Just binge read this novella in an hour. Couldn’t put it down! Went into this one completely blind and had no idea what it was about but I was gripped and intrigued from the start. Had my heart thumping in places too! A brilliant apocalyptic type thriller that's well worth a read.

Thank you @indie_visible_services and @tmlunnauthor for an ARC! This book comes out this weekend!

'All I Can Remember Now' is a chilling apocalyptic novella written by the talented TM Lunn. Set on the Scottish Isles, we find our main character and her boyfriend using a boat to survive. Staying off the mainland and keeping safe with all the Scottish beauty that hides them from the end of the world. However, as one can expect, supplies run short and venturing into the danger zone is the only way to see tomorrow.

Set in a "now" and "then" timeline, we see our MCs current situation with facing the apocalypse and then we get glimpses of how it all began. My favourite bit is the slow destruction of society. Rather than the apocalypse taking hold in a day or two, we see it panned out a little longer. This worked extremely well considering this is only a novella. The found footage vibes of the teenage boys breaking into the abandoned care home was absolutely haunting and heart pounding.

We watch the MC face the terror of the apocalypse, focusing only on the present day rather than what the future holds. Desperate to keep her and her boyfriend safe, while also dealing with the memories of those she lost and the deep tension that her relationship is facing. Can a relationship alone on a boat during the end of the world really survive? And even if it can't, what choice do you have?

The ending is tense, shocking and has a twist you won't see coming. Add this book to your TBR and join the voyage along the lonely Scottish waters!

I’m not usually a short stories kinda gal, often reaching for a 900 page epic fantasy over a snappy drama, but this sucked me right in.

Finished in two short sittings - beautifully written and a fantastic ending. Would recommend to all.

Also, should I take up sailing?? I think I should?

I picked this up as a palette cleanser between larger books and wow was I surprised!

I loved the sailing elements, after sailing as a child myself & found the apocalypse very interesting.

This is a well written short read & is emotional & introspective as we follow the main characters' survival, and how the apocalypse began.

Would definitely recommend this ☺️

All I Can Remember Now by T. M. Lunn is a palpable look into what it might be like to survive the apocalypse.

The time is hazy, the location is on a bright-blue sailboat somewhere in Scotland. Two people who were dating become lifelines for each other when it all caves in and nothing is ever the same again.

The quiet grieving, distance and loneliness from self and others feels real. Not because it's over dramatized (it isn't) but because it unfolds quietly and simply like a traumatized person telling us their story for the very first time.

I've spent glorious days on the water in boats of every kind, and was delighted to find a book like this that reveals the rugged beauty of a coastline from the water, freedom from technology and the dangers of spending time on big water. Of course the circumstances are not one of leisure or personal enjoyment, it is safety from others, an island of a kind.

The narrative unfolds in flashbacks and snippets of what and how it happened. Like the retelling of a real event, it isn't always clear where we are, and I enjoyed that aspect, because it felt like an artistic choice that made the reader lean in and listen closer. Fiction has so much to say to us. Not to mention the devastation of death, leaving home and loss in high numbers. This aspect was tragic and a bit gory in a few places, but thankfully––not sensationalized.

What is it to feel alone, and to actually be alone? Will we prevail and what is left behind when we no longer tether ourselves to the past that is truly gone?

The poetic imagery was spare but when it came, it was gorgeous. "Explosions of glitter followed in its wake, near neon and alive with movement." Bioluminescence is pure magic!

What I came away with was the perception of someone deeply courageous who had lost so much, the only thing holding them together was nostalgia for better days, hope for the future and the promise of love.

Lunn is an indie author who is an automatic buy for me and this newest novella did not disappoint.

I loved the descriptions of the effects of the virus on humanity and it really makes you think about how terrifying it would be to be the last ones standing after a virus that tears through everything and everyone you know so quickly.

This is a fast paced read, perfect for lovers of dark fiction that makes you think.

A gripping post-apocalypse survival story that had me hooked, I couldn’t put it down! Loved the narrator’s internal monologue and the evocative descriptions of the Scottish coast. Chapters alternating between past and present had me on the edge of my seat and the shocking ending I didn’t see coming. So good!

This was a great book, in fact one of the best books I've read in a long time. The author conjures up an unsettling and isolated world where a couple have narrowly escaped a globalwide epidemic by sailing the seas around the Scottish coastlines. The book is beautifully written but doesn't shy away from the brutality of the new fast-acting plague that threatens the couple whenever they need to return to the mainland to scavenge for supplies. Told in dual timelines - during the initial breakout and the aftermath - the tale ratchets up the tension and doesn't let go. Brilliant, brilliant book and I will be scavenging for other T M Lunn books immediately.

What a great short story offering a chilling perspective into what the end of the world could look like! Told in before-and-after alternating POVs, this story follows a young couple who escape on their boat after a deadly virus breaks out and ends the world. The virus gives people giggle fits before they die, which was so creepy to picture and terrified me lol!

I loved having the before POVs included in the story because it made it all the more emotional to read the after POVs and realize most of those characters were gone. The main character's loneliness and grief was captured really well in the after POVs as she floats out in the ocean, wishing the world could go back to normal. And that ending was so emotional! Another amazing read from TM Lunn - I can't wait to read the next one!

A heartbreaking and thrilling apocalyptic novella that I read in a couple of hours. Hard to put down.

The 'now' and 'then' chapters worked really well. We follow the MC as she tries to survive, alongside her boyfriend, sailing on the West Coast of Scotland.
We learn why, and what happened to everyone.
It’s detailed and beautifully written with an ending I didn’t see coming.

Highly recommended read.

The descriptive writing is incredible and the end - well it didn’t expect so that was great!
For a novella, this took me an awfully long time to read, I struggled to get into this. - just because it took me a while, please don’t let that deter you away from reading this fantastically written novella!

If you love a good end-of-the-world book, especially one that really encapsulates the human side of it, you’ll definitely want to give this one a read.

There are a few things that T.M. Lunn does particularly well in this novella. First, there is a lot more time spent on the characters—including their histories, quirks, and feelings—than on the reasons for the catastrophic events. I love this because it concentrates on the heart of merely surviving, while carrying the emotional burdens of times now gone. Additionally, I think it’s very realistic that the majority of the world would be clueless about the causes of such a deadly epidemic. The WHY and HOW would be secondary to living from one day to the next. This story centers very well around that.

Second, while the details on the virus are elusive, everything the narrator does know is horrifying. I honestly don’t want to reveal much more, because I’d hate to rob anyone of the raw chills I felt when reading those scenes. Enjoy!

Lastly, the ending is so solid. You won’t see it coming at all, and then, before you even get over that initial shock, there’s another jaw-dropper around the corner. I enjoyed this entire book, but the final scene was probably my favorite.

Traversing the waters as they try to survive, or wait out the fall of man, we are treated to a story of survival and all its costs. The trials and tribulations of a world devoid of the luxury of the corner shop, and the decimation of people….and if any are left, it’s probably best to keep your distance.
I like a post apocalyptic story in all the flavours they come in, but sometimes it’s fun to get one that feels almost “grounded”. Not a Mad Max style story or a dystopian future, just the quiet bleakness of the world falling apart. This is what we have here in this novella.

This isn’t The Last of Us, or a tale of the hero fixing the problem, it’s a bleak and lonely existence just surviving one day at a time. Told in an alternating then/now chapter format we just survive as we’re slowly fed the cause, and that worked incredibly well with the story.
I really enjoyed the whole thing and Lunn managed to make mostly nothing seem interesting and hold my attention. I’d recommend this to any readers really as it doesn’t plumb the depths of being some depraved apocalyptic nightmare.

Whenever I watch horror movies, I always wonder—who would I be in a disaster? Would I survive? All I Can Remember Now dives right into that question, following a woman enduring the aftermath of a zombie-like apocalypse. The story unfolds in two timelines: the outbreak’s beginning and the present, where survival has become routine.

This book made me think. I saw myself in the protagonist—not just in her will to survive but in her doubt, her quiet strength, and how she keeps moving forward even when she doesn’t believe she can. It’s deeply reflective, more about the experience of surviving than action-packed chaos. If you’re looking for high-energy fights and explosions, this isn’t it. In a way, nothing really happens—just another day of survival. And that’s what makes it powerful.

The way we handle grief, how we cope—it’s insane. On a personal level, and even in the protagonist’s relationship with her husband, I felt that deeply. If you ever wondered what I’d be thinking and doing in an end-of-the-world scenario? This.

All I Can Remember Now is a short, tense and engaging story about grief and survival.

T M Lunn paints a bleak picture of a future Britain where an unknown pandemic has swept the nation and society has fallen apart, set against the backdrop of the wild and beautiful Scottish coast.

The story alternates between two timelines: pre- and post-pandemic, and the pre-pandemic timeline hits very close to home. The two timelines eventually converge and culminate in a pretty devastating finale. This is not a feel-good story, far from it! But it's very well-written and the post-apocalyptic world Lunn has created in this novella feels very real.

Definitely worth a read if you need a short read in the vein of 28 Days Later and The Road.

I was lucky enough to get an early read of this novella. It is different to anything I've ever read. It is very cleverly written in a way that it gives a apprehensive atmosphere all the way through. You feel like you're there, needing to watch your surroundings, on edge wondering what's happening or going to happen next. Things are revealed in two time lines bit by bit, revealing what horrors were happening in the world when things were changing and in the present, up to an unexpected ending. One I would recommend which will be released on 2nd February.
