De Geschiedenis van het Grieksche Volk

Rate this book

My copy belonged to my great grandfather Henry Hicks.

It’s beautiful, it contains many pictures which makes the reading much more immersive, in my opinion.

It is written in a way that leaves you wanting to learn more about Ancient Greece, and definitely reaffirmed my admiration towards Ancient Greeks.

Their art, philosophy, society truly shaped our world even today, and makes one wonder how different the world would be if the Persians had dominated the Greeks.

This book gives sense and purpose to the wars that happened, and truly gives me a reason to tell these historical facts, because it seems unfair to forget those who died so long ago fighting for an idea(s) that truly shaped the world we lived in.

I would recommend it to everyone of any age

I found a copy of this introduction to Greek history at my library's book sale. Each page has beautiful illustrations and photographs. The various epochs of Greek history are succinctly and eloquently described. I can't vouch for the "reprint" editions, but my copy is a beautiful work of art in its own right.
