Dirty Lying Sirens

Rate this book
For fans of romantasy focusing on women discovering their powers, like Fourth Wing and Fall of Ruin and Wrath.

Sabrina Blackburry’s epic romantasy series continues with the story of a young woman who is drawn to the sea—and the mysterious man who beckons her back.

The next installment in the Enchanted Fates series finds a down on her luck young woman discovering the call of the sea is more than just an old wives’ tale.

When Maddie meets Caspian after losing her job and running out of options, she doesn’t expect such an instant connection. Caspian is from Atlantis, a remote Greek island that is the stuff of legends. When he asks her to come home with them, he has a very specific reason in mind. Maddie is a Siren, and she’s lost her gift over the years.

Caspian and Maddie find their rhythm on the island, and explore their connection. It’s one thing to find out you’re a mystical being, it’s quite another to fall in love and then discover that one’s existence could be the downfall of an entire civilization. And Caspian will do everything in his power to protect her, and the life they’ve built together on Atlantis. .

The Enchanted Fates series is a romantasy world of fae, dragons, wolves, witches, warlocks, vampires, and now sirens. This is a series where the worlds are interconnected but the stories do not need to be read in order. Each book features a female protagonist who meets a magical being.

An unexpected DNF.

I've absolutely loved the books in this particular series. Unfortunately, this one just didn't hit.

Our characters were kind of flat and I didn't care for the plot.

Eventually, I realized I wasn't having fun and stopped.

Still like the author and on board for the next one. I think this one was just a misstep.

Maddie is down on her luck when she meets a tempting man, Caspian. Caspian helps her understand a part of herself she was always afraid of.

Cue the sweetest romance. Maddie really grows into her confidence and Caspian is consistently supportive.

I enjoyed the fantasy but I wish we learned a little bit more about her powers.

I would definitely recommend this book if you like light fantasy with a side of romance. ❤️ ✨

I’m excited to try some of the other books in this series of standalones.

Thank you to Sabrina Blackburry, Wattpad Webtoon, and NetGalley for a copy of this arc in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

Fun and light. Fast read for me. I always enjoy Sabrina’s books. I’m desperate to visit Atlantis it sounds like the perfect place to relax. Any way to test my voice to see if I am a siren? I got a voice but I’m not sure if it qualifies. I can’t wait to see what Sabrina comes out with next.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the eARC.

I’ve been super lucky to get the last 3 books of this series as ARCs and I’ve enjoyed all of them. This one was maybe not as good as the previous ones, but still cute.

I think it was pretty slow paced, not a lot of action happening until towards the end. I did enjoy the overall storyline, I just think it lacked the excitement that I found in the previous books. The beginning felt like a great introduction to the characters and their building storyline of her finding out she is a Siren and what all that entails. However, once they arrived in Atlantis, I felt the story stalled out a little bit.

I liked Caspian a lot and enjoyed most of the side characters. Once in Atlantis, it did feel a little overwhelming for a minute because I felt like we were introduced to a lot of new people all at once (which felt very realistic, but still difficult to follow).

Overall, not mad at it..but not my favorite in the series. I’ve absolutely loved all of the previous books and I’m looking forward to what comes next!

Sweet and Wholesome Fantasy Romance

I really enjoyed this book, but I do feel like it is more suited for people who just want to have a TASTE of romance and spicy books.

Starting off with the main character Madaline, I really enjoyed where she was starting off at in the book. She was slowly making her way to hit rock bottom and she would keep to herself and not talk because she believed it to be the source and people not liking her and causing trouble. I could feel the emotions she was going through as she was slowly starting to lose everything. The big issue I had with her character is that she went through this total deep dive about not talking and it being a problem her WHOLE LIFE, I was excited to see her grow through it and the opportunities it would present but midway through, it was almost like talking was never an issue for her so I was a bit disappointed that wasn’t explored more in recovery.

Caspian as a character I think was really well rounded especially for being a love interest for Madaline and what she was going through. He was really gentle while also having a balanced level of confidence. I just wished there was more about him as maybe a backstory on his childhood or showing some of his interests and hobbies. I wouldn't be able to tell you what he enjoyed other than work (which he seemed like he hated doing).

The connection between the two was well rounded and nice chemestry. Their growth together, although over a short period of time did feel natural and not rushed.

The first half of the book was a slow burn between their relationship and the revealing of her being a Siren and Atlantis. I was really intrigued about the dinner with the Mercenary and I was really hoping to hear more about other mystical and magical creatures and beings in the world. I thought they would be a bit more involved in the story than they were.

The story did start to pick up when Atlantis became the focus. The world building was simplistic but enough as far as fantasy goes. You do get a lot of characters introduced in a very short amount of time so I got a little lost on who's who, but they do get brought up quite a bit so most of them I was able to remember by the end. The Uncle was mentioned most of the story so I was under the impression he would be way more relevant than he was as well.

When it comes to the "villains" of the story and the big reveal, I will say I wasn’t really invested in them enough to really feel any strong emotions to what was happening. It was a very straight forward plot that could be fairly easily figured out if you are someone who likes to guess ahead.

I will say the spice level of this book was really well done! It was definitely quality over quantity and left me wanting more. Where the story was simple and straight forward, the spice was very intriguing and surprising.

Overall, I really would have loved more depth to the story. A lot of explanations and situations were solved with basic ideology so nothing to ground breaking or inspirational BUT that’s ok! I am someone who loves to be taken on an unexpected journey, but I do overall just love a good story. The audience for this book feels like more for new romance readers or readers new to fantasy.

For my own experience in fantasy romance this is a solid 3 stars (didn't love it but didn't hate it) and 1/2 star for the spice (wanted more because it was so good): 3.5 stars
For a person reading this in the audience it seems to be intended for: 4 stars.

I have finally finished the last book of the series. This book was more different in the series because you didn't see much of the characters from the other books. Maddie had a rough life sense birth, she was left on a doorstep as a baby with no parents. She grew up in the foster system without being adopted. Then a horrible relationship with boyfriends. She loses her job. The last relationship she was in left her fleeing to Florida and making her homeless. For all what she was going through, it really amazes me how strong she stayed. I wonder how she stayed sane after the whole life crisis she was going through. Caspian was her savior when it came to Maddie's whole life situation and her identity. To find out you are a siren and not know about it. Caspian was very patient with her. He could have taken her away but he respected whatever she wanted to do. It was either to stay where she was or to go back to Atlantis with them. Caspian and Maddie had what you call fated mates. I know it is used for wolves but that is what seems like for them. They both were attracted to each other. They couldn't stop resisting each other. Their kiss was just the beginning of it all. When Maddie agreed to come with them after, it was the right decision. Nikkos who was also Caspian on the trip, is a good friend to all. He accepted Maddie and helped teach her all about sirens, the language , and all about Atlantis. He was also the reason to help Caspian on advice about if he liked Maddie, he needed to stop avoiding his feelings and confront them. Atlantis seems like another realm, colorful clothes, the style of houses, the stores, the food, the customs, status, jobs, and interactions with others. After arriving in Atlantis, all the sister sirens welcomed her with open arms . Caspian and Maddie grew closer. They finally decided together after all the denying they kept trying to do. Maddie does find her true identity and who her parents were. For Maddie's journey, I think she finally got what she was looking for. I enjoyed the whole book series . I recommend it if you like to read about romances with monsters and creatures.

Dirty Lying Sirens is the third book in the series, but I found it easy enough to step into even without having read the earlier installments. The author layers in just enough context so I could follow along with Maddie’s journey, though I can tell longtime readers will pick up on even more depth.

What I enjoyed most was the blend of magic, mythology, and romance. The siren lore and hints of Atlantis give the story a fantastical feel, while the romance between Maddie and Caspian adds sweetness and heart. Their connection feels genuine, and I liked how the relationship pushed Maddie toward growth and self-discovery.

The pacing did slow in spots, with Maddie’s inner doubts sometimes circling longer than I would’ve liked, but overall the writing style flowed well and kept me mostly engaged. The world itself is intriguing, and the themes of hidden powers, found family, and learning to step fully into who you are give the story some nice emotional weight.

Tropes you’ll find here:

Sirens and hidden magic
Mythology / Atlantis elements
Instant attraction with a sweet romance arc
Found family and supportive friendships
Self-discovery and personal growth

Overall, Dirty Lying Sirens is a fun and engaging read with a good balance of fantasy and romance. Thanks to Sabrina Blackburry, Wattpad Books and NetGalley for sending me this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Dirty Lying Sirens swept me away literally and figuratively! Maddie’s story is one of my favorites in the Enchanted Fates series because it feels both magical and deeply emotional. She’s down on her luck, struggling after losing her job, and then Caspian steps into her life like something out of a myth. Turns out, that’s exactly what he is a man from Atlantis who knows Maddie’s true identity: she’s a Siren who’s lost her voice, her gift, and maybe even her sense of self.

What I loved most was how Maddie’s journey felt like both a self-discovery arc and a romance. The chemistry between her and Caspian is undeniable tender, passionate, and rooted in trust. Their growing connection on the island had me swooning, but it’s not just about the romance. There are real stakes here: Maddie’s very existence could bring ruin to an entire civilization, and Caspian’s determination to protect her is equal parts heroic and heartbreaking.

The setting was another highlight for me Atlantis feels lush, mysterious, and alive, a perfect backdrop for a story about love, destiny, and the pull of the sea. By the time I finished, I was completely enchanted.

If you love mermaid and siren lore, swoony romance with high stakes, and stories that feel like modern myths with a romantic heartbeat, Dirty Lying Sirens will sing to you.

Dirty Lying Sirens

A Misplaced Siren, Atlantis, Magic and Love

This book was an unexpected surprise. I found a story in these pages that was even more intriguing than I thought it would be. --Atlantis, Sirens, and my fave... magic!

I was hooked from the very beginning. Poor Madeline has struggled her whole life, never understanding what she truly is or why her voice feels like both a gift and a curse. Then one day as she visits her safe space, a local coffee shop, she bumps—coffee and all—into Caspian, a sexy stranger who changes everything. Their chemistry is instant, but the story takes its time letting it build, giving us a delicious slow burn that’s worth every page.

As Caspian tries to convince Madeline to return to Atlantis, the story dives into secrets, intrigue, and self-discovery. Watching Madeline find her place among the other Sirens—and with Caspian—was so satisfying. I do wish there had been a little more world building around Atlantis, since the glimpses we got were so fascinating and left me wanting more of that underwater magic and mystery.

The ending felt a touch lighter than I’d hoped for, but it was still a heartfelt and satisfying happily ever after. Overall, this story was enchanting, and romantic and for me made a lovely cozy with coffee read.

This read was something really special, and I enjoyed every bit of it! Sabrina does a beautiful job of introducing us to Madeline, a woman down on her luck who is looking for options. Nothing seems to work out for her - except the allure that is the ocean, holding a deeper tie than one she could even imagine. Throw in the mysterious but handsome Caspian, she has a lot to consider as she takes a chance to try something new.

The Siren lore absolutely drew me in this with one, and I was eager to read about how those “not from the mainland” negotiated with those on land. This spin on Atlantis also provided a refreshing twist for Madeline’s story, allowing us to truly appreciate her journey as she navigates discovering who she is, her purpose, and finding something completely unexpected - love along the way. It was all the little things in a wonderful package, with enough adventure and action to keep you engaged.

I couldn’t help but cheer her on, and love how the relationships she built with different people came together. This story is a journey of found family, self discovery, and a pretty Siren finally finding her voice.

Dirty Lying Sirens was a fantastic read, and another one for the list!

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon Book Group for an advance reader copy of this book.

Maddie is down on her luck. She just lost her job, she is about to be evicted from her apartment, and she has no support system.  All she knows are 3 things: people often misunderstand her intentions, so its best she's quiet, the ocean calls to her, and things are pretty dire right now. She goes to her local coffee shop and literally runs into a handsome stranger, and it changes the trajectory to her whole life. Soon, this handsome stranger has the answers to a lot of questions about herself and her heritage. If she has some blind faith, she can change her life for the better and finally have the security and community she's  sought after her whole life.
Dirty Lying Sirens is part of the Enchanted Fates series but can be read as a standalone. This novel was a really low-stakes read with lots of intrigue, decent spice, and cozy romantasy vibes.
I really enjoyed the wholesome male characters of Caspian and Nikkos, who were refreshing to read.
My favorite parts of the book were all of the Atlantis lore.
If you are looking for an easy, romantasy, or paranormal  palette cleanser without lots of world building, this book is a great option.

This is a romance between a struggling woman who has a chance encounter with a handsome man and he changes her life by telling her she is from a fairy tale island and all she has to do is head out into the ocean with him and another stranger. Once there she will be treated life a queen and all her worries will disappear. If she is willing to trust him.

As the last installment to this series, which I have loved, I was extremely excited to get my hands on this book. Personally, this is the first of the series that I didn’t absolutely love. I didn’t dislike it by any means, it was just more of a romance only type book and that isn’t really my preference of reading material. I didn’t really find the main character lovable or relatable and there wasn’t much character development on side characters. I expected a little trouble or challenges like the other books but even the main ones felt like a minor part of the book. Because of those things I felt a little disappointed but still liked the story overall. It was unique and I loved the idea of the lost city.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Maddie,(FMC) finds herself without a job, risking homelessness, and starting to second guess herself. Little does she know her luck is about to change.
In walks Caspian(MMC) who seems to know “what” she is even if he doesn’t tell her the whole truth. Caspian explains how her voice has the sway and he can help her, he can show her a place where women who also have it can train her.

Maddie has to choose between trusting a stranger and finding out who she is, blind trust is hard when she hasn’t had the best luck in her life.

The story is fairly fast paced. We are introduced to Caspian early on and Maddie’s bad luck is immediate. Their first interaction was a chance meeting which is always cute. Throughout the story Maddie does grow in her confidence with herself and of course her voice. Caspian gives those golden retriever energy with his constant support in her.

This was a fun light fantasy story with hints of sweetness between the main characters. You’ll experience a flourishing magic island, hidden identities, forgotten powers, love that comes with risk.

This book took me on a whirlwind adventure from start to finish - I didn’t know what to expect but this was a wild and crazy ride.

Maddie grew up with her adopted parents until she was old enough to head towards the ocean. She had always been drawn there, but, unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of financial stability she can find near said ocean. As she slowly loses her job, her apartment, and finally her car, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious stranger, Caspian. She literally runs into him at her favorite coffee shop and again when she needed a friend most. Caspian immediately recognizes her as a siren from his home - Atlantis. Yes, that Atlantis.

If you can get over the fact that Atlantis plays a big role in this book, you are in for a true adventure. There’s mystery, sexy romantic goodness, and a very good resolution. I loved this new spin on Atlantis tales and especially all the siren lore. This book was a delight and I’m glad we got to spend time with Maddie and Caspian!

First, I love the cover of this book. It’s what originally drew me to find out more. I’m glad I did because this story was intriguing. Atlantis and Sirens and magic. Oh, my!
I was hooked from the beginning.
Poor Madeline, not knowing what she is, struggled her whole life with her voice. Until she bumps into (literally bumps, and spills her coffee on him) a sexy stranger. Her chemistry with Caspian is instant. Their interactions are slow going but undeniable, as he tries to convince Madeline to come back to Atlantis with him. What ensues from there is lots of secrets and intrigue, as Madeline tries to find her place among the other Sirens…and with Caspian.
The ending felt a little less than what I had hoped for but, it was still a happily ever after.
This is definitely an author I will be flowing from now on.

Thank you to NetGalley, Wattpad Webtoon, and Sabrina Blackburry for the ARC of Dirty Lying Sirens. This review is voluntary and honest.

This third installment in the Enchanted Fates series was a charming dive into siren mythology and self-discovery. Maddie, a down-on-her-luck heroine, meets Caspian—a mysterious man from Atlantis—and learns she’s a siren who’s lost her gift. Their romance is sweet and supportive, and I appreciated how Caspian helped Maddie embrace her identity.

The world-building is light but intriguing, with hints of Atlantis and magical lore. While I wished for more exploration of Maddie’s powers and found the pacing slow in spots, the emotional arc and themes of found family and personal growth kept me engaged.

Perfect for fans of romantasy like Fourth Wing or Fall of Ruin and Wrath, especially those who enjoy stories of women discovering their magic.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON for an advanced e-reader copy of Dirty Lying Sirens by Sabrina Blackburry in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed how the author blended elements of mythology, romance, magic, and fantasy into the story. The writing style is smooth and easy to follow, making it accessible even for readers who haven’t read the previous books in the series. The romantic connection between Maddie and Caspian was definitely a highlight for me. Their chemistry felt genuine, especially as Maddie embarks on her journey of self-discovery. However, there were a few moments where the pacing seemed to slow down, and the story lost a bit of its momentum. Overall, it was a decent read with some enjoyable moments, but I was hoping for a little more depth and intensity in the plot at times.

I enjoyed this book. Its a bit more soft and sweet compared to the rest of books in the series but I still loved it. The only reason it's not a full 5☆ read for me is because the ending just felt a little sub par. You still get the happily ever after that you were hoping for, but it just felt like a bit of a let down, it just fell a bit flat in my opinion. Its not bad...I just wish it was more. I like that you don't necessarily need to read the order books in the series to be able to read this story. It can be read as a standalone. If you do read the previous books in the series then you will see that a few characters pop up for a second. I really like the cover, that's what drew me in to read or in the first place. I like the little mermaid vibe that is giving off. I think most people would enjoy this book.

I think this is the fourth book in the Enchanted Fates series but it isn’t showing up under the series in GoodReads. In this one we follow Maddie who grew up an orphan in Michigan. When she aged out of the foster care system the water was calling her and she moved to Florida with the little she owned. She’s now 26 and life has been hard and people don’t understand her until she has a chance meeting with Caspian at a coffee shop. Caspian recognizes what Maddie really is , a siren, and convinces her to come back to Atlantis with him.

Overall not bad but not great. I don’t feel like there was anything really exciting happening in this book and it was slow. 2.5 stars for me rounded up to 3.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of the book to read in exchange for an honest review.

Dirty Lying Sirens - Book 4
When Maddie meets Caspian at the rock bottom part of her life… she doesn’t expect an instant connection… She is a siren with no powers… He invites her home with him to Atlantis…
Will her existence bring down the entire civilization?

OK this one had the sweetest romance… I loved how the chemistry was tangible… It was passionate but gentle.. GAH I loved it. I also loved that the book focused on Maddie's self discovery as well. It was well balanced… It was amazing.

Hello… The setting was ATLANTIS!! I think this might have been the most amazing backdrop and again, the most wonderful worldbuilding. I was enthralled.

The book had so much more depth and I really felt connected to the story and the characters.. It just didn’t get exciting until Atlantis but that's the only complaint.

I’ve read the books that came before this one, and I was excited to read this latest one. You don’t need to have read the ones that came before this one; this book can definitely stand on its own. We meet poor, haunted Maddie who is afraid to use her voice too much because it’s gotten her into so much trouble in the past, and her life is turned completely around when she meets Caspian. This is a romantic tale with Caspian wooing Maddie into becoming who she was meant to be. This installment is well-written, engaging, and has a touch of mystery in finding out who Maddie’s parents are. While I’m more of a suspense-with-a-little-bit-of-romance reader, this is still a great read. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Dirty Lying Sirens by Sabrina Blackburry

🌊🌊🌊🌊

I was excited for this book after loving Dirty Lying Wolves, and Sabrina did not disappoint!

I felt for Maddie throughout the book and was sucked in as soon as Caspian asked that first, very important question. It was great watching Maddie earn the confidence she always had deep down after learning why her voice had gotten her into trouble her entire life.
Caspian was so sweet throughout the entirety of the book. I wish we could have seen more of his possessive side because the little that we did was, well, hot.
I loved the idea of Atlantis growing up and loved this take on it, and I would read more books about just the lives of those there, especially Nikkos!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this ARC! Unfortunately this book ended up being a DNF for me. I was interested in reading a romantasy and the idea of a strong female character whose voice holds more power than she realizes was intriguing to me. The FMC's voice was coming across a bit too immature for me and this was more romance than fantasy. So for someone who is interested in a lighter read with a more straightforward fantastical world and more focus on the romance aspects would probably enjoy this read more. It just wasn't the right fit for me personally.

Dirty Lying Sirens is a much awaited continuation of the Enchanted Fates series. As in Sabrina Blackburry's previous books from this series, this book has a mix of romance, magic, and world-building. I really enjoyed reading about Madeline's self-discovery journey and her connection with Caspian. This story took a fresh take on the myth of sirens that really felt original, while in line with what people know of sirens. As always, I loved the connection to previous books in the series and really look forward to seeing what other mythical creatures are in store for us next!

Unfortunately, this one ended up being a DNF for me. The premise sounded really fun, and I was looking forward to seeing how it played out. However, I struggled to connect with the writing style, and the FMC came across as a bit too immature for my tastes. I think readers who enjoy a lighter, more youthful voice in their main characters may find this more engaging, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me personally.

Boring, so so boring. I got this booking thinking oooh sirens, what did they do to be dirty and lying, and truly I can’t figure out how the title relates to the book. The sirens weren’t dirty or lying, the ruling family was lol

The spice was very mid and there was overall so much fluff and things that truly did not add to the story at all. Overall I was so bored and regularly fell asleep while reading it and the last 3 chapters I just skimmed.

I only liked reading how Caspian treated Maddie which is why I have this 2 stars instead of 1.

This book is my least favorite from the series so far. I think it has to do with the fact that there is little connection in this book to the others. There are a few cameos, but nothing is necessarily tying the stories together. I also felt like the plot of this book was almost in the background and was only talked about in a "oh, I totally forgot you were doing that" way. However, I love the overall vibe of this series, which was continued in this book.

I feel like this book had more soft sweet romance than the others in the set. Which was beautiful.
A sweet attraction from first fumble. The characters meet via spilled coffee on one of them. And it goes from there
This book has found family. Lost home land.
New/found powers.
Once they meet and they talk, he realizes that she is not where she belongs and so many things change for her.
I just loved this book I read through it very quickly. And loved seeing a few characters from previous books pop in to say hi.
But you would be fine reading this book without needing to have read the others.
