Tuesday West has always led a charmed childhood—until a tragic accident changes everything.
In an instant, Tuesday’s life is altered when she is left paralyzed from the waist down. What should be a crushing blow, however, does not break her spirit.
Living in the enchanting town of Middle Falls, Oregon—where second chances are not just a possibility but a promise—Tuesday discovers she is uniquely equipped to face every challenge. With an unwavering will and a heart full of determination, she refuses to let her accident define her.
But in a town where time is as fluid as fate itself, Tuesday may have a rare opportunity to rewrite her story. If she knows her future, can she change it?
The Indomitable Lives of Tuesday West is book twenty-two in The Middle Falls Time Travel Series, where the boundaries of time, love, and destiny are forever shifting.
Shawn, reading this book was again a wonder of how many lives does this child go through before getting it right? Her initial anger was well understood, but probably difficult to write. Her second life was way too short, but then we know well why. All the lessons we have to learn takes time. Again you didn't disappoint with this book. And, of course I look forward to the next one. Thanks again for writing them and teaching us readers a better way in the life we have.
I was anxiously waiting on this book then life happened and totally forgot it had been released. Shawn Inmon is an amazing author. Out of the 22 Middle Falls books, I think I only that I really didn't connect with. It's really hard to pick one favorite, but this is definitely up there. This book was so great! Cried plenty of times. Tuesday was dealt a bad hand and made the absolute best of it. I think I'll start from the book one again...
I was bored during the first part of the book. I was rooting for the MC to die already (isn’t that awful?). Then it got better! It was interesting to learn how Tuesday decided to go about each subsequent life. When her wish to be reset before her gymnastics accident was granted, it seemed like a cruel joke. I would have committed suicide after that.
The final chapter ends with Tuesday’s last thought as she’s dying; to find her husband and daughter AGAIN. I found that disturbing! To relive that life, from adolescence, with a disability, rehabilitation, and all the years of school, over and over, sounds like living in hell. It was a departure from the HEA in this book series.
Then, the author saves it in an AFTERWORD.
As well as this book was edited, I want to point out one glaring flaw that the proofreading team missed. “Not this time,” Roland said. “We got you something.” He nodded to a mobility van parked in the handicapped spot. Tuesday gaped. She looked from Roland to Tuesday, to Truman, who was beaming.
It should have read “She looked from Roland to Audrey, to Truman”
Shawn's books never disappoint, but this particular story goes way beyond what I would have ever thought. Having been involved with special needs children for over 43 years I was immediately drawn to a story about an individual who faced a challenging life and this particular story was did it for me. Thanks again Shawn for enriching my life
I thought this was a terrific installment. Inmon created an incredibly difficult situation for Tuesday, as well as for his readers, to navigate. I was in awe Tuesday’s growth, and the recognition that she became a better person as a result of her situation, and not simply in spite of it. This was a touching and emotional story. Tuesday is a character to root for!
I have read all 22 books of the Middle Falls Time Travel series. I have been fascinated with each character who has the opportunity to have a “do-over” life whether it takes only one additional life (Thomas Weaver) or thousands (Michael Hollister). Each character is unique as each story about how they resolve the greatest obstacles to living their best life and making changes to achieve the ultimate success.
Tuesday West is an amazing character as she not only has emotional issues to resolve, she also goes from being an elite athlete to physically disabled prior to a time when accessibility became more ubiquitous. At a young age she must learn that there are more ways to navigate the world than on two healthy legs. After a couple lifetimes of failure “indomitable” truly becomes the adjective that best describes her spirit.
If you haven’t read any of the Middle Falls books I highly recommend them. They are stand alone so you can pick a face (exceptionally illustrated covers) and/or name that appeals to you and dig in. No matter which generation you belong to (boomer here) the nostalgia will blow you away.
I always enjoy these books and this is no exception - though not among the best in this long running series - the authors lack of research about gymnastics shows up via several glaring and strange misconceptions on how this world works.
There are four lives for Tuesday West, whose dreams of making the US Olympic Gymnastic Team end repeatedly at age 13. She goes through all the stages of grief as a paraplegia, and is tenacious in making her life the best it can be—even making it a great life, both personally and professionally.
Lots of lessons for all of us! And lots of tears too!
Ive read the whole series now and throughout the book I was thinking I was not enjoying it. But the story progressed in a daring way and is made stronger by Tuesday not getting a second chance without being paralyzed. Well done and a great read.
It was a fascinating book loaded with surprises. I bought a copy for my wife. Inmon offers a positive message about resilience in terrible circumstances.
But then I remembered, It will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it’s not the end.”and you were forgiven. That’s all I’m going to say about that! But the book came to life. I cared about each of the characters. I left feeling like, this was well written, and an emotional story. Yet another successful Middle Falls story!
Another great Middle Falls story I always feel bereft when they end. These stories always make me smile & cry, brilliantly written as always, well done Shawn on another fantastic book, I can’t wait for the next one.
Another heartwarming story from Mr Inmon. Loved the differently abled angle for the main character. Hopefully we keep these books coming. Highly recommended.
I found it hard to rate this book, as it is not my favourite. The series is an outstanding five stars rating no doubt about that, but just not liking this one as much as the others. Still you can't win them all, and will definitely be reading the next one in the series. A few cameo appearance from previous characters which I always love.
I really didn’t like Tuesday in her first life, but much like the goal from repeating their lives, I got much more invested. There are no bad middle falls books and this continues that belief. Ready for the next one !!
Thank goodness, my copy of this book was a Kindle. It was so tough to put it down, that the Kindle format made it easy to read while doing other things like brushing my teeth!
This has been one of my favourite middle falls books so far.I love the premise of these stories and how different lives can be so different. Shawn is an excellent writer and engaged with his readers through Facebook and I highly recommend reading this entire series.
I’ve allowed something to hold me back for a long time and I recognize myself in Tuesday. I think it takes a heck of a writer to make me recognize myself. Such a great story.
I am finding it difficult to come up with new and creative ways of saying I love this series. In Middle Falls, you can take 300 pages and journey across multiple lifetimes. It’s amazing what gets packed in. As long as Shawn writes, I’ll be here.
Tuesday West is an awesome teenager who becomes a great woman, wife and mother. She’s also an amazing friend to many too. Her eventual husband Dylan Simms is the luckiest man in the world. Great story, several great characters too.
Up until the very end, this was a 5-star book in my mind. The reader was fully invested in Tuesday's life, and Inmon was able to evoke a lot of emotion in Tuesday's struggles. I felt confident that this was going to be in his top 5 Middle Falls books, but with the ending, it dropped a bit. Well worth the read, and afterwards, I'd be curious to see how many people agree that there was an error in the machine's rewinding of her lives.
Spoiler:
While all readers expected that Tuesday would eventually, definitively get her legs back in one of her repeated lives, Inmon chose not to give Tuesday her legs back. I 100% understand why he made that decision, as he explains it in the afterword of the book. He chose not to give Tuesday her legs back…because she was not broken. However, I think Inmon robbed the reader (and Tuesday) of a tremendously moving moment. This book was one of his better ones, so i don't mean to imply that the book fails due to this decision; it does not. I do, however, believe it was a mistake. Inmon, the machine, Charles Weaver, or whoever is controlling Tuesday's lives was able to make the same point that he/it did, and STILL giver Tuesday her legs back eventually. Throughout the whole book, I expected her to eventually get her legs back, while making sure to marry the same man, and adopt the same child. Along the way, she would’ve abandoned volleyball and/or gymnastics, whether because she realized how many more important things there are in the world, or maybe because she now lacked the courage to do the vault after her traumatic experience. Regardless, despite the best of intentions, I think that not giving Tuesday her legs back was a large mistake. Tuesday would’ve still befriended the misfits in that last life, and would’ve gone on to do many amazing things, proving that legs were just a mode of transportation, and not something that defined her (which was the goal of not giving Tuesday her legs back). I just felt like it was a major missed opportunity. This was a 5/5 star book until that fumble, but it was still a great accomplishment. I just feel morally and ethically required to dock my rating of the book by one star due to missing perfect ending.
