What happens when you marry a serious intellectual with a rich fantasy life to a perfectionistic overachiever with a hot body? Sometimes you get discord and separation. Other times, you get Goodreads, too many bottles of Haut-Brion, a luxe swingers club, and Lexus sex.
Barton and Katelyn Fiske are a normal couple with some all-too-normal marital issues. The Fiskes have two small children, an underwater mortgage, and too many bills to pay. He works hard, she spends harder. They haven't had sex in months, and Barton is sleeping in the den of their colonial-style home in Downwind Beach, Florida. The Fiskes attend couples’ counseling, but it isn’t helping. They're on the verge of breaking up their ten-year marriage.
Katelyn wants her husband to stop fantasizing about a woman from his past. Barton wants his wife to stop prying into his private thoughts. And Dr. Colony, their high-end Palm Beach therapist, wants husband and wife to practice her mutualization exercises so that they can enjoy a normal relationship.
Fuck normal, Barton thinks. Little does he know, his wife is thinking the same thing.
Originally from Boston, Mickey J. Corrigan lives and writes and gets into trouble in South Florida, where the men run guns and the women run after them.
Lexicographer Samuel Johnson noted that, “He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.” Barton Fiske is a man in pain but with no pain relief in sight. Instead of making himself a beast, he succeeds only in making himself miserable. Haunted by a long ago one-night stand, he obsesses over Paulette, the cool seductress he landed before his marriage to the taut Katelyn. He writes bad poetry and never-mailed letters to the fantasy woman in his head, who lives but an hour away. He even takes steps to reunite with her by stalking her on Goodreads and pretending to like the same authors.
Wife Katelyn has her own obsessions: the gym and denying sex to her husband when she uncovers his emotional infidelity in his stash of letters.
With his testicles playing Love is Blue on repeat, Barton finally lashes out in a counseling session and declares their marriage dead. Katelyn is relieved, and dials up her drinking buddy, Teena, to celebrate the long-sought release from her cheating husband.
Seeing his chance for true happiness, Barton makes his own plans to celebrate, by scheming to meet with Paulette. Meanwhile, Teena has made special plans for Katelyn by inviting a handsy and roguish swinger to their separation celebration.
The F*ck Normal table is now set, and just desserts in the form of revenge sex are about to be served. Or not.
With a literary ear and an eye for human drama, Mickey J. Corrigan bends the long curve of a ten-year itch into a compelling tale of love gone astray. She deftly shows us how the stuff of fantasies can either fuel our desires, or set everything ablaze.
F*CK NORMAL is a hot little book about a married couple, Bart and Katelyn who are having problems in the bedroom. Their sex life is non existent and Bart has been sleeping on the couch for over a year. Why you ask? Well, it seems Bart can't let go of a girl he made love to once back in college. He hasn't seen her since but he fantasizes about her constantly and is always looking at Katelyn with those far away eyes. She can't take it anymore and tells him during marriage counseling, it's his fantasies or her! He can't have both anymore! She is sick of it and deserves more. What is Bart going to do? Leave his family? Try and find Paulette, the girl from his past? Aren't you dying to know? Read the book! It's only 98 pages but it tells quite a tale of sadness, heartbreak, and maybe even forgiveness and hope. That's all I'm going to say as I don't want to ruin this story for anyone else!
Mickey does a great job connecting you with the characters. I really enjoyed this book. I'm never disappointed when I read one of Mickey's tales and this one was no different! I always find myself devouring everything Mickey writes!
Every girl wants to marry a man who is smart and good looking, add some tenderness and you have the right kind of man. But what happens when you have been married to him for ten years and suddenly it all goes to heck?
He ends up sleeping on the couch in the den, dreaming about other woman. And you, well you see how fast you can spend the hard earned cash he brings in whilst doing a little bit of fantasizing yourself.
With that of course not sounding like a happy and ideal marriage the couple in this read obviously need urgent help. The help comes in the form of a high end Palm Beach therapist who tells them to return to the land of the normal people.
But very soon things get more than just out of hand as the couple go from no sex and no proper communication to full blown chaos, then they both start to think and then it hits them, normal , who needs normal when you can be wild, but of course neither one knows the other one's thoughts.
This was a rather out there read, but this what I have come to expect from this author, she takes everyday happenings and pushes the boundaries by showing what happens when the real life actions are taken, because let's face it everyone out there tries something new to save a relationship, they are usually just not confident enough to admit it, which is completely fine because everyone as a right to privacy.
But yes the actions of the characters especially those of our heroine were a bit eye brow raising to me, she get's herself into more trouble than pleasure but this is also what teaches her the message she needs to hear.
A message of when you want to fix your marriage start at home, don't always immediately go and involve strangers and go seeking wild and weird bald sex crazed men to furful your fantasies.
I recommend this read for fans that don't mind a little bit of the crazy , and who don't cringe at a swear word or two , you will take away a valuable message of communication is always vital and of course only you know your wild side not some quack that thinks they can fix everything by labeling you into a perfect so does not exist normal world.
4 star review " Normal is not always the answer to all problems, sometimes we need to get a little wild to see the wonderful"
I received this book as an ARC for a honest review. It is a light- hearted fun little read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bart and Katelyn are having marriage problems after ten years of marriage. Bart has been sleeping on the couch for the last eleven months. To save the marriage they have seen several marriage counselors to no avail. Katelyn has decided she is done, and issues Bart an ultimatum. Choose her and their family or the Jersey Bitch (a one night stand he has crushed on since before they met named Paulette.) Katelyn found unmailed love letters he had written to Paulette and never sent. Bart can't stop thinking of this woman and he feels as long as he is faithful there shouldn't be a problem as he doesn't see Paulette. (Come to find out he also stalks her on the computer lol) The whole book happens in one days time. They both leave the counselors office free to do what they want. What will happen? It's awesome as they both find out the grass is not always greener and some memories are just fantasies. All in all, light funny read. http://harpsromancebookreview.com
Once again Ms. Corrigan has managed to pull me out of my comfort zone. I’m a little boring, so this is a perfect detour for me.
From the first chapter, Ms. Corrigan paints a wonderful picture with her words and fantastic sense of humor, immediately putting her leading man, Bart Fiske in a bit of a hard place- pun intended.
A wife with a broken heart, ready for a little excitement, Katelyn falls victim to peer pressure, overloaded hormones, and some pricey wine, all thanks to that best friend of hers.
When fantasy and excitement turn out to be too much of a good thing for these individuals, they realize a good thing is just what they had together and decide to give it another chance.
I love happy endings and this one worked out perfectly. Well done. I give this little book a big five stars.

This was a very outrageous book. So much happens that I had to remind myself that it all happens in only one day. F*uck Normal is the story of Bart and Katelyn Fiske. They have been experiencing marital issues for the past 11 months or so. Most of the trouble stems around the fact that Bart has been fantasizing about a woman that he had a one night stand with back in college. It’s so bad that he had wrote her several letters and poems but he never sent them to her. Katelyn finds out and withholds sex for 11 months. That’s just the short version of their problems.
The book opens with Bart and Katelyn preparing to make another failed visit to their marriage counselor. Everything that happens seems to be based around the couple’s lack of sex. If I gave you more details, it would actually ruin the book since it all happens in one day. Nonetheless, they both attempt to explore some other sexual encounters that result in surprise endings that can only be classified as a comedy of errors. If this was a movie, it would be an X-rated parody. The language was graphic and the descriptions of their escapades left nothing to the imagination. The fact that this is a couple that was living a fairytale life at one point, just makes this even more of a farce. Oddly enough, I’m sure that was the point of this book.
If you are interested in reading an over the top romp, this is definitely the book for you. I would love to read another book like this from the author. It was hilarious.
You'd think that The Fiskes have perfect marriage but nothing could be further from the truth. Barton "Bart" Fiske has been forced into celibacy for the past eleven months because his wife Katelyn "Kate". Kate refuses to share her body with a man who can't forget a past sexual encounter. Bart and Kate are in couples therapy but doesn't appear to be working for either of them. When Kate issues the demand that Bart forget his obsession with The Jersey Devil. Bart is stunned yet seems that there is no choice for him to see it thru. Bart reluctantly gives into Kate's demand which upset her more. Will Kate and Bart reconcile? Can Bart forget his obsession? Your answers await you in F*ck Normal.
This book is appropriately titled and well written as well. F*ck Normal tells how a couple goes astray and unsure how to get back what they had to begin with. Ms. Corrigan's writing and characters leap off the page. I was sucked into the book from first page to last page. F*ck Normal is clever, witty, insightful, raises questions, and explores new ideas. I will definitely read more of this author's work in the future.

This is a funny story and never to take your marriage for granted. This couple both think that the other one doesn't love each other but it is totally the opposite. During a counselling session, they agree to separation. This only lasts one day, but while they are separated, they both get into just a little bit of trouble.
In the end, they both realize they weren't fully communicating and the both run back to each other's arms. They had it all to begin with. Does their day of adventure hurt them more then they know?
This is a quick funny read so if you need something fast to read, this is a good one.

I wasn’t sure what this was about when I got it for free. At only 70 pages, it was okay. The entire story was predictable and just a big tease. Not really worth the time, though some may like it.
