A Pawn in a Game I Didn’t Know I Was Playing

I almost bought into the lies I was told. I thought I could build a life for myself in Canyon Falls and accept the rules of their secret society, in exchange for the loyalty they offered.

I was wrong. Accepting their offer put a bigger target on my back.

I’ve chosen to walk back through the halls of Canyon Falls University, and have reclaimed my place in The League of the Daggered Raven, for the sole purpose of enacting my revenge.

But, there’s no way I can win this fight on my own.

To take them down, I’ll have to trust the very men who’ve proven they can’t be trusted. The Trium offers up apologies to earn my forgiveness, when I’d rather have their misery instead. The first rule of survival is using whatever resources you can get your hands on.

So, I’ll use them, the way they used me.

The League Disappoints. The Council Betrays. Bonds will be severed and forsaken.

Ready or Not, There Will Be a Change.

Dakota Lee is an overworked mom of three human garbage disposals and a dog who thinks she’s a wolf.

In the daylight, she loves paranormal/ supernatural books and tv shows, comic book movies, action movies, and the comfort of a good Hallmark movie.

When the sun goes down, she’s been known to tune into some after dark deliciousness that she would never tell her co-workers about.

She’s here to push boundaries through her words and hopefully take you on a twisty, thorny journey on the way to a happily ever after.

And if you happen to fall for the asshole before he’s redeemed, that’s okay.

Dakota’s got a weakness for the bad boys too.

I’m really disappointed with the ending. So basically the doctor and Lazarus escaped. No consequences for Eloise and we don’t hear what happens to lj’s boyfriend, they are planning a revenge for his cousin but that does not happen in the book. Pax’s mom and dad can still roam freely because they are under investigation. So no revenge on anybody.

Also Thea really irritated me. Because she came back with trauma and I get that but why is she blaming Holden and Finn when they did nothing ??? She is basically telling them to fuck off the entire book and in the end they suddenly all live together.

NOPE.

This is getting docked a LOT of stars because WTF was that ending? Where is the punishment for Eloise, Daddy Cox and all the other fuckers that basically had the FMC SA'd, tortured and almost killed MULTIPLE times!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO. ELOISE does NOT get to just go on living her life like she's not a conniving fucking CUNT. Yes. C word and everything because that is what that bitch was the entire series. And Pax's dad? His mom? They just get to 'not leave the state' because they're under investigation?!

I have never felt SO disappointed in the ending of a series as I am with this one. ALLLLLLLL those pages and NONE of them held an amazing END to the bullshit our FMC went through. She was rescued and pieced back together and sent back to Canyon Falls with a LIST for REVENGE. WE NEVER SEE THE FUCKING REVENGE. It's all 'administrative' revenge or 'whelp, she got herself out of proper punishment, golly gee willikers, guess we better just move on.'

This could have been a damn duet to get that lame ass ending. And speaking of ending... it was abrupt, barely really gave us a glimpse into the HEA with her and her guys (okay they move into together... that's it?).

GOD I am so FUCKING pissed that this author didn't give that CUNT Eloise, especially, a proper send off. If she couldn't kill her off, she should have been locked up for her part in trying to have the FMC murdered multiple times, for the REST of damn her life OR thrown into one of those HORRBILE League facilities. Same with Pax's mother and father. The WHOLE time I was reading this series, one thought kept repeating in my head, "Eloise BETTER get her damn comeuppance at the end of all of this." NOPE. Clearly I'm the only one super pissed off about all this seeing all the 5*s.

HORRIBLE DAMN ENDING. WTF. So pissed I read all those pages to get HERE.

The ONLY positive of the whole series was FINN, the FMC, WOLFE and I'll throw an honorable mention at Holden (I liked his brand of crazy too). That was it. They deserved SO much better than this ending. While I am fine with Pax being in the RH... He has a LOT of making up to do for his roles in a lot of the shit that happened, that we didn't ever get to see either.

Yeah. Horrible. So PISSED.

Canyon Falls

This is the final book of Thea's story, but the author notes she intends to continue writing about the world. All the books in this quad series were quite long and in depth. Honestly they get 5 stars just due to keeping my absolute attention all the way through. Several parts of this book were very disturbing, especially the first 100 pages. I question why authors of this genre always seem to have the FMC kidnapped and abused in the last books. In this case, I actually did skip parts, cause, why? Anyway, the way the after trauma was portrayed seemed quite sensitive and reasonable, but I'm not an expert. I'm sorry though, but I really never could forgive or forget Pax, even at the end. Holden's proclivities are also very strange, making psycho blood play Finn seem mild. Of course Wolfe provides some reality. The bulk of this story line is very "DaVinci Code". I will need to reread it just to figure out all the clues, and who knows what as we go along. I absolutely hated that the last chapters reverted to the first chapters, again why? The ending was also way too quick, and somewhat unbelievable. But that's literary license. A sequel series can hopefully flesh it out. It's very long, but there are still lots of small editorial issues, mostly missing words. Otherwise well written and totally entertaining.

Omg what a fantastic loooonng final book. This book was just chef kiss. There were so many, many thing's that happened in this book, and did I mention long. Phew I think this is the thickest book I've ever read, but I can't stop singing this arthurs storytelling, imagination skills.

This picks up from where the shocking cliffhanger left off at, and boy did it not stop. I'm not giving anything away you'll just have to read it if you've been reading the series you don't want to skip this final book, so many secrets, so many lies and the unveiling of these secrets was shocking enough, but that's just the tip of the iceberg as we wait to find out what this arthur has coming for us next in this world she's created, because there's so many thing's that are left unsaid like the evil in the League who think they've gotten away with thing's.

highly recommend ❤️

overall a really good series … minimal grammar/ spelling/ word mistakes which is impressive … the only thing (for me ) stopping it from being great … is for a supposedly “intelligent” group of people they do really stupid things instead of talking to each other … I know it’s to move the story line along … but a few times it was frustrating to the point I wanted to give up … but very glad I didn’t as I love how the author interwove so many different aspects

on a more positive note .. the 4 MMCs are interesting individuals …especially Finn who’s like a happy stabby puppy dog

if you enjoy an immersive story line that moves long nicely … has some great characters and plenty of 🔥 …then I highly recommend this series

Let me just start of by saying, I completely love this Author’s writing style! This one is a lengthy one that you will have a hard time putting it down! That’s how incredible this final book is with Thea and the guys. Just loved it so much! Like the other books in this series it will have your head spinning with everything that happened and revealed! Can’t wait to see what’s to come from this Author!

Another amazing book from Dakota. I have absolutely loved the story of Thea and her 4 lovers - Deacon, Finn, Holden and Pax.

They all bring something different to the table and have been rooting for Pax to show her how he truly feels.

Thea went through a lot over this series but always comes out winning and love how they all have her back.

Would love LJ to get her own story as feel there is more of her story we don’t know.

Absolutely fantastic ending to the series so many moving parts that came together in such a spectacular fashion. So much shock and omg. A genuinely realistic depiction of someone with trauma rather than just carrying on as nothing every happened. Making the guys WORK for it and them just ignoring her trying to break up with them. It was just fabulous.

I’m not sure if I could ever love another series as much as this one! The characters flow so well together and every book brings something new while tying each book together. I love the vastly different personalities of the guys and Thea works so well with each of them. It’s a must read series if you love Dark Romance
