Ionne Chaffin has been living in her apartment for years now, but no one knows her secret that last year she found her family brutally murdered on Christmas Eve by a serial killer. She escaped it as she had arrived late. Now a year later- her neighbors are getting murdered one by one. Will she be able to make it out of this Christmas alive?
Wow! This was such a bingeable Christmas thriller novella! It is full of slasher movie vibes!
All the descriptions make you feel like you are right there with Ionne! And the pacing was perfect.
Don’t make any plans when you start it as being under 200 pages- you will fly through this one and want to complete it in just one sitting!
Also believe this is book one in what will become a holiday series and can’t wait to see what happens next!
I read this book in 2 sittings. I was hooked from the very first page and couldn’t put it down! This one brings you to the edge of your seat the entire time and the detail made you feel you were the one being stalked too.
What an incredible novella, I can’t recommend this one enough! If you want a story that’ll hook you from start to finish, this book is the one for you. Jess is one of the best, and I can’t wait to read what she has in store.
Ionne Chaffin’s Story is a chilling, fast-paced thriller that turns the holiday season into something truly sinister. The premise immediately hooks you—surviving a serial killer once, only to realize a year later that death may still be stalking you. As women in Ionne’s apartment building begin to die one by one in the days leading up to Christmas, the tension steadily escalates and never lets go.
Jess Tully Menges does a great job building atmosphere, especially the sense of isolation and dread that follows Ionne everywhere. The countdown to Christmas adds urgency too!
This is a dark, gripping read perfect for fans of holiday-themed thrillers and serial killer mysteries. A haunting reminder that escaping death once doesn’t mean it’s finished with you.
Great short read mystery! If I would’ve had more than a few minutes a day to read, I would’ve finished it MUCH quicker. It kept me entertained and I’m still wondering who the reaper is! Can’t wait to read the second book.
