I found that there was some improvement to the writing in the fifth installment, but that improvement for me; just doesn't carry to the story. The connection to any character is missing and desperately needed. Grace should be somewhat pitied at this point. She is weak and easily manipulated and David...
David has to be one of the jerkiest males (Hero is not the term for this guy) I have come across. Although I doubt Grace will come to her senses and leave David - I have a feeling that the change of heart might come from David having a revelation of his feelings for Grace; ultimately attempting to win over our affections. Too little too late. David is not redeemable.
This type of story needs to be able to pull in the reader and connect them to the characters. This is not happening. David is placing Grace into situations to explore HIS sexual desires so she can be kept around. And yes, in turn she is finding herself aroused, but these situations require the trust of the partner. David for lack of a better word/phrase is an abuser.
I am not one of those readers who reverts to the word abuse when it comes to kink or hard core reads. David is manipulative and he is conning her into agreeing to do things she has hesitations about. The trust is non-existent and in part the acts are not consensual until he tells her that if she fails or says no, then they are finished. If that was not the intent of the author so be it - but it is the impression received. If the intent was to make him so horrible that his redemption is a fantastical transformation ; she unfortunately made him just too horrible for any chance of being seen as anything more than a deplorable human (fictional) being.
Will I read more of this series? Unfortunately probably yes. I want to know what the last trials are and part of me wants her to tell him to take his Dining Club & Trials and shove them up his ass.

Short review for a short read. I toggled between 1 and 1.5 stars for this installment of Marina Anderson's "The Dining Club" serial novel - "Touch". Not very much eventful happened, at least not apart from what I expected. Thus there wasn't any suspense when I saw the overarching events came to be. It's not the worst written part in this series, but it's not only predictable, but a little lacking and redundant. It does give resolution to one part of Grace's trial situation, so Amber and Andrew's positions and relationships are challenged, and Andrew makes a move and has some sentiments to spare...which result in something of a cliffhanger ending.
I'm still having trouble connecting with these characters (I still don't see or feel the connection of the relationships that are told in this, rather than shown), not just in the sexy time romps, but also for development. The clearest motivations from the characters in this series came with the last installment, which I think was the best among the ones I've perused besides the opening. As far as whether I would continue with the novel from this point - probably if it were a complete novel, maybe, but I think this is where I stop because it's not holding my attention in its serial parts, and I'm wanting more from the characters in terms of motivation, conflict, and engagement.

3 Conflicted stars
At the third trial, Grace is determined to succeed even though she realizes completely that Amber will do everything in her power to thwart her. When both Amber and Andrew conspire to keep Grace from winning the competition with Amy, even David seems aware of what they are doing. But what is confusing is David's own response. He does a few thing that go against wanting Grace to succeed. He feels that he will become bored with her eventually as he always has with other women, even though she's the only one to ever make it this far and the only one who he thinks he could actually love. He's still holding himself back.
Now Andrew comes up with another plan to come between David and Grace... and that is telling her the truth.
I think David needs a good shrink before he makes someone else jump through hoops to be what he wants the to be. He might want to know what he wants before doing that.

I'm so confused. I don't see how David is a catch? Am I missing something? He's certainly NOT a charmer, he doesn't have Grace's best interest at heart. He seems cold and lack emotion, empathy.
At this point, I wish Grace would see what a tool David is, and that the challenges she faces monthly are for HER and not for HIM.
To me, it's like David is blackmailing poor Grace.

Again it finished sooner than I would have liked, half way through a conversation no less..... Starting to become very annoying.
I was hoping Grace would toughen up a bit but no she just goes along with what David says and lets him manipulate her. I understand he struggles to "love" but I think his attitude is completely unnecessary.

"Touch" was easier to read than the two previous books of the series I've read. The part of the story I felt interested in was the doubt about the possibility that Grace is going to leave David for Andrew (let's hope she will). However, there were a few moments who bothered me in the book.

Touch , the fifth installment of The Dining Club Series, begins right where we left off and ends on the biggest cliffy so far, and has Grace thinking that she wouldn't be opposed to Andrew joining in whatever is planned for later in the evening. Which. Whatever.
That's pretty much the way I felt about this novella's challenge. And the series as a whole. I still don't understand David's motivations--does he want Grace to succeed or not? He doesn't even know. He says things like this:
But then he does his best to be sure she doesn't succeed, and thinks things like this:
We also get a glimpse of a cockamamie plan set forth by two key players in the story, and more of Grace's friend, Fran's, whining and asking about the size of David's dick. I did like Grace slightly more in this one. Her jealousy made total sense to me, and I'm glad she recognized it.
There were still the things I didn't like, like the cringe-worthy words ("urethra" and "love juices" come to mind) and the douche-baggery in general. I also forgot to mention this in a previous review, but there is a "special lubricant" that's imported from the far East that makes me giggle every time it's mentioned. It's powerful stuff. Maybe I need some of that.

This installment picks up right where the last one left off. Grace is set to begin her fourth trial and knows that it will be a tough one, especially knowing that Amber is enemy number one. Nevertheless, Grace carries on through the trial with a mixture of nerves and excitement.
This story didn't grip me the way the others had. Yes, it had some of the elements of passion and expectation as the others, but I think it lacked on something I can't quite put my finger on.
First, there were the twins. I did not care for them at all, nor did I want to read about them pleasuring each other. Truly, it threw me off the story. At least, it wasn't mentioned more than a couple of times and never in great detail.
Then there was the whole spectacle that took place during the trial. Both Amber and Andrew were determined to sabotage this test for Grace and their presence alone bothered me greatly. I don't like them. Not one bit. It can be said that they add to the conflict of the overall story, but to me they don't. This is not an easy endeavor for Grace to get through as it is and would rather the author focused on her struggles and the development of her relationship with David.
To top it all off, there was David and his negative thoughts, doubts and second-guessing. I was wishing to see more of David's emotions at this point as well as some sort of growth from him, but I found him as aloof as ever. Grace and David didn't have any intimate moments outside of what they shared at the Club and it's not working for me as a way to build their romance.
I am still interested in getting to the bottom of this. I want Grace to succeed, if only so she can throw it on David's face if he rejects her afterwards. I don't care much for Andrew or Amber's role in the story, so I'm hoping that the author doesn't let them succeed in sabotaging Grace's chances.
All in all, Touch did a good job in recounting Grace's latest trial. It didn't have the usual sensual aspects I've come to expect, nor the emotions I was hoping to see, but it wasn't a total failure.

Did you ever have so much pleasure that it hurt? Touch picks up where the fourth novella left off. Grace is continuing in her trials at the dining club to try and succeed at finding her spot at David's club. But we find David now try to self sabotage himself as he realizes he has feelings for Grace he didn't think possible. When Grace is set up by Amber and Andrew during her trial she finds David almost failing her in her mission.
After David allows her to move through she finds him slightly detached until they arrive at her apartment where he starts to tell her about table #5, where Amber sits. Before David can explain he runs off as he is running behind on meeting his assistant and is gone for 3 weeks on business. We find out that Amber and Andrew both have there own theory on what they want and both have sights on David and Grace.
Andrew finds himself drawn to Grace and wants her to fail at the club so he can pursue her privately. Amber has been David's play thing for 10 years and even with all his lovers he always comes back to Amber and she sees Grace as her biggest risk in losing David forever. The books ends with Andrew getting ready to tell Grace some information about David that she may not want to hear.
There is a lot at stake in this book and we know that Grace has found herself in love with David, but is David capable of returning that love? Is the dining club going to define everything for them? Can David only want Grace?
I can't wait to read the rest of the story to see where the lines are drawn and if David really cares for Grace and stay away from his past or if he will lose her to Andrew....

I read these first 5 parts straight after each other and now I'm not sure what happened in what part, so I'm just gonna review them all together...
Grace and David have some wicked chemistry, when they're on the same page and not questioning motives, desires, and the future.
I love how Grace is embracing and exploring this new side of her sexuality, although the setting of The Dining Club is highly controlled and intimidating. But I'm not a fan of how David seems to have become more distant since their first visit to the club.
Even more, I HATE David's double standards! Complaining about how his mother used his father's love for her to control him, stopping him from doing the things he loved & doing what she wanted, a slow manipulation over time. He swears he will never let a woman do that to him. However, David knows exactly how Grace feels about him, and he's using that as a weapon against her, to manipulate & pressure her into completing the challenges at The Dining Club.
Yes, she does end up enjoying the things she experiences, but that doesn't make it ok for David to pull the "if you love me" & "you're doing it for us" bullshit. If it's ok for him, then Grace too has a right to do the same.
Although this isn't completely blowing me away, I still want to finish off the last 3 parts in this series.

Part 5 of Marina Anderson's DINING CLUB SERIES is here and it does not disappoint. Grace and David are still at it and part 5 opens with the next trial. The trial does not disappoint and neither does all the scheming that's occurring behind the scenes.
Grace's determination to succeed and pass each trial in order to be closer to David, to be able to fully and openly love him and hopefully receive the same in turn is being thwarted with every available chance. What do you do when who you most desire is desired by someone else? David's inner battle is coming into the forefront and he can no longer fully hide his actions; whether planned or subconscious in response to Grace's achievements. The question is raised in whether he will be her biggest hurdle or biggest prize.
All the while there is danger in the dark recesses. Amber and Andrew have now bonded over a common need and they are willing to pull out all the stops to see that Grace's failure is there greatest scene yet. One will bask in her failure, while the other will dutifully be there to pick up the pieces. The proverbial pot is coming to a boil as the scene is now set for the final trial.
Will Grace succeed and find the love and happiness she desires? Will David face his fears and find that Grace truly is his perfect match? Can the DINING CLUB survive the storm that's brewing within it's walls? You'll just have to make a reservation and grab a set for Part 6....CARESS

In the fifth part of the Dining Club, Grace is entering her third trial. In this trial she is competing against one of the twins – Amy – who has a strong endurance. With experience, knowledge and strength on her side, Amy is the sure winner of this challenge with immensely delights Amber, Andrew and…David? Grace is fueled though by her jealousy of Amber and is determined to do what is necessary to keep David’s affections focused on her. David doesn’t play fair thought and excites Grace even before the trial began then teases her to no end.
I found myself becoming less and less of a David fan as this part five played out. His behavior is that of a controlling bastard who doesn’t really know what will satisfy him for the long hall and he is playing with strong emotions in Grace and using them against her. Andrew’s affections continue to grow while Amber’s determination to eliminate Grace from David’s life exponentially grows. Andrew takes matters into his own hands and decides to run into Grace and explain a few things to her. Grace reluctantly invites him up to her flat but doesn’t feel comfortable with this at all.
Personally, I think Grace should tell them all to go to hell and find her Mr. Perfect elsewhere but with that said, I again couldn’t wait for what happened and had to read part six too.

3 out of 5 for this reader folks!
Okay so I have not been very kind with my reviews of this series, and that goes against my own views on book reviews as I have the utmost respect for an author who lays their talent out like that. Yes, they do so with the chance of receiving negative remarks but I have yet to come across any book that I can't seem to find a positive thing to say!
You know how I feel about David from my previous reviews, so I will not beat that dead horse, no redemption has been achieved in my opinion and honestly he has gone downhill further. Grace is annoying me as well because I see a SUB possessing the power and she is letting herself be walked all over!
AMBER the bitch villian and her sidekick Andrew (who I actually really liked but now not so much now) and written perfectly. My blood pressure shoots up with the unfairness and plotting that these two engage in. The sex is hot, VERY HOT and if you strip away all the emotion .. well you still have great sex! LOL
Let's see what part 6 brings!

So, it goes without saying the lack of personality on David's end is disappointing. I've been hoping for something more from him besides beating his chest, and threatening Grace to leave when she even considers holding her breath at any turn. It's actually getting on my nerves that the only interaction aside from sex outside the club, is him basically threatening that they are finished if she does not complete the trials. Come on, really? Again I say, if Grace is going to go through these trials, push her sexual boundaries, then what are you, dear David, giving to her besides a relationship. She can find that with someone else (maybe even Andrew) but I don't see yet, what makes you so special. Sex can be dynamite but if you're personality sucks..I don't see that being a very long fulfilled relationship for both parties.

It seems that Grace has passed the third test. She just doesn't know what to think anymore. One minute David is working against her to make her fail and the next he is helping her. She also knows that Amber is wanting David and she vows to not let her win. Now Alexander is starting to start show his feelings for her. He wants her and hates the way David is treating her.
Alexander thinks that he needs to tell Grace about David. He's hoping that will make her want to leave David and be with him. I am undecided right now on which man I like the most. David is really starting to drive me crazy and I just want to do something to Amber. I can't wait for the next book so that I can see what Alexander is going to tell Grace about David. I also can't wait to see what other test's that Grace has to go thorough to prove herself.

But with all this comes Graces determination to prove everyone wrong and actually pass. She needs to figure out why this is but she doesnt know how to go about it.

Touch is the fifth installment in the series. David's feelings for Grace are conflicting as she struggles to surpass trial 3. While there are some similarities to previous installments, the reader has the chance to see how much Grace's feelings for David are being manipulated by those around her while Andrew aggressively continues with the scheme he and Amber have concocted.
This is a very quick read but the stories are hot. I find David to be so cold that I can't understand why Grace fancies him. It leaves me feeling that Grace's feelings are misguided by confusing physical compatibility with emotional. Hopefully in the next book she will begin to see who really cares for her and David will gain a better appreciation for his undeserved affection.

The series is heating up. It gets better with each installment. I do d it annoying that this could be one book instead of multiple installments. Now I find that I cannot find the next 3 installments though goodreads shows they are published. I M interested to see what happens on the fourth visit to the club and I want to know what occurs to vie for table 5. I am hoping Andrew can win Grace over because I do not trust David or Amber and I dint think David can commit long term. He has even said he knows he will get bored with Grace. My question then is Why bother?? CALL OFF THE . WHOLE CHARADE NOW before Grace gets hurt worse!! I have to know how it ends so I . Will continue to look for the rest of the story.

Grace is a lovely woman, who wants to love and hold her man David. But David just has other ideas with this dark side to him. He wants to CONTROL, MANIPULATE and USE her. I am so frustrated that he is doing this. I feel like I want throw something at him. Amber on the other hand, I want to strangle her. She is another 1 who is manipulative and is out for Number 1. Then we have Andrew who is madly in love with Grace, but it's more than his job's worth to have feelings for her.
It's just stopped in the middle. Now what happens next with Grace and David? Does Andrew get what he wants? Does Amber get David? All will be revealed in the next book of The Dining Club which is CARESS.

Unlike my other reviews for the first four installments for this series, this book was much better and I was shocked. I was genuinely surprised because I was thinking here I go punishing myself again and reading this series. The writing is definitely more relaxed and no longer forced and things seem to flow naturally. The characters are more realistic with issues. I have to say I do not like Amber at all she is evil. I wish David wasn't so aloof and indifferent. I think his character really hasn't shown any progress or growth. He seems to be stagnant. Let's hope the rest of the books are better or at least keeps improving.

This book was much better than the last two, i felt the story was beginning to drift off and lose it's point however it just picked it's self up and got good :)

I'm still not a David fan and am becoming less enamored of Andrew. It's also frustrating that Grace seems rather clueless and as much as she professes to love David, I can't fathom the reasons why.

Grace main objective tonight is to beat Amy. they can take as long as they want and go as many times as they want. First one to say they cannot take anymore pleasure wins. Grace will start to feel jealous when she see's David taking care of Amy.
