This is one of the single greatest books I've ever read. I may be bias since I personally know the author, but there are scenes in this book that have lingered in my memory for over a year now that still get me every time I think about them. There are also few books that I talk about to other people more then this one. If you want a great retelling of a story we all know, this one will give you surprises you wouldn't expect, and you will kick yourself for not expecting them because you already know the story. This is a personal favorite for sure, a great start to a very promising career.
This is a book that I think every teenage girl should read, like be required to read. It is in many ways I think deeply personal, and being a brother of three sisters I could better understand my sister's personal struggles through life due to this book. I won't at all pretend to say that I know anything about girls because I read this book, because honestly, I don't, but I did notice the value of the characters in this book to girls. Just like "Frozen", where I had trouble connecting with the characters because the female roles were so personal and so deep, while I can't connect, I recognize what an important story, and important character these characters can be to young women! That being said, it is still a great read for a guy. It isn't exclusively written for girls, and there is a male role that I personally loved every scene he was in because he was extremely easy to connect with.
