Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
I have enjoyed every one of the Cooper Harrington Detective Novels by Tammy L. Grace! Her newest one is Deadly Pursuit and it is the best one so far. They have all been really good but, I think Tammy has gone above and beyond the norm in this book. I didn’t want to put it down but, life gets in the way. I couldn’t wait to get back to it.
All of the books in the series have a different crime that Coop is trying to solve. So, they each stand alone but the main characters are always the same. Coop lives with his Aunt Camille and his father, Charlie who visits. He has a friend, Police Chief Ben Mason. They have breakfast together every Friday morning. Coop’s office manager and best friend is AB short for Abigail. I’ve been impatiently waiting for a romance to begin between those two. I may have spotted a few hints in this book! Time will tell. I highly suggest reading these books from the beginning because you learn the backstory of Coop’s life.
I always feel like I am with friends again when I start a new book in the series. It really helps that the stories take place around the Nashville area. I have lived near Nashville for many years. This particular book deals with a serial killer who may have abducted and killed many women in several states. I couldn’t wait to see if they were able to find the women and find the vile man that committed these crimes.
Tammy L. Grace did a fabulous job on this book. Her research was spot on and I appreciated the depth that she went. It will keep you reading long after your bedtime.
I highly recommend reading not only Deadly Pursuit but all of the books in the series. If you love mysteries, this book and series is a must read.
Until next time…Happy Reading!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not required to write a review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
Tammy L. Grace delivers a captivating mystery in Deadly Pursuit (book 6 in the Cooper Harrington Detective series). The narrative is engaging, featuring well-developed characters like Coop, the charming and determined private detective, and his loyal assistant, Annabelle (AB), who adds intelligence and depth to the investigation.
In this episode, a woman has gone missing, and Coop is called in to assist with the investigation. The team identifies a suspect, but they must gather evidence to prove his guilt. Alongside the police and his loyal dog Gus, Coop works tirelessly to establish the suspect's involvement in the crime, racing against time to locate the missing woman. Additionally, there are suspicions that this may not be his first offense, prompting them to investigate cold cases involving other missing women as they strive to hold him accountable.
As a side story, Coop's Aunt Camille has a friend who is missing an expensive broach that is a family heirloom. She believes it has been stolen. Coop is called in to investigate what happened to the broach and identify the potential thief.
I love Coop! He is a loyal friend, son, and nephew, and he's also known for the quirky sayings on his T-shirts. I admire his relationship with his associate, AB; I keep hoping it will develop into a romantic relationship, but only time will tell. My favorite character, however, remains to be Gus, Coop's loyal Golden Retriever. I am obviously a dog person. The suspenseful plot keeps readers hooked, while Gus, Coop's dog, brings warmth to the story.
Although the twists and turns are intriguing, some aspects of the plot felt slightly predictable, which is why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, it's a fantastic read for mystery lovers who appreciate a blend of suspense, Southern charm, and relatable characters!
I enjoy reading the Coop Harrington books, but this one is more intense than the others. Being a private investigator must have its ups and downs, but this one strikes me as a very difficult case for Coop and his assistant, AB, right from the very beginning.
The main story centers around a young woman who goes missing, with no communication from her abductor as to a ransom for her return. Coop works as a consultant for the county sheriff, with different law enforcement people looking into different areas and ways to track down the person who abducted her. They arrest a man whose vehicle matches the description in videos, and he is not talking. Coop knows in his gut that this will not have a good outcome, and they follow his phone GPS and tracking.. His worst fears are confirmed when they find Alyssa’s body, and it leads him to think this is not the first time this guy has killed. He delves into cold cases of young women who have gone missing in the same way, and discovers many similarities. Only time and good investigations on his part will confirm his own thoughts that they are uncovering a serial killer. Coop will not rest as this now becomes a quest for justice for the families of Alyssa and the additional missing women.
This is one of those books that you don’t want to put down, and if you have to, you can’t wait to get back to it. You can read this book by itself but I recommend you read the series to get some insight into Coop Harrington, his family, his assistant Annabelle(AB) and his faithful sidekick Gus. Tammy Grace really knocked this one out of the park with a suspense filled story that is so real and full of emotions.
It is a great day when the next book in the Cooper Harrington series is available. I have been waiting for this edition since I heard it was in the works.
Cooper (call me Coop) Harrington and his golden retriever, Gus, are pulled into a search for a missing woman. What they find is that this is not a one-time crime. This leads them to a series of possible crimes against women by a single person.
In this book we get to see AB, Coop’s assistant in the private detective agency he runs. Woven between the high-tech hunt for a possible serial killer is the family life of Coop, who lives with his Aunt Camille and his visiting father, Charlie. AB is Coop’s extremely capable assistant but there are hints of a possible romance between the two.
It was fascinating how information on cell phone use and location tracking was used to not only solve the original crime, but to find other possible victims of the killer.
I love this series. I have read all five, now six, books many times. The characters are very competent but also quirky in a southern family way. Nashville is a wonderful backdrop to the action and Tammy does great research. Tammy always includes dogs, usually golden retrievers, in her books. For me a dog is the icing on the cake to a well written story.
I highly recommend this book. If you have not read the Cooper Harrington series, I recommend you begin at Killer Music and read the entire series. Deadly Pursuit is the best so far.
I have really enjoyed this series, and I feel like I actually know these characters. I feel the sense of loss that Coop feels when his dad talks about going home. I feel a warmth for Aunt Camille and her meals and her friendships. I like AB and wish she was a little more involved in the stories and in Coop's life. This case was much darker than the previous ones, and it was hard on Coop - and on me. His determination and drive kept him hard on the trail during this cold case. I didn't like all the details, but they definitely added to the intensity of the emotions everyone was feeling. I love Gus, and I was happy he was so involved in this story and this case. I also liked the distraction brought on by Claire and Luna. The book moved along at a quick pace, and while I didn't want it to end, I couldn't put it down. I wish I could wait for 2 or 3 of these books to come out so I could binge-read them, but it took so long for this 6th book to come out that I couldn't wait to get started! I have already recommended this series to my Mother. I think it would be a great addition to any mystery-lovers library.
I stumbled on the first book, and found the entire cast of characters so welcoming I’ve read through the first six books!
It’s nice to enjoy some comfortable routines the characters engage in, but they all are endearing and entertaining. Each story, although totally standalone, builds upon the previous, and it’s fun to watch everyone grow!
The story pace is perfect and for the most part positive. A few challenging situations that are handled with care and grace. It’s fun reading with no gratuitous scenes or violence and I enjoy the language isn’t graphic or offensive.
In short, a great series I highly recommend!
Oh and Gus seals the deal for me!
Very enjoyable and entertaining! Can’t wait for book 7
You need a sequel that tells of Cooper and ab! Do they get together? How? When? Wnere? These books were amazing!! Beautifully written with a dedication. How no one got fat eating is a mystery! I loved Gus! I would agree he was part human. And Aunt camile and charlie.. It was a pleasure to read about these characters! Wish I could crawl between the pages and meet them. These books had everything.. Murdering slimey, sneaky slime balls with not a trace of regret in the. Cooper's sense of connection on solving crimes and ab's steady devotion to coop was always there. I loved the whole series.. Please consider a sequel following coop and an maybe even between a certain aunt and dad
I have read all the books in this series. I enjoy all the characters. Plus there is a Golden named Gus. Cooper Harrington is PI and in this book he is asked to look for a missing young woman. Cooper likes to be called Coop. A suspect is found but there is no evidence to link him to the missing gal. With Coop deligient research his detective friend and Coop find a body which turns out to be the missing girl. Coop does more research and believes there are other missing gals. As a sub story Coop helps his aunt’s friend find her missing brooch. This book is very enjoyable and easy reading. The character are all very likable. I can’t wait for the next book!
Thank you to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own. This is a realistic mystery and not all cases end up with happy endings. But Coop’s doggedness in looking into cold cases that might be related brings closure to many. In his personal life, his dad is going back to Nevada, but will he return to Tennessee permanently in the future? AB continues to be an invaluable asset to Coop, but might there be more to that in the future, too? Although these books all have a conclusion, I highly recommend reading them in order as the characters develop.
I love all the Cooper Harrington mysteries; the characters are wonderful and it's like meeting up with old and dear friends. In this last book, Coop finds himself and Gus, his wonderful golden, on the trail of a serial killer. Because of his persistence and care for the families involved in these cases, many covering a number of years and states, he finds himself traveling and meeting new friends who help. But Coop due to that care and persistence is the main force in solving the mystery!!
I would highly recommend the Cooper Harrington Detective Novels to anyone who enjoys reading mysteries. In this sixth book of the series, you can't help but admire the tenacity and selflessness of the main character, Coop Harrington, for being an advocate of victims and their families. It is hard to put this book down, and you'll lose time reading for hours on end to finish it. Tammy Grace is truly a gifted writer.
This was definitely a page turner. I love how Coops skill to delve into cold cases wholeheartedly brings a ruthless serial killer to justice. I loved the fact that this particular one was set in my neighborhood. I literally could not put this one down and read it in one night. If you love really well written, detailed mysteries this is the series for you.
I was delighted to be an early reader for this latest addition to the Cooper Harrington Detective Novels. Coop is one of my favorite fictional detectives. He’s smart, funny, dedicated, and just does not give up when he and his trusted partner AB are working to solve a case. The author combines a wonderful cast of characters with plots that twist and turn right up to the end.
I love this series, but this was was exceptional. A truly evil villain and multiple cold cases. Of course Coop is great and his Golden Gus is a sweetheart but I love the other regulars too. AB, his right hand gal and best friend, Camille, his aunt, Charlie, his dad, Ben his buddy. I look forward to many, many more cases with this crew!
Breaks my heart this is the last of this series currently published. There seems to be so many more stories than can be told. This is a fun series and the characters really add to the plot and keep the saga flowing and interesting. The books just flow and end before you know it, so easy to read in once sitting. I will be looking for more to be published in this series.
Im not very good at reviews. But I do want say that these books kept me reading until I read all six. Each mystery was different, and Im impressed with detail Ms. Grace puts into the detectives' methods of research for each one. Plus the characters are very well developed and makes you want to eat dinner with them.
Tammy Grace is a great writer. She keeps your attention from the first to the last page. Her characters are funny and very likable. Even in a series of detective novels, Grace brings different stories and never repeats more information between the books than necessary. They are funny books to read.
Deadly Pursuit is like a wonderful reunion where you can reconnect with all your favorite people and Gus, of course! No case is too small or large for Coop to take on. You don’t want to miss this one or the rest of the series!
I have loved all of the C. Harrington Detective Novels. This book is by far my favorite. The subject was very disturbing as it dealt with a serial killer and young women. Coop figures it out. This book also includes his family dynamics and I wish he sees he could have a great future with AB.
Very good mystery novel! It's a heartbreaking subject for the families involved in abductions and murders. However the police investigation is very interesting. This was well written and I recommend this novel.
Another great book with Cooper and AB. I love how Coop interacts with his dad and aunt plus it’s always fun with Gus around. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
This whole series held my interest from book 1 to book 6. I felt I was there with Coop, AB, Ben Aunt Family and everyone else. Thank you for sharing your stories with all of us. Continue your amazing writing skills.
Excellent book. Coop was asked to find a missing woman which led him on a quest to find a serial killer and his burial sites. Th characters have become friends and of course moody can resist Gus, the golden retriever. Enjoyable from start to finish.
I really like all the characters in this book and the previous other books. Coop, AB, Camille Gus the dog, Charlie and Ben!!!!!Can't wait for the next book!! Really wish Coop and AB would get married. I'm invested in this series.
The Cooper Harrington series is a great series, and just keeps getting better and better. I am so anxious to read the next one in the series. I hope she writes fast!!
From the characters to the food, and of course the beloved canine Gus, this series has kept me riveted and wanting more - and maybe a t-shirt "Got a Fowl/Foul Murder? Coop it."
Love the locations. Lived in Knoxville, rural Knox county near Watts Barr,Nashville and Hermitage. Fun to imagine the places I know well. Love all the characters. Don't stop!
