At this point it's fk Lewie!! If he wants to be with the greedy gold diggers then let him have them. Every time he hears that Mariah Carey song "Someday" his soul is gonna hurt. He gonna figure out Emmy was his one and it's going to be too late. I wish Tangela boss all the way up on Von because he never deserved her. I love the bond between Emmy and Tangela and I can't wait to see them both shine bright. It's something about Mecha I don't trust but I hope she ain't on no funny shyt.♥️♥️

Emmy is such a sweetheart and all she needed was this come up but damn did the husband have to be him the man of her fantasies. Lewie is a lame wanna act like he likes my girl but playing games with her. I’m glad she never slept with him because I believe he would have taken her virginity and left her high and dry but watch him lose everything and see if them model hoes still be in his corner and then he going to he looking for Em with a flashlight. Tan need to leave Von ass alone she need to stop sleeping on herself and go back to school and make something of herself and stop depending on a man that’s why he keep walking all over her. I’m ready to see what happens in the next book.

I. Could. Not. Put. This. Down. Emmy’s story? Raw, emotional, and real. From Hamilton Courts to college grind to that wild surrogate proposal — baby, the drama was premium cut!
Emmy had every reason to fold but chose to stand ten toes down through heartbreak, fake friends, a wild mama, and a second chance with fame knocking on her door. And Lewie? No ma’am. He fumbled and fumbled hard. Every time she thought of him, I wanted to snatch the phone and block him myself.
Tangela is that girl — ride or die, always speaking truth. The kind of best friend that’ll hype you up and hand you a flashlight when you can’t see your own worth.
This book had me side-eying characters, clapping out loud at scenes, and fully invested like I was part of the friend group. Tiece did what needed to be DONE. The hood, the heartbreak, the hustle? On point. And Emmy better get the ending she deserves because I will ride at dawn if she don’t.

This was a pretty good read... It pulled different emotions out of me... I was shocked, angry, disappointed, sad, happy and it also brought some laughs... It read at a nice steady pace... I got a pretty good feel of the main characters... I feel like I know them... So the build up of the characters was good... There was so much disappointment going on and now the build up to this...
Emmy is such a nice smart, talented young lady... She is doing all that she can to achieve her dream of becoming a designer... But her home life with her mother Peaches is tough... She still does all that she can to make her dream come true and take care of the house... But every time it looks like she is finally on the right track... Something or someone snatches it all away from her... She is so lucky to have a friend like Tangela aka Tan... She helps her get through the rough times... and trust me there are many of those... She also has a guy friend named Lewie... He happens to be rich and will be going places soon... But for now as punishment his parents made him get a job and he is workingwith Emmy... Him and Emmy became friends and have been for a long time... Yet she has had feelings for him that she just does not want to let him know about because she does not want to lose the friendship... Also she does not think he sees her that way so why even waste the time... Plus he is out here dating women and about to leave for college so why even put it out there...
Tangela is living her life and is dealing with a man named Von... They have a rough relationship... He is out there doing him then buys her things and says the right thing to have her forgive him... Every time it is the same ol rollercoaster... Just when Tangela thought all was finally good... Now this... She is so over it... But now she is realizing how much she has been depending on him... Now it is time for her to start making some moves... But how...
Emmy is getting hit left and right by everyone doing her wrong... she is ready to give up... But then decided that is not who she is... Well one day she is offered a deal of a lifetime... but the decision she has to make will be life changing... Will it all be worh it or should she turn it down and get what she wants another way...
Peaches is a piece of work... She is hooked on pulls and just gave up on life... She is so bad that her daughter has to keep it all together for her... I get that she had something bad happen a while ago but she has a daughter that needs her still... Then for her to do Emmy the way she has... Well she may have crossed the last line with her...
Overall, this is a good read... It has all come down to this and this big decision... The betrayal of her friend Lweie really pushed her over to make her decision... and just when she thought ok all is looking good and she is on her way... She crosses paths with HIM... how will this work out... Who will get hurt in the end? How is Tan going to finally get out of her situation... What will happen with Lewie and Emmy's friendships after what he did... well onto part to 2 to see how it will all work out...

It’s a really slow romance. That’s if you want to consider this book a romance because it mainly felt like a prologue since we only focused on the fmc’s life and what leads her to ultimately agreeing to be a surrogate. She doesn’t fully become a surrogate until the very end. 40% of the book is before the 4 year time skip so she hasn't even met the mmc yet. Then the other 60% of the book she has a brief run in with him once but she doesn't truly meet and exchange names with him until the ending. Literally the last chapter. No romance happens between the two.
That being said I did enjoy reading it. It had its funny moments and had moments where it annoyed me but in a “ugh people real life do this shit” type of way. Honestly it could’ve been 5 stars had the description been a bit more accurate. It’s technically not misleading but for 40% of the book to be her past and for them to not meet until the end I was a little thrown off.

Really the only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was Mischa sitting there and setting the whole surrogate thing up without including her husband. Using someone’s sperm without tell them is weird if you ask me. But it’s obvious the marriage can’t be too good or we wouldn’t have these books
Oh Emmy pisses me off by not going to the police ever. She just letting motherfuckers rob her blind and she’s moving on with life continuing to struggle. Peach deserved that aas whooping and I can understand not going to the police then. But Krissy bitch ass would’ve got some repercussions. No way Emmy should’ve just moved on from that.

Well, where do I start? This book had me from beginning to end. Emmy had a hard life, but overcame everything that was put in her way from the unwanted love that she never had from an addicted mother to the love she have from her grandmother to the confusing love she has for best friend. I’m just waiting to see what life holds for Emmy and will something sparked between her and Orion and how many babies did she produce like did she go all the way or do you know what’s the tongue twister like? I’m intrigued I need to know what’s going on with Emmy. Second the best friend Tan like is she officially over that no good man of hers. I really hope she takes a step in with Emmy and maybe they move in together and maybe that will give Tan the push she needs to maybe better her life. and Take the lady up on the offer and become a lawyer who knows tongue twister flip the script. Just curious to see where these two will end up so putting it out there in the universe maybe we’ll get another book. Hell maybe a book for each baby who knows but this is definitely a GOOD READ!!!

This was my 1st read by this author!!!…I enjoyed this book and was on this roller coaster ride anxiously waiting to see what was going to happen to Emmy!!!…I almost cried with her because she kept struggling with set backs!!!…
The one thing I truly loved about this book was the realness of the friendship with Emmy and Tangela!!!…
I was happy that Emmy’s mom decided it was time to mend the relationship with her daughter because the pain and deceit was real!!!…
I can’t wait to see what is next, because clearly the reaction btwn O and Emmy is real!!!…
My heart is pumping for Tangela, I truly hope she find it in her to get away from Von!!!…
I hope Emmy comes out on top because she is trying to keep her head above water and getting her love for designing off the ground!!!!…

Man, if “can’t catch a break” was a person, it would be Emmy. It seemed like if it wasn’t one thing, it was another for her.
I wish the fact that this is a slow burn would’ve been made clear. Not that it would’ve stopped me from reading, but as the story continued to unfold. I kept wondering at what point is the MMC going to be introduced. Orlan and Emmy only have two brief, very brief encounters in this book.
But it does feel like a solid foundation has been laid, I’m hoping the pace picks up in book 2. With that ending, I’m curious to see what’s next. So far, I’m leery of Mischa. Ready for Tan to get a backbone and for Lewie to feel some karma after playing with my girl Em.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I kept seeing this and the follow up books all over KU, so I figured it was time for me to check it out. This was messy, I love a lil mess and the foundation was laid for future mess. I have a ton of questions that will hopefully be answered later. Can we trust Mischa? Is Peach sober fr? Will that find the sister? And will Krissy get her ass handed to her? I’ll definitely be reading the rest just to see. My only issues were the pacing, it’s not a long book but I wish there were more descriptive factors along the way. I also felt like the last quarter was rushed thru, suddenly we were in a new place. Otherwise, nothing too bad, I’m entertained at the least lol

My sister recommended this book to me she loved this series. First, I don't like when books don't have individual chapters, so you can go back to a chapter and listen to it over again if you choose to. As far as the characters, the good friends Emmy, Tan, and Lewie. Emmy, she's holding on to her V. Card. She's talented, kind, and along with her best friend. They're doing the best they can. This is my first time reading this author. I'm trying to get into it so far it's okay. I like the characters. I'm starting to realize this is going to take a turn, I didn't expect 😯 🙂.
My sister recommended this book to me she loved this series. First, I don't like when books don't have individual chapters, so you can go back to a chapter and listen to it over again if you choose to. As far as the characters, the good friends Emmy, Tan, and Lewie. Emmy, she's holding on to her V. Card. She's talented, kind, and along with her best friend. They're doing the best they can. Love this book and glad that mischa was able to find a surrogate to complete her family. Emmy is lucky to have a friend like tan to be by her side and help her through all her obstacles I am sorry things between em and lewie didn't work out. Thank goodness peach decided to get the help she needed and repay Emmy back the money she stole. I am riding to read part 2 to find out what is going to happen between Emmy and orlan, and misha. Would they be able to keep everything professional or would lines be crossed.

I picked this up because one of my reading groups was raving about it. I skipped most of what they said because I don't like spoilers, but they weren't wrong. Emmy is a girl after my heart. She's a good girl who is doing her best to become great in life, but life keeps throwing her curveball. This book has a childhood, unrequited love trope, and I'm living for this!

Very good good read the book kept my attention had one grammar error but it's ok, the book was enjoyable Peach know she's wrong for stealing from Emmy her own child but definitely glad Peach was accountable for her own mistakes and het and Em can move on,Lewie and Von are the biggest dogs and Tan can't just leave Von alone. Book 2 I know is gonna be good Piece you know you can write a good series💣💥📚💕✨🔥

Really good story! Emmy is such a sweet girl that was dealt a band hand but I think things will start looking up for her. “O” being the same mystery guy she met outside of her job is CRAZY. Lord Em, keep them thighs closed Tight and just wait for Lewis after you have that baby bc I smell drama if you end up dealing with that woman’s husband! We need part 2 ASAP! 10/10

First I love the fact that Emmy stood on what she meant regarding her staying a virgin. Now I don't know what to expect from this situation here Chile something tells me they aren't the happiest married couple. This book was an excellent read. I enjoyed it immensely. It contained excellent content. The storyline contained drama and excitement and deceitful characters. I most definitely would recommend this book for you to read. I can’t wait until part 2 comes out.

Really??!!!!
I loved the book! The characters are relatable for i believe, all of America. I think that addiction, tragedy, poverty and all the symptoms thereof, have touched everyone on some level. I am mad at the ending as a reader, but great move as an author. What they do they say in show business? “Always keep them wanting more”.. great job at doing that!

How we go thru all of that just to get left with a cliffhanger I’m mad af lol. The entire book just felt like it was taking a long time and did get to the main part till towards the end . Highly annoyed and have to wait till next year smh ..

It seems like it took forever to get to Em becoming a surrogate. I thought she was going to end up being with Lewie at first. I really wish Tan would be getting money from Von and stacking it and also going to hair school. I wish she would leave him alone.
