Tuck and Billie's parents design a new type of train car: the dome car, for which they travel to the World's Fair in New York, while Tuck and Billie stay in San Luis Obispo. After running after their dog, Chief, the kids find themselves on the Daylight Limited, as it departs to San Francisco. Tuck strikes a deal with the chef to deliver food to the dog of Tuck's favorite Hollywood actress in her private car at the back of the train. After being able to save the actress from falling down the hill in a train car, Tuck and Billie are rewarded with train tickets to New York, where their parents are.

A major theme of this book is family: Tuck and Billie and their parents shared their love for trains; also, this story is part one of a trilogy, involving Tuck and Billie traveling on different trains to reach their parents.

I loved trains when I was a kid, and I also enjoyed this book as well. I have to say that the artwork was well-drawn, and the story was filled with family and adventure. I would recommend this to children between the ages 7-12; especially if they love trains.

A fantastic book that can be easily reminiscent of Thomas & Friends. Wonderful storytelling and hair-raising adventure inside!

As a kid who was obsessed with trains, this book was fantastic. I read it probably a 100 times as a kid.
