The Crawford Family Playbook #2

Second Quarter Comeback

Rate this book
Second Quarter Comeback is a swoony, hilarious second-chance romance featuring a sarcastic doctor—who’s a cooter coach—a cocky quarterback, and a past that refuses to stay in the locker room.

The universe must have a sick sense of humor.

Fourteen years ago, Killion Crawford broke my heart like it was just another move in his playbook. One minute, I was his everything; the next, he was calling an audible and choosing football over me. Fine. Whatever. I moved on, built my career, and swore off quarterbacks for good.

Now, thanks to a cruel twist of fate (or maybe just my own terrible luck), I’m living next door to him in New York. Killion, of course, is still infuriatingly charming, ridiculously good-looking, and somehow even better at worming his way under my skin than he was back in college.

He swears we have unfinished business. That we should “go for it in the second half.”

I swear I’m not playing this game again.

But between our accidental run-ins, our very loud balcony arguments, and the world’s most manipulative kitten (how dare he choose him over me?), avoiding Killion is all but impossible. And the worst part? I’m starting to wonder if maybe—just maybe—he’s right.

Fourteen years ago, Killian shattered Camille’s heart, and now he’s unexpectedly her next door neighbor. She wants nothing to do with him, but Killian is relentless in his pursuit of a second chance. Their witty banter and playful text exchanges kept me hooked, making their journey even more satisfying.

Killian’s charm and humor eventually break through Camille’s defenses, and their undeniable chemistry reignites. But when buried truths from their past resurface, they must decide if they can truly move forward together.

Narrators CJ Bloom and Christian Fox bring Camille and Killian’s dynamic to life, perfectly capturing their humor, tension, and deep connection. This book is a delightful mix of humor and heart, making it a must listen!

Thank you, Kendall Hale for the ALC.

H/h met at a college party and immediately hit it off. They were in love, together for a few months until H tells her he chooses football over her and dumps her. They meet years later when he runs into her at his apartment building.

14 years of separation where he did the dumping, forgot she existed, got rich and famous, dated other people, moved on happily and yet we are supposed to believe he was in love with her the entire time? And that she was on his mind?

As always we have a h that's stuck to the past, can't move on, got nothing to show in her love life despite being wildly successful in her career.

I kind of got why he broke up with her - they were young, he was 21, she was 18 - his father was telling him off and her parents were threatening him and his family so he took the easy way out. But what about after he got famous and got rich ? In the years later ? If he loved her so much, why not go for her?

The dude had 14 fucking years to do something but he'd much rather date other women and live his life than get the girl. Idk about you but to me, that makes him a lazy coward that doesn't deserve her.

I liked h, up until the point where she forgives him after 1 conversation. One. He shows her the ring he bought for her back then to prove it was serious for him as well and she's all okay with years of pain and sleeps with him.

Grovel? No. Guilt? Yes. The second chance felt cheap since he only wanted her now to ease his guilt and that too only because she was easy and conveniently in front of him. I bet if he hadn't run into her, she would be a forgotten blip in his life.

Safety - Both with OP during the 14 years of separation. Since he is famous, she saw him with his girlfriends all the time on social media and it hurt her. No details on her dating history. No ow/om drama.

This is the second book in this impressive series and this is Killion and Camille’s story.
Fourteen years ago Killian broke Camille’s heart when he chose football over her. Now Camille is a doctor, and a cruel stroke of fate has Killian as her neighbor. Killian is determined that they have unfinished business, but has his work cut out for him to convince her to give them another chance.
This is a well written story with family, friendships, emotions, making choices, tension, humor, witty banter, soulmates, second chances, sizzling chemistry, revelations, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I love a good second chance romance especially with a strong and independent fmc. Camille met Killion her first year of college and they had a whirlwind relationship but he was getting ready to play football professionally. When he broke her heart and left, she vowed to never look back. Now 14 years later, she sees him again and all those feelings come rushing back. Killion wants to start again, he knows he messed up but he had his reasons. Can she let her walls down to see if they have a future?
As always, the characters and banter are so much fun. The Crawford family is loud and lovable.

4 Star Review Second Quarter Comeback (The Crawford Family Playbook #2) by Kendall Hale

Kendall Hale is a relatively new author to me but what I have read I enjoyed. I have no idea why I have not come across this author previously.

This is Killion Crawford and
Camille (Cami)’s second chance at love story and one I enjoyed.

When fate puts Killion and Cami together again the sparks fly. However, fourteen years ago he walked away to concentrate on his football career, leaving behind a devastated Cami.

The chemistry between them still sizzles but Killion will have his work cut out for him to convince Cami to take another chance on them.

It was entertaining to watch as they reconnected and I loved that Cami was not a pushover.

Well written this book ticked numerous boxes for me.

Killian and Camille were so cute together!

This was a good read that I really enjoyed. I really liked the way the story was written in two parts.

Part one was from when Killian and Camille first met at a frat party. I just loved that scene—it was almost like a “meet cute.” From the time these two lay eyes on one another, the chemistry is instant and fiery. Their banter, even during the initial meeting, was so funny. I felt like these were two people who had finally met their match. I loved that we got to see that.

In addition to how they met, in the first part, we see the development of their relationship. To me, this was such a wonderful decision made by the author. I loved that we were not just told that these two were together in the past, but we got to see it and live it with them. This helped later on in the book, during the second part, when they reconnect 14 years after the breakup. Then, the reader is better able to understand why the FMC Camille is not so willing to quickly forgive Killian. This was a man who she gave her mind, body, soul, and trust to and to be betrayed by him, it would take a lot to just forgive and forget.

As far as part two, we get to see what happens after Killian and Camille break up and 14 years later, the universe decides to bring them back together again. There were so many funny moments in this part of the book. I loved the lightheartedness of it, and I also loved that Camille made Killian work for it. I was like “Yes girl! Make that man work for your love!”

In addition to their funny banter, there was a lot of flirty texts and spicy scenes in this book. I counted 7 scenes that included some sort of spice so just be aware that this one will be hot and steamy!!!

There are other things I really enjoyed about this read…the dynamics between the Crawford siblings, Killian’s interactions with his dads (the fact that Killian had 2 dads and they discussed how the dads used surrogacy to have the kids was great representation in this book). I loved that Camille was smart, strong, independent, and really worked to help other women as a doctor and a social media personality. Last but certainly not least, Benedict the cat was the true icing on the cake! He is my spirit animal in just the way he didn't care about nothing but living his good ole life. Lol! Makes me want to get a cat too!

Overall, this was a great, lighthearted, second-chance romance with lots of funny banter, lovable characters, and great spice. So far, I am loving The Crawford Family Playbook series, and I cannot wait for Leif and Hailey’s story in The Final Faceoff!

Absolutely LOVED it!
These Crawford Siblings are amazing! they're funny, loving, smart, loyal and have complicated histories with relationships, love and all things sports related.

This swoony football romance is packed with all the tropes I absolutely love:

💔 Second Chance Romance – because some love stories deserve a do-over.
🚪 Forced Proximity – nothing like being stuck together to rekindle old flames.
⚡ Opposites Attract – when differences make the chemistry even hotter.
🌞 Grumpy x Sunshine (Reverse) – she’s brooding, he’s the golden retriever.
❤️ He Falls First (and Falls Really Hard!) – and he’s not afraid to show it.
💬 Witty Banter – sparks fly on and off the field.
💘 Childhood Sweethearts Reunited – because first love never really fades.
😮‍💨 The One That Got Away – but he’s determined to win her back.
🔥 Possessive Hero – because she’s always been his.
📱 Texting/Phone Calls as Foreplay – who knew words could be this steamy?
🔥 Enemies-to-Lovers (Lite) – old wounds, new tension, undeniable passion.
🏈 Swoony Football Player – because athletes who love hard are everything.

Second Quarter Comeback is Killion (Kade's twin brother) and Camille's story.
It all started 14 years ago when they met at a frat party while in college... they thought they were each other's endgame, until 4 months later, Killion broker her heart. She was a freshman and he was a junior.
For 14 years they managed to never cross paths, until fate decided to bring them back together.

Camille is smart, sassy, ambitious and a no- nonsense person. She knows what she wants, and definitely knows what she doesn't' want: and that is to not put her heart on the line ever again. Killion broker her heart, shattered it.

Killion is funny, loving, ambitious and passionate about football, and loves his family (despite their squabbles). He knows he messed up 14 years ago and has paid for it ever since. He has never been able to find love or meaning in relationships with anyone else since letting Camille go.

We also get to know the other siblings a bit more, giving us hints about perhaps, where their stories may lead.

Kendall Hale invites us on their journey with her amazing use of duo POV, witty characters, funny banter and spicy text exchanges that'll have you fanning your face!

I love how she give us emotionally mature MMC's who are not afraid to grovel and work/fight for their FMC, while also giving us strong FMC who refuse to settle or be too quick to forgive. Her FMC knows thier worth, and Camille is no exception. She has to draw a few hard lines in the sand with her parents, and this exercise in boundaries should be a lesson for anyone who struggles with their relationship with people they care about.

The only problem I had with this book is that I started it late at night and kept reading, when really i should have gone to sleep so i could function the next day - ha ha! It was just so good, I could not put it down!

I received a free ARC of this book, and this review is only my opinion.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧Enticing & Charming!

Second Quarter Comeback
The Crawford Family Playbook, Book 2
By: Kendall Hale
Narrated by: CJ Bloom, Christian Fox

It is great to be back in Kendall Hale‘s “Crawford Family Playbook” world again for another fabulous novel, a second chance sports romance featuring another Crawford sibling, Killion. Killion ran into Camille, aka Cami or Cam, at a college frat party, though she was not exactly partying or being social, but she had her textbook as a companion. Well, she really did not want to go, but her roommate dragged her there. The two hit it off and left the party, and despite neither looking to get involved romantically, their relationship came easy. She was serious about her studies and he was focusing on playing football and the draft, but they were going to make it work, except that did not happen and he left her broken-hearted. Fast forward fourteen years, Killion plays professional football and Camille is a doctor and not your average doctor but one with a social media following. She is in NY on a business venture, staying in a provided apartment and she runs into the last person she wants to see, Killion Crawford. Cami is Killion’s one regret and the one that got away, but she isn’t that quiet bookworm any longer, she is a spitfire who doesn’t want to give her the time of day. Killion is determined to win her back and gets creative in doing so. This book lures you in, and once you start, you do not want to stop, because you want to know what happens next. I was rooting for these two the entire time and I loved how it all played out, with a perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, humor and witty banter, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. And once again, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Kendall Hale, thank you for another wonderfully entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 CJ Bloom and Christian Fox were the perfect cast to bring the character to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and was convincing in every role. Bloom’s take on Camille was fantastic, and she was a natural in the role, showcasing all aspects of her personality and demeanor, including her sassy no-nonsense wit. Fox did the same as Killion and was just as fabulous, playing the perfect, swoon worthy charmer, a possessive and determined charmer. Their pacing and tone were right for the story, and they handled the witty dialogue effortlessly. You could hear how much heart and passion they put into their performance as they capture all the characters’ emotions and have you feeling them all. They are entertaining storytellers and their captivating performance takes the already wonderful story to another level.

“She’s more beautiful now than she was at eighteen, with the same fire, the same determination. But there’s a wall around her I never had to fight before, and I don’t know if I can climb it. All I know is that I still want to. Even after all these years, after all the mistakes, I still want her.”

Second Quarter Comeback | Kendall Hale | The Crawford Family Playbook #2

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5, 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

“This can’t be happening. Not here. Not now. I spent years rebuilding myself after Killion Crawford dumped me. Years convincing myself that what we had was a teenage fantasy— a mistake I could learn from and leave behind. But now he’s here. Living next door. And there’s no safety net, no distance to protect me from the man who seems like he still has the power to unravel me with a single look.”

Read this if you love: second chance | forced proximity | reverse grumpy x sunshine | he falls first | opposites attract | college sweethearts reunited | witty banter | grumpy cat

“I just want a chance. To get to know you. To show you who I’ve become. I’m not the same guy who walked away, Camille. But my soul . . . well, my soul never forgot you. That part of me that still loves your essence? That hasn’t changed. You’ll always be a part of me, even if we . . . even if I have to live the rest of my life without you.”

The beginning of this book sucks you right into Killion and Camille’s young romance and then BAM it’s 14 years later. I’m not sure what my favorite part of Killion attempting to win her back is as there were so many little things that made this couple special. I loved their texts and Killion’s need to take care of her. But I also loved Camille’s independence and drive. While in the last book Kaden and Val were this battling dynamic, Killion and Cam had more of the longing. I’m looking forward to reading Leif's book.

Thank you @authorkendallhale for the eARC. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Book two in the Crawford Family Playbook by Kendall Hale provides everything we have come to love from her writing while meeting new characters and joining them on their journey. Second Quarter Comeback is a wonderful story that happens both in the past and the present. Already having a history, the MCs aversion to each other is well understood by the reader. I love how Kendall gives us the backstory from the beginning.

Killian and Camille, as stated, have a history. Their relationship didn’t work in the past, but 14 years later fate has brought them back together. Camille is definitely on guard around Killian, not quick to be hurt again. But the heart wants what the heart wants and readers quickly find themselves immersed in their flirty texts, witty banter, and heated looks.

Kendall has always written spice and heat well, but she outdid herself in this book! The heated scenes were perfect and fell into the story naturally. I love how Kendall can make this part of her storytelling feel very organic and not forced for the sake of having heat in her books. The same can be said for the family dynamics of this book. The Crawford family is fun to read about and easy to relate to. I loved how Kenall represented surrogacy in this book too. Normalizing that not all families look the same is important and Kendall does a great job.

All in all this was a wonderful, heartwarming read that left me with all good feelings. I loved how strong Camille is throughout the book and how determined Killian is. Camille doesn’t make it easy to win her back and I loved this about her. Kendall passion for writing is always obvious in her books and this one is no different. I can’t wait for her next book to be released and read more about these amazing characters!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

I know it's too early in the series to pick favorites but I LOVED Killion and Camille's second chance romance. I think my heart skipped a beat at the time leap for a minute because I knew there was no way these two didn't have an HEA.

When Killion chose football over Camille he broke not only her heart but his own, only she didn't know that at the time. I was so happy that she went on to fulfill her dreams of becoming a doctor, but my heart broke for her at how damaged Killion left her view on love and happily ever after.

Fate intervened for this couple when they ended up being neighbors 14 years later, and Killion immediately saw this as his second chance with the one he let get away. That man was nothing if not persistent in proving to Camille that it was always her, and there was nothing going to stand in his way of having a future with her. I was proud of Camille for making him work for it, even if it was evident that it was always her.

CJ Bloom and Christian Fox were outstanding as Camille and Killion. I had the pleasure of listening after I read the book and it made me fall in love with this couple and their story all over again. They told Killion and Camille's story with all the emotions and fun banter on full display.

I love how important the family is to the story and how they all support and push one another in the right direction. The banter, tension and spice are always top tier with Kendall Hale and just makes me love her writing even more. I'm so excited to meet the rest of the Crawford family as they no doubt make mistakes in love and life and learn from them with their big, loud, lovable family by their sides.

Kendall Hale has written another incredible book, a great addition to The Crawford Family Playbook. After the first one, I was excited about this series, but now I am hooked. I loved Camille and Killion’s story.

This was a second chance done right, with fourteen years between their relationship. While their initial relationship ended because of the dirty, rotten, miscommunication trope, their break made sense for their journey. I loved the banter between these two. The tension and spice were delightful. The breakup allowed them both to fulfill their dreams while still getting to be together and have their happily ever after.

As I said in my review of the previous book, the Crawford family is everything. When they are together, it is magic. They have such a great relationship. I am excited for more books.

This book, and all of Kendall’s books, are available on KU and audiobook. I listened to the audiobook for this one. Christian Fox and CJ Bloom delivered terrific performances. I hope you read it and love it, too. Let me know what you think.

This is such a fun, sweet and sexy, second chance romance! I was hooked from the very first page and loved Killion and Camille (Cami). They meet in college and have an instant connection, falling fast and hard. But Killion has been drafted and is leaving to play professional football, and Cami has big plans that include getting into med school. Now fourteen years after their hearts were broken, fate brings them back together when Cami moves into the apartment next to Killion. They are both successful in their fields, but have never found love. Cami is Killion's big regret, and he is determined to win her back. But Cami is not going to make it easy, as she protects her heart. This second chance romance had it all—humor, sizzle, emotion, and characters you can’t help but love. Killion and Cami were fire together and I loved every single part of their story as they reconnect and grow back together, and the chemistry that buzzes between them is palpable. I also loved getting to know more about the Crawford family as well. This is a beautifully-written story about forgiveness, family, second chances, and love.
Who better to bring this fun, heartfelt, and steamy story to life than the talented CJ Bloom and Christian Fox. These two really compliment each other, giving life to their characters in a way that kept me thoroughly invested from start to finish.

I’m just gonna get this one tiny thing out of the way before I talk about this story. Most of you are not going to even care about this but it doesn't matter if you do, because I do and it’s my experience. Camille is a grown woman, an MD and “one of the most sought-after doctors” in her field. DO NOT use the phrase ”cooter coach” or make her online handle @The HappyHooHaCoach when talking about her career and accomplishments!! That’s just … do better. K, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Camille and Killian have a second chance journey that was quite simply, pretty darn perfect. I honestly couldn’t ask for a more “well played”, relatable, organic and just plain natural romance journey. There was no OTT dramatics nor were there adults not adulting properly. I appreciate the heck out of Kendall Hale for her writing style!

Their reconnect was both sweet and swoony and their chemistry sparked in the present just as much as the past. Their characters grew into the development of their romance, and it just felt good to read their story! I hate that I missed the first one of the series, but it’s cued as one of my next audiobooks as soon as I can! Truth be told, I’m looking forward to binging both of these stories in audio before The Final Faceoff comes out!

I ALWAYS LOVE a good second chance romance and when it involves childhood sweethearts you know it’s going to be good!

When you get a look into how a relationship began and then get a “years later”, you know shit went south and things are going to get interesting *smirk*. And it just so happens, that Killion’s “the one that got away” re-enters his life and turns it upside down… in the best ways of course. *wink* KILLION AND HIS YEARNING AND GROVELLING?! I. COULD. NOT. He indeed needed it though for Camille because MY GOD was she a FIRECRACKER. Oh, and I loved her occupation! Like, let’s go girl! I definitely did feel sorry for Killion and Camille as to how much their families intervened with their relationship when they were younger. Especially Camille’s parents! I could not imagine having to deal with that but also the heartbreak of losing the love of your life!

But the banter, Killion’s mouth and Camille’s red-hot energy were an explosion waiting to happen. Full of feelings and emotions that had been bottled up for so long, and once it exploded and everything came to the surface OH WASN’T IT DELIGHTFUL! I am so happy for them and it warmed my heart that they were able to break down each other’s walls and get their happily ever after!

I’m so happy I stumbled upon this author and this series!

Killion and Camille/Cami/Cam are very much opposites who truly belong together. I loved getting to see how they began back in college because it helped me cheer even harder for Killion to recover from his epic bad decision 14 years ago and to win her back.

In the here and now, Killion sees his new neighbor and is immediately pulled back into his deep love for Cami. He owns the bad decision he made and after knowing what living his life without her for 14 years has been like, he’s determined to win her back.

Cami moved away and suppressed her feelings so seeing Killion again has her seeped in emotions and hurt. I loved how she stood up for herself and asked for space and time instead of letting Killion overwhelm her with his intentions.

The Crawford family is full of big personalities, talent and ambition with love and support for each other while they banter and harass each other. So fun!

I’m eager for the other Crawford siblings’ books and to continue to see Killion & Cami, and Kaden & Valentine.

This is the second book in the Crawford series by Kendall Hale and it is a possible stand alone but it does help a little if you have read the first one. I have not read any books by this author before and it was a nice, easy going, little bit of heartbreak, some laughs and some spice romance. It will be interesting to see where this series and all these characters will be going next.

Killion Crawford is a successful NFL quarterback, lives in a great apartment and has what everyone wants. There is just one thing missing though, love and great relationship. There was one time he did have that, but it was fourteen years ago and he messed it up so badly he wasn’t sure if that amazing woman he had been with would ever forgive him. Guess fate was on his side when he found out that his one true love, Camille (Cami) was moving in next door. She wouldn’t be here very long, maybe a year while she was doing her own dream job of being a doctor, so he had to move fast to win her back. The question was would she let him because he hadn’t just broken her heart, he had shattered it.

Thanks to the author and 1852 Media for an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.

Thank you to the author for the eARC.

You know I am always apprehensive when starting a second chance trope, but Kendall Hale came in clutch and allayed all my fears.

Camille and Killion meet while college students and spend a precious few months together before Killion breaks up with her, and it’s 14 years before they meet up again.

What is so good about Second Quarter Comeback is that Killion firmly accepts his mistakes of his youth. He’s persistent in wanting to apologize and make up for his past, and grabbing for a future with Camille. But when she has boundaries and asks for space, he respects her choices. A bit of groveling goes a long way with making me fall in love.

I love that Cam was successful and had fully lived her life without Killion, but just like him, she knew something had been missing. Neither sat around pining for the other, but it was clear neither had fully emotionally moved on.

Both families were a bit much (talk about some interference) but I enjoyed getting to know more of Killion’s siblings, and I’m ready for their stories!

A career opportunity has brought Camille even if it is the last place she wants to be. For years she has physically distanced herself from the man who broke her heart but now not only are they living in the same city but the same building as well.

The biggest regret in Killian’s life was ending his relationship with Camille even if he thought it was the best decision at the time. Seeing her again he is determined to fight for her and that means showing her that he is not the same man, and she can trust him with her heart.

This is a touching story of a second chance at love. While they were apart their careers flourished but the same can’t be said for their romantic lives and I appreciated that they didn’t just rush in but took the time to get to know each other again and realize how special the love they shared was. CJ Bloom gave a masterful performance as you could feel the conflict that Camille was experiencing while Christian Fox portrayal ensured you knew how deep the feelings Killian had for Camille were.

I’m loving this series so far! Camille and Killion were a joy to read. The Crawford family definitely keeps me entertained!

Fourteen years ago, Killion broke Camille’s heart. Life moved on with both of them becoming successful in their own right. Now, they are unexpected neighbors and Killion is wanting to make things right. However, how can she trust him again?

This was a wonderful second chance story. I feel like it was so realistic that Killion was determined to win Camille back, not by his words, but by his actions. Nothing was going to stop him from proving to her that he was no longer the stupid college kid who broke both of their hearts. I loved how Camille made him work for it. She knew her worth and was not settling for less, which made me so happy for her. I loved seeing the rest of the Crawford family and their antics. Seriously, this has been one of my favorite series I’ve read this year.

In book 2 of The Crawford Family Playbook we are introduced to Kaden's twin brother Killian. While attending a frat party, Killian meets Camille who is a book loving "nerd" and quickly falls in love with her. Camille and Killian share a short time together where they both feel like they are each other's end game--until Killian picks football over Camille. Fourteen years later, Killian runs into Camille again and works on winning her back. Killian never really got over his love for Camille and secretly she didn't either. This book beautifully captures forgiveness, second chances, and overcoming past hurts. Killian keeps showing up through his actions and not just his words. And Camille did a lot of work on herself through the years and knows what she wants and deserves. We offered another peek into the Crawford family and continue to see the bonds of family, loyalty, and love between the siblings. I enjoyed how they call each other out and show up for each other.

🏈After being dragged to a college party neither of them wanted to be at, fate brings Killion and Camille together. They fall head over heels in love but, months later the same fate that brought them together, tears them apart.

🩷14 years later, Camille moves to NYC and finds out her neighbor is the one who broke her heart, Killion, super star football player and the only man she has ever loved. She was determined to not let him in and have her heart broken again.

🏈Killion will stop at nothing to win her back. He messed up, made a mistake, but he is determined to right his wrongs and stand up for what he wants.

🩷I loved, loved this story. Honestly, their chemistry was everything. You can tell from the start, even at a young age, they were meant for each other. The banter and back and forth was fantastic🔥. Killion definitely did not stop until he proved his love and it was everything.

🏈Plus, Benedict Cumbercat?!?! 🐱Say no more! Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

This is the second book in the series. I really do enjoy the Crawford family so much. Not gonna lie this one took me a bit to get into. It started a little slow for me, but once I got into it I had a hard time putting id down. This is a great second chance romance. I appreciated that Camille didn't make it easy for Killian. He had to work and prove himself to the man he is fourteen years later. To my delight this book even had a cat. Loved how Killian knew winning Camille back was also part befriending her kitty. Killian also knows there is nothing to get in his way of a second chance with his "one". Plenty of heart, but this book also brings the heat. One thing these two never had a problem with is the chemistry. I loved getting to know how they started and the inside jokes with them. Already looking forward to the next Crawford sibling!

Another amazing laugh out loud story from Kendall! Second Chance, football, doctor and next door neighbor are some of my favorite tropes and Kendall writes them perfectly!

Killion and Camille have a past that didn’t end so well…they have some things to work through. They are so funny and will have you laughing, swooning and binge reading/listening to this story.

Kendall writes amazing stories with fabulous one liners, characters with amazing chemistry, banter and fabulous zingers/one liners..my favorite “Coochie Coach”!!

CJ Bloom and Christian Fox deliver a fantastic performance. Their voices were perfect and they gave the characters perfect emotion and personality. Their delivery added to the laughs and enjoyment of the story! Narrators are so talented with how they take authors words and deliver a whole new experience.

This book had me smiling from start to finish. I mean I was just giddy AF reading this!! This book is the culprit of ignored house chores and I'm not sad about it. It's a sizzling, heartfelt, sports romance immersed with great banter, can't help but smile moments, and DiRty talk. The story is told in dual pov and follows the MCs, Camille and Killion. Killion is my newest book hubby. His mouth is FILTHy and he has the skillset to back it up. The audiobook makes this even hotter and still has me blushing. It's dual narrated by CJ Bloom & Christian Fox and was a pleasure filled listening experience. My girl CJ Bloom always delivers on the feels. Your tbr won't regret this one!

Themes & Tropes:

💚Second Chance Romance
💙 Reverse Grumpy/ Sunshine
🤍Forced Proximity
💚He Falls First and Harder
💙High School Sweethearts
🤍Enemies to Lovers

Overall, Loved this read!❤️

This page-turner is well written, with swoony romance, steam, and humorous banter (spoken as well as texted).  Killion messed up when he was 21, breaking up with the girl he wanted to be with for the rest of his life when he got drafted to play professional football. Camille was heartbroken. She went on to become a successful doctor/ surgeon and tried to forget Killion. Forward to 14 years later, when they end up neighbours and Killion tries to reunite with Camille. I love how she sticks to her guns and makes it difficult for him. Meanwhile, he uses everything in his arsenal to whittle down her will bit by bit (mmmm, fries). They have some unforeseen obstacles to overcome; can Killion get his second chance?

Cami and Killion are second chance goals. When she finds out why he called off their relationship 14 years ago he only tells her what his dad said left out what her parents said, but her mom tells her that same night! He shows her he is serious about them and wants her and only her. She finally accepts it and starts to let him in and love her again. The fact that she was afraid to let Scottie be her business partner because of the what if about her and Killion not working out. Scottie is a true girls girl. I love how Killions dad's have a whole different take on their relationship and them being back together. Her parents are on a whole new planet. Can we talk about how he proposed to her though? The house they have a year later and the fact that they have not one but two cats and they both cannot stand Killion. I love these two and was rooting for them from the beginning.

📚✨ Second Quarter Comeback by Kendall Hale

This second-chance romance completely pulled me in! Camille is a sarcastic doctor (and hilarious), and Killion is the charming quarterback she can’t escape in the best way. Their banter is sharp, their tension is real, and the chemistry between them is undeniable.

I loved how even though they broke up back in college, life still brought them back together. It felt like they were always meant for each other, and watching them reconnect, grow, and heal had me rooting for them the whole time. The emotional build-up was so well written, and the romance had the perfect mix of heat and heart.

🔥 Spice Rating: 3/5 enough steam to blush, but not overpower the story!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A heartfelt, swoony comeback story I absolutely recommend.

A fast paced sports romance following the second boy in the Crawford family. Killion messed up 14 years ago when he let Camille go. They were young and in love but Killion's football career was taking off and he couldn't be selfish enough to let Camille uproot her life for him. The best play for him was to break her heart and protect his family careers and reputation.

14 years later when they meet in his apartment complex lobby, his body remembers her before his brain can catch up. He has to move heaven and earth to seek her forgiveness and officially give her the engagement ring he has held on to for 14 years.

I love the fact that the breakup was in the beginning of the book and it was not clingy. The banter was so sweet and well done. The narrators did a wonderful job.
