American Assassination: The Strange Death of Senator Paul Wellstone

Rate this book
"Ten days before his anticipated re-election, Senator Paul Wellstone was killed in the mysterious crash of his small aircraft. To this day, the public mourns the loss. Some harbor suspicions. Some remember how the media blamed the weather." In American Assassination, two Ph.D. Professors, James Fetzer and Don "Four Arrows" Jacobs, prove that the weather did not kill Senator Wellstone, his wife and child, on that morning in October. Nor were the two pilots incompetent, as per the later claims of the bumbling National Transportation Safety Board. With a scientific investigation, logical analysis, and a ruthless dismantling of the official story, American Assassination confirms the worst fears of a nation: Senator Paul Wellstone was murdered.

The authors marshal substantial evidence placing in doubt the official NTSB report that the crash which killed Paul Wellstone resulted from pilot error. Besides curious details regarding the crash itself and major gaps in the official report, the authors show that Wellstone's political opponents had ample motive to bring him down. This is one more political death in the U.S.A. that merits official review by a truly independent panel.

If you’re into conspiracy theories this book is a must read. If you’re not, skip it. The authors fully believe they have created an airtight case that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Paul Wellstone was assassinated. I take issue with that claim, but, I do appreciate how thorough and consistent they were in shaping the argument.

This book is a little on the conspiracy theorist side of things but if half of what the authors say here is true (and it most likely is) then I am really concerned over the scary power some people in this country have. To be filed under bathroom books because you will shit your pants.

This seems like a well researched book and provides interesting theories, but the writing style and structure of the book left me confused and agitated. Lots of needless repetition, disorganized chronology, lack of chronology and rambling explanation. I read it in pieces and that was interesting enough and I got the point.

Hard not to believe that the very popular Minnesota senator's plane was shot down by sophisticated weaponry. Al Franken got his seat, then got shot down, albeit a little differently.
