Welcome to the Pet Rescue Club! When Janey starts a blog where people can share cute pet photos and stories, she never imagines she’ll receive a heartbreaking photo of a skinny, abandoned dog. She calls on her friends Lolli and Adam to help – and that’s just the start! When these animal-loving fourth graders discover how many animals need help in their suburban hometown, they can’t just sit by and do nothing…

Animal-crazy Janey can’t have any pets of her own because of her father’s severe allergies. Her overly-indulgent parents try to make it up to her by giving her everything else she wants, including the latest model tablet computer. So Janey uses the tablet to create a blog where kids can post cute photos of their dogs and cats.

But then someone sends in a heartbreaking picture of a skinny dog. Janey isn’t sure what to do, so her friends Lolli and Adam get involved to try to help the poor creature. They also enlist hyper Zach from their class at school. He might be annoying, but his mom is a vet who works with the local animal shelter. Can the four of them save the dog – and maybe start a pet rescue club to help other animals in need?
Based on the real-life dog named Harry Truman adopted from the ASPCA.

S (8) has had the box set of Pet Rescue Club books since last Christmas (so, for over a year). Someone bought it for him as a gift, but for the longest time he didn't show any interest in reading this and I didn't push it. Finally, after 8 weeks of quarantine he broke down and started reading this, mostly because he had read through just about literally everything else in the house that's even remotely his reading level. To his surprise--I suspect--he enjoyed this. In fact, he asked me to read it because he told me I would think it's cute.
I agree with his assessment. It's a cute book. The whole book is pretty much just the set up of the Pet Rescue Club, which will presumably continue to rescue animals through the rest of the series. I like the focus on rescuing animals, and on finding ways to pursue what's interesting to you even when you don't get exactly what you want.

This book was so good. I can't wait to read book two. My favorite part is when Zach helps them make the app. The app was for people to send cute pictures of dogs and cats . I'm happy that Truman went to a new home. Truman is so cute I love him. At the start of the book Janey was not being very nice but at the end she was nice.

The series is called Pet Rescue Club and the first title in the series is A New Home for Truman. In this series, a group of friends form a club to help animals in their community. The first book is the story of how they help rescue and find a home for a neglected dog named Truman. I found it to be an engaging, sweet story with a happy ending. This series is perfect for kids who like animal stories. The next two books involve a cat and a horse.

The books are similar to the Puppy Place series (Ellen Miles) - more challenging than Puppy Friends/Kitten Friends (Jenny Dale)but less challenging than Puppy Patrol (also Jenny Dale). Also, the books are based on true rescue stories which are included at the end of the book. So far, there are four books in the series.

Janey starts a blog so she can share cute photos of some of her favourite pets. But when she receives a picture of a very scruffy looking dog. She calls her friends, Lolli and Adam. When she shows them that picture, they all agree to try and help that poor little dog.
