Alicia Stone was a formidable criminal defense attorney until her husband’s death left her cynical about love and insecure in her job. Despite her lack of confidence, Alicia agrees to represent accused murderer and R&B legend Jerri Devine, in a case certain to garner national media attention, thrusting her into the spotlight. David King, starting fresh in Westchester County after a messy breakup with his fiancée, is the Chief Prosecutor in Jerri’s case. He needs a conviction to cement his new role as Assistant District Attorney. The last thing on his mind is a new romance. Yet, when these two opposing attorneys clash over the Devine murder case, they’re inexplicably drawn to one another. David cannot deny his attraction to Alicia, and she can’t ignore her feelings either. While sifting through the lies and deception of Jerri’s inner circle to uncover a killer, Alicia rekindles her passion for the defense while falling victim to David’s charms. Surrendering to love’s magnetic pull, David and Alicia blur ethical boundaries to be together … a move that may jeopardize their careers as they each seek their own brand of justice for Jerri Devine.
Opposing lawyers team up to find the real killer and find romance of their own. While there is the start of a romance, the real grit of this book is in the twists and turns of the murder case. Did the singer charged with her husband's murder really kill him? There are at least three, maybe four, alternatives to the wife as murderer.
Excellent character development and the suspense carries to the end.
A quick, but satisfying read.

The Devine Case is a spellbinding romantic legal thriller that brings in all of the elements of a whodunit murder trial. But what makes it even more intriguing is that the two opposing lead attorneys on the case find themselves falling for each other, with all the constraints and conflicts that that entails. Author White has created a compelling murder mystery, intermingled with romance, where rivalry and attraction clash. A riveting page-turner I didn’t want to put down.
