Welcome to the land of Khakee, where common sense sometimes goes on vacation, and chaos runs the show! From eccentric DIGs who turn inspections into fun rituals to a Commissioner doing squats in dhoti for better digestion, police stations are never short of action. When a 'bomb' turns out to be the abandoned work of a thief, it's not the bag that explodes - it's the author, with laughter! When faced with a ferocious dog, the officer's strategy of dodging furniture ends in a classic comedy of errors - and a few bite marks. Written from years of experience, Comedy in Khakee is a unique insight into the daily experiences of a police officer. Light-hearted and engaging, it provides a much-needed break from the often serious nature of law enforcement, mixing it with humour. A refreshing take that reminds readers that even in the toughest jobs, there's always room for a good laugh.
The first thing about the book that captured my attention was its title “Comedy in Khakee”. We rarely see comedy and khakee in a same sentence. So this was new to me.
This is a collection of short stories by an IPS officer from his own life. There are all kinds of incidents in a police officer’s career but the author chose to focus on the hilarious events happening at his job. I appreciate this positive outlook towards life.
I picked this book only because I have never read humorous episodes from a law enforcement officer. And I’m glad to say that this book exceeded my expectations. A profession which is seen as serious and sometimes dark can have rib tickling moments, was a welcoming take.
It is a fun-filled and light hearted book. Language is easy. Pace is good. It is quite engrossing and can be finished in one sitting. Author has done a remarkable job in capturing the cheerful happenings and weaving them in an equally remarkable book.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It is a quite unique read. Different from my usual murder mysteries. It can be read on a cozy weekend afternoon or in between your heavy reads.
Highly recommend!! You will be laughing all the time. Go for it.
"Comedy in Khakee by Prakash Mishra." It is a fun and entertaining book that gives a humorous look into the life of an IPS officer. Shri Prakash Mishra shares real-life stories from his journey, starting from childhood to his experiences in the police service. Unlike the usual serious police stories, this book is filled with wit and lighthearted moments. The writing is simple, engaging, and full of humor. The author cleverly highlights the challenges and flaws in the policing system through funny incidents, making the book both amusing and thought-provoking. One of the most interesting parts is a chapter about a police dog, adding a unique touch.
Overall, this book is a refreshing and enjoyable read. If you love humorous real-life stories, this book is a great pick.
Humour makes life fun and easy - Author Prakash adopted it from his childhood and never let it go. Here he shares many of the incidents that made his life fun. Be it his friend who innocently believed , as whispered by him, who Akbar was, or be it his stint in the police force where the inspection officer had too much chilli, the judge who was jailed for traffic violation, the director who could not ride but loved to wear breeches. He has one section that involves incidents with dogs too. A book that will take all your stress away!!
such a funny book!! the writing is genuinely engaging, and did manage to keep a smile on my face the whole time, also making me laugh out loud a few times as well.
