Almost a year has passed since the upheaval of the kingdom of Kern. Bree is settling into her new role in the management of the country and learning what it takes to keep things running smoothly, most importantly a sharp wit and a sharper sword. As she establishes herself and works to bring her country back to its former glory, she'll have to face off against old enemies, new enemies, and worse, friends.
A rollicking good time, magic, and interesting characters
Now I want to re-read the first book!
This sequel returns us to a magical setting, and our protagonist who is still learning the full extent of her skills. Bree has a troupe of magick users around her to fight off a very large threat to the nation, but the odds seem insurmountable. And then it gets worse.
I got halfway done and set it aside (life comes at you fast, sometimes), but once I picked it up again, the end just flew by.
If looks like we are set up for a final showdown in the next book. Write faster, Mr. Stanley .. but don't rush. I'd rather wait for the same quality!
