A game of witches and spells…and thirteen magical bones.
I’m back in Dearmont, and confused as hell. The world I left behind was on the brink of an apocalypse but now it’s business as usual. New case, new mystery, new danger. Sounds fun, right?
When a mega-rich guy with a penchant for occult relics creates a televised competition to find thirteen magical bones, I’m all in. I have to win this thing to make sure the supernatural equivalent of a nuclear bomb doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
I’m not the only contestant in this game of bones. My teammates consist of hunters, a guy whose music can kill, and a woman with strange powers.
If I’m going to pull this off, I’m gonna need to dig deep and use every resource I have.
Thirteen Bones is the latest book in the bestselling Harbinger P.I. series.
I'm genuinely not sure exactly how I feel about this book.
I enjoy the style and the characters, and it's a return to the format of story that I enjoyed about the series compaired to the last entry, but there are definatley things that I felt didn't work for me.
There were two main issues that I had:
In summary: an easily and generally enjoyable read but had elements that interfered with that enjoyment.
Let me start off by saying that I really enjoy this author. And I’ve also enjoyed the series. However, this seems like a throwaway book. Extremely dull, no major backstory outside of one or two chapters. It was a quick read, but I was completely unimpressed, and this was not up to par with his authors previous books. Sorely disappointed.
It was great getting to read another of the Harbinger PI books. Loved getting to read what happened after Alec returned from purgatory. I look forward to the next book (and I really hope there is a next book).
This read more like the his at the start of the series. If the series continues, i hope it continues with similar stories. A nice mix of supernatural, greed, heroic and not so heroic actions, along with some character development.
I have loved this series. The twists and turns were creative and original. I was often still trying to solve the case as I neared the end of the novel. I truly hope this is not the end of the series.
