Radimir Aristov marches into my struggling bookstore…and my life will never be the same again.

He’s utterly gorgeous. Completely ruthless. The Russian mafia boss everyone’s afraid of.

I shouldn’t be attracted to this man. But then he buys the building so my bookstore doesn’t have to close. Kills any man who touches me. And looks at me with a gaze that melts the clothes from my body. He growls in my ear that he’s a monster I should run from, but neither of us can resist. We give in for one crazy night….

Then I see too much and Radimir has to choose: kill me, or force a ring onto my finger.

Now I’m living in his penthouse and the calendar’s counting down the days to our wedding. I start to see a side of him no one else does. This monster has a heart…and I’m falling for him.

Now we’re trapped in a web of lies with his enemies closing in. No one thinks a curvy, bookish woman like me can survive in the brutal world of the Bratva. But I’ve been underestimated my entire life. I’ll do whatever it takes, become the mafia queen he needs me to be. This is my story and I’m fighting for my happy-ever-after.

Frozen Heart is a stand alone romantic suspense by Helena Newbury. I downloaded this on release day but it’s taken me awhile to get to it. I KNEW once I started it, I would become obsessed because it’s Helena Newbury!!! And, I was right. I’ve thought of nothing but this book for the last two days. I loved the characters so so much. Very little of my home tasks got done because all I wanted to do was read!

Radimir Aristov is the oldest of the Aristov brothers and is the head of the family, he is a Russian mob boss, the king of Chicago. He is cold, calculated and feared by all. Then he walked into a tiny book store and there she was. He couldn’t look away from her. And from that moment on, his complete focus changed. Now all he saw, all he thought about, was her.

“I looked down into those big green eyes and I was just...overcome by her.”

Bronwyn Hanford is twenty seven years old. She is living her dream by owning her own book store, All You Need is Books. But it’s a small shop and after the newness of it wore off, she’s starting to worry about staying afloat. And, at the same time, she is paying for care for her beloved grandmother. Still, her book store is her happy place. And that’s where she was when “he” waltzed into her shop, with those ice blue eyes and fancy suit. She had no idea who he was and he seemed completely distracted, until he finally looked up and their eyes met and her world turned upside down.

He was cold as ice, she was all warmth and innocence. He was a mob boss, she was a nerdy book store owner. What could he ever see in her? But the attraction was there. He thought he could stay away. She thought she should stay away. But neither could do it. The pull was too intense. But then, when Bronwyn sees something she shouldn’t have and puts both herself, Radimir and his entire family in danger, there is only one way to protect them, marry him!

“There was a part of her that needed my darkness as much as I needed her light.”

Bronwyn has gone from her solitary life working long days and going home to her tiny apartment to moving in with Radimir in his penthouse apartment. The more she learns of the life her husband to be lives, the less she sees how she could ever fit into it. But then something happens and they found themselves in danger, their very existence is at risk, along with everything Radimir and his brothers have worked for.

As I said before, I could not put this down. And wow, talk about the growth of the characters! Both Radimir and Bronwyn changed and grew so much in this story. Of course, everything builds and builds to the epic ending. I don’t know how this author does it time and time again. She amazes me with every single book. If you haven’t read her before, you are so missing out.

I really wanted to give this book a higher score, but there were just so many moments that defied logic that I couldn’t.

I’ve read a lot of mafia romance, and this isn’t a dark romance. That’s fine. But the “mafia” in this book apparently consists of a bunch of incompetent idiots. Here is a list of their failings:

The FMC is attacked in her bookstore because she has no one guarding her even though the MMC knows that gangs in that area shake down business owners.

The FMC wanders into a rival gang’s club during her bachelorette and almost gets raped and murdered because apparently the future Pahkan’s wife has literally no security to either stop her from going into this club or protect her once she’s there.

The wedding is attacked by a rival gang because apparently even at the Pahkan’s wedding there are only like 4 guards outside and none inside.

The couple is attacked on their honeymoon because they have no weapons because THEY FLEW COMMERCIAL AND COULDNT PACK GUNS. The Russian mobster billionaire doesn’t have a private jet? He has to roadtrip when he does traveling murders cus he’s at the mercy of TSA? They also, again, have no security with them. Not even one guard.

Also the way they are “attacked” is absurd. The other bad guys slip a bag of snakes into their hotel room and lock the door and then just…hope the snakes are in a mood? Not to belabor the point, but where are the guns?? What in the Scooby Doo mystery is happening here??

Then there is an assassination attempt on the MMC’s uncle’s dogs (thankfully the puppies survive) wherein someone throws poisoned steaks at them in the street in front of the uncle. So he just sort of…takes them away. Again, the gun shortage in this city is appalling.

The FMC almost gets blown up with a car bomb in a car that’s literally sitting in the mafia mansion’s driveway. So someone just walked past the security (assuming there was any) and planted a bomb in a place that a literal Ring camera could pick up.

While they are under siege by enemies, the FMC invites a stylist to the house to make her look more mafia wife. The guards lower their weapons and let the stylist in because she was yelling at them and so they were intimidated. And the MMC had NO IDEA she was there because he wanders down hours later and is like who is this? No wonder someone was able to bomb a car right in front of the front door.

They come up with a brilliant plan to defeat the bad guy…or, rather, the FMC does. The mafia guys have no idea what to do once they are betrayed, and the FMC not only immediately figures out HOW they were betrayed, but how to get another family to become their allies. This plan is basically to go to the other mob family and offer to join forces. Ingenious! And the mobsters are like wow, how did you think of that? We never would have figured it out. But the text lets us know that the FMC has a very good mind for organization, based on her years working in a supermarket, and so apparently she’s much better at running the mafia than these guys.

The final kidnapping happens because the FMC is allowed to return to her bookstore (with the explanation that the rival bad guy has never ventured there before, even though he is currently bombing literally every building they own in the city and he knows this is her shop) with only 4 guards stationed OUTSIDE. And the MMC drops her off inside the store without ever checking the back room, where the other bad guy is just chillin with the FMC’s sick granny cus apparently granny didn’t have any guards either. WHY ARE THERE NO GUARDS ANYWHERE?!!!

The FMC pretty much continuously rescues herself, which I love, but it’s not because she’s a badass, it’s because her husband is an incompetent who has no idea how to keep her safe. Oh, I should also mention that the entire inciting incident for the marriage of convenience in this book is that the FMC witness the MMC committing a murder (where, in typical bumbling fashion, he fails to notice a hidden camera and gets fingerprints and footprints everywhere, incidentally) and so she has to marry him or the mob will have to kill her to shut her up and only marital privilege can protect her. And yet after the bachelorette attack, the FMC’s rando besties are told about literally EVERYTHING, including the murder, and are just allowed to walk out and presumably, if they so choose, rat the Bratva out to anyone.

This isn’t an exhaustive list of all the events that strain credulity, but it’s the main ones. The bitch if it is that I really liked this main couple. Their chemistry was great, I loved that he was a softy for her, the love scenes were good…it just seemed like this author couldn’t decide what she wanted this book to be, and a mafia romance should NOT have been where she landed. I’m ok with a lighter mafia story. But there is nothing sexy about a Pahkan who isn’t even good at his job. I hope the future books in this series dont suffer the same fate as this one.

Wow! When it comes to Russian mafia romances, Helena is definitely the best source. Her books are not sweet and swoony, but always brutal, raw and authentic.

This book is, of course, no different.
An unusual love story between a bookshop owner and a mafia boss.

A Russian pakhan, who is anything but open to romance.
A man feared by all, but also respected.

Bronwyn is someone who knows little except hard work and worries about money.
Her life is her bookshop and, of course, her grandma.
She isn't even interested in men or dates.
Her past has taught her better.

Radimir doesn't even see the point in thinking about relationships.
If he wants women, they are always available.
He has a job that dictates his life.
He has no time for himself or things not involving the Bratva.

Yes, they are completely different, but in reality, very similar.
Do they have the same reasons for going through life alone?
Definitely not.
Are they happy with their lives?
In a very sad way, yes.

But what if things could be different, better?
What if circumstances force them to be together?
What if their lives depend on their relationship?

This is a great, action-packed, and gripping story.
An exciting, captivating and scorching-hot mafia romance. The spice level is over the top (5/5).

I enjoyed every second of this book.

Can a cosy romance live in the heart of a dark thriller? I bet on yes. And I bet on this deliciously carnal story that gives as much sweet as it gives decadent.

The writing is so vibrant and fully fledged. It shapes such passionate intimacy, so physical and titillating. I enjoyed the sensuality of it all with all my senses. Even so, I fell in love with the circumstances that surround the couple and with the couple itself. On the one hand, she is a tender, resilient, sweet bookstore owner and he is a Russian mafia boss.

I honestly could not resist that.

Add to that ridiculously hot context the fact that he is smitten by her curvy beauty and innocence and good heart, and that she suddenly dreams of his possessive darkness and appreciates his good manners and care. Oh my, faints in a blast of ardent pleasure.

My favourite part was the beginning when the huge contrast of sweetness and danger collides with these two characters meeting each other and falling hard against all odds. I loved the funny bookish details. Yet the story grows into something so outrageously epic that I was glued to every page.

The bookstore owner and the mafia boss get together for all intents and purposes, and the city itself is shaken. It’s a deluge of action and twists filled with terrible loss and unimaginable outcomes and moving emotional realisations. Some of the action scenes were a bit far-fetched but they each added to this feel of cinematic rush and scope. Pure adrenaline.

I’m undoubtedly glad that I could read this book, and now I’m wondering if those other Russian characters will be getting their story too...

Oh my goodness! This one had me hooked! Radimir is one of those guys that you just can't forget. Protective to his core, and when he meets Bronwyn, there's just something about her that he can't let go of. There's so much about this to love. Strong characters, loyalty, and getting to see Bronwyn fight her own insecurities and grow. There's danger, bits of suspense, intensity, yet there's sweet, and wow... that heat! It's a great read and I'm ready for Radimir's brothers!

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

My favorite author is back at it again. No one does suspense better than Helena Newbury and it's so fun to go back into the mafia world. Easter eggs and cameos abound and my boy (SPOILER) (NAME REDACTED) shows up for the fun! We've got disability rep and a host of new side characters. I hope the brothers get their own books eventually.

I am an ARC reader for Helena Newbury. I give Frozen heart 4 out of 5 stars. It started of a bit slow but as the story continued it got better. I felt like in the beginning there could of been more of a story line with how Radimir and Brownyn came together. Would of made the love for each other more believable. Just felt they fell in love with each other without much interaction between them. Love that we got Konstantin and Alexei in this story. Would of also love to see more of a ruthless mob boss in Radimir. Other than that the story did keep you on the edge of your seat and want to keep reading.
Radimir -had a tough upbringing. Had a good childhood until his world got turned upside down. Had to become a “monster” to survive not just himself but his brothers. But when a red head comes into his life, maybe he’s more than a “monster”.

Book Name/Series: Frozen Heart
Author: Helena Newbury
Standalone?: Can be read as a standalone, but includes characters from other books.

2 Stars

My Opinion: There were parts of this book that I liked, but unfortunately there were also so many slightly ridiculous and absurd things that happened that ended up undermining the book for me. Firstly, I can’t say I was always a fan of the writing. Sometimes the descriptions and metaphors were just a little too much. Secondly, the number of times this couple gets attacked because of a lack of security or forethought was honestly mind boggling:
That being said, I did like the hero and heroine’s relationship, and I think they had some good chemistry.

Hero: 2/5. I had mixed feelings about Radimir. I liked that he was quite brutal but was a softie for the heroine, and that he listened to her and ideas, however, he quite often came across as a bit of an incompetent fool considering he was a Pakhan and that just wasn’t very attractive at all:
Heroine: 3/5. I liked Bronwyn (27) for the most part, but I didn’t love her. The book makes a point of telling and showing us that she’s pretty smart and has a head for organisation. However, this unfortunately has the consequence of making the hero look even more incompetent when she has to help him and his brothers come up with a plan to win the war against their rival: I also didn’t love the constant “I can’t possibly love a monster” from her, but that might be my love of dark romance showing.

POV: 1st person POV (Radimir and Bronwyn).

Push/Pull:

Sadness: 1/5.

Explicit Sex and Spice Level: Yes. 3/5.

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) Drama: No.

Separation:

Cheating: No.

Closure/Ending: HEA.

Bronwyn owns All You Need Is Books, a quaint bookstore in Chicago. Business has been kind of slow. Between the store and paying for her ailing grandmother's care, and as far as money and her mental health goes, there's not much left. That is until Radimir Aristov crosses her path. This strikingly handsome man needs a gift and what better than a book. Soon he's taking up space in Bronwyn's head, even as she realizes who he really is. Radimir is also cool, controlled and ruthless and when he comes face to face with Bronwyn he's going to need every ounce of his control. He's enchanted and a little confused by Bronwyn. She's definitely enchanting but the confusion seems to be because he feels not in control, almost like he's not himself. He makes sure their paths cross quite often. Bronwyn is captivated by him, his looks, the way he commands respect, but also the life he has chosen.  Radimir is a Bratva mob boss and his reputation most definitely precedes him. He and his brothers rule over half of Chicago. Realizing Bronwyn is too good for him and that she's definitely his biggest weakness, not to mention a huge distraction, he vows to never see her again, until he has no choice but to claim her as his.

A Must Read! I absolutely loved this book!! I need more! More Radimir and Bronwyn. More Valentin and Gennadiy, and also Jen! Even the most hardened if the hardest has a weakness! I loved their story and the characters so much that I didn't want it to end!
I highly recommend this definite must read!!!

Title: So good: steamy, mafia, passionate, intriguing, suspenseful…
All the elements you’ll want. I was entranced by this book from page one. I love a tough mafia man who falls for his woman so hard but fights it just as much until there is no more fight left in him, only passionate adoration. That is what the reader will get in this book. Bronwyn is a bookseller who loves her store but it is not going well financially. On a cold snowy day, a huge handsome man comes to her shop to buy a birthday gift for a young girl. The hunk is none other than Radimir Aristov, Pakhan of this area of Chicago. Bronwyn’s book suggestion brings Radimir back to her shop for the sequel. This starts out hard for Radimir because Bronwyn finds out what he does and she cannot let him into her life but will she eventually? So much tension between these characters I thought my tablet was going to auto-destruct!
If you like lots of steam with your mafia love story with sweet moments and a twist, you will want to read this book. I LOVED it. I read it straight through. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book. Perfect cover; if Radimir was a real person, that would be his picture for sure.

The start of what I hope is a new series focused on one of the most influential Russian Bratva families in Chicago. All Radimir's brothers and uncle have potential for their own books and I do hope to read more about the family in the near future!

As for this book, "Frozen Heart" has Radimir's journey as a Pakhan and as a "human" at the front of the story. He's ruthless and cold as a leader, always in charge and never allowing signs of vulnerability. Hence why his growth and development as the main character is absolutely endearing. His human side was deeply hidden and came out step by step. And only a woman like Bronwyn could pry his heart open and enable him to love and feel all those foreign feelings. Radimir's story is the perfect example that behind every powerful man, there is a strong woman. Radimir is powerful as a boss leader before he meets Bronwyn but together they literally move mountains and their empire grows. I absolutely loved reading their story and I want more!

Shout-out to Helena for bringing Konstantin and Alexei into the story, I loved catching up with them and getting small glimpses into their life now. And I'm glad they are part of Radimir's success!

It was a fluke that Radimir Aristov stepped into Bronwyn's bookstore. He caught her attention and she certainly caught his. Radimir knows though that he can't have Bronwyn, he is the Bratva and she is an innocent. Radimir tries to stay away though but one moment he is acting on an order the next Bronwyn is in the crossfire. He has no choice, she needs to marry him there is no other alternative. The problem is the threat toward Radimir is becoming more dangerous and he has fallen for his lovely bride. Can Bronwyn handle her new life as the Bratva bride or will she run?

Great story. I liked Bronwyn and the fact she was a normal woman. Radimir is completely enchanted with her and I really enjoyed the way Radimir's character grew throughout the story, he had been cold but Bronwyn brings out a different side of him.

3.5 ⭐️

This was hella entertaining and mostly enjoyable but there was a fair bit in this that made my eyes roll. Like the lack of security and preservation for the MCs allowing murder attempts left and right. And the ‘attempts’ on them and their family were something strange for a mafia romance…🐍…like don’t use have guns. They get attacked on their honeymoon and they didn’t have guns to protect themselves due to not getting past airport security with them but aren’t u a millionaire, where is your private jet!

POV: Dual, 1st person.
SERIES or STANDALONE: Standalone.
TROPES: M/F adult, mafia, forced marriage romance.
SIZE: 407 (last page) Kindle pages.
CHARACTERS: Radimir (early 30s?) & Bronwyn (27)

PLOT: 3 📚
ROMANCE: 4 ❤️
SPICE/STEAM: 3 🌶
DARKNESS/TRIGGERS: 1 😈 (violence, murder, talk of past torture and abuse)

⚠️ My bookshelves can contain spoilers.

Helena Newbury has delivered a romance read that is filled with action and suspense to keep the pages turning. Frozen Heart brings us to the Russian mafia world in Chicago with Radimir, a leader in this world, and Bronwyn, a seemingly shy bookstore owner. However, when these two meet and develop a relationship, the sparks ignite the pages. But of course everything is not as it seems and there are outside forces at play that keep these two on the go. Ms. Newbury has introduced us to a new family that have ties to old friends. I can't wait to see more from this world.

Another amazing suspenseful book by Helena Newbury.
I am always excited to read her new books.
Radimir is a mafia boss. He’s sexy, intimidating and will do anything to protect his family. After meeting Bronwyn, he also will do anything to protect her too.
Not only is he intimidating and scary but also caring and loving. What he did for Baba was so sweet.
Bronwyn isn’t just a bookseller, she has guts too and will do anything for her family, including Radimir. She’s also very smart and actually helps the Bratva.
I really enjoyed this book and hoping for more of this world and Radimir’s brothers.

This book was all the rage on my Facebook mafia book club and once again I fell for it!

It’s a rather good book but I didn’t like the MMC Radimir!! The guy was weak as f*** Forget the book title, he is nothing like the broody, cold heart, mafia boss you would want:
- messed up his mission
- Doesn’t bring a gun to his wedding
- Doesn’t bring a gun to his honeymoon… where is the private jet??? Did they fly with easyJet or what???
- Scares of snakes 🐍
- Still finds other women stunning 😒
- When he asks for help he asks for … 30 people!!! The guy is a billionaire surely he could hire some mercenaries.

I thought it would have been better to know about his past throughout the book instead of having the full story at the the end (80%) by then it didn’t add anything to the story.

The beginning was so fast paced I had no idea what was going to happen for the remaining 300 pages.
Within the first 20% they had already met, f*** and agreed to marry!!
However the 🌶️ scenes were described at length 😉 !!
Then came Browyn weird rule: I am attracted to him but he kills people for a living so we stop the s3x 🤔
Then it took ages for them to get married!!

I like the FMC even though she went from “if he loves me he will live the Bratva” to “I will be a badass mafia wife” within one chapter.

✅ meet cute
✅forced marriage
✅kink: exhibitionist / sex club
✅heroine with a disability (arthritis)
✅curvy heroine
✅h kidnapped by the vilain
❌no virgin
❌no cheating/OW drama

Overall it was good with lots of action, I just prefer my MMC darker and unhinged.

Drawn Together . . .

Bronwyn Hanford’s life was changed on the day that Radimir Aristov entered her struggling bookstore. A blizzard driven by the heavy winds made everything cold outside as the snow formed huge drifts. But inside the bookstore, she kept the heat turned up to protect the books from any moisture and because she also hated being cold. With her store losing money, she had to increase her work hours to 12 per day. There was a great deal of work to do just keeping up with shelving new stock, sweeping, cleaning up, and even fixing a leaking pipe. She also needed to make a costume for the children’s story time session; and also had gathered books to donate to a local reading charity. On her feet all day, her joints were aching. And then a scowling man entered the bookstore and her customers shivered from the cold that rushed in.

The tall man was very attractive. But a couple of customers immediately backed toward the door as they stared at the man and quickly left. They seemed to know who he was. And those who remained in the store likewise seemed too afraid to make eye contact with the man. When the line of customers moved up and it was his turn to be helped, she saw no kindness, no caring, and only a scowl was sent her way. But being stubborn, she stared back at him and his expression changed, as if he suddenly wanted to take her for his own! She almost felt heat rising from him. There was something different and dangerous about the man and she couldn’t stop feeling drawn to him. And he seemed equally enthralled with her. She eventually finds out that Radimir is a dangerous Russian Bratva boss. He makes certain that she will not lose her beloved bookstore because it is important to her. And it is when she follows him and witnesses something she should not have seen that her world changes and her life comes down to one of two possibilities: marrying Radimir or being permanently silenced by him.

Moving into his penthouse, they get to know each other in an entirely different way. It seems they may be more alike than different as they learn more about each other. When others make the mistake of underestimating her, she rises up to display her hidden strength. Can she prove herself worthy to become his mafia queen? Have they unexpectedly found their HEA in each other?

Bronwyn and Radimir

Once I started, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s so beautifully written. The words just flow from the pages. The story unfolds seamlessly. I love these two new characters. Bronwyn is a book nerd. She owns a small bookstore that is her pride and joy even tho it isn’t doing very well. She’s young and has RA (rheumatoid arthritis). Her days are a struggle emotionally and physically. I admire her resilience, her dreams, her strengths. Radimir is a Bratva pakhan. He’s emotionally cold, distant and detached due to a horrendous childhood. He believes that feelings are a sign of weakness. They meet when he stops at her bookstore to find a book for a cousin’s daughter. There’s an immediate attraction that they both try to downplay. They each have different reasons to stay away from each other but he keeps finding moments to see her. She knows how dangerous he is, and she’s seen how he can coldly hurt someone, but his good mushy side is shown only to her. Bronwyn eventually sees something that puts her in danger and the only way to stay safe is to marry Radimir. I love the moments when they’re trying to learn more about each other. These two have to work for their well deserved HEA. They navigate their relationship like adults. They have fights, they make up, they compromise, they take care of each other, and they realize they’re stronger together. The steamy scenes are well placed and well written.

Not only is this story one that I’ll likely read again - and I hope Radimir’s brothers get their story as well - I was absolutely delighted that my favorite hot Russian hitman Alexei along with his hacker girlfriend Gabriella both make a big appearance in the last third of the book. Their story is one I’ve read repeatedly. I love how this author includes past characters in her new books. Dual POV, plus hot Alexei gets a couple of his own POV chapters, no cheating, no 3rd act breakup (YAY! I abhor those), just a well written beautiful story with prose that flows so fluidly that you’ll stay up all night to finish it, like I did.

A Thrilling Love Story Between a Mafia Boss and a Book Seller

If you’re a fan of sizzling chemistry, action-packed suspense, and the perfect blend of warmth and danger, this book is an absolute must-read! The story follows the unlikely romance between a cold, ruthless mafia boss (Radimir) and a warm-hearted book seller (Bronwyn). The tension between them is palpable from the very first encounter—when he walks into her bookstore, initially just looking for a book for his cousin, but soon, he can’t seem to get her out of his mind.

Newbury masterfully builds the chemistry between these two characters, creating a dynamic that is both intense and irresistible. While he’s a man of power and danger, she is gentle, compassionate, and unafraid to stand up for herself. Her warmth acts as a balm to his tortured past, while his strength helps her discover her own inner courage, making their bond feel even more real and powerful.

One of the most compelling aspects of this love story is the way Newbury explores their emotional growth. Despite Radimir’s brutal history, Bronwyn manages to melt the ice around his heart, even as she confronts her own struggles, including the weight of her past and disabilities. This dynamic is beautifully written, with each character pushing the other to be their best self.

The action and suspense are woven seamlessly throughout, making the book impossible to put down. From heart-pounding moments to unexpected twists, every page keeps you on the edge of your seat. Whether it’s the constant danger surrounding the mafia world or the deep emotional stakes of the romance, Newbury knows how to keep readers hooked.

As someone who has read nearly every book by Newbury, I can confidently say this is another standout. The combination of intense romance, gripping suspense, and heartfelt character development makes it a true page-turner. I am already eagerly anticipating her next release—if it’s anything like this one, it will undoubtedly be another hit!

“I used to think doing this job meant being on my own. I was wrong: I needed you by my side. And I used to think it was weak to feel things. Now, I can’t imagine not feeling the things I feel for you.”

It's been years since I read a book from Helena. But after seeing a TikTok about this book and that it was mafia, I was sold.

I never thought I'd be hooked, but from the first few chapters I was and I'm not even mad about it. I have so much love for this book.

We start off with Bronwyn, who's the owner of a bookstore and on one snowy day in Chicago in walks, a tall, dark-haired, and handsome man.

Bronwyn suffered loss at a young age, and she's has had heart broken by her ex and after she was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Which really knocked her for six. She was devastated and thinks that because of what's wrong with her, she doesn't think she'll ever have the fairytale she's always dreamed of.

Radimir has had so much happen in his life and endured loss. He's now the mafia boss. He's always been about his world and thinks he deserves to be on his own and not find love. But when he walked into that bookstore that day and saw the copper hair woman, he was drawn to her, which had never happened to him before.

Then, after a few weeks, Bronwyn sees him kill someone, and she runs away... Radimir knows he's screwed. After he's told his brothers and uncle what happened, his brother says, "You've got two options... you have to either kill her because she's seen too much or marry her."

You can guess what option he went with...

This whole book had me swooning a lot, laughing, kicking my feet at sweet parts, getting all emotional, saying holy hell that's hot and then crying sad, then happy tears.

Starting the year with a Helena Newbury novel, is a great way to start it! It was everything I expect in one of her books : suspenseful, steamy, romantic, unexpected and a page turner. I always wanted to know what would happen next and how everything would work out. A surprise appearance of one of my favorite Russians ever, was just a cherry on top.

Radimir is ruthless, loyal, strong, bossy, protective and smart. He is part of the Russian mafia and he does everything for them, even kill. He listens to them. His brothers are also part of it. His brothers are his world, I love their strong band. Because of his job and his past, Radimir doesn’t want a relationship. It has been long since he has known love. Something is different with Bronwyn. Radimir wants to do things for her or feels things he hasn’t felt before. When Bronwyn is in danger, nothing can stop him from protecting her.

Bronwyn is sweet, kind-hearted, hardworking and loyal. She loves her bookshop and does everything to make it work, even though isn’t easy and a lot of work. Bronwyn has so many struggles, but she keeps on fighting. I’m glad that she has a good friend and a sweet grandma. She’s someone you can’t help but root for. I wanted her to find love and pure happiness.

Radimir and Bronwyn are an unexpected couple. Their worlds shouldn’t have crossed, but they keep colliding. The chemistry is there from the start. They can’t stop thinking about each other. When they finally give in, it’s super hot. They will have their struggles, but become strong and inseparable. A beautiful, powerful couple.

Radimir and Bronwyn bring suspense, emotion and steam.

Frozen Heart is my new favorite book by Helena Newbury. I was spellbound from the beginning and couldn’t put this book down. I loved the thrilling action, suspense, and the emotion generated in this story. The extraordinary character growth for Radimir, from cold ‘frozen’ hearted Bratva Pahkan, to a wonderfully warm and loving man with Bronwyn. He’s feared and willing to do anything to protect his family, even k!ll, and most people give him a wide berth. Bronwyn owns a struggling bookstore. She’s smart, sassy, and a bit self-conscious, but has delightful friends. She shows Radimir (and his brothers) that feeling and loving aren’t weaknesses, but a path to becoming stronger. Radimir and Bronwyn generate plenty of wonderful steam, and I need a new Kindle, this one melted. I loved how deeply Radimir fell for Bronwyn and how she became his center.

Helena Newbury brought these dynamic characters to life, gave them well-developed personalities, pasts that haunt them, and the courage to move forward. I hope there will be more of the Aristov family to come. I definitely want to see his brothers Gennaidy and Valentin, and even his uncle Mikhail have their happy endings too. I liked the quirky side characters, Boxley, the bomb expert, and Bronwyn’s friends Sadi, Luna, and Jen. Of course, catching up with old favorites like Alexi and Konstantin is gratifying and I enjoyed seeing them again. I’m excited for more of the Aristovs and this Bratva world.
