Kringle Family Christmas #2

Very Merry Married

Rate this book
Ethan

I’ve got my hands full.

Running for mayor of my home town in Colorado. Trying to save the family business—and doing my best to survive Christmas without murdering my brother. Nowhere on this list is room for Lexie to show up a year after our epic one-night stand.

Vegas show girl, owner of the meanest dog I’ve ever met, and the star of every fantasy I’ve had since I came home. And apparently… my wife? And she wants me to sign divorce papers.

Hell no.

Lexie

I do not get drunk married. That’s what tourists do in Vegas, not locals. But even I am susceptible to gorgeous eyes and an excellent jaw line.

I was so sure Ethan was different from the jerks I usually fall for, until I woke up married without a groom or a way to get a hold of him. A year later, I finally see him splashed all over the internet—fighting with his brother at a Colorado airport.

So, what’s a showgirl to do? Put on my best heels, put my dog in a hand bag and go find my husband so I can end my sham marriage. But as soon as I arrive in Salt Springs, that plan goes out the window.

Ethan hasn’t forgotten me and the chemistry between us is real and explosive.

Now that I’ve found him he doesn’t want to let me go.

Was our wedding a Vegas mistake? Or a Christmas miracle?

Molly O'Keefe has always known she wanted to be a writer (except when she wanted to be a florist or a chef and the brief period of time when she considered being a cowgirl). And once she got her hands on some romances, she knew exactly what she wanted to write.

She published her first Harlequin romance at age 25 and hasn't looked back. She loves exploring every character's road towards happily ever after.

Originally from a small town outside of Chicago, she went to university in St. Louis where she met and fell in love with the editor of her school newspaper. They followed each other around the world for several years and finally got married and settled down in Toronto, Ontario. They welcomed their son into their family in 2006, and their daughter in 2008. When she's not at the park or cleaning up the toy room, Molly is working hard on her next novel, trying to exercise, stalking Tina Fey on the internet and dreaming of the day she can finish a cup of coffee without interruption.

4 The Showgirl Saves Christmas Stars ⭐

When they say what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas, I don’t think it means being drunk on tequila, getting married and then ghosting your wife the morning after. However, things might have been different if Ethan Kringle could recall any of it.

“I wish I remembered fucking you,” I said quietly.
“I’m sure you do.”
“It was good, wasn’t it?”

Armed with divorce papers, Vegas showgirl Lexie is headed to Salt Springs with a plan. Except when she stumbles into this Christmas Wonderland, she’s reluctant to leave. Before she knows it, she’s hired at the Kringle Inn and falling in lust again with man she married.

Ethan is all sensibility and order. And the flashbacks of the gorgeous woman he left naked in bed has haunted him the past year. And now that she’s here in his hometown, a divorce is the furthest thing from their mind. How do you resist a woman that brings out the best in you?

“What if I said I loved you?”

“I wouldn’t believe you,” I told him emphatically.

“What if I told you that you were all I needed to be happy?”

“I’d tell you to fuck off.”

He smiled at me and leaned down for a kiss. “Then I’ll keep it to myself a little bit longer.”

I initially had my reservations about the storyline but as Ethan and Lexie gave into the temptation, Very Merry Married was a great addition. Sweet, steamy, Xmasy!

VERY MERRY MARRIED is book two in the Kringle Family Christmas series and I liked this book even better than the first. Ethan, the brother who is running for mayor, accidentally married Lexie, a Vegas showgirl while they were both drunk last year, and this year, Lexie shows up in his hometown in Colorado to get him to sign the divorce papers. The trouble is, he needs help running the front desk and she’s good at it so he convinces her to stay for a bit and they wind up falling for each other. This was cute and the perfect length for a Christmas romance. 5/5 stars.

I've read multiple stories where the plot was based on a Vegas marriage (I mean when two people get drunk and marry a complete stranger in Vegas), but this one definitely takes the cake, in the best way possible. It was entertaining and sexy at the same time, a story starring a Vegas showgirl and a mayor candidate from a small town in Colorado, whose family owns a B&B that's all about Christmas.

Lexie, the heroine, reminded me in the beginning of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. Which was definitely not a bad thing, it just made me smile and curious about what will come... She was authentic and unapologetically her own person in all the best ways. And as the story progressed I've come to realize that she's actually really capable, smart, and exceedingly likeable, she was funny yet oh so vulnerable. Ethan, the hero, is a man with a lot on his plate. But even being complete opposites on paper, they did find their other half in each other and it was all kinds of magical from start to finish.
“I’m beginning to think that if love makes sense you might be doing it wrong.”

Yeah, Christmas romances are usually festive, goofy and sweet. But this was so much more! It was meaningful and heartwarming, and it ticks all the boxes of a good holiday romance for me.

Of course I had to pick up the second book…
It’s based around the same time as the first book, starting a little before and ending a little after that book's events.

I liked how this expanded on the timeline we had previously seen but from an entirely different perspective.

I felt the relationship between Lexie and Ethan was conveyed better. I mean, they loved each other before they even knew each other but for me, I could see them as a couple more than Kristen and Paul.

I really loved Lexie as a character. She was complicated and interesting, not to mention confident and friendly.

I also loved seeing more of the Kringle family dynamic.
This story was definitely trying to create interest for Matt…

I didn’t like the forced complication. I saw it coming from a mile away and was really hoping O'Keefe didn’t do it but they did.

Anyway, of course I can’t not read the last book…

That was super cute and fun.

Cast of characters:
Ethan Kringle: straight-laced lawyer running for mayor of Salt Springs, CO.
Lexie Platzski: fun-loving, vixen Vegas showgirl.
Baby girl: Lexie's mean, but cute high maintenance tiny dog that hates Ethan.

Lexie and Ethan meet in Vegas, have an amazing evening, a one night stand and get married. Ethan barely remembers any of it and a year later Lexie finally finds him and shows up demanding a divorce. Ethan who never forgot about her (besides the fact he married her) and has been hoping for a phone call for the past year won't let Lexie go that easily and thus ensues some festive woo-ing.

This was just light hearted and fun and Lexie was a unique character you don't really read about too often for a romance heroine. She's bold and brash, but also vulnerable and insecure at times. She's a bombshell (and she knows it) and not afraid to look and dress exactly how she wants no matter what people might think of her. She reminded me a lot of Cher Rivers from Hold On by Kristen Ashley (a book I loved and highly recommend👍🏻). I love the rambunctious heroine that shakes up the rule-following, straight-laced hero's life and Ethan was honestly loving every minute of it. If you're in the mood for an easy Christmas novella read maybe check this one out 🎄✨🎅🏻

The second book in this series, the story of Ethan Kringle, the one who stayed in Salt Springs, Colorado, a Mayor candidate and the most eligible bachelor in town.
Some scenes already known from the previous book, now told from a different perspective.

One Christmas ago he was in Las Vegas closing a deal with a company that would bring his town more jobs and prosperity.
He met Lexie, a showgirl, got married, had a one night stand and left the day after, leaving her a note with is name and phone number that mysteriously disappeared.
One year after when Lexie sees the You Tube video of the airport fight between the Kringle brothers, she recognises him and shows up in Salt Springs with the divorce papers for him to sign.

He's so surprised to see her, and even that they got married.
He drank so much tequila he doesn't remember anything, except her name, their activities between the sheets and that her lap dog Baby Girl bit him!
He offers her a paying job maneging the front desk of the inn for three weeks, which she does amazingly well and a chance for both to know themselves.
She could live in his house in town, different room, and tell him all he can't remember of that Las Vegas night, because he wouldn't do such an out of character thing if he hadn't seen something in her that touched his heart!
She accepts.
Everybody likes her, including his sister Kristen and his Brother Matt.
Matt being there, helped bring lots of hockey fans and tourists to the town.
The inn and cabins are full as Kristen expected!

Lexie creates a pageant with the children residing in the inn as an actual l Christmas activity.
She's happy! He's happy!
Both of them seem to have strong feelings, chemistry, and steamy attraction, growing with each kiss, each touch!
She likes this Christmas town, so different from the desert she's used to, but attracts lots of jelousy from the women in town when she tells them she's actually married to Ethan and it's confirmed by him.
And when accidently the video she had shot of the night they married is revealed and Ethan tells her she should have deleted it and that he's going to fix her, her heart is broken in a million pieces!
She leaves Salt Springs and returns home.

He tells the town folks that the man in the video was him, but when he can't find Lexie he sees the huge mistake he's done and remembers something her mother once told him about not marrying a woman who fits in his life but one who is his life and he goes after her.
He will do everything to get Lexie to forgive him and get back together with the love of his life, even being bitten again by her lap dog that hates him fiercely!!

Based on every Hallmark Christmas movie ever…

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: 🙂🥰😎😄😋

The Hero: Ethan Kringle - he was the fixer of his family, which means he always was needed for something. He was also the president of the city council for Salt Springs, Colorado. His father owns the Kringle Inn and Christmas tree farm. His brother is known as Matt “The Mountain” Kringle and is a famous professional hockey player, and his sister Kristen is a successful businessperson in New York. Last year around Christmas, Ethan made a trip to Las Vegas to talk a green energy company into building a factory in town to bring jobs and industry to the area. While there, he had a drunken one-night stand with a beautiful woman and left her sleeping to catch his morning flight. He couldn’t forget her though.

The heroine: Lexie Platzski - she was a Vegas showgirl at Caesars Palace. She supported both herself and her mother who basically is a professional mistress. Though she recently sprained her ankle on a hike and has been out on sick leave for two weeks. She has one more week left and if her ankle doesn’t heal soon, her job may be in jeopardy. Her friend shows her an internet video of a man that looks like all the pictures she has on her phone of the night she married a stranger, and sure enough, Ethan Kringle is her Ethan. So, she heads to Salt Springs to get him to sign some divorce papers.

The Story: Lexie remembers the entire night; she can’t forget it in fact. Since it was about the best night of her life. But waking up alone the next morning was a huge letdown, and when she checked the marriage license, Kringle looked more like Krumble and she couldn’t find Ethan Krumble anywhere. Ethan is happily surprised to see Lexie when she shows up at the Kringle Inn while he is helping out at the front desk. He thinks she is his Christmas Miracle when she takes charge and helps him out with the crowd of guests who were getting pretty antsy.

“You guys really like Christmas, don’t you?” I asked, taking in the room’s decorations. “Or do you guys film those Hallmark Christmas movies here? Because you totally could. It’s like Christmas threw up all over this place.”

“It was just chemistry,” I whispered.
“Let’s find out,” he whispered back. “Three weeks. You could think of it as a vacation.”
“Vacation to the Arctic Circle. That’s not a thing.”
“Our tourism numbers would indicate that it is a thing.”

I hadn’t read the first book in this series, though I after reading the blurbs, I think you can pretty much read them in any order since they all take place during the same time period and are about the three Kringle siblings. So, I went into this one based on the Blurb. I expected the married a stranger in Vegas trope which I really love and got that plus a Hallmark Christmas movie plot but with the added benefit of hot sexy times and a bunch of cursing (I really like the fact that Matt can barely speak without swearing). The inn and the town overdid Christmas to the extreme and the fact that the main characters had to save the inn and tree farm from financial ruin, was like the plot of nearly every Hallmark Christmas move ever. Though there is a reason I like Christmas movies and I liked this book as well.

what says merry christmas better than marrying a guy you just met?

Ethan and Lexie got married a year ago and now she decides they should get a divorce, so she goes to see him but he wants her to give them a chance.
is weeks before Christmas and Ethan need help running his family inn so he asks Lexie's help and slowly they start to fall for each other.

if you're looking for an opposites-attract romance and a little bit of Christmas magic, this is for you.

While the book wasn't all too hot the way I expected (some spanking was promised but not delivered) I still loved their development in such a short story.

Ethan was wonderful but Lexie was such a sassy sweetness, I loved her even more. I loooved how unapologetic she was!! (And how well did she put down Kristen from the first book with her stripper comment.)
I also loved Ethan's attitude with "we've got something good here and should absolutely go for it", it was a breath of fresh air and I ate it up.

O'Keefe did such a fantastic job writing the two POVs!!

Whenever I read Ethan's POV, I could practically FEEL the stress around him, everything happening at the same time and pulling him in every direction; while with Lexie, the whole energy was completely different - the emotions with her mother, the uncertainty of her job, the yearning for something real.

It was an awesome example of excellent writing right there, especially in such a short form.

All in all, it was definitely a winner for me.

Readers won't find a Hallmark moment here. Nope, this story sizzles and pops, is hilariously funny and carries an R-rating. A steamy romantic second chance for two opposites who meet in Vegas, drink too much and get married. One forgot the marriage license and disappeared into the early morning sunrise. The other woke up alone and waited a year before seeking a divorce.

Lots of sloppy minor slip-ups that called for a final edit. Otherwise, quick and easy read – but it sputtered and fizzled out leaving a few dangling questions in a rushed ending.

DNF at 92%.

This was a cute, if shallow, Christmas-themed romance... until some drama and the hero did the worst thing.

There's a scandal due to some stuff these two people did together. However, only her face is associated with it. He tells her "we have to fix this. We have to fix you".

And with 🤬 I am done. Instead of admitting that he was involved too and "there's nothing to see here, guys", he basically tells her she needs to change who she is, hide her light.

He's a coward. What a douche.

There was not enough of a relationship between them that I can believe a grovel in the last 8% of the book. Fuck him. Her dog knew he wasn't trustworthy (nice to put that in there, author).

Add to that, he tried to gaslight a little girl by saying she didn't see what she thought she saw. Ya, he's a winner.

I really liked this one. Lexie turned out to be such a great character and I loved her. I think I loved how she was a showgirl, and there were assumptions, and she was so much more. The way she connected with everyone and even the kids. I felt the woman who treated her like competition was typical and it showed how much class Lexie had. I liked that she got Ethan and his family. He was perfect for her. He messed up a time or two but she deserved a guy like him and the family that she would get being with him.

When Ethan's wife comes to his hometown a year after their drunken wedding, wanting a divorce, it could mean this Christmas will be a Scroogey one for sure. But perhaps the charm of this small town and her husband himself will work their Christmas magic on her, and she'll stick around. Perhaps they'll get to know each other and actually fall in love.

I've been loving the Kringle Family Christmas series. Ethan is a sweetheart, but the real standout here is Lexie. She is definitely a shining Christmas star with her big heart, her warmth, and her grace in handling all the gossipers, the mean girls (and guys), her horrible mother, and even Ethan when he blunders like a big lug and hurts her. This holiday romance is sweet, hot, and making me really impatient for Jasmine and Matt's story now.

Very Merry Married was a delight to read, I loved this got drunk in Vegas, got married in Vegas, didn’t realize it until my wife showed up at the family business to ask for a divorce story. Seriously it was funny, heart-warming and sexy. Ethan is the middle child, the responsible one, a lawyer, the son that stayed in the small town he now serving on the city council and running for mayor, while trying to help save the family business, and manage the town’s festivities so when Lexie, whose name he didn’t remember until she walked through the door shows up he’s thrilled to see her again but it’s just one more thing he has to deal with. Lexie however comes in like a boss, gets everything under control, and then promptly tells him she wants a divorce, only he sees this as a second chance something she is very wary about.

I actually loved the premise of this story and the way Lexie just came in and kind of took over running the inn. The thoughtfulness she had for the job and the way she involved the kids that were hanging around and helped them work on a Christmas pageant. I mean she blew though the doors and became as bada$$ boss the minute she did and I loved it. A Vegas showgirl by trade many people underestimated her, but she proved time and time again she was capable of all things and while she did make a huge error in judgment, she honestly didn’t do anything wrong.

To say Ethan was elated when Lexie came to town was putting it mildly, finding out he was married to her was a bit of a shock but he set out to prove that there was something more between them than the tequila that erased his memory of their one night. I actually felt sorry for Ethan because he knew that if they got married he felt something to make him do that and not having any memories of the night made him feel sad. It was obvious they had insane chemistry and he clearly wanted to sleep with her again, but there was something more in the way he was around her. You could tell that she was like this puzzle he wanted to put together and keep forever.

While this was a busy book because there was so much going on around them, I enjoyed watching them learn more about one another, the time they spent together, and the way Lexie immersed herself in the inn, the town, and Ethan’s family.

Very Merry Married was a joy to read; fun, sweet, sentimental, and sexy and I enjoyed every minute of it.

What a fun and festive read! I’ve read some of Molly O’Keefe’s darrker books and have really enjoyed them, so I was looking forward to digging into something a bit more lighthearted, and I was not disappointed. This novella has fun festive vibes, is a fast-paced read, and has the right balance of heart and heat.

The Kringle Family Christmas series is a multi-author collaboration, but each can be read as a standalone, and I enjoyed it enough to want to check out the other brothers. Our story is a fun accidental marriage trope- only these two don’t discover one another until a bit later, when our heroine Lexie discovers her accidental Vegas husband Ethan thanks to his mayoral campaign. But when she (and her scene stealing dog) visit him at his family run inn in his hometown, she discovers he doesn’t actually remember this vegas showgirl bride. Lexie is just there to get a quickie divorce to solve the problem of her quickie marriage, but she can’t resist the pull of the Kringle Inn, and turns out Ethan isn’t quite ready to call it quits.

Again, this is a fast paced and fun read with some heart. The chemistry is hot, the cast of characters are interesting, the banter is fun, and the setting is just right. We have just enough story to give it some substance and keep the pages turning, but it’s short and sweet and the perfect reprieve to get in the holiday spirit.

This is a cute, short Christmas romance. Now I normally stay away from holiday romances but I read the first Christmas romance because I love the author so I overlooked my normal avoidance of this trope. I enjoyed the set up and characters so much I had to keep going.

Now this is a different kind of trilogy about two brother and a sister where each one is written by a different author. In this case its M. O'keefe. I've read some of her other books and enjoyed them. This one is about the romance between Ethan Kringle, an upstanding citizen in the town who lives life on the straight and narrow. He's on a business trip in Vegas when he bumps into Lexie, a Vegas show girl and his exact opposite. She's fun, she's a hoot and is a free spirit. There is something special between them and they spend the evening together having fun and getting drunk. Ethan wakes up the next morning in her bed with very little memory of the previous night but knew something life changing had happened the night before. But he has a very early flight and can't stay. He leaves her a quick note to call him and heads out leaving her still asleep.

Fast forward a year and we are in Ethan's home town and his family runs an inn and a Christmas tree farm. They are focused on Christmas all year and it's the time of year that is the busiest. But not this year. Bookings are down at the inn and things are tough. One of their solutions is covered in the first book and this book overlaps this one. We switch to Mexico's POV and find out what happened. Seems they got married and her dog chewed up the note so Lexie thinks she's been abandoned by her brand new husband. She tracks him down and though its very close to Christmas, heads to his small town to demand a divorce.

Because of the Kringles solution from the first book, when Lexie arrives at the inn its chaos. Because that's the kind of person she is, Lexie pushes up her sleeves figuratively and steps in to help the family. Ethan recognizes her right away and is delighted to see her. With he can't remember much of that magical night he knows he can't just divorce her and let her leave.

This is such a warm hearted story and I adored it. Lexie and Ethan were both so likeable and the story so charming it warmed me up from the inside. Even though I'm a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas romance, I highly recommend this book. Even if you're like me and this kind of story isn't your forte, the first book, Jingle Bell Beard by Julie Kriss, which should be read first and this book are such treats and should be read.

This is such a fun, smart and rich Christmas story!
It’s set mostly in a small Colorado town where Christmas is EVERYTHING.
(Aside from some Las Vegas scenes that are quite important to the story.)
Ethan is so lovable, he’s a good guy and we get to see him finally start to let loose. And that’s really enjoyable and sexy.
Lexie, a Vegas showgirl has a sparkling personality in every way! I absolutely adored her. She is an absolute doll! The way she interacts with people is truly beautiful and #lifegoals
And she does it with her Vegas showy style. Love this aspect!
I expected Christmas fun and some romance-
I didn’t expect a full and clever story that this book is.
There’s amazing secondary characters, great life lessons and the main characters are awesome and super hot together!
I love this book so much. I love that it gave me such joy and more depth than I expected.
It has tension, steam, romance, drama and family dynamics that ring true.
It’s not over the top, it’s actually a pretty grounded story considering..
~Drunk Vegas wedding
~Kringle Family Inn and Christmas tree farm as the setting
~Seriously Ethan’s dad’s name is actually Chris KRINGLE!!
And I swear despite those things and the impression that might give,it’s really not over the top or silly.
I highly recommend this as a great holiday read,it made me smile and feel like Christmas and romance are really magical!

Considering I had zero interest in reading Ethan’s story, this book managed to surprise me. We didn't get to see much of Ethan in the last book, and he was a bit stuck up when we did, but he truly was a nice guy. A year ago he had an amazing night in Vegas, even if the details went fuzzy after tequila. So when Lexie shows up asking for a divorce when he didn't know they were married, he's not going to let the moment pass.
There were some very sweet moments in this book, and I liked how the author tried to crash some social barriers while she was at it. It wasn't smashed in your face but made a point to fight against some stereotypes of women dancers. It's all very natural, the drama doesn't seem forced or just put on the page purely for tension's sake.

I did like this one better than the first book. However, it needs some editing. It would switch to Lexie in Ethan’s chapters and vice versa. There was stuff added completely out of left field just to be woke. I did notice all three books in the series are by different authors. I could definitely tell and so I’m excited about Matt and Jasmine’s story. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes.
