Lottie continues her journey in the second part of the Spine of Worlds saga. This is a long one, so if you like value for money, look in the direction of this book 🙂

And she has grown up. She is adjusting to her new life and the way it affects the relationships she cherishes. Plus, the pressure of suddenly being responsible for an entire people.

Danby has skilfully adapted the prose to match Lottie’s character. Where the first book felt more vernacular (as a teenager would speak, since it’s first-person) this one is a bit more formal, a bit more regal.

Tension is built expertly until the brilliant crescendo and am already looking forward to the next one. No spoilers, but holy crap 🙈

Reminded me of Charmaine Harris and LJ Smith. If you like True Blood (Southern Vampire Mysteries) or Vampire Diaries, this is for you.

I enjoyed book 1 a lot but this one upped the tempo a lot. Lottie is home but it isn’t easy she has to balance life with her duty as the future queen. Add in dealing with her best friend hating her and anger at her mum you wouldn’t blame her if she just hid away. Lottie doesn’t do that she has to find reinforcements and travels to a strange world to convince others to join her war. We meet Prince Kersai and I have a theory about him but time will tell.

This book doesn’t hold back on the gut punches and there are a lot of twists. I saw the final one coming like a slow motion scene. I cannot wait for book 3!

Read if you like romantasy with a twist, supernatural worlds vampires wolves and all manner of creatures. PJ has created an amazing world ❤️

This is book 2 in the series. I loved Book 1 but Book 2? Book 2 was incredible!!

In order to go to war with her father, King of the Nighstalkers, Lottie has to grow up fast and become the princess she is meant to be. To get warriors she has to use her new found World Whisperer magic to take her to another realm... Will it be enough? What price will she need to pay for the help? And how many people will be lost along the way?

Too many would be my answer 😭😭 What a powerful and heartbreaking book... but also filled with hope about finding your people and finding yourself.

I loved seeing the other world and the descriptions were magical, I felt like I could smell the flowers (and the grey stuff!) I love how they all have to fight and don't just get handed a win by the larger magical forces. Once again there was more shocking moments that had me gasping. I just wish book 3 was out so I could jump straight into that. However, it does now mean that book 3 will be one of my most anticipated reads!

I'm excited to see where book 3 goes and if I'm right about my Prince Kerasi theory.

Highly recommend if you like:
• Urban fantasy
• Fast paced, heart pounding and thrilling reads
• Amazing writing
• Loveable characters
• vampires/Fae/werewolf creatures
• Magic and new worlds

Full disclosure, I know the author. But don’t think that makes me biased, because if there were flaws, issues or I didn’t like this, I’d tell her straight.

But here I am reviewing it, because it’s just awesome. The FMC is well written with her own flaws to contend with which is refreshing as a lot of heroes and heroines often come across as perfect. Lottie has an internal worry that is perfect for the character, it makes her real in a fantastical world.

This is a series to watch, as it’s well developed, visual and unlike anything I’ve seen or read.

Well worth your time.

Loved this book. Strong character development. Action-packed scenes filled with excitement. Triumph and heartache that makes you wish book 3 in the series was already out but at the same time glad it's not so you can have time to process. As much as I enjoyed Blood of the Nightstalker, Crystals of the Crowned Throne was even better. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
