Not quite the Valentine's Day they both were expecting...but still the start of something romantic

Valentine's with the Silver Fox is the fourth book in the Festive Flames series. This is a Valentines Day and age-gap romance mixed with an unexpected pregnancy romance between Ivy and James. She is a wedding planner who has hit some hard times because of her now ex who also took their business. He is a billionaire who was planning on renewing his vows with his wife in order to help their failing marriage and instead she leaves him for her yoga instructor. He had booked a consultation with Ivy but when she shows up things are about to get flipped. He now wants her to plan a party announcing his divorce. So this is something Ivy has not done before but she is game to try and make it the best divorce party ever. Along the way as they work together sparks start flying, the chemistry is bubbling and before long they get all hot and heavy. But what happens next for both of them will make you swoon, want to shake them both at times and have you melting.

An age gap romance

I love an age gap silver fox romance, after reading the blurb it tick most of my boxes. I had a love hate for these two main characters there communication skill my god need improvement it was a little frustrating.

The story worked the age gap was just right and the surprise Pregnancy would of like to see more of Ivy pregnant

So glad Ivy saw Kevin for what he was, love the relationships between Ivy and Mimi.

Barbara craved s life he wasn't giving her because he was focused on building his empire and the future he thought it would buy her and him. He hadn't lay a hand on her since the incident mostly because of her choices. He wanted to make things right but she didn't want to. James to his vows seriously and when he said til death do us part he meant it and he wasn't going to stop trying to fix his marriage. While was busy planning the vow renewal Barbara was planning to leave him. As he waited for the wedding planning in the living room deep in thought he heard a noise thinking it was her only to turn around and saw Barbara with two suitcases.
He asked her if she was going somewhere confused because she had only returned yesterday from two weeks on the East Coast and he thought she intended to stay for the holidays. They had several parties and gatherings they traditionally hosted, things their friends and family members looked forward to each year. She was the one who started those traditions. She tells him yes and when he asked her where she was going and how long she will be gone for because they have a lot of planning to do for. She said James I'm leaving. He knew what she meant exactly but wasn't willing to accept it. He knew in his heart that she had quit their marriage a long time ago. He asked when will you be back. Even though, he had hear her say the words so many times and his heart even stopped responding he wanted to hear her said it. She calmly said I'm not coming back. Her expression told him that she had made her choice and no matter what he said she wasn't going to change her mind. As Ms. Hart was exiting her Uber Barbara was leaving in her limo and they passed each other on the sidewalk. Barbara had been a angry bitter woman for the past six months and his actions had only been out of duty the sanctity of marriage as an institution, his morals, what he taught to believe that's why he was trying to fix it.
He felt cold inside and wanted to Ms. Hart that her service was no longer needed but he didn't want to be alone in that huge house now permanently empty. He fretted about how he would be able to pull off his holiday obligations and if Ms. Hart could magically transform from a wedding planner to an event coordinator. James tell her that the plan had changed and that his wife had left him. As he ponder a plan started to form in his mind as he stewed over how Barbara had left him so suddenly. He had never done the holiday prep by himself and needed someone who knew what they were doing. He asked he if she would stay for lunch because he had a proposition that she might be interested in if it fits her schedule. Ivy was hoping that James event would jumpstart her new startup because she was dissolving the partnership with with her ex-boyfriend and business partner Mike because he was a total jerk who was always controlling and domineering. Ivy was taking all her clients with her and he was keeping his. But that may become problematic since he was the one who does the marketing. James level with her about his dilemma and asked if she knows how to plan parties. Ivy have not only plan weddings but bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and bachelor/bachelorette parties for her clients in the past. They were all parties not quite holiday get together but it mostly the same idea so she figure why not.
She decided to level with him as well telling him that she was rebranding and that he might just be able to help her a little as well. She would be planning for Thanksgiving dinners for personal and private parties, holiday galas, Christmas events, gift coordination for corporate shareholders and employees. She started to get overwhelmed because it was a lot for one person to do, and she wasn't sure that she was up to task until he said that Barbara use to do it all but now she's gone. James tell her that they would be spending a lot of time together in the coming months. He was giving her a bedroom with an ensuite and an office in his house unlimited funds for her to plan everything and she could stay in his house as long as she wanted. The idea of staying there instead of paying that huge nightly amount for the hotel wasn't half bad and she would have more space and privacy. It seems that James was a godsend to her as much as she was to him. These two had just came out of toxic relationships with their partners and bonded together and helped each other see the things that were missing in their previous relationship. They're about attracted to each other even though James worries that he may be too old for her at forty-five years old with her in her twenties. And she thinking that she's too young for him.
James decided to ask her out on a date and gave her a complete makeover and when they were at the restaurant he tells her that he wanted to invest in her company as a silent partner. He wanted to show her ex that she could achieve everything on her own and succeed in her new venture. As they spend more time and get to know each other the lines blurred from professional to personal and they give into their shared attraction and the next thing you know Ivy was staring down at a pregnancy test with two pink lines. James decided to invest two million dollars and all his expertise at her disposal in her startup since he has vast experience. Ivy was happy and was moving full steam ahead. But her right hand Kevin seems to have a problem with everything that she do as if he's jealous and doesn't want to see her succeed. James surprise for Barbara went from a vow renewal to a divorce party where he tells all his friends at the same time that he was getting a divorce. Both of these people care about each other but doesn't know how the other feel about the other which cause a break in communication. I'll leave you here.

Did I read the same book as everyone else who gave it good reviews?? WTH

Man do I regret reading this book. There were no characters in this that I liked. The MC’s don’t talk through anything. They both act like scared teenagers instead of adults and end up just repeating and going in circles. The FMC has both horrible friends and family (though I guess you can’t do much about family) and they all flip flop on advice. Even the mother! One minute her family is all “don’t tell him about the baby” an the next they’re “you should be honest with him and tell him everything.” I get she’s hormonal but come on grow some lady balls and tell the man how you feel and what’s going on! Honestly his friends aren’t any better. They’re judgmental and refuse to listen to him. I get that maaaybe their trying to protect him, but at the same time it felt like there were times when they were holding out hope that he’d get back together with his P.O.S. ex-wife. Both the MC’s have such low self esteem that it’s just frustrating at times.

The basic story is this (spoilers):

She’s a down on her luck wedding planner who just got dumped and had her business taken away from her by her ex. He’s a rich older man who has tried to make things work with his wife and wants to renew their vows. His wife just wants a divorce and leaves him. He now has events to plan for the holidays leading up to what was going to be his vow renewal now turned into his divorce announcement event. He hires the FMC to plan all the events, and she agrees since she wants to open her own business again and rebrand. Since she has nowhere to stay, she stays with him, and they grow closer. They have s3x when she’s tipsy and they don’t use protection. They choose not to really talk about how they feel and instead just think that the other person thinks it’s a fling and they aren’t good enough for the other. They get together a few more times until she finds out she’s pregnant and freaks out. She then chooses to use the avoidance technique until his big divorce event only talking to him when needed. He in turn is now planning to use to event to also tell her how he feels and she’s planning to use it to tell him she preggo. The event happens and he TAKES HER ON STAGE and tells her IN FRONT of everyone that he’s in love with her… yahhhh wtf? Why did that seem like a good idea buddy? And he did all this before he announced his divorce. She runs away (understandably) and he then announces that he’s already gotten divorced. Then he chases after her and finds her crying. She tells him she pregnant and he’s stunned and happy and tells her he loves her again and again and it doesn’t matter what people will think. The book ends with them getting married and him finally having a son and a real family.

My advice? Skip this book… it’s not worth the time.

This age-gap, billionaire client romance is an angsty, sexy and spicy read. James hires Ivy to plan a spectacular Valentine’s Day vow renewal for his wife, only to have his wife leave him and their marriage behind. Ivy thinks her new start with her own wedding planning business after own breakup was over before it began. Then her wealthy client, James, hires her to plan all of the holiday events for his company, family and friends. Planning anything other than wedding themed parties is out of her comfort zone, but Ivy needs the money and connections planning these parties for James will bring. When he offers her a room and office space in his home instead of her continuing to stay in a hotel, she can’t afford to say no. Neither is looking for love or a relationship after their breakups, but the sparks and sizzle between them are hard to ignore. A dinner out, a business proposition and too much wine on her part leads to lowered inhibitions and a passionate interlude. The way forward is a bit of a mine field, with both questioning their feelings as well as the other’s, wondering how to move forward, and encountering friends who seem to now be the enemy. Then Ivy discovers she is pregnant. Another mine set to blow up things between them or a blessing neither knew they wanted?

This captivating book is well worth reading. I am happy to recommend it.

Ivy Hart has just had her world changed. The wedding planning business she started along with Mike has been taken from her along with her home since she left him because of his controlling overbearing ways. Now she is living alone in a hotel with only her current client James Carver to somehow start over. James hired Ivy to plan a surprise vow renewal on Valentines Day to hopefully breathe life back into his marriage. Barbara Carver however wanted nothing to do with James and left stating she wanted the marriage annulled. All of this at the start of the holidays where James and Barbara usually hosted many gatherings including the Valentine Gala. As Barbara was leaving the estate Ivy was arriving to discuss the gala. James decided on the spot to ask Ivy to change her focus from wedding planning to party planning and handle all of his parties from Thanksgiving to the Valentine Gala with the bonus of a room and office at his estate to stay on premises since most of the parties were held there. Neither expected the instant bond they would form or the tangle of feelings and worries falling would cause. Both have their own reasons for their insecurities keeping them from telling the other how they really feel and what they hope for.

Ivy is a wedding planner going through a bad business/personal split with her partner. When she arrives at a meeting for a Valentine’s Vow Renewal she is planning and is told by James that it won’t be happening she is almost in full panic before James suggests she plan all his holiday gatherings now that his wife has left him. As they plan parties and spend more times together, Ivy starts to fall for James.

I liked a lot about this book. It’s super angsty and you wonder how two people can be so wrong about each other for a lot of the book. I also really wanted to strangle Ivy’s “friend” more than once. I wanted to cheer when she finally started to stand up for herself. There is a lot of spice followed by a lot of angsty and then more spice and more angst, but at the end of the story you were like, finally they got it together. I loved the epilogue. If you want an angsty valentine’s themed read this one checks a lot of boxes.

This is a different perspective on who tries the hardest to fix a broken relationship. James tries to mend his failing marriage. He hires a wedding planner to create a vow renewal for him and his wife for Valentines Day. She is not interested in the marriage or fixing their relationship. She asks for an annulment. Ivy Hart is the wedding planner that James hires. She comes to speak with him about the wedding vow renewal as his wife is leaving. He asks her to become his event planner for the holiday season through Valentine’s Day. He even gives her work space and living space in his very large home. This starts a series of meetings that cause them each to have feelings for each other. Yes the sex is off the chart as well when they get there. This becomes their love story. It is confusing sweet and spicy. They also learn to communicate openly with each other. I enjoyed reading their story.

James has always put his work before his family life which cost him his marriage. but while he still thinks he can save his marriage he discovers his wife cheating on him. he then meets Ivy for whom he has a crush.
Will Ivy and James have a nice Valentine's Day or will Ivy's gift scare James...

When she gets hired to use her talents as a party planner, transform the ordinary to beautful extrordinary ballrooms and serve the very rich the expected grand food, wines and atmosphere, it is the beginning of a new life. She amazes this silver fox billionaire with her party planning talents and then James realizes she is more. This story will make you smile; wish you were their friend and feel the knowing love as it blooms. Thanks for great writing for adults only.

In this book we meet Ivy Hart & James Carver. James had hired Ivy to help him get his marriage back on track with a surprise 2 wedding for him and his wife. The problem with this is before he can even get the whole thing planned his wife walks out the door and out of his life. Ivy doesn't know what has happened but watching a woman walk out of the house with suitcases is never a good thing. She is hoping that this event would give her a leg up in the industry. What happens next shocks them both. Can they find a HEA or will it all just be a business arrangement?

Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

The is an interesting "Festive Flames" story with some twists and surprises. The festive flames story is about James and Ivy. She has just split from her fiancé and business partner in her event planning business. She is trying to start a new business and struggling. She is hired to plan a vow renewal. James is trying to save his marriage and has hired Ivy to plan an event where he and his wife renew their vows. Well that does not work out and instead he hires Ivy through the holiday season that will end on Valentine's Day and a party to celebrate his divorce. This story is sweet and steamy with secrets, drama, passion, love, regrets and second chances.

If you are wanting a fast paced age gap romance with an accidental pregnancy where the MMC is a billionaire, then this is for you. I am not the biggest fan of age gap, but sometimes if they don’t mention it too much I can deal with it. This one does mention it a lot though. I got kinda frustrated with the fact they were both keeping HUGE secrets from each other in fear of rejection. It was drawn out. Other than those aspects, I did like the book. This might not have been one of my faves but I’m sure someone who enjoys these tropes a little bit more would like to a lot.

I really enjoy this book, I liked the storyline and the characters. The age gap didn't seem like a problem to Ivy at all. James brought it up many times but she wasn't fussed. I know James marriage wasn't a great one over the last year, but he seemed to want to save his marriage. Until she leaves he's like ok fine. James and Ivy do have chemistry and you can see the spark they have. It just didn't seem realistic about how James acted when it came to Ivy. Considering James is an older gentleman his communicating skills were shocking, just glad he sorted it out in the end.

Ivy an event planner was hired by James to plan all his upcoming events. Normally his wife completed this task so he thought if he hired someone that it would help her and she would renew their relationship. Only the day the event planner shows up, his wife walks out. Now he has another plan and proceeds hiring Ivy to help him. James and Ivy have some chemistry which they eventually give into but both are not sure how the other one feels so James devises a plan to show her just how much he wants her in his life.

“You don’t need to read every age gap… you don’t need to read every age gap” I hear age gap and I don’t know what happens.. I black out and then come to as I’m 50% in and realize they are not all worth the read.

I loved that it was set in GB, WI.. and that was the best part.

Writing wasn’t my favorite.. could have maybe gone through another edit to polish it up.

My biggest hang up was the misconception.. or “I think he’s going to think xyz and can’t possible be into me” and the other person thinks the same so they waste 100 pages avoiding each other while we listen to them mentally berate themselves and instead they could have been together.. not a fan.

This story starts off with Barbra walking out on her marriage to James and wanting an annulment.
James really wanted to make it work but nothing would work now even though he wanted to renew their vows.
He couldn't cancel the party for the renewal as it has already paid and contacted a party planner.
Ivy was the party planner and down on her luck, she really needed the money.
Both are now in the same position but not for long.
I really enjoyed this story so much, finding out how they would work together and age does rear its ugly head.

If you are looking for a wonderful story with the genre of older men and younger women and a bit of forbidden then this is a book you must read. We are taken along in the lives of James and Ivy, he hires her as a party planner but they soon have a click and attraction and it is not long before they cross the line of boss and employee and things get steamy. Can they keep this secret or will it burst when other secrets come to the surface outside of their secret relationship?

This story reminded me of the old-fashioned Victorian-style romances that I read as a teen but set in modern times. James and Ivy, both on the rebound , have difficulty expressing their budding feelings for each other. This is one of those books that you need to savor and with the slower pace and style, you can do just that.

A Valentine to remember

Moody pregnant woman should not make decisions that they may regret. I did not agree with er mom and sister. Why wait regardless it was his kid as well and he needed to be informed. Sorry did not make sense especially when he had told her that he always wanted children. Blah blah blah longer story. Actually just more stress when that is he last thing she needed.

I thought this was a really good book.

I enjoyed both James and Ivy, though James often came off as much older than he supposedly was. I enjoyed following their relationship as it progressed... and they both found a new happiness in life.

Good characters, interesting storyline - really liked the idea of a divorce party! Sweet and steamy read.
