Jayden and Cate Maxwell banter like no one I have read before. Jayden being the youngest Sheppard feels the need to prove his worth to his family. He’s just starting to be part of the family business. Now he’s teamed up with Cate who is perfect to a tee. They need to work on a case together. A teens life is in jeopardy. The only thing is they get taken by surprise, and off guard to which they both pay for. They protect each other.
Now Jayden feels he didn’t do enough. Cate doesn’t know how to feel about Jay. Are they enemies? Or have they become something more after what they have endured?

This book is a real page-turner! Jay, a former marine ranger turned reluctant family business employee, is a lovable mess. Cate, a former FBI agent, is the perfect partner in crime-solving and romance. As they work together, their chemistry is undeniable. I loved watching their relationship blossom, and the suspenseful plot kept me on the edge of my seat. A great read for fans of romantic suspense!
