Sorry didn't work for me.
I wanted to love it so badly too..but some choices of the characters were things I could never get past. I did love the sweet I parts..friends and kids..those were great. Loved the ending..very sentimental. Just had issues with the Hero..badly.

I literally just put this book down, and I picked up my laptop. I love it when I read a book that touches me like that. One that compels me to go right to my computer and write a review. This is Jaime Whitley's first solo novel and my first time reading her work. I am in awe of her talent and the story that she told.

I can't get over the twists that this book took. Just when I thought everything was going good, I looked at my counter on my Kindle and said to myself, "Crap. There is too much time left, somethings going to happen." I love it when a book sucks me in and I lose myself in it. Time flew by and at the end, I was crying at the beautiful book I just finished.

Silas is my perfect book boyfriend. Military, turned Police Detective. All Alpha, but with a sweet, tender side. I instantly loved him, but had trouble liking him at times. I was torn right along with him. The struggles he faced were heart wrenching.

Lilly and her friend Megan are funny. I love the banter between them. I really liked Lilly. I loved her character as a whole.

I really don't want to spoil this book in any way for you. I can tell you this, just when you think you have it all figured out. Guess again! It's an intense, dramatic and amazing ride that Jaime takes you on and I'm so glad I took it.

Silas and Lilly meet in an airport through coincidence. He's traveling through the Army and she's out and about on business. There's an immediate connection that draws them into one another, yet all they're looking for is a night with no strings attached....or so they thought.

It's hard to forget that one person that no one else can live up to.

As time passes their lives move on, but fate takes over and throws them one too many twists. Will their connection be strong enough to pull them in the right direction, or will their lives tear them apart?

Wow, once I started this story I couldn't put it down. I seriously read it in a day...it was that amazing. A story of true fate, love that is meant to be and a refreshing reminder that there really is that one person out there for everyone.

I love the way the author brings the reader into the emotional attachment of her characters. I found myself laughing at their humor and wanting to punch a certain someone a time or two.

This is a must read....love me some Jaime Whitley :)

Twist of Fate touched me.

Silas and Lilly are both relatable characters and the situations they faced were all too real.

My emotions were involved, and in more than one instance, my gut was clenching as I read through the scenes.

A chance encounter with life long consequences and the rollercoaster ride of navigating real life is covered in this book.

I laughed. I cried. I might have wanted to punch Silas and shake Lilly on a few occasions, but through it all I was pulling for this couple.

I loved the supporting characters as well and I'll be looking for more from them in future books!

Highly recommend.

Twist of Fate is my first read by Jamie. I have to say like others I couldn't and didn't want to put it down.
She had me the minute Silas sat down at the airport. Silas in the ARMY on his way home for R&R runs into Lilly while she is waiting for her flight. Come to find out they are on the same flight sitting next to each other. Silas helps Lilly and her nerves while flying. When they reach their next destination they find out flights have been canceled. Silas being the man he is get a hotel room and shares with Lilly. Wait for it, wait for it.....He wants to kiss her, he wants more than a kiss. They agree on a one night stand no strings attached. OMG!! I mean who hasn't had a one night stand? This one night stand though will forever change their lives.
They go their separate ways. Years later they bump into each other. It is like sparks fly all over again. However Silas has a girlfriend Kristen.Yeah not an ideal situation. The one you let walk away and your girlfriend.
Silas tries to talk to Lilly on more than one occasion. Lilly manages to give him the slip right when something very important needs to be said.
One thing about having your one night stand that you couldn't forget and your girlfriend in the same area secrets fly. Things are said that hurt Kristen. Things that eventually end their relationship.
There was a part where I was screaming "no, no, no tell it isn't so, tel me it can't be?" I had to finish this book. I had to see what happened. I wanted to know does Lilly and Silas make it? Jamie sure does know how to keep you on your toes I tell you that much. You want answers to my questions too? Go get your copy today.

I like the story... a lot.. but I found myself skipping a few times, coz I wanted to read the good and exciting part. I love stories like this, complicated relationship, etc.

I like the characters and the story. I kind of didn't like how good and understanding she is towards his ex, though it would have been better if the ex was a bitch and I would have loved it more if it was prolonged.

This book sounded perfect for me. The cover is beautiful and I had no doubt that I'd love it.

I need to learn not to judge a book by it's cover.

I'm only 50% in and I'm calling it as a DNF. The story has potential; a ton of potential. BUT, the writing is a mess. It feels rushed and there are no real descriptions. The flight didn't even last half a page, and by the next they'd eaten dinner, gone to the bar, and were back in the hotel kissing.

I don't read for someone to tell me the story. I read so I can experience the characters myself. Explain to me what Lilly was feeling. Show me how much Silas wants her. But, don't give me a single sentence and call it good.
Disappointed to say the least.

I love when a book grabs your attention and will not let you put it down until you are finished. For me that Twist of fate. You have a story of two people passing through an airport that happen to meet by fate, and when their flights get delayed for a night, what better thing to do than get to know each other and have some drinks and a one night stand. Well what happens when the person you have a one night stand with is the one person you measure everyone else to in the future. But fast forward 3 years and they meet again. They still have that chemistry that they first had, but with different lives and some secrets that are reveled, Jamie Whitley gives you a great romance story mixed with some comedy and heartache and rolls it into one terrific ending.

I was excited to read this one because again being a book cover whore than on top Jaime is my friend, I knew I would just love it.. And I did.

Why the 4 star than if I loved it? Well even thou I loved it didn't make me think about it the next day. It had a great story line and the idea of getting 2nd chances was awesome! The only thing that thru me was the names of the characters .. Silas was a name that I never heard of and the sons name Ezra... But that makes this book unique .. Anyways so the book, great hot sex and HEA all built into one .. You will enjoy the hot chemistry of the two main characters the supporting characters were great and I wish I had a BF like Lilly has.

holy hotness! I was so infatuated by this book that I literally read it until the wee hours of the night, or should I say morning? Lilly, smart, a little bit witty and sexy as hell had me cheering for her happiness, even with her silly mistakes. the sexiness that is Silas had me begging for more. and honestly, who could refuse the hotness of a man in uniform? hello?! no one!! this love story is so amazingly amazing that I don't think my eyes could have shed anymore happy tears by the end. I wanted this book to go on forever but all good things come to an end right?

Lily lets her guard down for a fun one night stand only to end up with the greatest gift of her life. Silas is on his way back from some R & R and isn't looking for anything serious.

Fast forward three years - what happens when the one night stand you can't forget about shows up with his girlfriend at your book signing? How do you begin to tell him about the greatest gift you've ever gotten that was a result of the one night of passion? What happens when you both realize that those feelings haven't gone away?

LOVED this book!!!

This is a very, very good book. It is emotional and well written. I got so into the story that at one point I wanted to slug Silas!! (When you read it you will understand.) Let's just say that the path of love is seldom straight.
I love the characters. Even the secondary characters are great! I love Megan, Declan, and Joe. They stand by Lily and make her laugh. What more could you ask from friends?
Be sure to give this book a try. You won't be sorry!

4 Angsty Stars

Review by Jen Hagen
Tattoed bad boys, rock stars, motorcycle men, and one-night stand babies – those are a few of my favorite things, and included in this book is one of those. Can you guess which one??

Lilly and Silas meet while waiting for their flights. The flights end up being cancelled for the night due a storm and Silas manages to get a hotel room for the two of them . They both agree to one night of sex with no phone numbers and no last names exchanged. Both feel an incredible connection between each other but neither of them voices it before Lilly slips out early in the morning. Three years later and they still remember how well they fit together and the memory is too good to let go. Of course there is something else that is a daily reminder of their time together.

I will never regret the one and only one-night stand in my life, because it allowed me to be in this moment right here and now.

Lilly and Silas have a chance encounter that leaves them both speechless. They each have on a poker face making it appear very real that they have never set eyes on each before this day. No one would ever be the wiser in thinking that these two can’t forget about their one night together.

I’m silently freaking out at the fact that the only man I ever felt a connection with just walked back into my life with his girlfriend on his arm.

Yes, you read that correctly…Silas has a girlfriend. Kristin and Silas have been dating for a while but Silas has never wanted to commit to anything that resembles a future as husband and wife. He loves Kristin but when the truth comes out he can’t lie to Kristin…"No one has ever measured up to her.” Well if that didn’t pretty much decide their future, or non-future together, the next bit of news Kristin receives will have her running to the hills.

Fate allowed Silas and Lilly to reconnect, but sometimes fate changes its plans and wants you to make decisions on your own. This will definitely put Silas to the test…and if I were to grade him I would have to fail him for the poor decisions he made. Silas has to choose between the present and the future, and instead of trying to balance both of them he makes one of them a precedent and I didn’t agree with it. Of course, it wasn’t me having to choose but there had to have been a better way for him to handle it.

Lilly makes a decision for herself in order to protect what she holds nearest and dearest to her heart.

“I don’t want you to fight for me. There’s nothing to fight for.”

Silas had everything and now he has nothing. Will he follow Lilly’s directions to stay away from her, or will he find his balls and stand up for what he wants?

I needed Silas to grovel and fight for Lilly at this point. He was too soft when it came down to the wire of being there for Lilly, and a couple times he went to Kristin’s beck and call when he should have been with Lilly. This infuriated me, but yet it brought out wonderful angst. I’m an angst addict. Even though you will want to throw your Kindle and be mad, you will find yourself right back at the story because the angst is pulling you in. I found Silas to be a good guy, but fate was really messing up his life and he didn’t know how to handle what he was being thrown. For being 29 years old, Silas still wasn’t mature when it came to making the correct decisions. I don’t want to say he thought only of himself, but he just couldn’t find the balance between the heavy loads he was carrying.

I really did feel sorry for him, and maybe I’m just too soft of a person to forgive him so easily. If you are not a fan of having to choose which girl deserves his attention, then this book isn’t for you. But if you are a lover of angst (such as I am) then I would give this book a try.

Twist of Fate was a great read! I would give it a solid 4 stars. This is a book about a one night stand that will change the lives of both the characters in a blink of an eye. It does have an HEA which I am forever thankful for because we all know how much I love cliffys :). It is told in dual POV's and is a standalone novel.

Silas and Lilly meet at an airport when they both are waiting for there flight. There is an instant spark and neither one knows how to handle it. When there flight gets delayed they find themselves going to a hotel and having a crazy one-night-stand. They part not knowing each others last names so no chance of them ever meeting again.... but of course with a Twist Of Fate there lives will collide 3 years later when Silas's girlfriend goes to a book signing that he so happens to tag along with and to his surprise the author is Lilly. Lilly is totally stunned and they both act like they don't know each other, but is this her chance to finally reconnect with someone that changed her life in a huge way and he doesn't even know about it? Or is it better to keep her secret and not make it any harder on her life than it has been for the past 3 years... But little does Lilly know Silas has thought about her constantly and wants to know her more even though he doesn't know her secret. When the secret is revealed can they move on from one another or is the pull they had the first time they met to strong. Can Silas stay with his current girlfriend or will he give up his safe and happy relationship to try with Lilly? Or will Fate rear its ugly head again and twist there lives even more??

This book will warm your heart in so many ways , and then you will get quite a few twists that will sadden your heart as well. This is the first book I have read by this author but I look forward to much more and hopefully soon! Thanks for a great read Jaime Whitley!

Here are some lines from the book that I found note worthy:

Silas:
"I'm ok with whatever you're okay with. This doesn't have to happen if you don't want it to. No pressure. Like I said, I will happily take the couch. I'm hoping you don't make me take the couch though Lilly, because there is something about you that makes me want to know all of you. I want to explore every inch of your body and see what makes you quiver."

Lilly:
I felt such a deep connection with him, one I never felt before with anyone. Our bodies moved in perfect sync together, like we've done this everyday for the last five years. The way my body ignited with every single touch of his made it feel like our souls were connecting. I want to lean over and give him a proper wakening after last night, but I refrain, reminding myself that even though I had the best sex of my life last night, we agreed on a one-night-stand.

Twist of Fate was a story of what was supposed to be a one-night stand turning into something so much more.
Silas and Lily agree to one night together, no phone numbers, no last names and no strings attached but fate had other ideas. Neither of them could have imagined that a few years down the line they would be in each other’s lives again and this time it won’t be easy for them to walk away thanks to that one night’s conception.

“There isn’t much I don’t remember from that night. It was the best night of my life.”

I have to admit that in the last month I have read at least 2 books with this same story line; man meets woman, man and woman have one great night, years down line man and woman meet again and man realises he has a child. So I’m not sure if I’m being a bit mean because I’ve heard this story line a few times but I just didn’t love it as much as the others I have read. I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it.

“I love this woman and I’m never going to let her go again. She’s ruined me and no one will, or ever can, replace her and I need to make her mine.”

I really liked Silas, he was a great guy who was easily likeable and I did enjoy his character. However I struggled with Lilly, I’m not 100% sure why this was but she just seemed a little insensitive at times towards Silas and the situation, especially during the heart-breaking story line concerning Silas and Kristin. There were great supporting characters such as Ezra, Lucas and Megan. They gave an extra little something to the story and made me smile and laugh a little with their personalities.

“I think I’ve always known deep down that you would come back to me. That’s why Miles and Delilah are so happy together. You’re my Miles.”

The plot (like I’ve mentioned) is something I’ve read a few times recently and although I really enjoy this sort of story, this one just wasn’t one of my favourites. I think for me this story seemed more unbelievable than the others, probably due to how short this book was and the writing didn’t flow great for me. I did really enjoy the part of Lily being an author and the drama and sadness that Silas and Kristin’s part played within the book.

“I can’t promise you a happy ending, because true love never ends.”

Overall it was a okay-good read; there were some good characters and aspects of the plot that I did enjoy. I think this genre is so competitive at the moment and with just a few tweaks to maybe the length of the story to maybe add in more aspects to the plot and working on the characters development a little more, then this author will be on to a winner and will go far with her future work.

Twist of Fate by Jamie Whitley
5 of 5 Stars
Once again, I have picked up a book without reading the synopsis and, therefore, I had no idea what to expect from Twist of Fate aside from the story featuring a hunk with a ton of ink. That alone is a valid reason to crack it open and give it a shot!! I am very glad that I did because I found that this is more similar to a real life situation than most books these days. Two average people meet in an airport, spend the night together, and end up falling for each other even though they vowed to sever all ties once they caught their flights.
Three years pass without contact. Lilly Hughes has been shot into stardom as a bestselling author, thanks to a certain muse that has never left her mind. Silas Harper is a soldier turned detective, loving the adrenaline that accompanies his daily duties. By a sudden twist of fate, they are once again thrown into each other's lives. They are your average, every day people, thrown together in an extremely awkward situation. After a while of talking and a few random encounters, Lilly lets Silas in on a big piece of information about her life-and it turns his world upside down!!!
However Silas tries his damnedest to make up for lost time. This quality is such a rarity in the region in which I live and it melts my heart to see Silas going above and beyond any and all expectations to be the man he needs to be. Of course, it wouldn't be life if there weren't some serious curve balls thrown their way. An ex, some heartbreak, and some major tears all made me crumble a little inside with each passing page. The love is quite evident between these two but sometimes the mind gets in the way of listening to your heart. These two are no exception to this.
I was absolutely hooked very early on in the story. Though I usually prefer a story with very vivid imagery, I found that I enjoyed using my imagination to fill in some blanks. When something serious or urgent arose in the plot, I noticed more than once that my heart would be pounding and I had to stop myself from reading ahead to see what happened next!! That's a rare occurrence for me but it sure happened here!

I really enjoyed reading this story, it was a quick read for me and I flew through it in a few hours.

Lilly and Silas meet at an airport whilst waiting for a flight, they end up sitting together and chat easily throughout the journey. On reaching their lay-over airport they find the flight is cancelled so Silas, ever the gentleman, arranges a hotel room for them for the night. That’s all they have, one night together, one amazing night with no ties. They both agree to one night only, so they part ways never to see each other again….

Cue several years later and Lily is now an author, Silas is a cop. They’ve never set eyes on each other since that night but that doesn’t mean to say that they forgot about it either. They’re resigned to the fact that it wasn’t meant to be, until fate intervenes.

I’m not going to say too much, it isn’t a long book so I don’t want to spoil it, but what I will say is that I loved how they eventually run into each other again! My heart was pounding so loud waiting for them to meet each others’ eyes and realise they were in the same room again! It’s very clear that they still have amazing chemistry between them, and that both of them have never really gotten over that night together.

The course of true love never runs smoothly though, and there are some pretty big obstacles to overcome. Lilly has a secret and Silas isn’t free to pursue a relationship. There were times that I wanted to slap Silas for being so careless with his actions, he blew it on more than one occasion and I wouldn’t have blamed Lilly if she had blown him out once and for all!

It was a little too short for me, there wasn’t much in the way of build up between Lilly and Silas at the beginning. I would have liked to have seen a little more of their airport liaison, to maybe understand why they couldn’t get over that one night, and why they feel like they let ‘the one’ slip away. All in all, it’s a good début from Jaime Whitley, and I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.

Jaime Whitley and I met through our love of reading and our friendship developed from there. I'm pleased to participate in the blog tour for her solo debut novel Twist Of Fate and celebrate with her. I'd read Jaime's co-authored novels The One Left Behind and Shattered Lives Mended Hearts (written as Lena Nicole) and looked forward to what she was going to write on her own. It was easy to recognize her style as she likes to tell a story.

What I liked most about Twist Of Fate was Lilly's devotion to her son. It was a very apparent that he was the most important person in her life and his well-being was her first priority. I liked reading the interactions between the two of them. It was very heartwarming.

I loved that the main character was an author. It was fun to read the bookish parts of her and talking about having signings and meeting her fans. As a reader and blogger, it was easy to imagine being that star-struck fan meeting an author whose books you love. The early book-signing scene was one of my favorites.

After finishing the book, I'm still not sure what I think about Silas. He had me both hot and cold for him, but given his situation I don't know how I would have handled everything that he was going through. (Vague, I know. No spoilers here) Ultimately I wanted to like him because of his attempts to do the right thing. Oh and I liked looking at the hot model on the book's cover because it made it easy to vision him as Silas.

What I wanted more from Twist Of Fate was some more character development. I wanted to know more about Lilly and Silas and who they were as individuals. A lot of their thoughts helped moved the story along, but I wanted to know more about them (which would have connected me emotionally to the characters) and not just what they were going through.

I enjoyed reading Twist Of Fate and am excited for Jaime and her solo debut novel. I look forward to reading what she writes next.
