Jordan and Ellie’s plans to get a weekend away with their daughter are disrupted when work comes calling. An incident has them both busy, as Ellie is tasked with making decisions that could affect her friends. Meanwhile, Jordan’s visit to a witness isn’t going well either.
I love the few books I have already read of the Carpenter and Harding series, so it is always great to check back in with Jordan and Ellie and get an update on their lives. They never seem to have much luck in getting some downtime and this time was no exception. They always seem to be in demand and needed for something, that is more often than not a threat to one or both of them, and those they love, just highlighting the dangers of the carers they have chosen. Each time they always surprise me with how they deal with the situation and pull it altogether in the end through sheer determination and hard work.
It was a heartbreaking they had an interruption to family time this time, but I knew they’d reap the rewards of their sacrifices and still get the time in the end, because it’s just what they do. Another very exciting instalment in the series.
Ellie and Jordan are ready for their getaway with Meri with just a few hours of work separating them from their break. Only things don’t happen as they should. Jordan comes up against a maniac and Ellie comes up against a whole load of maniacs. This was a fantastic addition to the Carpenter/Harding series of books. Action packed and fast paced the book moves at a gallop at the start before slowing down to a canter for the second half but no less intense. A small teaser is left at the end for what will hopefully become the next book. Assuming there are still plenty of ‘I’words to use to keep the series running.
Another good addition to an awesome series... But seriously, does this department ever catch a break or are they like the only target the misogynists can find!?! Sign of the times when I'm thinking "What happened to just good old basic murder days... " *sighs & waits impatiently for the next book to come out*
Wonderful to catch up with old friends Jordan and Ellie. That's what Infernos feels like. Fancy raiding a police station. What threads to unravel. Just as I think I can heave a sigh of certainty the last paragraph leaves me hanging. So well written, Barbara Winkes
Carpenter/ Harding series are never a disappointment. Infernos: lesbian detective novel is a thriller with twists and turns, the suspense will keep you on your tip toes.
Holy cow! What a ride. This story hooks you in the first chapter. So much excitement in the opening pages, the book goes on to keep Jordan and Ellie busy juggling cases. As usual, Barbara has plenty of characters to keep you guessing what will happen next. This series is one of my favorites and I will be sad to see it end, but until then keep them coming!
