Every deal has fine print. This one is written in blood.

Still reeling from a devastating cyber attack on their law firm, husband-and-wife defense attorneys Hal and Kristina Nolan can't afford to turn down a case—even one that comes with strings attached. When billionaire hedge fund manager Gavin Brantley offers to bankroll their defense of a janitor accused of murder, the Nolans jump at the opportunity to rebuild their crumbling empire.

But nothing about the case is what it seems. As the unorthodox Hal and by-the-book Kristina dig deeper, they discover they're pawns in a dangerous game where everyone has secrets—Brantley, their client, the victim, and even the prosecutor. With FBI agents breathing down their necks and their moral boundaries pushed to breaking, the Nolans must decide whether winning this case is worth the price of their ethics, their marriage, and possibly their lives.

In this gritty follow-up to THE LEGAL LIMIT, Hal and Kristina must decide how far they'll go. From explosive courtroom confrontations to deadly backroom deals, they'll discover that in the world of Philadelphia criminal law, every contract has its price, and behind every deal lurks a devil.

I received this ALC from High Gravity Productions

After how much I enjoyed The Legal Limit, I was excited to jump back in with Hal and Kristina, and once again, they were easily my favorite part of the story. They’re such a great duo, and I love how well they work together both personally and professionally.

While I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the first book, I was still invested in the case and wanted to see where the story was going. The ending definitely left me wanting book three immediately.

The audiobook single narration was fantastic once again. Neil Hellegers did an excellent job bringing the story and characters to life, and the pacing kept me engaged throughout.

I’d recommend it to listeners who enjoy legal thrillers, crime procedurals, competent adult characters, and strong relationship dynamics.

Received this audiobook from High Gravity Productions.

Book 2 of the Hal and Kristina Nolan series was just as good as the first book. The team was continuously faced with challenges in their case that kept the momentum going. Against insurmountable odds, they continued to work together to find the best solutions, even if that meant putting themselves at risk. I really liked how we got more of Lena's backstory and how she played a much larger role in this book. This ends on a big cliffhanger that will no doubt lead into book 3, which I plan on listening to when it is available. Once again, Neil Hellegers did a fantastic job narrating that really brought each character to life.

Hal and Kristina are struggling to get their legal firm back on track after a cyber hack that left them broke and with few options. Just as things are staring to turn around they are hit gain. They take on a case, despite possible conflicts of interest, because they are desperate. Just when it looks like all is lost..again.. they manage to pull a rabbit out of the hat. This is a great legal thriller with a few twists and a thread at the end that will lead to a new book. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Mr. Winters has managed to outdo himself with this series. The Nolans are such a fun, unpredictable pair of characters. They make it difficult to put the book down, you never know what might happen next. I especially liked the nod to Jessie Black in this one. Pays to know the right people, for sure.
5 stars are just not enough for this one.
I highly recommend it!

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with the Nolans in a high price restaurant where they hope to convince Gavin Brantley, a hedge fund owner, to hire them. Things do not go well as Hal offered to pick up Gavin's party's bill, but the credit card was refused and Kristina's was no good either. It seems that they were hacked once again. They later had a 2nd opportunity when Gavin contacted them to meet with him. Thinking that they had an opportunity to handle his SEC issue, they instead were asked to defend Nico, a janitor who worked for Gavin, for murder. They eventually agreed aand once thet were told why, they needed to decide.

Sam, a prosecutor in the D.A.'s office, was told that her opponent would be a public defender and there would be a deal made. When Nico was brought to be arraigned, she discovered that the Nolans were the lawyers for Nico. Sam then did everything she could to keep that fact from her boss. If he learned, then she would be replaced. As the trial date came closer, another party butted in.

Read along and learn what steps Hal and Kristina had to take to defend Nico, what was behind Gavin's reason, why Sam needed to work the case and how things worked out in the end, then read this book. It is well worth it and you won't be sorry.

In the second book of the gritty Hal and Kristina Nolan legal thrillers series, author Larry Winters digs deeper into the underbelly of Philadelphia with a case that challenges even the Nolans’s willingness to bend the rules to protect a client. The Nolan’s are a winning couple in terms of their appeal as protagonists. Winters plays them off one another brilliantly, with the tension between their contrasting styles and ethical boundaries adding a refreshing layer of uncertainty as to what our lead characters might be willing to do. In representing a janitor accused of murder whose defense team is being paid by the defendant’s wealthy employer, they find themselves in a house of mirrors as they encounter one secret after another. Most everyone’s motivations and potential guilt are called into question along the way. Winters once again delivers compelling characters, taut writing, and plenty of twists and turns as we race to an exciting conclusion. Larry is definitely one of my go-to authors when I’m in the mood to read an outstanding legal thriller.

Narrated by Neil Hellegers, this legal thriller completely pulled me in. The story is fast-paced, filled with clever twists, and keeps the suspense building from beginning to end. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the plot took another unexpected turn.

This is the second book in the series, and the author continues to deliver an engaging, well-crafted legal thriller with compelling characters and plenty of courtroom tension. Neil Hellegers’ narration adds even more intensity, bringing the story to life with a performance that keeps you invested every step of the way.

If you’re a fan of smart, twisty legal thrillers that keep you guessing, I highly recommend this series. Both books have been fantastic, and I’m already looking forward to the next installment.

Wheeling-Dealing to stay ahead…

I was an avid fan of Perry Mason when I was young. So, give me a good mystery, a compelling trial with legal shenanigans and I’m in. A very timely story given what the FBI is up to lately. Hal and Kristina Nolan won’t be intimidated despite not always being on the same page. They balance each other and are combined in seeking truth. Great characters and plenty of action will keep you tuned in to the unfolding drama of navigating through the mire of conflicting motivations in solving this crime – everyone has an angle…I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read and offer my honest and voluntary review.

Wow, what an enigmatic case Nolans had to solve this time. Author really proved his amazing talent with his thrilling court drama. I enjoy Hal and Kristina’s banter, witty and dare decisions. I’m excited about this series, as Nolans are truly special and amazing characters. They never give up. This time , facing the bankruptcy the second time, prosecutor, that does not play fair and the case, that is not only twisty , but very dangerous to them personally, they manage to score and lose at the same time. This is the fast paced thriller with the unique plot and omg what a cliff hanger at the end!!!! Don’t miss this thriller extraordinaire! I could not stop reading.

good, not so good deal

Well Hal and Kristina had some good breaks but also some bad breaks I this book. They’re still not back up to their Center City lavis law office but they’re doing better. They take on a murder case that the client says he’s innocent financed by his millionaire boss. Wrap that around your head. The book is well written, plot is pretty good, the prosecutor is a great character, and surprises do happen. Now it’s your turn to read the book. It’s fun, dramatic, some humor and twisty.

Welcome back to Philadelphia and the Nolans. Their financial situation has improved a little. Hal and Kristina are defending a man accused of killing his wife. There are many twists and turns, suspense, intrigue and secrets. Who is guilty?
The solo narration by Neil Hellegers was extraordinary. Once again, he portrayed these characters perfectly. I highly recommend listening to this fabulous audiobook.
Thanks to the author and High Gravity Productions for this ALC.

* Audiobook *

Hal & Kristina are still picking up the pieces from book 1 when a shot at landing a billionaire client falls through — and turns into a murder case instead with more twists than a pretzel.

This case also puts some real strain on their marriage. Hal wanted to be Hal and do things his way. And Kristina wanted to be more cautious and fallow the law to a T.

I was SO sure I had it figured out. Wrong.

The narrator, Neil Hellegers keeps the narration consistent and just as good as book 1.

Hal and Christina are not your normal lawyers

A married couple whose law practice has been hacked, their bank accounts stolen by a lady with a serious grudge are trying to manage their lives with no money and an entire city law enforcement that hates them. What could possibly go right? You have to read these books to see.

You will LOVE this series

Winters has written the BEST legal thriller seres EVER!
Hal and Kristina are the legal team anyone would need! I love the way she tries to get Hal under control and using her expert knowledge of the law to do so! Hal is a renegade, but the best at presenting the case at hand! Much to Kristina’s dismay
One fun read! Looking forward to book 3.

definitely keeps the excitement going!

Hal and Kristina, the min characters, are very hard to like as they skim the borders of the law. You can’t help but like them anyway as they work tirelessly for their client.

Another highly entertaining read from Mr. Winters. My only negative
response is about Hal Nolan; he was so obnoxious and childish he was barely
tolerable. I'll read #3 and hope he is not so unlikable.
