Story 5 stars. Narration 5 stars This was an extremely quick listen for me because I literally could not put it down. It’s the sixth book in this series about a group of wolves(and one cheetah),that forms a new slightly irregular pack. Each member has their own story and this time it was Joy’s turn. Joy has an interesting backstory as she was a successful entertainer in the Breed world. Breed encompasses all supernatural species and are just part of the author’s wonderful world building. All of her books fall under her Breed umbrella whether it’s romance or urban fantasy. Now, Joy’s out of a vocation and out of money and friends except for Salem, her mate? But maybe not so much. A rich and powerful vampire, Atticus, owner of the supper club in town, has a thing for her-which was new for him in his three thousand year existence. Joy has very real problems with vampires so she’s not about to get involved. She has secrets and so does Salem. Secrets that could bring the whole pack misery or even death. It’s not easy to keep secrets in a pack and she’s got some big ones. Once it all comes out, danger comes to town from her past. Joy gets thrown together with Atticus so he can protect her. And the romance was full of so much chemistry and love. I adored these two together and they became my favorite couple making this book my favorite of the series so far. This was full of action and even violence at times. But it was also full of the love between the pack members along with the love within the new couple. I also enjoyed seeing all the characters that have had their own books now, along with others that need theirs. In order to fully appreciate this series, I would start with book one. Bring on the next one!
Narration by Nicole Poole was stellar as always. She has so many voices in her repertoire, both female and male, and they never take me out of the story. She is perfection.
Dark delivers characters you cannot help but fall in love with. Some are flawed, and some like Joy, you want to fill their lives with happiness. While each of the audiobooks in this series share one couple's story, I recommend started from the beginning when this pack was formed. Friendships, couples, enemies and more add depth to your overall experience.
Atticus owns the upscale bar in town, and for months he has had feelings for Joy. But Joy's mated to Salem. Isn't she? When danger comes, Atticus steps in to aid the Arrowhead pack and the tale that unfolds was delicious, heartfelt and all the things I love about this series.
I loved learning Joy's story, her secret and why the pack thought she and Salem were mated. It made me mad and had me wanting to hug her all at the same time. Girl, I got the ice cream. But I loved learning about Atticus even more. Dark has an insane ability to make me swoon and fall for these men of the night. I am looking at you Christian Poe (Mageri series, Crossbreed series). Atticus's back story ripped at my heart and the way he attended to Joy made my toes curl.
The pack is fantastic from the way they work together to protect their own, but others in the shifter community. The banter, support, teasing and acceptance make this found family wonderful From the building suspense to the intense scene that had me crying Dark delivered.
Nicole Poole narrates and brings these characters to life. Both her male and female voices are distinct and from the moment a character speaks, I know who it is. While I am sure these make stellar reads, this fan prefers to listen.
Dannika Dark is a must read author. Her characters are so relatable and u can’t help but fall in love with them. I couldn’t stop reading. Recommend to all
Amazing! Dannika Dark really knows how to make you fall in love with her characters all over again with each new book in a series. The family, the banter, the love is just so good. This book gave me all the feels 🥰 I loved getting to know Joy and Atticus and finding out about both of their pasts. I especially love Taks pack. They have different breeds and personalities, but as long as you're a good person, you have a chance at being accepted.
So this was my least favorite of the Black Arrowhead books. I liked the plot. I liked the MMC. I even liked the FMC, but just not for this book. She came across as very old fashioned due to her being so reserved and worried about being proper, which in turn made her just feel...old. She came across like my grandmother, which kind of ruined parts of this book. I just didn't want to read about grandma being pregnant and getting it on with a 3000 year old vamp. It may be ageist of me, and for that, I apologize if it offends, but it's just how I felt reading it.
And the more I read Virgil, the less and less I like him. Not really looking forward to his, and what looks like Krys's possible book.
From the moment we met Joy and Salem I had a feeling she was carrying a secret. Her backstory is so sad. It was great of Salem to help her, but I never really understood his appeal. Joy is a wonderful person who you just want to give a hug. She is struggling to accept things in her life and not completely sure she will be able to stay in the pack.
Atticus has been alone for a very long time. His backstory was heartbreaking. He is such a nice man and deserves his HEA. When he meets Joy it’s love at first sight, but she’s a mated woman, isn’t she?
This story of two people who are completely different tugs at your heart. It has all the feels. These two have been through so much and when they come together they find their other half.
Tak’s pack shows what it’s truly like to love and support a pack member by supporting Joy and Salem when they learn their secrets and also welcoming Atticus into the fold. They are truly the embodiment of what a found family is. Accepting others with all their flaws and loving and helping them no matter what comes.
I can’t wait to see what’s next with the Arrowhead pack.
I’m absolutely hooked on Dannika Dark’s series! Her characters are always so engaging and likable. As expected, this installment of the Black Arrowhead series was another fantastic read (listen).
Another good addition to the Black Arrowhead Series. I thought that Joy and Atticus were great together. I’m glad we finally found out the truth about Joy and Salem’s relationship as I thought that there was something not quite right with their relationship and after the big reveal it made complete sense why I thought that there was no passion between them, but then I thought that was possibly due to them coming from a different era. Whereas Atticus and Joy have it in spades. I loved seeing Atticus and Joy slowly open up to each other about their pasts and build a strong foundation for love. My heart broke Joy about everything that she’s suffered through and it’s most likely a blessing that he wolf was in charge while she was held captive and experimented on, resulting in a pregnancy so she doesn’t remember anything, whereas the other captives weren’t so lucky.
I also hurt for Atticus and what he lost before he chose to become a vampire all those years ago. I’m glad that he has his second chance at happiness with Joy, violet and the rest of the Black Arrowhead pack. All I can say is that Joy is a lucky woman, as Atticus treats her very well. I’m really looking forward to each of the remaining pack members, Calder included getting their own stories. I wonder if we’ll eventually find out why he’s the way he is. There’s so many characters from the Mageriverse that I’d love their stories like Lennon, Hendrix, Finn, Lucian’s brothers’, Novis, Adam and Sadie and a continuation to Simon and Ella’s Mageri novel Risk as I totally loved them. I’d happily read anything that Dannika decides to write. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, Mageriverse and author to everyone.
I say this every time and I’ll continue to do so with every release, Dannika has outdone herself yet again. While I was excited for Joy’s book, I was also skeptical considering what little we knew about her. I was not prepared for her story. My heart aches for what she’s been through and I love Atticus so much for loving her the way he does. So many surprises in this book and I can’t wait to see who the next book will be about and see what happens with the Black Arrowhead pack next!
3000 years to wait for a mate is a long time but worth it. Having the opportunity to end the laboratory and the killer of your mate and child along with your town at the same time is priceless. Reading this story brought back the previous 5. Loved it. Read in one sitting. Hugs
Another great book in a fantastic series. I love these characters. This book had plenty of action as well as plot twists and turns. Lots of romance and some humor too. The ending was superb.
Atticus has shown up in various stories in Dannika's universe. I've always liked him and hoped to one day read his story. Well, here it is, and it's a heart teaser to be sure. Makes me believe in true love all over again.
A story I’ve really been looking forward too! Atticus, Joy and Salem and their back story! So so sweet with a medium angst and drama with a character based and plot based story. Nice to have both! Super well written with easy to read story!
This is the book that broke me! Wonderful written and full of emotions. How love can prosper through difficult times and preconceptions. Atticus surprised me in all kind of ways . The story flowed and lifted you on the journey effortlessly. This is probably my favourite of all the Black Arrowhead books. The series just keeps getting better
A Shifter grappling with an uncertain future finds solace in the arms of a Vampire, but the only way to confront her feelings is to face her past. An emotional tale about forbidden love, emotional scars, and finding the courage to heal. •´*¨`*•✿•❥•.•´*¨`*•✿•❥• I am never disappointed with a story from this author. It's like coming home every time I read one. ❤ Joy and Atticus.❤
Joy reminds me a lot of Naya from the Seven series. She is strong, knows what she wants, and has high expectations. I'm glad to see Atticus find a mate. He was so good to Lexi and helped her out with her bakery.
Dannika always knows how to get to your emotions. I always find myself crying at some point. AND CRY I DID. It reminded me of how precious life is and how we all eventually have to leave this world. Then right after cheering. What a ride.
I love Dannika Dark books because of the world and characters she builds! She is one of my favorite authors so I find it difficult to give anything less than five stars, because of her writing style, wit, outloud laughs and character development.
The Brave story is a continuation of character stories, and I'm so happy to learn more about Atticus' and Joy's journey. It's a predictable story and leaves more avenues to branch off in future books.
This world and family are what I to belong to, and Nicole Poole is amazing in bringing the characters to life.
Maybe because I'm a book nerd that I feel an invested connection to her characters, but in my case each book feels like coming home.
This book was full of surprises, especially at the beginning. It really made me not like Salem, not because of his past but because of how he was with Joy and how he spoke to her. I am curious to see how his character develops throughout the rest of this series tho. I did love how the pack handled Joy after her reveal, it was really heartwarming especially how all the women were so supportive of her. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

When I found out this book was about Atticus, I could not wait to devour his story! He has been one of my favorite characters since the Seven Series. I fell in love with him and was hoping that he would eventually get his own story. I was not disappointed in the least. I absolutely loved this book and Atticus's story! I honestly wish I could read it again for the first time. He was just such a special character. The way he doated on Joy was everything. I cannot say to much or it will ruin the secrets and the story line. I was not expecting this story line to play out this way but it was everything I had hoped for and more. Joy was such a joy to read. I cannot wait to see who is next and what is in store for the Arrowhead Pack.
I have enjoyed every book from this author, she just has that special something that creates characters & world's that suck you right in, wonderful story telling that always has me reading anything she writes in more or less one day cos I get so immersed. I am so pleased that Atticus & Joy found each other & their story along with the side plots & catching up with favourite side characters was a not to read, excuse the pun. My advice is to read this series in order for full enjoyment as each one follows on from the previous book & the journey is worth it Enjoy 😉
A Suprisingly Beautiful 4.5 Stars!⭐️ The Brave: Black Arrowhead, Book 6 By: Dannika Dark 🎧 Audiobook Narrated By: Nicole Poole Length: 11 hrs and 52 mins
I normally read and listen but opted to just buy the audiobook this time. Maybe that's why, for the first time ever, I picked up that 'some' of the voices were the same for some characters.🤷🏻♀️ She's an absolutely phenomenal narrator, but reading/listening to it without a book, it confused me about which character I was listening to. She is still one of the top tier narrators for me, mind you!😍
This story touched me so much. The lack of prejudice shown from the top down in this pack makes my heart sing! I don't think this author is given enough credit for the amount of barriers and inclusiveness she strives for throughout all of her series!👏 Within the 'Breed' world, insert our world, prejudices against ANY type of difference are extremely prevalent and vicious. The Arrowhead Pack, starting with its Alpha, Tak, cares more about who you are 'inside' rather outside and who you love!⭐️👏❤️
This love story was perfection, and I loved the new questions that this book brought up. The potential for where this series can go just got expanded, imo!😍
I like the fact that Atticus and Joy found love with each other, The history of the pain in Joy’s and Atticus’ life helps bond them together. The baby Violet and the teenager that they brought back only interesting characters in the future books in the series.
this was such fun to listen to number one the narrator is such a phenomenal narrator doing multiple voices you just can't beat her. The story oh The story is Joy story In the arrow wood pack But You can definitely listen to this by itself you don't have to listen to all the books though once you listen to one you definitely want to hear the others and hear the story of the pack Of all the people in the back. you got to see some old friends in this story if you're read of any others of the author's books but this story had some suspense it just was a great story like it was so easy to listen to it was easy you didn't want to stop under any circumstances. I definitely recommend
Oh wow talk about a twist! I truly didn't see this particular one coming, and I'm not talking about who Joy winds up with! This installment to the series was amazing! I really enjoyed getting to know Joy more, who has been such a mystery to us. As well as Salem and Atticus. Of course we see more of the other packmates personalities during this book which is always a nice treat. From the very first page I was hooked which made this book totally binge worthy and easy to read. Learning about Joy's past was enlightening and explained a lot about why she is how she is now. It also revealed a few things that are going to make the next couple of books very interesting! Getting to learn about Atticus was sad but fun. He is such a kind vampire and I like how he paid attention to Joy and didn't just give her expensive gifts, but meaningful ones. I can't wait to keep reading this series!
Dannika is an auto buy author for me, and I never regret it. Joy's story is so full of twists and turns. But so many things click into place, and we get new and exciting information about this spectacular world that Dannika has created.
As always, Nicole Poole's narration is flawless. She's so incredibly talented and just keeps getting better and better.
I love this story of Joy and Atticus! It was so good, good drama, adventure, and romance! All the characters of the Arrowhead pack are so great! Love reading about them and you will too! Read in order if you can!
