This was a really good read and a great break from my normal urban/street fiction. Kai Davis is hit with one problem right after the other. I really felt for Kai and wondered when her break was going to come. The story started a little slow; however, once the diagnosis came in I appreaciated the slow beginning. I was able to really understand all the symptoms she endured at the beginning of the book because of that. There were a few editing issues that I couldn't overlook. With this being said I would be honored to read another book by this author

Author @authoressks took me on a journey that managed to teach me some things as well as pull on my heartstrings at the same time. In FLATLINED: ALMOST DOESN’T COUNT Kai is a young mother in her early 20’s with one son that has just been proposed to and by her current boyfriend who is in the armed forces. She quickly marries DeWayne and soon leaves her whole family to be with her husband. After she becomes pregnant and gives birth to her second child, Kai becomes sick but none of the Dr’s are giving her any diagnosis that she can believe. Kai is spending so much time in and out of emergency rooms, in bed from pain and just pushing through her day to day routine while still in pain. Meanwhile she still can’t get a proper diagnosis and her husband doesn’t believe there’s anything wrong with her. He actually thinks she’s exaggerating because all the Dr.’s have said she’s healthy. Fed up with everyone thinking she’s crazy, Kai decides to go back to the U.K. where her family was stationed to see different Dr.’s in hopes of getting a diagnosis. There she is finally correctly diagnosed with Lupus and begins a regimen to get her stabilized. Through it all, there had been ups and downs with her health and also her marriage was seemingly falling apart. Her husband didn’t want to be burdened with hospital and Dr. visits, Kai had no family support so she moved back to where her family was and it seemed it was for the best.

Lupus is a sickness and depression.

Flatlined ( Almost doesn’t count book 1) by KS Oliver is heartbreaking and emotional story. This is my first time reading from this author. I want to take my time to reading this book. She does a good job.

KS Oliver explains how Lupus affects people lives. There are types of Lupus from this book. Kai was struggling with Lupus. She doesn’t have support system with her husband, and some of her family. I wish her husband will understanding with her situation without complaining. Her grandmother and God are good spirit for her.

I can’t wait to read part 2 of Flatlined. My heart goes to this author and her family.

Good read:

Raw and Real

Wow!!! I must start with wow.. I work in the medical world but after reading understand the life of life and war. This was definitely an emotional twist. I can only say you have to be among support love to continue to fight this particular fight. Although everyone battles various things it's easy to give up it hard to fight. This was an eye opener of the day to day life of a warrior. I salute this Queen.. Even in the battle the war was won.

Good book to read.

This book showed a lot of truth on how people will just up and leave you without sticking by your side when you need them the most.

Kai was dealt one issue after another. It was touching because no one really knows the pain one is going through when they're on the outside looking in. I really liked the relationship between Kai and Bill. Through it all he showed he still cared and gave words of encouragement when she needed to hear it the most. I didn't know how to take Dewayne. On one hand he felt as if Kai was being extra but on the other hand once he learned how serious it was he was still distant. Kai proved it's never easy dealing with the unknown and when doctors tell you one thing continue to seek all the help needed until questions and concerns are answered. She is definitely a survivor and even when she felt as if she'd give up she got the reassurance needed to continue her fight and realize almost surely doesn't count.

First off let me start by saying WOW. I have never read anything like this book in my whole life. This book broke my heart from what Kai had to go through before someone actually found out what was the reason for all of her illness. Kai went through hell and then some. If it wasn't for Kai going back and forth to the hospital which was beyond her control she would have never found out what was wrong with her. This big took me on an emotional roller coaster that really showed me if you don't keep at it about your health no one I mean one one will take you serious. I give Kai all the praise because she us a fighter and I can't wait to see what happened in the next part of the book. Hands down please don't sleep on this book or this author.

OMG

Ebonee this is the first book I've read from you and it's AWESOME. You don't look nothing like what you've been through. I must say your strong black woman. Lupus and Fibromyalgia is a horrible disease. I have a few friends that's been diagnosed with them. I'm happy to see your still with your husband. You both went through alot and managed to stay together. That's the true meaning of "For better or worse". I look forward to reading more of your work. Keep the faith you have and continue pressing on. One more thing.. You owe me a box of Kleenex bcuz I cried through most of this book

We've been given an inside glimpse of the life of an incredibly determined woman that faces a debilitating condition that one couldn't possibly imagine. She's done an incredible job on this literary piece that describes how one person's illness could effect a whole entire family. I applaud you Ms. Oliver for having the courage to share your story. I would imagine that this was not an easy feat to accomplish. Thank you! Just because one may not "look sick" does not mean that we are well.

And She is still standing! This book had you feeling like you were right there with here through every emotion. I don't know about you but I cried with her, I begged her not to give up. I even wanted to pop her in the lip like an elder for speaking of euthanasia. When you find a book that allows you to walk with the characters, you have no choice but to give it a 5 STAR!

I felt her pain.

This book was very thought out and carefully written. I felt the Author pain written in this novel. I understood her struggles while trying to keep it together for her family. It's hard to keep it together when no one believes you. When the truth came out no one turned their back on her. I loved her support system.
