Mail order Tailor

I really enjoyed this story. I loved Ginny’s character. She was so cheerful and so helpful. Josiah had come to town looking for a bride from a mail order service, him and his daughter. I loved his daughter Maddie. She was a special little girl. Josiah wants a wife and a mother for Maddie. Will things work out for him? Read and see.

I received an advanced copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.

Mail-Order Tailor is another heartwarming addition to the multi-author Honorable Husbands novella series. It was a lovely trip back to the 1870s to revisit the welcoming small town of Deepwater, Missouri, where many have found hope and healing. Josiah, an emotionally wounded hero in need of a fresh start and a mother for his precious daughter, and Ginny, a sweet, caring heroine who has a quiet longing for a romantic relationship leading to marriage, captured my interest from the beginning and spurred my desire to keep reading to the end. Six-year-old Maddie stole my heart. Thanks to Ms. Lamb's excellent storytelling skills and expressive writing style, I could feel Josiah's struggles to come to grips with his past and his growing feelings for Ginny. I totally enjoyed their heartfelt emotional journey. I highly recommend this touching, entertaining read. Note: Even though there are recurring characters, each book in the series can easily be read as a standalone.
I read an advanced copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Set in Deep Water, Missouri, in the 1870’s, this short read is well written and entertaining. Josiah Adams and his six year old daughter arrive by coach in this Mayberry-type town to meet his bride. When the bride is non existent, the tailor works to establish his business while he continues to wait for the no show bride. Sweet reminders abound of a time when letters were handwritten, the mail (and brides) were delivered by ponies, and a ringing church bell could signal help was needed. The cleverly contrived plot to get Josiah the Happily Ever After he really wanted was fun to watch unfold. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily submitting this review.

This book starts with a mystery, what has happened to Josiah’s intended bride? Needing work, Ginny agrees to take care of Josiah’s daughter, stepping aside when his intended shows up. We know that is going to just make things complicated, but the author takes it even further. She gives us romance, mystery and a few surprises. This was a fun book to read.

IT WAS A MAIL-ORDER MIX-UP

The story is part of the Honorable/Healing/Hopeful Husbands, a multi-author series. Each story is a stand-alone and can be read in any order. These are clean, Western historical tales in which mitigating circumstances result in couples seeking a mail-order spouse.

Josiah Adams, along with his six-year-old daughter, Maddie, has uprooted their lives and business and is moving to Deepwater, Missouri, where a mail-order bride is waiting for him. Josiah isn’t looking for love; he was burned by Celina, but Maddie needs a mother to help guide her, and he needs help so he can run his tailoring business. At least the folks of Deepwater are excited about having a tailor, and he bought the print shop on faith.

Ginny Waters is still single at nearly twenty-five years of age. Her younger sister makes fun of her, and yet, there has been no beau to even court. She has resolved herself to believe she will remain a spinster and needs employment for her future. What she doesn’t know is that the answer has just rolled into Deepwater on the stagecoach.

“It was always yet. No beau, yet. No job, yet. No escape from the constant teasing of her younger sister, yet.”

The story takes place in Deepwater, Missouri, in the 1870s. Josiah and his daughter, Maddie, have moved there, with the understanding of a mail-order bride waiting. When there isn’t one, he needs help with Maddie so he can begin his business. He meets Ginny when Maddie goes into a panic looking for her papa, and finds Ginny comforting Maddie. It is decided that she would be excellent to help him with Maddie until his mail-order bride shows up. Yet, weeks go by, and the letter from the matrimonial agency is vague as to the missing bride.

Josiah: I’m so grateful for you, Ginny. I wouldn’t know what to do without you.
Ginny: I’m yours, for as long as you want me.
Josiah: There is—no one waiting for you?
Ginny: No.

Another great story in the series, with a touch of mystery about the missing bride. Josiah isn’t looking for love; he wants a marriage of convenience because he refuses to give his heart again, after Celina did him and Maddie wrong. Ginny is a breath of fresh air; she has a kind heart, and Maddie loves her. But, there is a mystery mail-order bride on her way, and he has committed to a marriage. Will answers come and open the door for Ginny, Josiah, Maddie, and the future?

I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book. This is a sweet clean historical mail-order husband romance book and part of the Honorable Husbands series. The main characters are Josiah and Ginny. Josiah signed up to be a mail-order husband in hopes for a marriage of convenience for a mother for his daughter Maddie. Ginny thinks she will never find love so she sets out to get a job. When the woman Josiah is supposed to be married isn’t there when him and his daughter arrive in town what will he do? He offers Ginny the job of caregiver Maddie. Will she accept the job? Will she find love with Josiah along the way? Will Josiah open his heart to be possibility of love again after he was hurt in the past? Will Maddie get the mom she has always wanted? I loved Josiah. He is an amazing father to Maddie. Ginny was so sweet and was amazing to Maddie and Josiah. I loved the side characters in this book. Every book I have read by this author has been amazing. Overall, I loved this book. If you love historical mail-order romance books with a single dad and found family then you will love this book.

Mail-Order Tailor is a turn about instead of a story of a bride it is a story of a groom.  Josiah sent in a request for a mail-order bride for a marriage of convenience.  His wife left him when his daughter was a week old.  Now she is older and he can’t watch after her and keep his work going.  So if he gets a wife her job would consist of caring for Maddie and the chores of the home.  No love as a wife.  He was notified by the agency that a mail-order bride had went to Deepwater to meet her groom and he refused her.  So a few days later the postmaster asked her to marry him.  Since she has now married, when Josiah and Maddie arrive to marry the rejected bride, there is no woman to meet them.  And his letter telling him of his bride was damaged so he did not know who she was.  He hired a young woman  to care for Maddie until his bride shows up.  As weeks pass he starts growing fond of Ginny but he can’t act on his feelings due to keeping his word to wait on the woman being sent.  But Maddie is getting tired of waiting on a new mother.  What will be his next move?

Welcome back to Deepwater. This book is interconnected with other books by Sarah through the small town of Deepwater and it's town. Its also part of a multi author interconnected series through the mail order agency.
When his wife abandoned him and their newborn 6 years ago he was shattered. Now he's trying to get past it and move on. All he wants is a mother for his daughter and help at home. The agency is sending him to a town where there's a bride with no groom, and no name. Who's his intended? Will they be a match?
She's lived there most of her life. Getting married is a dream that she's worried won't happen. The new tailor has caught her attention but he's promised to someone else. How is she supposed to keep her heart in tact while filling in until his bride is found?

This is my first mail-order groom book. Read from the perspective of a man answering a letter from a woman seeking a husband was fun until she proved to be very elusive.

Josiah, our mail-order groom with a young daughter, was unable to find his bride. With all the insecurities that came with a missing bride combined with some insecurities from his past made taking a chance at love difficult. He had to learn to trust God and himself before could he even consider giving his heart away.

Sarah showed us that you can be a successful male-order groom, find a wife, and build a family. It was such a sweet book, Sarah. I really enjoyed it!

Another wonderful, well written book for the Hopeful Husbands series, Josiah is a real gem! These stories of single men trying to raise a child, a daughter, especially, without a mama for his child, are so inspiring, sweet, and interesting! My favorite genre is Mail Order “spouses”, I suppose I should call it! Ms. Lamb is an awesome author and I enjoy reading every book of hers that I HAVE read! I did receive an early copy of this book without a request for a good review required from this author. This review is my own. Don’t let this book slip through your fingers!! 💙💘💖

I thoroughly enjoyed my time 1870’s Deepwater, Missouri with Josiah, Maddie, and Ginny. A story of learning to love again, learning to be patient while waiting for love to grow; and a town peopled by caring people who care about their fellow townspeople. I am glad I took the time to read this story. Happy Reading ! !

It’s fun reading a book where the men are mail-ordered grooms. The characters of Ginny and Josiah are great but Maddie held my heart. My heartstrings were pulled with this sweet story of a need for love and family. It is an entertaining read from beginning to end. A clean story where the focus isn't on the physical but the matters of the heart. I loved this story!

Did he make a mistake moving? Can he trust women? Can he find someone to love him? Or just someone to watch his daughter?

Not without it’s share of challenges and obstacles, the climax far outweighs any and all! Meet Josiah, the new-to-town tailor, his precocious daughter, Maddie, and the town spinster, Ginny. It would seem to be a given they were meant for each other but someone else has his eye on Ginny. Who will win her heart? A sweet, entertaining read!

Interesting story, Mail Order Tailor was to read. Josiah arrives in Deepwater, with his daughter Maddie to meet his intended bride. The only problem is that he doesn't know who she is and worse, she isn't there. Now what can he do. He has a daughter to raise and a business to set up. He employs Ginny to be his caretaker, until the woman shows up. Time moves on, frustration sets in and and Josiah doesn't know what to do. Couples seem to find the right people in Deepwater, can it happen again.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review.
