I want to be Lilah Love-Mendez when I grow up. Not only is she the coolest FBI agent, but she's also married to Kane who's the ultimate anti hero. The way he supports Lilah is amazing and I could read about these two forever. I also love the cases Lilah is always tackling. I'm looking forward to the next book!
Who wouldn’t love Lilah fucking Love, bad ass FBI chic who loves throwing her weight around. Lilah also love pissing off the serial killers she profiles. Trying to find out who killed her boss she runs into Ghost which she tells him he’s number 2 assassin so now Ghost is after number 1 killer. While also fighting The Society, Mafia & now Kanes father. Love this series and can’t wait til next book.
I can't believe we are at book 10 because I've freaking devoured this series like crazy. Lilah and Kane and their craziness and dances with danger has kept me wide-eyed, on the edge of my seat throughout this series.
These books are not standalones because each book builds upon the events of the previous ones including the relationship dynamics and all the drama and danger and check mate moves carried out. All the books continue in a duet style though meaning, Lilah is seen solving a new case in each duet with the story continuing forward but with a new mystery to solve.
This one continues right from where we left off in the previous book where we see Lilah facing off the deadliest assassin, Ghost.
I don't understand how I've not highlighted this one thing, BUT THE FREAKING BANTER IN THESE BOOKS ARE LIT. I've laughed and giggled even in the midst of serious happenings because that's what Lilah's dialogues do to me.
Her dry sense of humour along with her owning her 𝖻𝖺𝖽𝖺𝗌𝗌 𝔹𝕒𝕕 𝔹𝕚𝕥𝕔𝕙 attitude with her sardonic retorts and sarcastic taunts had me cackling because seriously this girl is fearless and brave but also someone I really love to respect and admire but the way she speaks. 🫣😂
Especially her banter with her bodyguards - Jay, Kit and Enrique. Then her team of techs- Tic-Tac, Lucas (step-cousin) & now reluctantly, Jack, is something I really look forward to even when they are freaking racing against time to piece together all info that they have on a case.
Kane is finally seeming to get back his control as he changes strategy and does what Kane does best - outsmart his enemies and always have the upper hand.
This time though, Lilah is being ordered by the biggest players and hence she has to be more careful as the case involves not only her boss but the higher ups, whose lives might still be in grave danger.
I WAS HERE FOR THE FACE OFF between Lilah and Ghost. One second they are friends and the other, I was sceptical one of them would off the other one. They were like literally someone being on a seesaw with the deadly dance they were doing around each other.
Oohhh... That ending... Do we have Junior back again... Can't wait to find out. Ahh.. less than a year now for the next book but I know, will be so worth the wait. Excited for the next one. Loved this one.♥️
AGENT VS ASSASSIN is the tenth instalment in LR Jones aka Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult LILAH LOVE romantic, suspense series focusing on foul-mouthed, aggressive, contentious and prickly FBI agent Lilah Love-Mendez, and her husband, businessman /Cartel heir Kane Mendez. AGENT VS ASSASSIN should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of book nine THE GHOST ASSASSIN. If you have not read the previous instalments, there may be spoilers in my review.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
SOME BACKGROUND: Throughout the series, Lilah Love has been looking into an organization known as The Society, a powerful group that controls many of the politicians, law enforcement personnel, and the rich and famous, and it is this group that may or may not be targeting the people at the top, one of which is her estranged father, a man running for Governor, a man with connections to the people in control.
Told from first person perspective (Lilah) AGENT VS ASSASSIN picks up shortly after the events of THE GHOST ASSASSIN. Lilah has been struggling with the memories from her past, yet the assassin known as Ghost has offered to take down the ghosts that continue to haunt her dreams but there is more than one assassin on the horizon, and Lilah may be the target of both. With her father running for governor, and her brother working alongside, Lilah begins to focus on the who, how and why, as another high profile murder grabs the attention of FBI agent Lilah Love-Mendez.
The world building continues to follow Lilah as she battles the incompetent yet determined law enforcement, and her team of rag tag specialists with the ability to uncover other people’s secrets and lies. As Kane must come to terms with the reappearance of a man long thought dead, Lilah will come face to face an interesting foe.
There is another large ensemble of secondary and supporting characters including Lilah’s bodyguard Jay, Kane’s bodyguard Kit; Lilah’s brother Andrew; hacker Lucas Davenport; and Lilah’s IT guru Jeff ‘TicTac’ Landers, most of whom are the hunter/gatherers of Lilah’s investigations. We are introduced to an assassin who goes by Ghost, who is always one step ahead of our story line heroine; and the return of someone long thought buried and gone, a return that barely merits a few paragraphs of text.
AGENT VS ASSASSIN is a story of power and control, betrayal and obsession, dysfunctional family dynamics, relationships and love. The premise is detailed and dramatic yet barely advances the story line but a couple of days; the characters are charismatic yet guarded. AGENT VS ASSASSIN ends on a cliff hanger, you have been warned.
"Agent vs. Assassin", the tenth book in the "Lilah Love" series, is another chapter in a storyline that never slows down. Lisa Renee Jones once again proves her ability to keep the reader's attention in a twisty, dark and suspenseful investigation.
The book picks up where "The Ghost Assassin" left off: Lilah Love continues her work as an FBI profiler on a case involving an assassin. Since it was already clear that the murders were carried out by a professional killer, Ghost's appearance comes as no surprise – nor does the way he toys with Lilah. After another encounter, Lilah feels she has finally seen his true face, but soon realises that Ghost is always one step ahead of her. The real question is not how dangerous he is, but how much he can be trusted. Is it really just about someone taking away his title of number one assassin, or is there more to it than that? Is it possible that he himself is the real killer?
Lilah's character remains the strongest element of the series. She is sarcastic, ruthless and unshakable – nothing and no one can stand in her way. Her unique sense of humour is one of her best defence mechanisms, and once again she uses it brilliantly, whether it's her own team, Kane's men or the clueless police officers in the wrong place at the wrong time. While her means are often questionable, one thing is for sure, the cases she investigates never go cold.
The political intrigues and power plays that have been a dominant feature of the series are not relegated to the background this time either, nor is Kane Mendez, who remains an important figure in Lilah's life – not only as her husband, but also as an ally she can always count on, even if their opinions don't always align.
Once again, Lisa Renee Jones masterfully builds the story, maintaining the dark, raw and twisty atmosphere that is typical of the series. And the ending – as we've come to expect – while answers some of our questions, by no means all of them, leaving readers on pins and needles again for the next instalment. "Agent vs. Assassin" is a worthy follow-up to the "Lilah Love" series, further deepening the characters, intensifying the bloody mysteries laced with political corruption, and ensuring that there is never a dull moment in Lilah's world.
I received a free copy of "Agent vs. Assassin" by Lisa Renee Jones via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Agent vs. Assassin delivers exactly what I’ve come to expect from Lisa Renee Jones: sharp tension, deadly mind games, and characters who thrive in morally gray territory. Lilah is a strong, compelling lead who is intelligent, determined, and far more complex than she initially appears. Ghost, on the other hand, is cold, precise, and unsettling in the best way. Watching these two circle each other creates a true battle of equals, and the “agent versus assassin” dynamic drives the story with constant intensity.
One of the book’s greatest strengths is the psychological warfare. The taunting, manipulation, and strategic maneuvering keep the pacing tight and the stakes high. Jones excels at building suspense through calculated moves rather than nonstop action, making every confrontation feel earned and dangerous. Ghost’s presence in particular adds an edge to the story, serving as a chilling counterbalance to Lilah. My biggest frustration was the ongoing lack of communication between Lilah and Kane. It really irked me that Lilah never tells Kane about the government offering him immunity to essentially join them. That’s critical information, and withholding it while criticizing Kane for his proposed solution felt unnecessarily aggravating. The conflict that followed felt avoidable and, at times, forced. Despite that issue, Agent vs. Assassin is an engaging, high-stakes read with complex characters and a tense, satisfying plot. Fans of suspense, covert operations, and morally ambiguous showdowns will find a lot to enjoy here, even if you find yourself wanting to shake the characters and demand they just talk to each other.
Agent vs Assassin (Lilah Love #10) by L. R.Jones. Lisa Renee Jones
Buckle up, my friend! Another wild ride awaits you in the next installment of the Lilah Love series. Just a heads up, this series is meant to be read in order, so don’t miss out on the fun!
Lilah Love-Mendez and her husband Kane Mendez are in a real pickle! They’re both dealing with “Ghosts” that could seriously mess with them if they let them get too close.
Lilah’s high-profile murder case takes a wild turn when she encounters a ghost and gets entangled in another murder. Her nemesis, the assassin known as Ghost, is back, and their encounter is both intense and interesting! With another assassin lurking in the shadows, they must put aside their differences and race to see who can get to her first.
“There’s a war brewing between me and my husband that’s at present positively volcanic.”
Kane is keeping secrets from Lilah again, and trying to find a way to keep them safe from all their many enemies. And as many enemies as they have it could be a daunting challenge!
Wow! This story is intense, full of power and control, betrayal and revenge, corruption and obsession, as well as dysfunctional family dynamics, relationships and love. Can’t wait for what’s next in the Lilah Love Series!!!!
Well, I made it through the first ten books in the series. I love Lilah Love, FBI agent with a stripper name and Kane Mendez, her oil tycoon/cartel kingpin boyfriend…or is he? Their chemistry is off the charts. They balance each other in unimaginable ways.
Lilah comes from Hamptons royalty with a movie star mother, who died in an airplane crash and a mayor father. She dropped out of law school when her mother died and opted to become an FBI agent/profiler. She’s called to all of the difficult cases.
As an FBI profiler, she has it all…a potty mouth, a penchant for killing the bad guys, quirky sidekicks, etc.
I’m glad I found this series ten books in. Each main story spans two books, but here’s the rub. The story starts with some underlying subplots that as of book ten have not been divulged. I’m not sure I can commit to any more books in the series given that the books are published every 12-18 months and the next book won’t be published for another 10 months. We’ll see. Maybe a few years from now I’ll pick them back up. For now, I’m on to another author.
Agent vs. Assassin Book 10 By Lisa Renee Jones Main Characters: Lilah and Kane I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars Wow, I can't say enough great things about Lilah's complete series. I love her character with all that snark. This series is all interconnected and should be read in order. If you don't already know Lilah is an FBI agent on the hunt for Ghost an assassin. I hoped she would not kill him because I like his character. Lilah is smart but is Ghost smarter? There appears to be another assassin involved here and now Ghost might be the number two assassin. If that is true that will not sit well with Ghost. I have never read another character like Lilah with so much snark and I will hate it if LRJ stops writing her stories about Lilah and Kane. This story ends in a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book.
I couldn't wait for this latest book in this gripping series and it met every expectation I had and then some! Whew!
Lilah’s encounters with the Ghost keeps the reader wondering what's going on with his obsession with her and what's going to happen next! Is she his next target or something else?
If you aren't familiar with this fantastic page turner series, you are missing out! Each book has a murder that Special Agent Lilah Love-Mendez needs to solve. However there is an underlying mystery that continues throughout all the books and more clues are revealed. So you’ll need to start at the beginning with the first book in the series, MURDER NOTES, and get ready for a wild twisted adventure that is full of intrigue, mystery, murder, and wonderful characters that are so well written that you start caring about them.
You won't be disappointed and will be wanting more!
I just love Lisa Renee Jones books especially this series. They can be read many times and still be enjoyable. I waited forever for this book and it didn’t disappoint me. The Ghost is a chameleon . Liliah had 2 different sketches of him done and when she sees him again he looks nothing like either. Kane has as many battles as Liliah has in this book. I love all the characters in this book. They show how flawed humans can be and still be functioning. This is a Sit the edge of your seat kinda book. I love how strong Lilah is and how she knows she is bad to the bone. The love that Kane and Lilah has is very strong and powerful. You can’t go wrong with reading this book and series. I plan on starting from the beginning when the series is complete.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
First let me start by saying if you haven’t read this series you NEED to. The Lilah Love Series is one of my all time favorite series, and Agent Vs. Assassin does not disappoint. In Agent Vs. Assassin, Lilah Love-Mendez and Kane still have issues with his father and the assassin, Ghost. They get each other in ways that most couples do not. This is not a romantic suspense in the traditional sense. The focus is more on Lilah’s life as a fiercely independent FBI profiler with the romance factor sprinkled in. Agent Vs. Assassin is the tenth book in the series and is the continuation of The Ghost Assassin. It is not necessary to read the series from the beginning but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do since the main and multiple supporting characters are mentioned throughout the entire series.
A wild ride awaits the reader in this installment of the Lilah Love series. The Lilah Love Series should be read in order and if you are a new reader, get ready for a series full of power, betrayal and revenge, corruption, as well as, a dysfunctional family, strong relationships and endless love.
Lilah Love-Mendez and her husband Kane Mendez find themselves in a power struggle. Each are dealing with “ghosts”that could disrupt their lives if they let them get too close.
Lilah’s high-profile murder case takes a wild turn when her number one enemy, “Ghost”, inserts himself into the investigation. Their encounter at the scene of murder brings on more questions and uncertainty and a sense of unease.
Kane is still keeping secrets from Lilah, while, navigating a way to keep the, safe from all the known enemies.
I can’t wait for what’s next in the Lilah Love Series!
Agent vs. Assassin picks up where the last book left off, we are brought into a story where we see a different side of Ghost. Lilah Love-Mendez and her husband Kane Mendez are dealing with their own issues that could really mess with their future together.
Lilah is working a high-profile murder that takes them down a path that was unexpected. Her nemesis is back and Ghost seems to be helping and protecting Lilah. However, you have to question what are his motives? Who is he really? What is he really doing helping Lilah? They race against each other to see who can get to the assassin that is hiding in the shadows.
This story is nail biting at every turn and is very intense. It will be interesting to read the next installment of this series and where Liliah and Kane take us next.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review from L.R. Jones and Booksprout.
Well there were a few surprises along the way in this one and I certainly expected it to end a little different to what it did, be that good or bad? It definitely kept the suspense high all the way. With the reappearance of an old adversary the story continues... so many questions still on-going we are now left to wait for the next book. Great characters and chemistry, romance, darkness and excitement, depth of plot and the characters. Still not sure quite how long some of this can be drawn out before readers get fed up of no progress, though I could see Lilah and Kane continuing but maybe conclude all the current themes and introduce new cases, like the cold ones she is supposed to solve. Not a criticism but it would boost the series and give options for plenty more going forward. Fabulous series
AGENT VS ASSASSIN is the tenth instalment in LR Jones aka Lisa Renee Jones’s adult LILAH LOVE romantic, aggressive, FBI agent Lilah Love-Mendez, and her husband, businessman /Cartel heir Kane Mendez. She is the coolest FBI agent! You have to read the 9 previous books in this series And you will love it! In this case, Lilah comes face to face with her nemesis the paid assassin named Ghost. She can read people, know how killers’ minds work, has family confrontations, and protect the few she loves.. And loves pie! That's her obsession! In this book is the Ghost a chameleon, he is different every time she sees him.. I love all the characters in this book! Can't wait to see how the story continues!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Putting this book down was not an option! There were so many jaw dropping moments in a plot. There were times I was reading pieces again to make sure i read it right. Then I was back to diving headfirst into more and continuously turning pages.
This mental chess game between Lilian and Ghost is nothing short of delicious! Like the strawberry pie Lilah loves. Ghost doesn’t like to be number two, but his assassin status has fallen to that. How does he gain that back? I’m not dropping that bomb when Lisa doesn’t so perfectly. I’ll tell you to be ready for anything, but I don’t think you will be. This story will keep you guessing and laughing and gasping as only Lisa can do. Get this now and buckle up!!

First off, do not start this series in the middle. Start this one with book one and binge read it. You will not be disappointed. In fact, you will be anxiously awaiting the next installment along with the rest of us! In this one Lilah is knee deep in another bloody mess and has a face-to-face meeting with Ghost. Does that mean she will be the next on his hit list? Apparently not, he obviously recognizes like. At the same time Kane is battling his own demons since he has also come face to face with one, his father...who was supposed to be dead but apparently was not. All this and with Lilah's father running for governor and demanding to know what is happening and the society taking up too much time. Who is doing all the killing?
Ms.Lisa Renee Jones gives us yet another gripping suspense story. This series, and all of its characters, are beyond fantastic! You will love the good guys and loathe the bad. You will anticipate what’s going to happen with the Ghost Assassin only to be blown away by what actually does happen. Lilah Love-Mendez is her usual bad *ss self. Her and her husband Kane are forces to be reckoned with. With a corrupt secret “Society”, a dysfunctional family, secrets, and an obsessed killer, you will not be able to put this book down. The whole series has kept me wanting more of Lilah. This does end on a cliffhanger, but that’s good because I don’t want this crazy world to end.
One thing you will get with this series is lots of twists and turns, hot chemistry between Lilah and Kane, and a really good storyline. I'm a huge fan of Lilah Love, love her tenacity and no bs attitude. I liked the review of the previous books in the series at the beginning of the book, along with the breakdown of characters. If you haven't read the series, this will be a great overview of what you're about to head into with this installment. This book was a quick read for me and kept me very engaged. A few edit errors, but overall a really good book.
This is the 10th book in this author’s Lilah Love Series. This story follows after the conclusion of the previous book, The Ghost Assassin. The story stars Lilah, an FBI agent and Kane. Lilah is an ‘shoot from this hip’ ‘take no crap’ kinda woman and she’s not very happy with her husband but then she’s got issues with the world in general. Especially, after Kanye’s father, whom they thought ‘finally’ dead has now returned, perhaps to take out Lilah. The story will captivate you and keep you engaged. For the most part, it ended way too soon, only because I could have read twice as many pages. .
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lilah Love-Mendez and Kane balance each other. The fact that Lilah might not need protection, but Kane loves her so much that he does everything he can to protect her even adding bodyguards. Ghost is the best assassin but there is more to him. Ghost seems to be intrigued/enamored with Lilah in a way that might make other people uncomfortable. I finished this one really quickly, but I still have lots of questions I need answered! I hope I don't have to wait too long for the next book! My favorite quote is a conversation between Lilah and her brother. "Okay, smartass. I'm not Dexter. I'm an FBI agent bad at arresting people.", (Andrew) "Because you kill them."
In Agent vs Assassin, Lisa Renee Jones mixes chaos, distrust, revenge plots, assassinations, family confrontations, discord and distractions into a deadly chess game between players on opposite ends of the law and the end result is absolutely riveting. It's Lilah Love at her cantankerous best. Not only is she at odds with her bodyguards but her team, her bosses, her brother and father but with her husband as she works to identify a killer. You get lots of answers to a myriad of questions yet you end up wth more questions. That's what makes this book outstanding and hard to put down.
Agent vs Assassin is amazing. Lilah and Kane are back and just getting stronger. I love the dynamics of their relationship. There is a lot of give and take and buttons pushed. Lilah is fantastic at what she does even if she has those itchy Dexter moments. The face off is on for Lilah as she faces Ghost and tries to figure him out as bodies start to build up. I love getting in the mind of Lilah so much. This series just keeps getting better and better. It will suck you in. I cannot wait for more Lilah and Kane to come. Go one click this today.
In these ones, we usually get a new nugget of info we have been wanting, yet also end up with 50 more questions and this time it's the same.
I find Ghost's chats with Lilah to be interesting. It's like he wants to be her friend. Also interesting is how Lilah pretty much told everyone to fuck off, from Kane, her father, the new chief, her boss to the President, no one was safe from her brutal words.
And while the immediate problem was dealt with in this one, there are still so many more loose ends hanging about.
