's book next.
Let's see how you fuck up his life, for the better of course 🖤

Alpha and Omega is book 4 in the Alpha’s Rejects series

This is your vibe if you like
Skaters
Found Family
Hurt/comfort

It was a good time to dive back into Alpha’s world. In the first few books we see Alpha as the heart of their group, the one they lean on and rely on in times of crisis.
This focuses on Alpha’s journey to love with Omega and the support of his found family.
While it has moments that will punch your feels I still maintain it’s a feel good low angst series.

Reread as audiobook - wonderful narrator. Definitely the book affecting me the most in this series, there were some particularly heartbreaking scenes. Alpha (Kingston) has constantly supported his found family in the previous books, even using his prize money to start a bar business to make sure they could have jobs and some financial support. He is particularly impressive with helping with mental health struggles and encouraging and paying for their therapy. Harley (Omega) is a new character, and it was beautiful how he didn't let Kingston push him away for long. It was wonderful to see the growth of the found family and how they supported Alpha when he needed it most.

I wanted Alpha to have his own story since book 1, I think, and yay, it's here!
And of course, just because we all waited for it so much, Courtney decided to make it not an easy journey at all :D

Kingston (Alpha) is kind of a person who you definitely would love to have in your corner. He's always here for his Rejects, for everyone, really, except for himself. And although his found family, his business and skating let him lead quite satisfactory life, one thing in the equation is missing - and it's love.
Harley (Omega) is a single dad (his son is 16, so if you're not into single dads in your books, this one isn't scary, I promise. Hudson is more like a friend to Harley, loved it) who is also a successful chef who is also lacking that last part, such as Alpha.

Their relationship blooms beautifully and you really can feel the soulmatism in here. But, as I said, this journey ain't easy. Both Harley and Alpha deserve absolute best, they are the greenest flags you can find out there, and to see them suffer is like a stab straight to the heart.
That being said, my heart absolutely broke for Alpha. His feelings were so raw and I totally get that it's super hard to accept help when all your life you were the one the others relied on. But it showed how important is to learn to take a step back and trust the others. Actually, I really loved how the whole situation made his Rejects shine.

All stories, this included, always feels very well researched and real, and we all should say 'Thank you, Courtney'. Heavy topics are treated with care and it somehow makes you feel even bigger feels for the characters.
As always, there's no need to read the previous books in the series - this will make perfect sense nevertheless - but I still highly recommend to meet Alpha's Rejects one by one. They're sweethearts.

Since the very first book in Alpha's Rejects; Stix & Stone, I've been intrigued about Alpha. This fatherly figure of this found family. Alpha has worked himself up from the bottom. Owning his own business, the beloved Alphas Rejects Bar, taking in kids that need & want to feel belonged. Alpha is one who is taking care of everyone around him. Always doing for others. He always had my heart from day one. I couldn't wait for his book!

Courtney brought it! Unbelievably, it makes me cry like 3 times, which I normally don't do. Alpha meets Harley, a restaurant owner and single dad. These two mcs couldn't be more perfect for each other. The way they come together just warms your heart. The depth of these characters is deep but in such a beautifully simple way. Their vulnerability, and love, gahhhhh

This story shows the power of resilience, fighting for what you want, overcoming the odds, and coming together as a family no matter if you are blood related or not. I can’t say too much here even though I want to keep going so bad. I don't want to accidentally spoil something, so just read this series! It's heartwarming, sexy, fun, with complex characters that live a simple life that's not always easy. Their found family is everything to them & one that they can't live without 💙

Characters: Kingston (Alpha) and Harley (Omega)

I loved every single second of the this with one small exception. Honestly, the entire relationship between King and Harley was so good and their HEA was so hard won. I loved seeing the entire crew and how they came together. I don't want to give any spoilers so I'm trying to keep this vague. Truthfully, this was an emotional and beautiful story.
My only exception was the return of the mother. I'm happy that the part was very minimal, but it didn't feel necessary to the story and personally I just didn't enjoy the inclusion of her, especially in the way it was done (meaning her reasons why she returned). This is purely personal though and something I know I dislike in mm romance including single dads.

See, while I won't consider that I read this fully ('cause I skipped a ton, as I haven't read the previous books- but the found family feels were enough that I didn't have any problem) as I was just checking it out but it had me enamoured & curious enough that I really wanted to see what the plot twists was & let me just say those chapters I TOTALLY devoured. Emotional punches omg! Anyhow, King & Harley's story is pretty sweet & lowish angst in on itself other than the little hiccup caused by H's overstep. They sticked together, I was happy to see Alpha being cared for 🥺💞. As I did spend almost 4hrs of my life on this, I'm adding it to my reading pile BUT I hope I start this series from the beginning someday!

Oh, how I adore that book; it is just perfect. I love Alpha (Kingston) and Omega (Harley) so much. I knew that nothing good could happen when a book started peacefully. Courtney, why did you do that? My heart broke! Alpha & Omega shows why I'm a sucker for Courtney's books. She is so talented, and I've never had a book that was below 5 that was written by her. I just love all her books. And I'm also a sucker for Harley Chase. He became one of my favorite narrators. He brings the stories to life; he nails everything he narrates😫🤌

I really enjoyed this! We finally got Alpha's story, and wow! What story it was! After Alpha helped the rejects and anyone he could, now it's time for them to be there for Alpha. Omega(Harley) is the best partner for Alpha(Kingston). Their story was sweet and very romantic. I loved how they hit it off from the start. I really enjoyed the slowish build of feelings and their connection. I loved how they gave each other the love and acceptance they needed and deserved.
I loved seeing all the rejects and loved the found family they have together! There is so much live between the group, and it's beautiful to see. I also feel like Harley and his son Hudson are the perfect additions to that found family.

A lot of found family here and a good plot twist but could have used more length to really hit home. Alpha (Kingston) is the owner of the rejects bar and is basically the father figure for all the boys we’ve seen in the past books. This story overlaps with Ajax’s book but the idea is that the Rejects are harassing Alpha to start dating and find someone to spend time with because he deserves to be happy but Alpha has a lot going on. His bar is in trouble after paying all the hospital bills from the last book, he has a foster brother he looks out for and his bar is in trouble with a new restaurant opening next door. Even so, he is lonely so he joins a dating app and meets Omega (Harley) and they hit it off instantly. Harley is a single dad to a teenage son when his ex wife took off a decade prior. They go out and talk and flirt so easily and they hook up immediately. They really like each hother but King gets a little apprehensive when he learns Harley is the owner of the competing restaurant next door and is head chef. Even so, they like each other so they continue dating but then Harley has an idea to merge businesses and looks into Kings financial reports and when he mentions it to King, king loses his shit. He thinks Harley is trying to steal his bar and is using him for his business which couldn’t be further from the truth. Harley is insistent to talk to King and explain but then Ajax is in the hospital with his suicidal ideations and King just has other things to worry about. Then Harley comes to the bar and demands they talk this out and they do work it out and pick back up. Things are going great and they get past the miscommunication but then Kingston is in a horrific car accident that results in him LOSING HIS LEG! Harley sticks by him the whole time and won’t let King push him away. Harley is literally perfect and even organizes a fundraiser to help his bar during his recovery time while they wait for his insurance money to come in.

I didn’t like the way the return of the exwife played out. She comes back and is dying with 6 weeks to live and his son wants to get to know her which infuriates Harley but he allows it. We get nothing with that - she dies in the epilogue and his son was by her side. No insight there. I also think Kingston pushing Harley away was predictable but not dramatic enough. The guy is the one everyone depends on and he loves skateboarding and he loses his leg, is losing his bar and can’t skateboard - I’d think he’d be lashing out way more. Also at the end with the bar struggling and he asks Harley to take it over so the guys can keep their jobs but Harley is won’t because of the last time. Like weren’t they past that by then? I’d also would have liked to see more of kingstons struggle adopting to life with a prosthetic.

Overall it was a good read. Read in a few hours.

It is hard to write this review without giving anything away. I absolutely loved Alpha and Omega. I adore the Alpha’s Rejects and seeing how they love and support each other. While each of the books is a standalone, it is best to read them in order. Particularly, I would read Blaze & Ajax before Alpha & Omega because there is a slight timeline overlap that would spoil an event in B&A. Kingston (Alpha) is the ringleader of their family, and feels a fierce protectiveness and responsibility towards his Rejects. Enter Harley (Omega), who falls for Kingston very quickly and hopes to be his partner. He just has to earn Kingston’s trust, which is not easy. They are wonderful together, and I love how they both step up for the other.

Edited to add:
Just reread this via audiobook and wow!!! Harley Chase nails it perfectly. He’s such a great narrator, it really enhanced the emotion and the entire experience. Which wasn’t so good when it made me cry! But that only happened because it’s so well written and narrated - you’re heavily invested in the events. Kudos to both of you for a wonderful book/audiobook.

A beautifully tragic twist of fate

This book was beautifully done and the twist by Courtney was done wonderfully. Some people may feel like it was something or another, but I think it was the only way for Alpha to grow and learn to rely on the family he created and the man he was falling for. To learn truly that their love wasn’t conditional. It was not about the jobs he provided them or the stability he signified or the new relationship bliss- he was loved for being him.

Alpha is such an independent man who tries to provide for everyone in his little family. The glimpses we caught of him in the other books always spoke on him in such a great light, but there was also that undertone that he was working himself to the bone and losing time to pursue his passion of skateboarding and being with the family he created in his Alpha rejects crew. I was so excited for this book and to see Alpha’s story brought to life. Alpha was another real character with real problems. He had harsh teenage years that left him providing for himself and instead of turning completely bitter towards the world he found a passion in skating, therapy, and then began helping others who had gone through similar situations creating the family he never got to have. This early need to provide for himself and then them made Alpha hyper-independent. He truly struggled to ask for any help or admit that he was in need of help in any way because he didn’t want to disappoint the ones he loved. This even caused tension with Omega in the start of their relationship because he struggled to admit to struggling with the bar and then the mention of help felt like a hostile takeover. It felt like Alpha truly thought the crew and even Omega could only love him for what he was able to do for them, that it was all conditional. The twist hurt, I cried for this man who was starting to regain his passions and found a man to have a HEA with to be thrown into an unknown situation and have to accept the help of others was a lot. But it truly felt necessary and I am so thankful he had his little family, but also Omega. Omega felt like this glue that kept Alpha from fully pulling away and trying to hold onto that stubborn independence. Omega was this perfect outside influence that constantly showed up and showed Alpha that just being there is worthy of being loved for.

Omega was not just a great partner to Alpha, but was a wonderful character himself. Talk about a walking green flag who could’ve easily turned into an asshole or ghosted Alpha after there initial tension and after the twist but no, he kept pushing for the man he was falling in love for. Omega was also a busy business owner and father to a teenager navigating teenage relationships. He had a lot on his plate like Alpha and showed them both that they could work together as long as they tried. He even showed up for the rejects and made them a priority to be involved with and learned to understand their mental struggles because they were Alpha’s family. These two made their relationship work and carved out time to spend together and grow their romance past being casual because they both wanted it. They clicked so quickly and the connection felt authentic between them throughout the story. These men were the perfect pair and deserved the HEA they found in each other as Chef and Skaterboy!

I read an ARC of this book and this is my authentic opinion about this book. I love this series and cannot wait to see the next book released.

While Blaze & Ajax will forever be one of my fav books and will always have a special place in my heart, objectively ( and subjectively too, ofc ) speaking Alpha's story is the best in the series.

I can understand that this might not be everyone's fav, idk why, but whatever, this story was so beautiful. So, so beautiful.

Alpha, or King, is one of the most selfless characters I've read about in a LONG time, if not ever. Sure, there are others, but he is pure in his selflessness. He loves the Rejects with a passion, and he would do anything to protect them, see them succeed, and know they are all good and happy. He is a father figure in a way, but he is also young as well. Being 29, or 30 ( he is both in the book ) is not old, and yes, he is older than the others, but he is still young. Somehow his role always made him sound more mature in the other books ( ofc, in comparison with the other characters ) so seeing him struggle like everyone else was... not refreshing, cuz that's not the right word, but it was relatable, maybe? I also relate on a personal level with him, so... there's also that.

Omega, or Har, is the perfect match for Kingston. He is the one that brings out the best in our boy, and I am so happy they got to find each other. Harley has his own battles, but I feel like he was made to be King's support system and the one to bring together everyone in a more healthy way.

This book is not overly dramatic, but they go through some stuff ( I won't say more so I won't spoil anything ), but with Harley's help and maturity everyone can come out on the other end just fine. He was the rock everyone needed, not only Kingston, but everyone in the Rejects family, and I love him for this.

Har's romantic side made King less rough around the edges, and gave him not only hope for the future, but also the care and reassurance he was missing. Him being always the one people rely on is not easy, but having someone who can catch you if needed is priceless and important and Omega was exactly that for our Alpha.

I loved this book, as I said I think this is the best in the series, and this says a LOT since I love ALL OF THEM.

I am sad this series is over ( I've read Cueball before this one so... ) and that we need to part ways with our Rejects, but I will always be happy I found them, and I will for sure come back and re-read this series OVER and OVER and OVER again.

10 stars.

ARC REVIEW

Did I love Alpha even more? Absolutely! Did I cry? A thousand percent! This is the fourth book in the Alpha Rejects series, and in it, we finally get Alpha’s story, the man who, in the previous books, has always been the first to stand by his rejects. He is a true leader who always has a plan and a solution for everything. But in this book, we dive deeper into who he really is. We see the vulnerability he hides because he feels it’s his duty to keep everything under control.

On the other hand, Harley (Omega) is a hopeless romantic reentering the dating world, and by some twist of fate, he matches with Kingston (Alpha). This is where their relationship begins to develop, and they’re just so sweet and sexy together. They had instant chemistry, but that doesn’t mean everything was smooth sailing. However, they learned to communicate and navigate through it.
Harley came into Alpha’s life at the exact right moment, and oh my God, how I love Alpha. I think many of us can relate to him because he’s a character with a big heart, always helping others, yet he is also full of worries and problems. But he always puts his loved ones before himself, preferring that his family be okay while his own concerns take a backseat. However, his family “his Rejects” show him time and time again that the weight he feels he must carry alone can be eased by their support.

I adore this found family so much because, here, they had to strengthen their bond even more and prove that it would always stay unbreakable, that they would be there for each other through thick and thin. And the constant support Harley gave Alpha, especially during moments when even Alpha himself didn’t believe he could make it through… their HEA was everything! It made me laugh, it made me swoon, and I completely fell for the creativity, it was so them!

Oh my heart. If I thought Blaze & Ajax were my favorites, then they have to make room for my babies King and Harley. What a wild ride their story has been, geez! I don’t want to spoil anything and like the author’s forword said, it’s best to go into this story blind. This story will break you apart and then piece you back together, promise!

Before the disappointment could hit me, he said, ”Spoon me. You like happily ever afters. I like to be held.”

Alpha meets Harley on a dating app, after his crew kept on nagging for him to find love. Now that everyone found their soulmates, it was his time. After chatting with Harley, they agree to go on a date. Hitting it off right away, fireworks and all, they start to offically date, even though they are both business owners and have a busy life.

”Yummy,” Kingston growled. “Nutella and your ass, two of my most favorite things. Talk about gourmet.”

Their story is rough, to say the least. Harley is a restaurant owner and dad of a teenage son. Kingston, ofcourse a bar owner of Alpha’s Rejects. He’s having some financial troubles after all the medical bills and him always trying to help everyone. And for his crew to reverse the roles and taking care of him for a chance? Oh my heart.

”You aren’t only important to me. I love how you see and hear me, even when I don’t say a word. I love how much of a fucking good person you are.”

I absolutely adored Alpha & Omega’s relationship. Harley is just a big cinnamonroll and he will do anything for his skaterboy, just like King is absolutely enamored by his Chef. They are just perfect together and their love filled me with so much joy. Really, they worked really hard for their HEA. You won’t be disappointed!

”I’ve got you, Skaterboy. I’ve got you.”

Courtney!! HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!! I have no words, I'm heartbroken for these two and their journey. Went in to it blind just like you asked, going smooth, so sweet, blissful, unaware, then BAM hit us with that whammy of a twist. HOW DARE YOU 😭

I love how real and vulnerable these two got even from their first meeting. They have such a strong intense connection. You know, when you meet someone and you just click and go, yup this is my person, this is how Kingston (Alpha) and Harley (Omega) were.

Alpha and his Rejects, they have found each other in their own time of need and created such a loving supportive family. With Alpha being the leader, he was always taking care of every one else but to see the tables turn and for everyone come together to support Alpha in his time of need, it was so sweet and beautiful.

Kingston with Hudson was incredible. I loved how their relationship blossomed. Harley was such an amazing dad. The talks, the acceptance, the love and the openness he had with Hudson, is what every son should have with their father. I love how the Rejects welcomed Hudson as well and even gave him his own nickname right away.

Trust me, I know that first little bit may scare and deter some of you, but please please please go in to this blindly and read about Alpha & Omega and their heartbreakingly beautiful story, you will not be disappointed! Don't worry, Courtney will put your heart back together by the end of the book.

I truly loved Kingston and Harley as a couple (Alpha & Omega). They had an instant connection and so much in common, but a misstep causes King to push Harley away. It's a good thing Harley is determind to make up for it and make King listen to him because they are perfect together.
Harley and his son have a good life now, but a blast from the past shows up and causes issues for them. While this situation disrupts their family life for a bit, it is actually a small part of the story.
For Kingston, he has been struggling financially and fears losing his bar, the place he opened to give himself and his crew (aka found family) a safe place to work and to belong. Despite King not being much older than his crew, he has taken on the role of father figure and is always there to help however he can. But one bad event leads to an even bigger, devastating one for King. Now the man who is always there for everyone else finds himself in need of help. He's so used to being the one others go to that he has a hard time accepting help for himself. Harley is determined to do whatever it takes to help get King through this, despite being pushed away. Between Harley and the crew of rejects, they eventually get through to King and he learns to accept their help.
There are so many emotions from sweet to steamy to volatile, and there is so much love to be found in this book. The MC's are amazing men with a lot of twists to navigate while discovering a deep connection and the genuine love they both deserve. The secondary characters add so much to the story, and it's great to see everyone from the previous books and know that all their connections are strong as well.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It is engaging, fast paced, has great character development, the powerful love of found family, and a wonderful HEA. I would recommend this book.

I received an ARC, this is my honest opinion.

"You aren't only important to me. I love how you see and hear me, even when I don't say a word." - Harley

"Despite all the sh!t happening around me, you keep me grounded with your patience and kindness." - Kingston

Harley (Omega) & Kingston (Alpha) really started dating because they wanted a partner for life and they took dating very serious. Also Kingston and Harley are both green flags, (they are both the type of men that their family goes to for advice because they make them feel safe), they were both very honest from the start and they have a lot in common. But Kingston is also stubborn and eventhough he was triggered, they still made it.

Harley has a 16 year old son, Hudson. I really love the encouragement from their family to start dating. Because they both deserve to find love. They could talk so easily, that's really refreshing to read, I just love this serie so much!! Definitely a 5 star Serie for me!

"I know the restaurant needs you, but you need you, too." - Hudson (Harley's son)

Hudson has such a good relationship with his dad that he even started working for him because he wants to spend more time with his dad, they have a very healthy relationship, they even talk about boys together and Hudson could also do that with Kingston. That says a lot about how Harley raised him. Also Harley loves reading romance books and I'm glad that he had his own romance (book).

"To some people looking in, I had a large family. To me, it wasn’t large enough." - Kingston

Kingston has always been there for his family and they were there for him too, when he needed them the most. He was really struggling in general but also financially and he had to learn how to accept help. Nobody can be strong forever but he has always been the person that helped others so that was new for him too.

I received an ARC copy of this book.

FINALLY we get Alpha's story. Long awaited if I'm being so honest here. I just had a feeling his story was going to be good. Especially when Harley was hinted at in the previous book. And that feeling I had was correct.

Alpha (Kingston) is THE Alpha. Who owns Alpha's rejects, the bar where he gives said rejects jobs. His family. He's always taking care of them, and he's forever grateful to have them in his life. But seeing them all finding love, it leaves him feeling quite lonely. Until his family insists on him putting himself out there. Through a dating app, Alpha meets Harley (Omega). Restaurant owner and dad to a teen. Upon meeting, it's safe to say they hit off immediately. After this first successful date, they both agree that they want to see more of each other. And they do. However, their HEA isn't immediate despite their immediate connection. Especially when something that happens that turns Kingston's entire world upside down. But despite Kingston's attempts to push him away, Harley has no intentions of leaving his side. And Kingston doesn't really want him to leave, but he fears the other getting tired of him.

Like any other book in this series, the found family vibes are everything. And I absolutely loved seeing a different side of this found family. The way the rejects (and Harley) banded together to help Kingston for a change. It was such a sweet thing to see Alpha being the one taken care of after all this time and reading his story just makes it all the more clear that he deserves so much. So much struggling in his life, and he's finally found happiness with Harley.

look. i’m a HUGE fan of this series. i absolutely adore these rejects, and i love alpha, because he’s the lynchpin of the group. without him, everything falls apart. well, courtney sees him. and she took the liberty of using his entire book to remind him that he needs to slow WAY down, and learn to lean on his family sometimes. which (as someone who is rather like kingston in my own life) is admittedly incredibly difficult to do. but king has spent years building this network of care (both financial and emotional) among his crew that has done everything to keep the people in his life happy, healthy, housed, and on their feet. well, in this book, unfortunately, kingston sees what happens when you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders for too long—eventually it crushes you. so much happens to alpha in this book. no joke—courtney legitimately puts him through the wringer. and the hard, and brutal truth, is that alpha comes out very different at the end of the book. better, in some ways—because he learned to lean on his loved ones when he needs help—but very different. but don’t feel too bad for alpha, courtney gives king his own lynchpin in harley. this strong, empathetic, loving, golden retriever of a chef that loves his skater boy enough to not put up with his gruff grumbly nonsense, to hold him when he doesn’t even know he needs it, and to catch him when he falls. he’s EXACTLY the person kingston needs, and he’s everything alpha deserves

this book is an emotional gut punch, but nonetheless a very fitting end to the alpha’s rejects part of the series. it will continue one with other guys adjacent to this group, which is great news, because i don’t think i’ll ever be ready to let go of this merry band of misfits. it has truly been a thing of joy to watch them all get their happily ever afters

This is book 4 in the Alpha's Rejects series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone read. This is the story of Kingston McLaren (Alpha) and Harley Creed (Omega). Kingston is the owner of Alpha’s Rejects Bar. He has put all his money and energy into keeping it going. He has also accumulated an assortment of lost souls who have become his found family. A natural leader and caregiver, Kingston gives everything he has to keeping all of their heads above water. Realizing that he is lonely and too busy to date, he signs up for a dating app. Mostly just to get his family off his back about being alone. Luckily, he gets matched with Harley. A more perfect match is not to be found anywhere. Harley is a single dad with an amazing son Hudson. He is also the owner and chef of his own restaurant. A restaurant that just happens to be next to Kingston's bar. The two of them had been texting and already had a fairly solid base when they discover the co-location. This is their story. The two of them have some communication struggles so it makes their road a little rocky. Harley sees how Kingston takes care of everyone else, but who takes care of Kingston. Harley would like that job. And when they have to face a life changing challenge, both men are eventually up for the challenge. This book is well written and easy to read. I really enjoyed their story. I liked how both MCs supported and cared for each other. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
